This document discusses improving campus visit presentations through more concise and authentic storytelling. It identifies common problems with traditional campus tours like inauthenticity, lack of engagement, and lengthy PowerPoint-driven presentations. It promotes adopting the Pecha Kucha presentation style of 20 slides shown for 20 seconds each to make presentations more efficient and focused on stories over statistics. The document argues that authentic storytelling is the most effective way to inform and engage prospective students and their families during campus visits.
20-slide presentation highlighting the Prototype studio process that took place at the annual eTech Ohio Educational Technology Conference, Jan 31 - Feb 2, 2011.
The ideal classroom should include areas for collaboration using technology like Google Docs, a comfortable and energizing environment that incorporates nature, and hands-on learning with lab areas and transformable iPads. It also recommends providing a variety of calculators and potentially hologram generators and interactive blackboards to enhance learning.
The School of Design at South China University of Technology was established in 2001 and has since grown to include 64 faculty members and over 200 undergraduate students. It includes departments in industrial design, information and interaction design, environmental design, and costume design. The school has 14 design research studios led by professors, 30+ student studios, and facilities for modeling, CAD, 3D printing, and more. Research clusters include health and sustainable design, human factors and design technology, and design trends and culture. The school has participated in international academic exchanges, hosted overseas expert lectures and courses, and held international workshops with universities from countries like the UK, Sweden, and Singapore.
The document discusses rethinking classroom design and layout to create a more engaging learning environment for students. It suggests that traditional rows of desks may no longer be suitable and encourages exploring alternative seating arrangements like groups, circles, squares, theater-style, or fishbowl setups. It also addresses rethinking the use of walls, furniture like tables versus desks and adding couches, plants, and wall decorations to make the space feel less like an industrialized classroom from the 19th century. Proper lighting, both natural and other sources, is also covered.

The life of a project is complex. From the smallest freelance CSS gigs to the largest, multi-year strategic online initiatives, many forces come together into a system that can, with one bad e-mail or misunderstanding, pull itself apart at any minute.
Pulling from his own experiences at Happy Cog and those of leaders in the web design community, Kevin will share war stories that have led to new approaches to defining project scope, managing risks, and communicating with clients. And <del>if</del>when the unthinkable happens and it’s time to abandon the ship, he’ll illustrate how to make the best of a bad situation in ways that you can use throughout your career.
By now, most organizations have taken the first step in marketing automation, acquiring an enterprise class marketing automation system such as Act-On, Eloqua, Marketo, Aprimo or Pardot. However, very few organizations are actually taking advantage of the rich features these platforms offer. So while marketers aspire to leverage triggered events to launch timely customized nurture campaigns, the majority of outbound email from the systems is the same old batch and blast email programs of the past. Many are stuck figuring out where to start.
This presentation will teach you the approach to quickly launch marketing automation nurture campaigns without getting bogged down by overthinking the process. Topics covered include:
- The possible ROI of great nurture programs.
- The components of marketing automation campaigns that go beyond email.
- How to visualize and plan triggered events and nurture programs.
- Tips and best practices to boost ROI.
- Blending nurture with customized site calls to action and media based retargeting.
This presentation was given by Harry Gold, CEO of Overdrive Interactive, at NEDMA's 2015 Annual Conference.

The document discusses the current state of the global rice market and outlook for supply and demand. It notes that rice prices have strengthened recently due to higher wheat prices and uncertainties in production. Looking ahead, global rice production will need to increase by around 57 million tons by 2020 and 116 million tons by 2035 to meet rising demand, which will require a focus on boosting yields through improved technologies, varieties, and management practices.
The document outlines the key aspects of running an effective inbound marketing campaign. It discusses laying the groundwork by understanding the differences between traditional and inbound marketing. The document then covers an agenda to discuss campaign theory, including an overview of using various channels in a unified way to achieve a goal. It provides an example of how different assets and activities can be used sequentially to move prospects along the path from initial awareness to becoming customers. The importance of analyzing campaign results to inform future campaigns is also highlighted.
We present a new method and the associated workflow for estimating market shares of future products based exclusively on pre-introduction data, such as syndicated studies conducted prior to product launch. Our approach provides a highly practical, fast and economical alternative to conducting new primary research.
This document summarizes issues related to commercializing biotech crops globally. It discusses (1) the increasing global demand for food due to population growth and diet changes, and challenges from climate change; (2) how biotechnology has increased agricultural productivity but regulatory hurdles have slowed commercialization, especially in developing countries; and (3) the complex interplay of scientific, economic, political and social factors that must be addressed for successful commercialization of biotech crops globally.
Latin America has potential to become a major global supplier of rice, but faces challenges. Rice production in Latin America is currently small, at less than 5% of global production. However, Latin America has significant land and water resources available for expansion of rice. Key needs include lowering production costs below $1,000 per hectare, improving yields to over 7 tonnes per hectare, and developing a stable global rice market with minimal trade distortions. A long-term commitment to research and development for sustainable intensification, similar to Asia's green revolution, would be required for Latin America to realize its potential as a future "rice bowl."

The Cypriot bank deposit crisis has put a modern spin on Mark Twain's "It's not the return on my money but the return OF my money that counts." The unthinkable possibilities ahead emanate from the epic gap between a government's financing needs and its ability to sell debt. This has prompted politicians to consider options that were previously considered unthinkable.
You will learn —
The magnitude of the shortfalls in government funding
The adverse effects of the monetary fixes that are already underway
The means that governments use to confiscate private wealth
The protections being devised by private citizens
The possibility of new reserve currencies and global wealth reallocation
The Texas gold depository as an example of the unthinkables that lie ahead.

This document summarizes a talk given by Dylan Wilbanks about teaching web development concepts and skills to students. Wilbanks was asked to teach a web development class at the Information School on short notice. He realized students needed hands-on projects to learn both concepts and skills, but prerequisite courses focused only on concepts through papers rather than practice. Wilbanks argues web development is best taught through a kinesthetic approach of building websites, but educational systems have struggled to adapt. He encourages sharing knowledge by volunteering to teach or contributing to an open web curriculum.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.
