The fit note was launched in the UK in 2010 replacing the sicknote. The idea is that workers be encouraged to work even though they have a health condition or to come back to work before they are fully fit. This helps recovery and makes people feel better plus actually speeds up recovery.
GP's now have the option to say that someone can return to work with modified duties or even in a different job. However, many GP's do not understand the local workplaces, how can they, there are many and each one will have different job roles and capacity to change the content of jobs.
So it makes sense that if an employee is feeling unwell or thinking of returning to work early, a discussion is had with the Manager to look at what sort of work is available as a short term measure or as part of a rehabilitation programme,
Running a business and being an entrepreneur means making the most of your money. But an entrepreneur often makes the mistake of thinking that a business is more expensive to run than it actually is! The key is to be conscious about what you are spending money on, and to avoid the pitfalls of focusing on everything except your revenue.
Rather than lament the loss of a 1950s model where churches were typically the center of social of social and cultural life in American, how do we adapt to a world where technology is an integral part of everyday life?

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Giving everyone the confidence to present at a Summit was that One Thing we wanted to work on so here we are! We want this presentation to cover not just the OpenStack summit but also speaking about OpenStack at multiple conferences. We want to spread the knowledge. If we throw around three letter acronyms, we should also define them. We know that many of the Women of OpenStack have only been to one summit, or are planning for Vancouver to be their first summit. We want to get a good jump start on that experience.
Here are some notes about the summit itself. It helps to be very familiar with the format of a conference prior to creating a proposal. This talk is about the Summit itself, not the Design Summit.
Proposals in this process are only for the Summit sessions, not the Design Summit. Those are chosen in a different manner. Stay tuned to the openstack-dev list for details.
Track chairs have final say, but community gets to participate by voting on interesting topics. Tweet early and tweet often.
Voters must be members of the OpenStack Foundation. It’s painfully obvious to track chairs if your company stuffs the ballot box so don’t do that.
Track chairs can swap proposals if they think there are too many in one.
*** Can we get some numbers to share about which tracks get a lot of submissions?
Deadline is February 9th!
Next, Anne Gentle will talk about some tips for proposals sessions.
Audience grows all the time. I don’t want to intimidate though, this is a keynote photo. There are typically less than 100 people in the room.
In Atlanta there were 700 CxOs who signed up in the last week prior to the Summit. There are basic patterns we see:
Operations
New to OpenStack
IT professionals
Operators
App developers are fewer in number but super valuable
Geography and locality makes a big difference for first time summits
Newbies to OpenStack (don’t make knowledge assumptions) easily 50% or more
Open source advocates
Corporate sponsors
Nearly a quarter of all attendees are developers, and they’ll be attending and voting on the proposals even if their time is split with the Design Summit.
Plenty of C-suite attendees
. For a general overview, O’Reilly has a great conference page with sample proposals at http://www.oreilly.com/conferences/sample_proposals.html
Title evocative, not too cute
Description sets out the problem, shows what attendees learn, tells why they’d care
Lists or outlines preferred over rambling text
Demonstrate your knowledge of topics
Next, Diane Mueller who has been a track chair for OpenStack can talk through her tips for any conference proposals.
CFP equals Call for Proposals or Call for Presentations.
