The document describes the design process for a digipak for a fictional album. It analyzes digipaks by Marina and the Diamonds and Florence and the Machine as inspiration. The front cover features a close-up shot of the artist to represent their style. Inside pages continue themes from the music video by featuring props and lyrics. Alternating pages show different sides of the artist's personality to represent the dark and light themes of the album.

Hadj Ounis's most notable work is his sculpture titled "Metamorphosis." This piece showcases Ounis's mastery of form and texture, as he seamlessly combines metal and wood to create a dynamic and visually striking composition. The juxtaposition of the two materials creates a sense of tension and harmony, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between nature and industry.
1. DIGIPAK DESIGN A short presentation
showing and analysing my
digipak designs.
2. FRONT
COVER BEFORE
Here is my final design for the front of the digipak (right) . After analysing both digipak designs for the
albums “Primadonna” by Marina and The Diamonds and “Lungs” by Florence and the Machine, I noticed
a correlation between them where on both of the front covers were a midshot or close-up of the artist. I
think this is a brilliant marketing technique to use to really sell the artist to the audience and represent
their individual style therefore I decided that this would be a very good idea to incorporate into my own
work. As you can see I have used a midshot image of my artist and I am very pleased with the overall
result. The original image wasn’t as close-up to my model as I would have liked therefore I cropped it in
Adobe Photoshop. I also added effects such as darkening the background and adding a white gradient
to create a more mysterious and dark look. As well as this I airbrushed my artist to give the image an
even further professional look that would be able to compete with the highly edited adverts, digipaks
and magazines in todays music industry. This is an editing technique I have used on all of the images
used within my digipak other than the back cover and digipak. One of my favourite features about my
front cover is how I have placed the title of the album “Lonely Hearts Club” on the sheet my artist is
holding, I think this has created a very eye catching look that will gain my audiences attention. The
startled/unsettled look of my artist’s eyes is also very captivating and would be sure to gain attention. I
have placed my artists stage name “Candydoll” at the top of the digipak in a bold and large font to allow
the audience to instantly recognise her and ensure she is the main focus. The font for the album title is
still interesting and gains the audiences attention but after analysing 2 digipaks, I have noticed that it is
a common feature to have the artist’s name in a large font and the album title smaller but still bold.
This is so that the artist is represented well and gaining a larger audience by doing so. I have
represented my artist as being alternative and different from most artists today by having her have an
unusual facial expression and also styling her in quite alternative clothing compared to the modern
styling of artists in the mainstream music industry today. Throughout the digipak designs such as the
ones inside, my artist is shown to be more alternative however by putting a less controversial but still
alternative image on the front, my digipak will attract a bigger audience with different interests as well
as my target audience therefore I decided that this would be the perfect shot to use.

3. BACK
COVER
BEFORE
For the back cover of my digipak, I thought it would be an interesting idea to take
a picture of the props used within my video. This would make the theme of a tea
party within my video a continuing theme and allow y print work to link directly
with my video, making the props more iconic and the theme even stronger. I
decided to edit the track list for my digipak onto the table cloth part of the
image, I thought this would be effective as it would create the look of the song
titles being laid down on the table as well as being a simple background so that
the titles and extra information stand out more to the audience than they would
if the background was very busy. From my analysing other digipaks, I have
noticed that the back cover seems to be quite plain with small touches of the
styling of the overall album and styling of the artist. I believe that I have achieved
this idea within my back cover.
To give my digipak a more professional look, I have added a barcode which is
present on all digipaks for retail as well as adding information on the record
label. I have also included the personal website of my artist so that my target
audience can find out more about her personally and artistically.
FINAL DESIGN
4. DIGIPAK DISC
BEFORE
For the CD in my digipak I have decided to use an image of a dolls
head inside a tea cup. I believe this is a rather controversial and
strange image which will really force the idea of my artist being
alternative and the overall theme of the album. In my analysis of
Florence and Machine’s digipak for “Lungs”, this was also a
technique she used to represent her alternative style by having an
image of lungs on her digipak disc. This was a very strange image
to use and therefore allowed her to show how she is alternative.
The doll’s head is a prop that is very iconic to my music video as
my artist is shown pulling a dolls head off therefore this was also
a good technique to link my digipak and music video together.
The teacup links with the tea party theme of my music video also
as well as showing a cute theme against a rather harsh theme.
Most of my video is shots of my artist appearing sweet one
minute and then another dark and strange. I have ensured the
theme of dark and cute themes as well as used similar images to
my music video to really link my printwork with my video which I
believe will really build the image and style of my artist to the
audience.

5. Inside covers
BEFORE
For one of my inside covers I have used an image of my model posing
with the dolls head which is shown on my digipak disc. I believe this
was a good idea to keep a theme running within my digipak as well as
creating an alternative and unusual image of my artist. My artist is
dressed in very cute and girly clothing but is pulling a very sinister
facial expression and holding the dolls head in her hands. This again
further creates the idea of her having a dark side to her cute
demeanour and keeps with the dark personality of my artist vs the
sweet personalit theme which runs throughout my music video. On all
of my inside covers I have put small amounts of text with some of the
most iconic lyrics of my chosen song for my music video. This is a
technique any artist’s use within their digipaks therefore I thought it
would be a good idea to incorporate within my own digipak. The
lyrics are written in bold capital letters which creates a rather
unsettling vibe when linked together with the mysterious and strange
image of my artist with the dolls head and the sinister undertone of
music video overall.

6. BEFORE
Like my discussion on the previous slide about
one of my inside covers, I have also put some
text with the lyrics on my song on this inside
cover. I decided to use a shot which was a
close up of my artist’s face to show her serious
facial expression. I did this as I thought it
would make the album more personal to my
artist as well as showing the serious tone to
the digipak and music video. The use of lots of
close up and mid shots of my artist ensures
she is being promoted and being represented
the target audience.
FINAL DESIGN
7. BEFORE
This is my final inside cover and I decided to
use this image as I believe against the harsher
themes of my other inside covers and disc, this
image shows the sweet and friendly side to my
artist as well as displaying the tea party theme
within my music video by using a shot which
ensures all the tea party props are being
shown. The lyrics are written lower case and
not as bold as the inside cover with the dolls
head. I believe this is a good technique to use
when showing the softer side to my artist.
