BA 447
International Business
Week 2: Toilet Behavior
The toilet behaviors of the countries of Japan and Russia will be summarized and compared in this
paper to examine if the bathroom behaviors f these two countries are similar or whether they vastly
differ. In Japan, some of the customary bathroom etiquette includes:
Sitting down on the toilet instead of squatting. This prevents fecal matter from being dropped and
left on the toilet seat.
Flushing the toilet paper that was used to clean yourself down the toilet. In some countries in Asia
and Central and South America, the used toilet paper is placed in the trash bin creating a very foul
odor.
Before entering the bathroom, put on bathroom slippers to wear while using the bathroom.

Theme Of The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall
Analysis of The Jilting of Granny Weatherall
The literary and narrative techniques in a piece of writing are used to make up the story.
Characters, setting, plot, and symbols are just a few of the possible elements that authors use to
create a story. Each of these qualities are important to develop a storyline, in which readers can
relate and understand. Like all literature The Jilting of Granny Weatherall , written by Katherine
Anne Porter, is constructed of literary and narrative techniques. The way Porter portrays these
techniques allows readers to understand the theme of betrayal. The Jilting of Granny Weatherall
uses characters and symbolism to demonstrate the impact of betrayal and disappointment and how
it changes a person s life.
Since literature revolves around and is told through characters, they are necessary for creating
stories. In the Jilting of Granny Weatherall , the characters include Granny, Cornelia, Jimmy,
Lydia, Hapsy, Doctor Harry, Father Connolley, the Nurse, John, and George. While many of the
characters have necessary roles in the plot, the use of John and George most effectively display
the theme of betrayal. These two characters are important for readers to pay attention to because
of their influences on Granny s life. Granny s feelings toward George and her late husband, John,
reveal how being abandoned completely changed her and gave her a tough outlook on life. During
a flashback, Granny recalls when she put on the white veil and set out

Where The Girl On The Sea Are Short Story
WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE
I perched myself upon a weathered rock. My footprints left tattoos in the sand. The wind was
etherized in the sky. The sun smoldered in silence. Centered in a quiet oasis, the blue beast howled.
It stretched out before me like the land was coated in oil paints: cerulean and cyan, electric and
Egyptian, teal and turquoise.
The moment that I stood before this righteous beast was captured and bottled up in my beloved
father s camera.
This flimsy piece of paper is a portal. It is a portal to a girl who left her worries at the shore, on that
smooth and cold rock. Who left the marks of her bare feet across the velvety sands. Who
embraced the ocean like it was a bed of sapphire, silk sheets. Who let the frigid ... Show more

Under stacks of photographs of my birth, my sister s birth, and my father s birth, an image of a
little girl, perched on a smooth and cold rock, lay. It was out of place among our birth photos and I
pulled it out to put it among the vacation pictures. A hazy smile tugged at my lips.
I remembered her. A wild girl from the sea, with stormy eyes and seaweed hair. I remembered her
untamed rage and her indestructible heart. My insides squirmed at the memory, at the girl whose
bones snapped and whose blood boiled and whose skin tore. They squirmed at the thought of who I
d become, a blue light locked under a bell jar.
My squirming turned to fidgeting and kicking and screaming and roaring and tearing and red
radical rage. I burned with my regret as fuel. I tore up the fragile skin that held me captive.
My mother and father have sat me down and told me that I was born to put on latex gloves and
operate on the sick, or stand before a judge and make defend the innocent, or swear to protect the
citizens of my city with a gold lacquered badge and gun.
As I held that photograph in my polished fingers, I realized that my fate was not where I had
guessed. That I was not to live a tranquil life among the people who raised me.
I realized that I was meant to be before beasts with bare feet and wide eyes. That my place was
not in offices and cubicles, nor was it among the stars. My fate was entwined in the vines of the
jungle, in the fur of tigers, in the claws

Essay On British Imperialism
Consolidating the British Empire:
The British Empire was an empire on which the sun never set. Lasting for over three hundred years,
Britain became the global hegemonic power of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. From the
wilds of Australia, to the fertile lands of Africa, the British Empireruled over a quarter of the world
s population. With the empire ever expanding, visual and material culture became relied upon to
help consolidate the empire. Overall, whether an advertisement for soap, or the funeral for Dr.
Livingstone, visual and material culture was at the forefront of British imperialism.
Although Britain abolished slavery in 1833, the shackles of racism remained. In the late nineteenth
and early twentieth centuries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With soap seen as a magical medium capable of enforcing or enlarging British power in the
colonial world... (McClintock, 225), by buying the soap, Brits could actively partake in imperialism
without having to go across the globe.
As aforementioned, with the abolishment of slavery, scientific racism emerged. As seen in the
political cartoon, Am I not a Man or a Brother? , negative stereotypes emerged comparing
Africans to simians. Created as a satire of the monogenetic vs. polygenetic debate, the cartoon
makes fun of the abolition slogan Am I not a Man or a Brother? . Asserting Africans inferiority on
a sub human level, the cartoon brings into question the entire abolition movement. Why grant
freedom to a race of people that are no more biologically separate from an ape? Africans were seen
by many as a different species... (Pettit, 45).
The negative stereotype of Africans to apes is seen throughout the visual culture of Great
Britain. However, the image of simians, was used to depict other negative stereotypes such as
working women as seen in the Monkey Brand Soap Ad. In the Monkey Brand Soap Ad, we see a
monkey extending a frying pan to catch the few dollars spared by passerbys. Monkey Brand Soap
promised... to magically erase the unseemly spectacle of women s manual labor (McClintock ,
215). During the Victorian Era, women were not to inhabit the private sphere, doing domestic work
in the home. For women who worked publicly

Multinational Corporation s Influence on Government Policy; Case Study of
PT. Freeport Indonesia
In the last few decades of the 20th century, the rapid transformation of the industrial world took a
new form. The economy is one of the areas experiencing striking changes in these times. What is
certain is the emergence of multinational companies, to some extent, open up opportunities for
economic globalization. The economic growth in the 19th century in many developed countries are
originated from international capital movements that growing rapidly at the time. Mobility of
factors of production that occurred between the states reached its breaking point with the presence
of multinational companies. Perhaps, the most important developments in international economic
relations during the last three decades is the amazing surge of strength and influence of large
multinational corporations. They are the main distributor of various factors of production, capital,
labor and production technology, all in a massive scale, from one country to another.

Casual Employment in Australia
Introduction Over the past decades, casual employment in Australia has become a phenomenon of
great concern. With the soaring numbers of casual employment, the debates about the benefits and
drawbacks of causal employment have become fiercer. Casualization is a very important form of
employment in Australia, which has been protected by workplace law. The majority of casual
labor force constantly contact with their potential employers to apply job and confirm the
arrangement of working time from month to month, or even week to week. In term of wages,
causal workers cannot get paid for the annual holiday leave. However, they can receive more paid
than the full time workers for the same working hours. In this essay, how casual... Show more

Of course, casual employment is not the only reason for problems in the human resource market.
There is no denying that causal workers are also important components of labor force, just like
permanent employees and self employed workers. However, most of people agree that causal
labor forces are the most vulnerable group in the job market. When it comes to the influence of
casual employment on the economy and individual enterprises, there is little agreement on this
issue. Many small companies strongly support casual employees, for the payment for casual
employees is far lower than the fixed employees. Some enterprises go even further, which hire the
entire workforce from the casual employment group. Apart from the reason that casual
employment can save the cost of the companies, flexibility is also an important reason for them to
select casual workers. There are also other managers who maintain that causal employees are not a
wise choice for all the companies. This is because many causal workers are poor in skill and
productivity with low commitment to the enterprise. Casual employment may meet the short term
demand for both employees and employers, but it may lead to the constraint of dynamic
productivity and innovation. This is not in accordance with the long run interests for employers. To
distinguish the benefits of employers from the benefits of whole economy is also

Identity Of The American Identity
The American culture is made up of bits and pieces combined into one American Identity.
Throughout the process of finding this identity, came with courage, religion, and fear. These
three concepts provide compelling examples and experiences that have shaped Americans into
the best country there is. Having courage in life is often half the battle. John Smith encounters
so many hardships that prove he dares to keep pursuing his goal. Eventually, after defeating and
beheading a succession of three Turkish officers in single combat in Rumania, Smith was
wounded in battle, taken as a prisoner and sold into slavery to a Turk. Smith was passed from
place to place until held prisoner on the Black Sea, he murdered his master and fled back to
Rumania via Russia and Poland, returning to England in the winter of 1604 05. (Smith, pp. 82).
Most people at this point would typically become slightly discouraged because he has gotten beaten
up and is questioning if he can accomplish this or fail. The lesson we should take from Smith in this
story is that no matter how hard things get if you have a goal achieve it. There will defiantly be
hardships that come your way, but nothing in this life comes easy. For example, the British
encounter many hardships such as hunger, sickness, and unfamiliarity. Being thrown into adapting
to new situations is often hard. The natives saw many things they were not accustomed to, a few of
which include, muskets, clothes, horses, compasses, and

Essay on Edna’s Suicide in The Awakening
The Awakening by Kate Chopin ends with the death of the main character, Edna Pontellier.
Stripping off her clothes, she swims out to sea until her arms can no longer support her, and she
drowns. It was not necessarily a suicide, neither was it necessarily the best option for escaping her
problems. We are told that she walks down to the beach rather mechanically, (Chopin 108) and that
she doesn t think about much, other than the heat of the sun. This doesn t seem terribly interesting
until we read that the reason she isn t thinking is because she had, done all the thinking which was
necessary after Robert went away, when she lay awake upon the sofa till morning. (Chopin 108)
This means that she has already planned exactly what she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Clearly, she feels that drowning herself in the sea is the best way that she can elude her children.
After walking into the sea, she begins to swim. There are several instances where we are told that
she grows progressively more tired. Since she has thought so much about this swim, she should
have known to turn back at the first sign of exhaustion. But she doesn t. She continues on to her
ultimate death, apparently understanding and willing. Comparatively, there seems very little
evidence to say that it was not suicide. A large part of any argument for just death stems from her
impulsiveness, and that she could ve been struck with the urge to swim very far out without
thinking of the consequences. This argument is not terribly valid since we are told that she has, in
fact, thought about her trip to the beach quite a lot. She also goes on and on...thinking it [the sea]
had no beginning and no end, (Chopin 109) and yet still decides to continue swimming. Her
thoughts right before her death offer a plausible, non suicidal ending. She seems to understand that
her life didn t have to end now, that perhaps Dr. Mandelet would have understood (Chopin 109) if
only she had the strength to swim back. But she didn t have the strength, so she died. Even though

Abstract To obstruct Non Licensees from driving and causing accidents, a new advanced
automobile system is proposed. An important, trustful and very reliable human identification
method in current dates is fingerprint identification. Fingerprint identification is one of the most
popular, trustful and reliable personal biometric identification methods. The proposed system
contains a database, it saves the fingerprint of a particular person. While issuing the License, the
specific person s fingerprint is to be saved in the database. Vehicles such as cars, bikes etc. should
have a fingerprint reader and have accomplished to read data of the particular person s License

Some things are hard for people to understand. Like how anyone could be proud of nasty, yellow

Primary Differences In Ancient Egyptian Religion
The ancient Egyptian civilization began in ca. 2700 until 1075 BC. The Egyptians depended on
the Nile River for their economy, rural, and religion. During the middle and new kingdoms in
Egypt, the Israelites were slaves, but God delivered them out of Egypt. There are the primary
differences are the worship, purpose of man, and life after death. The first primary difference
between Egyptian religion and Biblical Truth is worship. The Egyptians worshiped and
believed in many gods. The worship of many gods is called polytheism. These gods were
invented my man and they were untrue. Some of these gods were Horus, Isis, Ra, Osiris, Amun,
Anubis, and many more. In the Bible, it states that there is only One True God, God of the Bible.
We should worship our One True God only. In 1 Corinthians 8:6 says, Yet for us there is only one

The Issue Of Paper Mill Closures And A Bad Reputation For...
Paper, Pollutants, Politics, and Precaution
The paper industry here in Maine is struggling with mill closures and a bad reputation for being
wasteful or bad for the environment. The issue of paper mills being an added stress to the
environment is not unique to Maine. Mills in Wisconsin are also very wasteful, producing toxins in
the air, soil, and water. In one river in Wisconsin, two hundred fifty thousand pounds of sediment is
said to have been contaminated with manufactured organic chemicals used by the paper mills
(Environmental Impacts of the Paper Industry, 2016). The Environmental protection agency has
become involved in the issue by estimating the movement of about one hundred sixty thousand
pounds of sediment from that river to adjoining lakes, river, and bays (Environmental Impacts of
the Paper Industry, 2016). Restricting access from these locations would be pointless if a natural
disaster occurred, possibly washing the contaminated soil to populated areas (Environmental
Impacts of the Paper Industry, 2016). Not only does the paper industry s chemical waste enter the
water systems, it also enters the air. The particulate matter entering the air includes carbon dioxide,
nitrous oxides, sulfur dioxides, carbon monoxides and particulates. These contribute to ozone
warnings, acid rain, global warming and respiratory problems (Environmental Impacts of the Paper
Industry, 2016). The paper making process also consumes huge amounts of energy, drawing from

this presumably safe trip, a vicious civil war occurred only two weeks into our vacation. Bombs

individuals who have exemplified some of these ideas in recent history, and some are currently
practicing them. The ideas of transcendentalismbegan showing up in the 1830 s and were founded
by Ralph Waldo Emerson. He reveals this idea to the public in his literary work Nature. The basic
beliefs of Transcendentalism include individuality, simplicity, and nature. The major key
proponents of these ideas are men and women such as Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., and Pope
Francis. These people express transcendentalism through their actions and values; most notably
individuality and simplicity. Within the value of individuality is to stand up for your individual

Public Education In The 1800s
The idea of education has advanced throughout history, constantly shifting by societal ideals and
human evolvement. This change is especially prominent during the 1800s and continues to alter to
this very day with education policies. Public education first began during the Industrial Revolution.
During this crucial time in history, many children were required to get an educationin order to learn
the trades of the growing economy and business as opposed to getting hurt in from hazardous
machinery. These skills were limited reading, writing, and math. Ultimately, from this concept,
public education was founded and from then, our society has grown into a well educated

These singular pieces must match and intertwine to create a scenic picture. Individuals must
realize that they are part of something bigger than themselves, for the wellbeing of society.
Education, along with a diploma, is physical proof that you can succeed in your profession as a
functional being, fitting perfectly in an operative society. Moreover, with education, the idea of
a good society will be further enforced. A good society as defined by Draper and Ramsay (6), is
a society that can prosper by giving its citizens basic physical rights such as security and health.
Furthermore, a good society should lend its citizens a political voice and give its people access to
education that will help they make their own conclusions. To emphasize the last point, the essay
states, People who are illiterate are said to be blind , which is an interesting allusion to Plato s
allegory. By stressing individualism througheducation, a student can access their toolbox of senses
and resources as they adventure as a puzzle piece of society. Some people who do not pursue
higher education are therefore not as well equipped. As Plato (306) would say, I think that he would

There are many causes/factors that lead to obesity but researchers identify genetics, overeating

A tool known as BMI (body mass index) is used by medical providers to calculate an individual s
body mass index. It calculated by measuring a child s weight and height and the found value is
then compared to percentiles relative to other children of the same age and sex. For example, if
a child aged anywhere from 2 19 is more than 85% and less than 95% they are considered
overweight. (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2009). This tool is not a method used to
diagnosis childhood obesity but it s a valuable way to measure the prevalence of obesity
worldwide. Introduction: In 1998 the World Health Organization announced that obesity had
become an epidemic in both adults and children. This epidemic is a major concern in public
health yet many countries are failing to address the issue. The purpose of this paper is to discuss
the causes contributing to this increasing epidemic of childhood obesity. There are many causes
that factor into childhood obesity but I will focus specifically on genetics, overeating, and the lack
of exercise. Of the many countries struggling to combat obesity Japan came up with their own
solution. The article titled: Japan Has Cut Obesity to 3.5% in a Controversial Way That Wouldn t

The Island (1973) Athol Fugard

The Island is a Fugard play that resorts to the Classics to protest Apartheid.
It takes place in four scenes, opening with a lengthy mimed sequence in which John and Winston,
two cell mates in prison on Robben Island, carry out one of the totally pointless and exhausting
tasks designed by warders to break the spirit of political prisoners.
Winston has been sentenced to prison for life because he burned his passbook in front of a police

John has been imprisoned for belonging to a banned organization.

The Kingdom of God operates somewhat backward, it is in the losing we find our true success.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like, when one day you stand in front of Almighty God?
Most people have misconceptions about God s judgement.
It is not based on your worldly success, how many gold medals you won, how much wisdom,
knowledge or education you acquired? Neither it would be about the wealth you have accumulated.
It is not going to be about how influential you have been, nor about how many books you have
written, or the numerous demons you have cast away. Many will be surprised knowing that true
success was never about them, but all about God.
When Jesus died on the cross it was all about us. Likewise, our lives are meant to be all about
glorifying God, fulfilling His will and purpose for our lives. Live your life then, in such a way, that
when the day comes and you stand before The Son of God, He would say to you, well done my
good and faithful servant, you have succeeded in fulfilling my will and accomplished my
purpose for your life. So we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are at home in the body or
away from it. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may

have prayed about this, and asked close friends to pray over this as well. I truly come to you
humbly to share what God has been speaking to my heart in this most difficult season of my life
and perhaps it will encourage, challenge and edify you as well. I want to share with you about
idols, the body and walls.
God graciously, yes, graciously and lovingly removed an idol in my life this summer. Yes, it was

Feed By M. T. Anderson Analysis
Today s society is fueled by marketing and consumerism, which is detrimental to our environment.
Throughout the novel Feed, M.T Anderson uses a futuristic society as an scathing indictment of our
current consumer habits. This is best demonstrated by the use of multiple related themes. Many
abrasive marketingtechniques used by multinational conglomerates are designed to prey on middle
and working class consumers. Thus creating a higher demand for product manufacturing. This
higher demand in return increases environmental pressures, due to an unregulated private
manufacturing sector.
Two relevant themes that relate to each other are Because it is built into things we use every day,
marketing is inescapableВЁ and Negligent consumerism is destructive to the environmentВЁ.
These two themes relate to each throughout novel. With that being said, marketing is widely
demonstrated all through our daily lives because of the modern societal use of products that are
brought to our attention day in and day out. Whereas abrasive marketing tactics become more
prevalent in the average consumer s daily habits. The draconian nature behind marketing is easily

For many people, the property is seen as such an investment. According to the 2013 Daft.ie
Rental Report gross property yields on average across Ireland are 6%. In Dublin, the yields
range from 5.2% in South County Dublin to 8.1% in Dublin City Centre. Rent levels continue to
grow year on year. Access to the property is still quite difficult due to lack of property supply in
desirable areas and a lack of access to finance. Of course, it is impossible to predict how the
market will fare in the coming years and so, as with any investment, there is a risk of the yield on
investment reducing. Using your pension to buy property Individuals considering whether to invest
in the property market might consider using their pension funds to purchase the property. One of
the main benefits of using a pension fund to purchase property is that you can use monies which
have not been subject to income tax to purchase the property. Property purchased outside a pension
fund is purchased from post income tax proceeds or else purchased using borrowings that must be
repaid using post tax income. Given the current marginal rates of tax, up to a maximum of 55%, it
is clear that significant savings can be made by using your pension fund to invest in property rather
than investing through after tax income. Of course, not all individuals have control of where their

Abel sprang into action and immediately dressed him up for the funereal and ran to go get the

is self centered and bases his responses to himself and to the outside world on his own unique
perceptions. This is exactly what Abel did. He thought this is what he should do. He had to get

extremely upset by this and immediately takes off running. Running can be viewed as a way for
Abel to relieve tension as people with Autism must do. Furthermore, many believe Abel s jumpy

Why Did Ancient Astronomers Study
Star Spotters by David Jefferis 8 202
Question: How did ancient astronomers study the sky?
Answer: These people used their eyes to look at the stars, moon, and sun. They also used an
astrolabe which could pinpoint and predict the moon, stars, planets, and sun s location. This
information helped them know when to plant their crops.
Question: What positive things does the sun do for us?
Answer: Life on Earth wouldn t be possible without the sun. It gives us light and warmth. Also, by
studying the sun, we can predict weather forecasts. These aided farmers in knowing when they
should plant and harvest their crops. The sun s energy also helps power many electrical appliances
on Earth and in space.

The impact of overhead
As it stands right now the push back on reducing overhead support costs comes from a general

of utilizing support resource as it is largely untracked. By measuring Business Unit support resource
usage we can determine where our resources are being spent, and also bring this information up to

Conservative Movement Thesis
Carter s thesis is: Although the Conservative Movement gained followers through careful
advertisement and presentation of candidates in the 20th century, their agenda was mainly aided by
racist social opinions, anti welfare economic movements, and commercial displaying of candidates.
George Wallace (Democrat) led a social movement so angry and powerful that he forced Richard
Nixon (Republican) to learn the art of fully exploiting white voter s racial fears without running
openly racist campaigns or governing in a racist way. Since then, people with presidential
aspirations and the presidents themselves have evolved and refined these tricks into racially
coded political advertisements, slogans, and symbolically charged events. George Wallace came
into power by leading a social movement that was based on exploiting white voter s racial fears. At
the beginning, the Democrat s positions were openly racist. Wallace started exploiting white voter s
racial fears when he stated Segregation now! Segregation tomorrow! Segregation forever!
Eventually, talk of race came to be coded into politics, like issues of welfare reform. Most
candidates in today s world would not openly incite racism.

Nike s Company Strategy Is A Clever One
Strengths
Company owns no factories: Nike s company strategy is a clever one. While still in school at
Stanford, the founder Phil Knight thought that instead of paying Americans to put together Nike s
shoes, Knight believed that it would be best to take their manufacturing plants oversees, to places
where the labor would be immensely cheaper than in the United States, for example South Korea
and Taiwan. With 86 percent of Nike s products being manufactured in one of the aforementioned
countries and Nike employing a large number of people who lived there, both countries shared in
the riches until the founder decided prices were too high to manufacture there anymore.

All animals are raised differently. Animals parent their offspring in different ways, mostly
varying on what climate they live in. Animals that are raised in the ocean are going to be raised
differently from animals that live in the desert. For some the struggles could be avoiding the top
predators and for others it could be learning to hunt as the top predators. Ranging temperatures
also play a factor. Animals that live in the ocean won t have to worry about when to hibernate or
when to really stock up on food while other animals will. Animals also learn in different ways.

well educated and was used to leading men. He was straight talking, strong minded and courageous.
He was not afraid to stand up for what he believed in. When the governor introduced expensive gold
licenses, the miners really began to struggle. They took their grievances to the gold commissioner,
but he did not want to hear about their problems. Instead, the commissioner sent

Ender Wiggins Character Analysis
Introduction The character Ender Wiggins from Enders Game (Card, 1991) is a young boy
who is sent on an undercover mission to destroy the hive (the humans enemies). This essay will
focus on the idiographic and nomothetic descriptions of Ender Wiggins. An idiographic
description is a specific description that allows people like writers and people who watch
movies to give their own opinion on characters from their view or perspective (Ashton, 2012). A
nomothetic description is a generalized description of a person or character. This helps
generalize people into categories which is easier for people to compare multiple people or in this
case characters (Ashton, 2012). Idiographic Description Caring/Thoughtful When emmersed in the
book Enders game, it is clear to see that Ender Wiggins loves his sister and would do anything to
protect her. Ender showed this by emailing his sister every day and telling her about his day. When

Most of his conversation come from dialog with him and his sister and a couple of classmates
when asking the odd question. Ender as mentioned above was a boy who got bullied often at
school by other kids and at home by his older brother. Enders older brother makes it very evident
that he does not like Ender, so which lead Ender to become down on himself often after coming
home and seeing his brother. Ender thought people did not like him because he was a smart boy
so he rarely talked. An example of this is when Ender was in the spotlight during battle school
simulations and got picked on by people on his platoon on the Salamander army. When Ender first
started battle school, he usually sat alone and ate alone, he had nobody back home except his
family and he did not have anyone except the Colonels on the ship. Battle school encouraged
competition and not sportsmanship so did not help Ender until later in the novel where he then

The Importance Of Intellectual Property
Intellectual property is often misunderstood in the employment relationship. The protection of
intellectual property and confidential information is essential and valuable in for both employees
and employers. Employees may misuse confidential information during their employment or once
their engagement comes to an end. It is vital that employers take all necessary measures to prevent
intellectual propertyinfringement. Disputes over ownership of intellectual property are likely to
arise between employees and employers however this essay will discuss the numerous ways to
reduce the likelihoods of it occurring. Simple measures can be extremely beneficial for a business
and there are three major aspects that employers should focus on in order to prevent IP
infringement and these include employee intake, employment contract and employee exit
interviews. The chances of intellectual property theft have increased significantly in recent years
due to new technologies and the internet. This essay will discuss why and how employers can
protect their business when or if the employment relationship breakdown or ceases.
World International Property Organisation (WIPO) refers to intellectual property as creations of the
mind: inventions; literary and artistic works; and symbols, names and images used in commerce .
Intangible assets including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and tradesecrets are the most important
forms of intellectual property protection for any business. A patent

Themes in Rain of Gold, by Victor Villasenor Essay
Rain of Gold, is a true story about the history of Mexican people, their culture, traditions and
customs that were passed down from the Euro Indian heritage of Mexico. Rain of Gold was
written by Juan Villasenor in search for his ancestral roots. The people of this story are real and
not fiction. The places that are discussed are true. And the incidents did actually happen to his
family. There are several underlying themes that need addressing. Such as: the importance of
family, the importance of religion and spiritualism, womanas center of home and family, respect
protection of woman s virtue; ideal of women as pure, power of the woman the mother, being a man

Dona Margarita married Juan Villasenor and they had Jose, Alejo, Luisa, Emilia, Lucha, Domingo,
and Juan Salvador. Juan Salvador and Lupe were destined to find each other. Later Juan and Lupe
would marry and have a family of their own.
Both families emphasis the importance of family. In this sense family is defined as your immediate
family consisting of your parents, brother (s) and/or sister (s).
No man, no matter how wonderful, is to be put before a women s first loyalty, which is her
family.... So understand you re no child, and you first loyalty is to your brother and sister and me
la familia , Dona Guadalupe saying this to Lupe (p. 42).
Lupe s first love was the Colonel who was fighting in the Revolution. Everyone in the box
canyon believed that the Colonel would steal their gold mine and give it to the Americans. Lupe
loved this man with all her heart and couldn t believe that anyone thought he would do such a
thing to hurt the people of Mexico. And Dona Guadalupe had to tell her that her first loyalty
should be to her family and it didn t revolve around the man you love. The goal of both families
was to one day see their children be married and have children of their own.
The importance of religion and spiritualism is what held these families together through all they
had to endure.
Dona Margarita once told Juan Salvador, Do you really think God stopped talking to us, His
people, with the Jews and the Bible. Oh, no mi

R Day Deception By Mary Kathryn Barbier And Operation...
D Day Deception by Mary Kathryn Barbier and Operation Double Cross by Ben Macintyre are
both books about Operation Fortitude, the colossal allied deception operation aimed at preventing
Germany from finding out where the D Day landings would take place. This paper will
summarize both books and then discuss the differences between them and why they exist. D Day
Deception was written by Mary Kathryn Barbier in 2007 and focuses on Operation Fortitude and
the Normandy Invasion. Barbier draws almost exclusively from primary sources, such as the
military reports leading up to, and right after, D Day and then analyses the effectiveness of the
individual aspects of Operation Fortitude and the operation as a whole and determines it s... Show

Based on earlier attempts at deception the LCS had a general idea of where their false landing
sites should be (Barbier 8). This was by all means a united Anglo American effort, unlike
Operation Mincemeat which was a solely British endeavor, many American units, like the
American 23rd Headquarters Special Troops, who for example, played a role in Operation
Fortitude (Barbier 9). In November of 1943 the main objectives of the deception operation were
planned. A deception operation for the invasion of France should have three objectives. First, to
convince the Germans the attack was coming in the Pas de Calais region or east of there.
Second, to keep the Germans doubting the real date and time of the attack and third, during and
after the invasion contain as many German troops as possible in or east of the Pas de Calais for
fourteen days (Barbier 13). Recognizing that the deception had to be as realistic as possible it was
decided that dummy aircraft, antiaircraft, tanks, artillery, and landing boats would be assembled in
South East England while wireless communication to simulate a command center were also
fabricated by several people with radios in South East England (Barbier 14 15). Operation Fortitude
was divided into two parts, Fortitude North and South. Fortitude North was dedicated to faking an
invasion of Norway, which managed to tie down 250,000 German troops, while Fortitude

Bobby Knight Perseverance
Bobby Knight, who was a respected basketball coach for Indiana University and was the winner
of 902 division one college basketball games, once said, The key is not the will to win...
Everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important. Scientists have discovered that
success is not based on I.Q. but rather inspired by inner strength. This inner strength is called grit. I
also have referred to this inner strength of grit, for myself. My life success, is dependent upon using
grit, which requires perseverance, passion, and not giving up. First, I use perseverance to be
successful in sports. Firstly, in my weights class, perseverance was a valuable trait. For example, I

Firstly, passion helps me succeed in playing basketball. For example my love for the game has built
my endurance because I used to only be able to play for about two hours per day; now when I get
the chance to, I will play for six to eight hours in a day. Therefore, it is pure passion that I am able
to play a physically demanding activity for such long periods of time. Secondly, passion gets me
excited about certain chess moves. For example, a friend of mine once fell for a trap I had set
up in a chess game, and I yelled Yes really loudly. Therefore, my enthusiasm for the game helped
me be successful. Thirdly, passion causes me to put chess games in front of other things in life.
For example, if I am playing in a chess match up that is really important to me, I will focus on
that game more than normal, instead of other things like getting on Facebook, and other social
media websites, and sadly sometimes even homework gets abandoned at times if I am playing
someone with a high rating or just someone who has beaten me before. Therefore, a friend of
mine once had a 1717 rating, which is really good, I ignored Facebook notifications on my phone
that were constantly yearning for my attention. I ended up winning that game and as of now, that
is the highest rated player I have ever beaten. For all of these reasons, I have used passion to
succeed. Third, not giving up is an important attribute to me. Firstly, I do not give up, even when I

For many generations, gypsies were forced to conform to society in many ways such as not being

it being against the law to speak your own language! Today, many gypsies are finally able to

on their culture by resisting the outside world using different methods. Many people say actions

Overcoming Obstacles To Success
People are faced with obstacles on a daily basis, but it is how a person deals with the obstacle
that really reveals their true character. I personally believe that obstacles are present in order to
demonstrate how much one really desires to achieve a particular goal. While growing up, I was a
stereotypical awkward pre teen that grew too fast for his age: I was not fast enough for basketball,
not coordinated enough for baseball, and definitely not nimble enough for soccer. It was here in
middle schoolwhen I was faced with obstacles, but it is how I dealt with these obstacles that
taught me many lessons and turned me into the person I am today. Although I was not seen as
athletic, I still had a love for sports. I would spend some of my free time watching English
soccer games or highlights, wishing that I could play like them. I could not wait to try out for
soccer, and hopefully make it. On the first day, I sat down on the bench, put on my cleats, and got
ready for tryouts. After a week of running and demonstrating our soccer skills, all of us potential

This, however, changed quickly. I hated the idea of failure at anything; it just did not sit well

to the local park. I watched videos on form, and I practiced it with my dad. I determined that, as
a lanky kid, I was better suited for the goalkeeper position than on the field, so I adapted and
committed to that position. Fast forward to 8th grade when I tried out again. After a week of
hard work, I got called in by the coach and made the team. However, I was still the third choice

Moral Decay In The Great Gatsby Essay
The novel, talks about the relationship between a male and a female who are in affection with one
another. The central theme of the book is not so romantic as such. All the events in the story occur
over a couple of months in the summer of 1922. The novel is a symbol of the 1920s America and
the dissolution of the American dream in a period that was marked by great prosperity and material
wealth. The author of the novel depicts the moral and the social decay in the 1920s as demonstrated
in the greed, excessive quest for pleasure and its predominant distrust. The luxurious parties that
Gatsby holds every Saturday night shows the recklessness and the moral decay that ultimately
resulted to crumbling of the American dream. The characters that... Show more content on

Marco Polo s Influence On The World
Marco Polo is a well known heroic travelers and a pool game. Marco Polo was born in 1254 in
Italy. Marco s father and his uncle had traveled to China as merchants. When they left Italy to
return to China, they were chaperoned by Marco Polo and two priests. It is known that he was born
into a leading Italian family of merchants.
Ruled by Kublai Khan, the Mongol Empire stretched all the way from China to Russia. The
Mongol hordes also threatened parts of Europe, especially Poland and Hungary making fear
everywhere by their cruel empire.
In 1269, Niccol and Maffeo Polo arrived back in Italy, where
Niccol found out his wife had died while he was gone. Their son,
Marco, who was only about fifteen years old, had been only six or younger when his father left
home. Marco was reared primarily by his mother and the extended Polo family and the streets of
Venice. After his mother s death, Marco had probably begun to think of himself as something of a
orphan. Then his father and uncle suddenly reappeared, as if from the dead, after nine years of
traveling in far off, romantic lands.
These experiences were the formative influences on young Marco, and one can see their effects
mirrored in his character: a combination of sensitivity and toughness, independence and loyalty,
motivated by an eagerness for adventure, a love of stories.
In 1268, Pope Clement IV died, and a two or three years delay while another pope was being
elected gave young Marco had time to mature

The Banking System Of Banks
Introduction
This essay will evaluate the reforms to the banking system of ability of banks to create money in
the form of bank deposits when they make loans and the problems caused by the way in which
money is created by banks and the effect on debt, house prices, inequality, the environment, the
level of democracy, recessions crises, jobs businesses and taxes public spending.
The advantages and disadvantages of the positive money proposal include the following;
The bank would provide the payment systems such as cheque books, debit cards, internet banking,
and ATMs that allow the customer to use their sovereign money to make payments.
The account holder can easily access their money through ATMs, transfer and check their account
online. Although, banks put limits on the number of transactions and transfers per month.
Banks require account holders maintain a minimum balance in their account and if they do not
maintain the account, they will be fined. However, the banks give a limit of transfer and
withdrawal per month and this poses an inconvenience to the customer who needs to make an
emergency withdrawal that will exceed the number of withdrawals permitted.
The accounts would be interest free, and banks would be able to charge account fees for providing
these services.
Banks offer zero percent period to the account holder this means that they can effectively benefit
from an interest free loan. The account has to be clear before the zero percent offer ends

What Is Transitioning To Implementation Plan
Transitioning to Implementation
Throughout the course of this planning guide, we have discussed various strategies to implement
when undergoing the process of strategic planning. However, the most vital factor to keep in the
back of our minds, as we strategically plan is to think if we choose that strategy, how would we
implement? In thinking like this, planners should be careful that they do not develop a plan that is
so intentionally achievable that no one has to do anything to implement leading to one of the
common downfalls of implementation (Zuckerman, 2016) or so impossible that there is no way to
implement it. Acknowledging this is what makes this guide so crucial for the plan to be fulfilled.
In this section of the guide, we will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How do we Communicate?
A formal, highly inclusive, and informative roll out of the strategic plan should assist in facilitating
implementation (Zuckerman, 2016). The Rhode Island Welcome Back Center should consider a
communication plan to accompany the newly developed strategic plan. According to Pilkington
(2016), a good communication strategy is nothing without a plan to deliver it, and a plan is of no
value without a strategy to guide it. The purpose of the plan is to inform, involve and excite
constituents on the changes to come (Zuckerman, 2016). The plan should focus on who the
communication will address (Senior management, board, donors, volunteers and staff), what, how
and when the communication will be released.
DEADLY SIN: The strategy is communicated on a need to know basis rather than freely throughout
the organization (Zuckerman, 2016).
Plan Review and Progress Monitoring.
Strategic planning is a dynamic process; therefore, it is never completed (Allison Kaye, 2011).
Therefore, progress must be monitored on a regular basis during implementation and adjusted as
needed (Zuckerman, 2016). The monitoring of the strategic plan involves ensuring that plan goals
and objectives are being met. The Rhode Island Welcome Back Center should create a formal
process to track and monitor strategic goals and objectives either monthly or bimonthly and if
satisfactory progress is made, then the monitoring process can change to

America History Teach Us About The Dangers Of Racism
What does this episode in US history teach us about the dangers of racism?
I think this period in history aptly depicts racism as a very sad, narrow minded, damaging, and
ugly mentality. Anyone who has ever been a target of anything gossip, slander, teasing or felt
isolated, ostracized, friendless, misunderstood or misjudged should have a heart for and the ability
to empathize with other people. Sadly, while this episode in history (and many others) clearly
demonstrates the dangers and horrors of racism, there are still many who choose to embrace the
warped mentality from which it springs. History has shown us this repeatedly. Personally, I
cannot comprehend such a perspective, as it has no basis in any kind of rational, reasonable,
logical principle or ideal. But then, I was always the scrawny kid that stood up for the underdog
and fought off bullies, even if they were twice my size and I ended up being the one that took a
beating. To me, racism represents a corrupted mentality; a level of arrogance, entitlement, and
repackaged, relabeled bullying that is heartbreaking and deplorable. And it is not just Caucasians
who have throughout history fallen prey to the ugly tentacles of racism. Beneath the surface, almost
every nation, even otherwise very hospitable Asian nations, have some racist views of another
nation or nations which they perceive as worse than them. Hopefully, humanity will eventually
learn from history, and we can once and for all end the vicious cycle of

  • 6. Theme Of The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall Analysis of The Jilting of Granny Weatherall The literary and narrative techniques in a piece of writing are used to make up the story. Characters, setting, plot, and symbols are just a few of the possible elements that authors use to create a story. Each of these qualities are important to develop a storyline, in which readers can relate and understand. Like all literature The Jilting of Granny Weatherall , written by Katherine Anne Porter, is constructed of literary and narrative techniques. The way Porter portrays these techniques allows readers to understand the theme of betrayal. The Jilting of Granny Weatherall uses characters and symbolism to demonstrate the impact of betrayal and disappointment and how it changes a person s life. Since literature revolves around and is told through characters, they are necessary for creating stories. In the Jilting of Granny Weatherall , the characters include Granny, Cornelia, Jimmy, Lydia, Hapsy, Doctor Harry, Father Connolley, the Nurse, John, and George. While many of the characters have necessary roles in the plot, the use of John and George most effectively display the theme of betrayal. These two characters are important for readers to pay attention to because of their influences on Granny s life. Granny s feelings toward George and her late husband, John, reveal how being abandoned completely changed her and gave her a tough outlook on life. • 7. Where The Girl On The Sea Are Short Story WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE I perched myself upon a weathered rock. My footprints left tattoos in the sand. The wind was etherized in the sky. The sun smoldered in silence. Centered in a quiet oasis, the blue beast howled. It stretched out before me like the land was coated in oil paints: cerulean and cyan, electric and Egyptian, teal and turquoise. The moment that I stood before this righteous beast was captured and bottled up in my beloved father s camera. This flimsy piece of paper is a portal. It is a portal to a girl who left her worries at the shore, on that smooth and cold rock. Who left the marks of her bare feet across the velvety sands. Under stacks of photographs of my birth, my sister s birth, and my father s birth, an image of a little girl, perched on a smooth and cold rock, lay. It was out of place among our birth photos and I pulled it out to put it among the vacation pictures. A hazy smile tugged at my lips. I remembered her. A wild girl from the sea, with stormy eyes and seaweed hair. I remembered her untamed rage and her indestructible heart. My insides squirmed at the memory, at the girl whose bones snapped and whose blood boiled and whose skin tore. They squirmed at the thought of who I d become, a blue light locked under a bell jar. My squirming turned to fidgeting and kicking and screaming and roaring and tearing and red radical rage. I burned with my regret as fuel. I tore up the fragile skin that held me captive. My mother and father have sat me down and told me that I was born to put on latex gloves and operate on the sick, or stand before a judge and make defend the innocent, or swear to protect the citizens of my city with a gold lacquered badge and gun. As I held that photograph in my polished fingers, I realized that my fate was not where I had guessed. That I was not to live a tranquil life among the people who raised me. As aforementioned, with the abolishment of slavery, scientific racism emerged. As seen in the political cartoon, Am I not a Man or a Brother? , negative stereotypes emerged comparing Africans to simians. Created as a satire of the monogenetic vs. polygenetic debate, the cartoon makes fun of the abolition slogan Am I not a Man or a Brother? . Asserting Africans inferiority on a sub human level, the cartoon brings into question the entire abolition movement. Why grant freedom to a race of people that are no more biologically separate from an ape? Africans were seen by many as a different species... (Pettit, 45). The negative stereotype of Africans to apes is seen throughout the visual culture of Great Britain. With the soaring numbers of casual employment, the debates about the benefits and drawbacks of causal employment have become fiercer. The majority of casual labor force constantly contact with their potential employers to apply job and confirm the arrangement of working time from month to month, or even week to week. There is no denying that causal workers are also important components of labor force, just like permanent employees and self employed workers. However, most of people agree that causal labor forces are the most vulnerable group in the job market. When it comes to the influence of casual employment on the economy and individual enterprises, there is little agreement on this issue. Many small companies strongly support casual employees, for the payment for casual employees is far lower than the fixed employees. Some enterprises go even further, which hire the entire workforce from the casual employment group. Apart from the reason that casual employment can save the cost of the companies, flexibility is also an important reason for them to select casual workers. There are also other managers who maintain that causal employees are not a wise choice for all the companies. This is because many causal workers are poor in skill and productivity with low commitment to the enterprise. Casual employment may meet the short term demand for both employees and employers, but it may lead to the constraint of dynamic productivity and innovation. Throughout the process of finding this identity, came with courage, religion, and fear. These three concepts provide compelling examples and experiences that have shaped Americans into the best country there is. Having courage in life is often half the battle. John Smith encounters so many hardships that prove he dares to keep pursuing his goal. Eventually, after defeating and beheading a succession of three Turkish officers in single combat in Rumania, Smith was wounded in battle, taken as a prisoner and sold into slavery to a Turk. Smith was passed from place to place until held prisoner on the Black Sea, he murdered his master and fled back to Rumania via Russia and Poland, returning to England in the winter of 1604 05. (Smith, pp. 82). Most people at this point would typically become slightly discouraged because he has gotten beaten up and is questioning if he can accomplish this or fail. The lesson we should take from Smith in this story is that no matter how hard things get if you have a goal achieve it. There will defiantly be hardships that come your way, but nothing in this life comes easy. For example, the British encounter many hardships such as hunger, sickness, and unfamiliarity. Being thrown into adapting to new situations is often hard. The natives saw many things they were not accustomed to, a few of which include, muskets, clothes, horses, compasses, and ... We are told that she walks down to the beach rather mechanically, (Chopin 108) and that she doesn t think about much, other than the heat of the sun. This doesn t seem terribly interesting until we read that the reason she isn t thinking is because she had, done all the thinking which was necessary after Robert went away, when she lay awake upon the sofa till morning. Clearly, she feels that drowning herself in the sea is the best way that she can elude her children. After walking into the sea, she begins to swim. There are several instances where we are told that she grows progressively more tired. Since she has thought so much about this swim, she should have known to turn back at the first sign of exhaustion. But she doesn t. She continues on to her ultimate death, apparently understanding and willing. Comparatively, there seems very little evidence to say that it was not suicide. A large part of any argument for just death stems from her impulsiveness, and that she could ve been struck with the urge to swim very far out without thinking of the consequences. This argument is not terribly valid since we are told that she has, in fact, thought about her trip to the beach quite a lot. She also goes on and on...thinking it [the sea] had no beginning and no end, (Chopin 109) and yet still decides to continue swimming. Her thoughts right before her death offer a plausible, non suicidal ending. Paper, Pollutants, Politics, and Precaution The paper industry here in Maine is struggling with mill closures and a bad reputation for being wasteful or bad for the environment. The issue of paper mills being an added stress to the environment is not unique to Maine. Mills in Wisconsin are also very wasteful, producing toxins in the air, soil, and water. In one river in Wisconsin, two hundred fifty thousand pounds of sediment is said to have been contaminated with manufactured organic chemicals used by the paper mills (Environmental Impacts of the Paper Industry, 2016). The Environmental protection agency has become involved in the issue by estimating the movement of about one hundred sixty thousand pounds of sediment from that river to adjoining lakes, river, and bays (Environmental Impacts of the Paper Industry, 2016). Restricting access from these locations would be pointless if a natural disaster occurred, possibly washing the contaminated soil to populated areas (Environmental Impacts of the Paper Industry, 2016). Not only does the paper industry s chemical waste enter the water systems, it also enters the air. The particulate matter entering the air includes carbon dioxide, nitrous oxides, sulfur dioxides, carbon monoxides and particulates. These contribute to ozone warnings, acid rain, global warming and respiratory problems (Environmental Impacts of the Paper Industry, 2016). This higher demand in return increases environmental pressures, due to an unregulated private manufacturing sector. Two relevant themes that relate to each other are Because it is built into things we use every day, marketing is inescapableВЁ and Negligent consumerism is destructive to the environmentВЁ. These two themes relate to each throughout novel. With that being said, marketing is widely demonstrated all through our daily lives because of the modern societal use of products that are brought to our attention day in and day out. DEADLY SIN: The strategy is communicated on a need to know basis rather than freely throughout the organization (Zuckerman, 2016). Plan Review and Progress Monitoring. Strategic planning is a dynamic process; therefore, it is never completed (Allison Kaye, 2011). Therefore, progress must be monitored on a regular basis during implementation and adjusted as needed (Zuckerman, 2016). The monitoring of the strategic plan involves ensuring that plan goals and objectives are being met. The Rhode Island Welcome Back Center should create a formal process to track and monitor strategic goals and objectives either monthly or bimonthly and if satisfactory progress is made, then the monitoring process can change to ... • 57. America History Teach Us About The Dangers Of Racism What does this episode in US history teach us about the dangers of racism? I think this period in history aptly depicts racism as a very sad, narrow minded, damaging, and ugly mentality. Anyone who has ever been a target of anything gossip, slander, teasing or felt isolated, ostracized, friendless, misunderstood or misjudged should have a heart for and the ability to empathize with other people. Sadly, while this episode in history (and many others) clearly demonstrates the dangers and horrors of racism, there are still many who choose to embrace the warped mentality from which it springs. History has shown us this repeatedly. Personally, I cannot comprehend such a perspective, as it has no basis in any kind of rational, reasonable, logical principle or ideal. But then, I was always the scrawny kid that stood up for the underdog and fought off bullies, even if they were twice my size and I ended up being the one that took a beating. To me, racism represents a corrupted mentality; a level of arrogance, entitlement, and repackaged, relabeled bullying that is heartbreaking and deplorable. And it is not just Caucasians who have throughout history fallen prey to the ugly tentacles of racism. Beneath the surface, almost every nation, even otherwise very hospitable Asian nations, have some racist views of another nation or nations which they perceive as worse than them. Hopefully, humanity will eventually learn from history, and we can once and for all end the vicious cycle of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
