2. MY IDEA
My idea is to highlight the amazing concerts the Stadium of
Light has held over the years. I want to capture how these
concerts no matter the artist and genre has brought people
together and formed a community through music. I want to
show that age, generation, gender, and interests do not
matter as music communities are for everyone. These
concerts have diverse types of people who might know have
come together in another event but when it comes down to
music, everyone has a place. The people of Sunderland every
year will be interested in who is performing at the Stadium of
Light and will be pleased to see people from their local area
come together. People might even see people they know who
they did not know were interested in the artists, which could
be true but as they are performing at the Stadium of Light,
they have come to be part of Sunderland’s music culture.
As the Stadium of Light is a football stadium, these concerts
bring two diverse groups of people together; by giving season
ticket holders priority tickets, this means people might just go
because their dedication of being a football fan has been
recognized and they want to go to be part of more Sunderland
culture’s activities.
3. MY AIMS
My aim is to highlight how good of a city Sunderland is
and how if the city had more opportunities people
would appreciate it a lot more; if we had more venues
and events held here the city would become a lot
more popular. I feel like Sunderland gets overlooked
when it comes to events because the likes of
Newcastle is a bigger city which means there are a lot
more events and cultural activities going on. If
Sunderland starts to be more outgoing and
generational for all we would have more people going
to events, spending more time in Sunderland City
center than going to other places around the
Northeast.
4. HOW MY IDEA FITS THE
REQUIREMENT
My idea fits the requirements because I highlight Sunderland’s culture
through the different events they host throughout the year. I am showing
how these events hosted at the Stadium of Light bring people from all over
Sunderland together for the nights and be part of a community and part of
Sunderland’s culture. I also include how if you are part of Sunderland’s
cultural football club you can get priority tickets over people who are not a
season ticket holder. I want to promote how the Stadium of Light is a good
venue for all music artists and should be more recognized for future
events.
5. RESEARCH
Over the years the Stadium of Light has hosted performers such as Take that,
Oasis, P!nk, Kings of Leon, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, The E-street band, Red
hot chili peppers, Bon Jovi, Rihanna, One Direction, Foo Fighters, Beyonce, Spice
girls, Ed Sheeran, Elton John. A few of these artists have performed more than
once.
In 2024 Bruce Springsteen is going to perform. There hasn’t been anyone else
lined up for 2024 to perform.
There are a lot of diverse genres and artists who have performed and are going
to perform.
6. SUBJECT
AREA
When researching the subject area I realized that Sunderland Culture
who is my client plays a huge role because of the different programmes
they offer.
Music is also a culture it self because of the amount of different genres,
music artists and bands. Knowing this as the stadium has hosted and
will continue to host different artists and bands, they are bringing
different music artists and band cultures to their stadium and city,
which means on these nights Sunderland will have so many different
culture.
7. MY SCHEDULE
Wednesday – getting information for my documentary
Tuesday getting information for documentary
Wednesday putting onto blogger (organization)
Thursday starting creative process
Friday creative process
Timeline
I would be starting the filming process once all of the pre-production is completed. This is so I know the location/s I am going to film at
and which one I am going to start at first. I also would start once my script is finished so I know the order of what I am filming. Once I have
these completed, I will start my first draft of filming then edit the footage. This first draft will allow me to understand what the
documentary will look like (rough cut), then I can decide if I should add in more information, cinematics and voice overs.
8. CLIENT RESEARCH
Sunderland culture is a registered charity that relies on generous support. They bring together Sunderland’s cherished cultural
assets and activities to show the city’s potential. They have loads of distinct locations that are in various parts of Sunderland.
Their aim is to improve life for everyone living in Sunderland; they want to do this through art, heritage, and culture. They
encourage as many people as possible to get involved to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in Sunderland. This
information helps me understand what the client is wanting from me from my final documentary. Also knowing this information
is helpful for me as I know what they offer and what I should include and how I can make my documentary related to what they
provide for Sunderland.
9. RESEARCHIN
G
INTO TARGE
T AUDIENCE
The audience that would be interested in this documentary are people interested in music
and concerts. The audience might know the artists but might not listen to them, but this
documentary is not about the music it is about Sunderland culture and how music is part of
it. This documentary could also be for people interested in the Stadium of Light as they host
football games, concerts and events.
I have created a googles forms survey asking relevant questions about documentaries,
music, concert venues and if they prefer to travel or stay local, if possible, for the concert.
These questions have helped me to understand my audience and if they will be interested in
my documentary. Finding out if people prefer to stay local if possible is helpful as it will tell
me if people would go to the Stadium of Light for a concert than travelling for the artist.
