Daniel Peter, a Salesforce MVP, gave a presentation on Einstein Next Best Action. He demonstrated how to build recommendation strategies using Strategy Builder to customize recommendations for any object. Strategies can include rules and AI by connecting to predictive models through Apex. Some tips included writing formulas directly in Strategy Builder and using dynamic screen flows to launch from recommendations, although passing the recommendation ID is currently limited. The full capabilities of Next Best Action, such as packaging strategies, are still developing.

Spring Boot allows creating standalone Spring applications with minimal configuration. It makes assumptions about dependencies and provides default configurations. It aims to provide a faster development experience for Spring. Some key Spring Boot components include auto-configuration, core functionality, CLI, actuator for monitoring, and starters for common dependencies. Dave provided a walk you through of how to set-up, develop and use Payara Micro to run applications deployed in a Payara Micro cluster.

Mike Croft from Payara gave a presentation on using Payara Micro for Java EE microservices. Payara Micro is a lightweight (~58MB) and embeddable Java EE server based on GlassFish. The presentation demonstrated how to easily start and deploy applications on Payara Micro both locally and on AWS EC2 using Vagrant. It also showed running Payara Micro in Docker containers.

The last few years have been pretty exciting for Java with new versions of EE and SE platforms. Java EE, introduced a new API to build WebSockets; a new API to parse, process and generate JSON; a new Client API in JAX-RS to invoke REST services, and finally the Batch Processing API to build batch applications. Java SE brought us the long awaited Lambda expressions; the powerful Streams API to perform operations like filtering, mapping or sorting in a very easy and fluent way, and a brand new Date Time API, to deal with the complexities of Timezones and Periods. This session will explore the usage of the new Java 8 API's, combined with some of the new and existing features of Java EE. It will mostly be a live coding session where I plan to combine Java 8 Lambdas, Streams and DateTime API's with JPA, CDI, REST, Websockets and Batch.

Securing Microservices with MicroProfile and Auth0v2

Secure JAX-RS
With the rise of micro-services, REST communication is more popular than ever. But the communication between the different parts must also be performed in a secure way.
First, we need to know if the user or system is allowed to call the JAX-RS endpoint. For this authentication part, self-contained tokens are the best option to not overload any of our services in the system. JWT which contains the authentication but also can contain the authorization info is ideal for this use-case.
And secondly, we need guarantees that the message isn't altered, that we can have message integrity. For that part, we can use signatures as specified in the HTTP signature draft specification.

The goal of MicroProfile is to optimise Java EE for a micro-service architecture. It is based on some of the Java EE specifications and standardise a few technologies from the micro-services space.

Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Artificial Intelligence for XMLDevelopment
In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) present new methodologies for enhancing XML development workflows, introducing efficiency, automation, and intelligent capabilities. This presentation will outline the scope and perspective of utilizing AI in XML development. The potential benefits and the possible pitfalls will be highlighted, providing a balanced view of the subject.
We will explore the capabilities of AI in understanding XML markup languages and autonomously creating structured XML content. Additionally, we will examine the capacity of AI to enrich plain text with appropriate XML markup.
