I. Title of the Study :
A Study of Relationship between the Study
Habit and Scholastic Achievement of the Class X
Students studying in the Secondary Schools of
Papum Pare District.
II. Introduction
 State how study habit is important for achievement of
students
 Cite few related studies carried out in this area.
 State the importance and significance of the study.
III. Objectives of the Study
 The major objective of the study is to find out if there is any
relationship between the study habit of the Class X students studying
in the secondary schools of Papum Pare District and their scholastic
achievement. The minor objectives of the study are :
i) To find out the level of study habit of the Class X boys and girls
students studying in the secondary schools of Papum Pare district.
ii) To find out the level of scholastic achievement of the boys and girls
Class X students…….
iii) To find out the difference in study habit of boys and girls Class X
students…..
iv) To find out the difference in study habit of Class X boys and girls …
v) To study the relationship between study habit and scholastic
achievement of Class X ….

The following hypotheses have been formulated:
i) There is no significant difference between the study
habit of Class X boys and Girls studying in …

scholastic achievement of Class X boys and girls…

habit and scholastic achievement of Class X students

VI. Methodology of Research
i) Method : Normative Survey method will be adopted in the study as we are
going to study the relationship between study habit and scholastic
achievement of the students.
ii) Population : All the Class X students studying in the secondary schools of
Papum Pare District of Arunachal Pradesh.
iii) Sample : From the … secondary schools …… schools will be selected using
random simple random sampling technique. From each school 10 girls and
10 boys Class X students will be selected using stratified random sampling
technique.
iv) Tools to be used :
a) A study habit scale shall be constructed and standardized by the
researcher.
b) The marks obtained by the students in the Class X Board examination
will be taken as the measure of scholastic achievement of the students
c) A questionnaire to be constructed by the researcher for the students to
elicit information about their study habit.
v) Procedure of Data Collection : The researcher will
himself/herself administer the scale and the
questionnaire among the students. The marks of the
students obtained in the Class X Board Examination
will be collected from the offices of the principals of
the schools.
vi) Data Analysis :
For finding out the levels of study habit and scholastic
achievement of the students mean, standard
deviation, skewness and kurtosis will be calculated.
For testing the hypotheses i and ii t-test will be used
and for testing hypothesis iii product moment of
correlation will be calculated.
VII. Delimitation of the Study
 The study will be delimited in the following aspects :
 Only the secondary schools under the State Board of
Education will be included in the study.
 Only the students who are studying in Class X in 2012
– 2013 session will be included in the sample.

  • 3. Sample of a Research Proposal I. Title of the Study : A Study of Relationship between the Study Habit and Scholastic Achievement of the Class X Students studying in the Secondary Schools of Papum Pare District.
  • 4. II. Introduction  State how study habit is important for achievement of students  Cite few related studies carried out in this area.  State the importance and significance of the study.
  • 5. III. Objectives of the Study  The major objective of the study is to find out if there is any relationship between the study habit of the Class X students studying in the secondary schools of Papum Pare District and their scholastic achievement. The minor objectives of the study are : i) To find out the level of study habit of the Class X boys and girls students studying in the secondary schools of Papum Pare district. ii) To find out the level of scholastic achievement of the boys and girls Class X students……. iii) To find out the difference in study habit of boys and girls Class X students….. iv) To find out the difference in study habit of Class X boys and girls … v) To study the relationship between study habit and scholastic achievement of Class X ….

Methodology of Research i) Method : Normative Survey method will be adopted in the study as we are going to study the relationship between study habit and scholastic achievement of the students. ii) Population : All the Class X students studying in the secondary schools of Papum Pare District of Arunachal Pradesh. iii) Sample : From the … secondary schools …… schools will be selected using random simple random sampling technique. From each school 10 girls and 10 boys Class X students will be selected using stratified random sampling technique. iv) Tools to be used : a) A study habit scale shall be constructed and standardized by the researcher. b) The marks obtained by the students in the Class X Board examination will be taken as the measure of scholastic achievement of the students c) A questionnaire to be constructed by the researcher for the students to elicit information about their study habit.
  • 9. v) Procedure of Data Collection : The researcher will himself/herself administer the scale and the questionnaire among the students. The marks of the students obtained in the Class X Board Examination will be collected from the offices of the principals of the schools. vi) Data Analysis : For finding out the levels of study habit and scholastic achievement of the students mean, standard deviation, skewness and kurtosis will be calculated. For testing the hypotheses i and ii t-test will be used and for testing hypothesis iii product moment of correlation will be calculated.
  • 10. VII. Delimitation of the Study  The study will be delimited in the following aspects :  Only the secondary schools under the State Board of Education will be included in the study.  Only the students who are studying in Class X in 2012 – 2013 session will be included in the sample.
