Capacity is defined as the maximum amount of data that can be transferred over a network path. There are three common data rates used to estimate capacity: peak data rate, which is the fastest transfer speed available in short bursts; sustained data rate, which measures the total data delivered over time and is used to improve system performance; and minimum data rate, which is the slowest transfer speed and is important for applications like video streaming that require a consistent data flow.
