2. WHAT I EXPECT TO HAPPENED?
I expect to happened the following:
• To learn the meaning of the DIGESTIVE SYSTEM.
• To learn the function of the DIGESTIVE SYSTEM.
• To learn the different parts of the DIGESTIVE SYSTEM.
• To learn how the DIGESTIVE SYSTEM works.
3. WHAT THE FUDGE IS A DIGESTIVE
SYSTEM?
• Digestive System- group of organs by means of which food is converted to a form the
cells can use.
4. WHAT ARE THE PARTS OF IT?
• Mouth
• Esophagus
• Stomach
• Liver
• Pancreas
• Gallbladder
• Small Intestine
• Large Intestine
• Rectum
• Anus
5. WHERE IT ALL STARTS?
• Mouth- in people and animals, the opening through which food is taken in and
through which sounds come.
6. AFTER THE MOUTH, WHAT’S NEXT?
• Esophagus- the food tube or gullet which connects the mouth and stomach.
7. WHAT CAN YOU FIND AT THE END OF THE
ESOPHAGUS?
• Stomach- part of the alimentary canal that links the esophagus and the intestine.
Prepares food for assimilation in the intestine.
8. WHAT ARE THE 2 INTESTINES?
• Small Intestine- or small bowel is the part of the gastrointestinal tract between the
stomach and the large intestine, and is where most of the end absorption of food
takes place.
9. WHAT ARE THE 2 INTESTINES?
• Large Intestine- the posterior division of the vertebrate intestine consisting of the
cecum, colon and rectum and functioning especially in the removal of water from
digestive residues to form feces.
10. WHERE THE FECES GO?
• Rectum- the lower part of the large intestine between the colon and the anal canal.
11. WHERE IT ALL ENDS?
• Anus- opening of the alimentary canal to the outside.
12. WHAT ARE THE ACCESSORY ORGANS?
• Liver- Large organ of a vertebrate that has a number of functions including:
regulation of the amount of carbohydrates, fats and proteins in the blood; production
of bile (used in the digestion of fats); removal of poisons and worn-out red blood cells
from the blood; and storage of iron and vitamins.
13. WHAT ARE THE ACCESSORY ORGANS?
• Pancreas- a large elongated grandular organ lying near the stomach.
14. WHAT ARE THE ACCESSORY ORGANS?
• Gallbladder- sac beneath the liver which stores bile and secretes mucus.
