1. Development of my ideas
Frank Styles documentary
My first idea is to do a documentary on Frank Styles' work. It was my first idea as I saw his work
throughout Sunderland and the Northeast. I am going to include an interview and ask him broad
questions about his art, career, and future. I want to film the interview at one of his artwork locations, I
am going to get Frank to choose the location to make it more personal as the artwork could be one that
he is most proud of, popular and personal to him. The type of content I want to collect would be
interview footage and some cinematic shots of his artwork through the documentary. The type of shots I
want to create is medium close – to have Frank in the middle of the frame at eye level and create direct
mode of address. For the cinematic shots I want to create cut away and create a sound bridge.
Stadium of Light concerts
My third idea is a documentary on artists coming to the Stadium of Light. There have been loads of
artists performing at the stadium throughout the years and I want to show the diversity, communities
and how these concerts bring the people of Sunderland together. I am going to talk about how these
concerts do not only attract the people of Sunderland to see them, but also people will travel down to
Sunderland because there might not be a venue in their city. Also, I am going to talk about if you are a
2. season ticket holder for the local Sunderland AFC football club, you get priority of seats. This means that
being part of Sunderland and their events has their benefits.
“Short film about eating disorder”
I want to create a short film about a young girl who is struggling with eating. I am going to include how it
affects her day-to-day life, family, friends, her own life, and many other reasons. I want to create this
documentary to show how challenging life can be for someone suffering from eating and how people
who do not go through it will not understand.
Problem solving
My first idea did not work out because the person I was going to do it with did not reply to me, and it
seemed like he was not interested in helping me with my project.
I decided I wanted to do a short film about eating disorders as I struggle with food and body image
which will make this project more personal, and I can talk about it and show through a personal
standard as well as making it more aware to people.
