Creative ~ Innovative ~ Career Focused ~ Multi-Skilled
The design process gives me a great deal of satisfaction where I can concentrate on my ultimate goal and still be creative and inspired by my memories of past places, spaces and the widely differing uses of raw materials. A visit to the site is sometimes a glimpse into the past where historical associations or cultural signatures have somehow left their mark on the environment and landscape which may inspire further curiosity into what might or could come next in the constant evolution of the built environment. Design is a process that engages all the senses and the outcome of what we produce or build will ultimately have an effect on everyone who uses or visits that place and the judgment of our work and our creativity may last for generations to come.

Landscape architecture is about catching a fleeting moment of our environment and making it legible through design. These moments, over time, reveal a process that was hidden in plain sight. This portfolio showcases my design strategies to change perception and acknowledge process based design, with each of these projects at different scales.
While landscape architecture has taught me the value of all the qualities that go into shaping our space, my education in architecture backs that up with intricate working details. My strongest skills are that of design detailing and exploring representation through mixed media.
Every project in the following pages opens me up to diverse explorations and my passion for this unknown adventure is what I hope for even in the professional realm.

Dubai into a modern social
hub with more stylish designed
shops and souqs along the core
was the objective of the project.
From the existing plan of this
district, buildings with poor
maintenance and quality were
seen as a threat and were
removed to make place for
more well elaborated and
lavish buildings for residents.
Along the creek the social hub
creates a path for users that
lead them straight into the
Gold Souk from the Historic
Buildings or the Metro located
on the left side on the Site plan.
Road mobility was carefully
analysed, thus leading to the
decision of two way roads
becoming one way with the
addition of secondary roads to
help with the ease of traffic flow.
Site Plan of the Bur Dubai project

Creek side Elevation - Social Hub
Section through the District
Section of the Social Hub Street Section
The sections helped to
understand the proportion
of space needed between
building typologies as well
as identifying the shade
study between buildings.
Elevations on the other hand
were to be traditional and
be in harmony with the site.
10. 10
Hotel Apartments Plot Day and Night images - semi-private park
Behind this social hub lay
mixed dwelling units. This
particular plot revolves around
a semi-private park for its users.
The dome on the roof is taken
as a traditional element and
enclosed within it, is a restaruant
that overlooks the creek.
The issue of parking is solved
by adding a basement to the
existing ground floor parking.
Alleyways between these
three buildings are not visually
connected to the opposite
alleys in the plot, this gives
a sense of privateness and
reduces the public pedestrian
flow from entering into the park.
Section - Displaying Levels
13. 13
This institutional project
was undertaken by three
students, including myelf, where
we were given an empty plot
located in the Downtown Dubai
vicinity. Our buildings included
a Library, an Art Museum
and a Performing Art Center.
Our chosen concept was Air, Land
and Water, in which we decided
after alot of teamwork planning
that the Library would be raised
and supported on columns
to resemble air. The Museum
would sculpt from the ground
and have and organic rock form
and the Performing Art Center
would incoporate the Water
Pond nearby into the project.
Site Plan of the Arts District
14. 14
The Art Museum of Downtown Dubai
follows the concept of land bringing
people in from the districts area.
It features a sculpture park located in
the center and acting like a courtyard.
The last floor exhibits modern contemporary
artwork from artists all over the world.
The aim of this project was to enable maximum
daylight into the large organic structure.
The floor above exhibits local UAE based artwork
which guides occupants from the main entrance
to the secondary exit, directed in a loop pattern.
One of the unique functions of this level is its
outdoor balcony which faces the boulevard.

17. 17
The Jumeirah Housing
project’s goal was to
create a luxurious and
friendly district that would
house diverse nationalities.
A mix between modernism
and contemporary design
was initially the way to go.
Multiple analysis were
carried out, one of which
is the SWOT Analysis.
SWOT is the abbreviation
for Strength, Weakness,
Oppurtunity and Threat,
that we were to conduct
to prove that the project
was suitable for its location.
The project includes
Residential apartments and
Townhouses. In the site
plan you can see that the
Townhouses are placed at the
exterior sides of the plot and
the residential apartments
are placed along the central
area of the plot. This concept
was chosen for reasons of
privacy, access, pedestrian
density and traffic build-up.
Site & SWOT Analysis
19. 19
The Apartment unit consists
of 3 bedroom flats, where
two larger sides of the bulding
face the service roads whereas
the shorter sides face into
the plot’s community park.
All Residential buildings in the
project are G+3 in floors, where
the ground floor is strictly
for retail and the floors
above are the apartments.
Typical Floor Plan - 3 bedroom apartment
21. 21
The Townhouse unit is a
3 bedroom contemporary
design ideally for expatriates.
It contains a front porch
and a backyard garden.
The color choice of white,
grey and black was to
allow the minimalist effect
to take place and having
wood panels as the decor.
Since townhouses are exposed
to only two sides, clerestory
skylights was the alternate
solution to be introduced.
Floor Plans - Townhouse Unit - Family
26. 26
One of my most creative urban
plannedproposalsforthemost
used Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai.
Alot of consideration went into
designing a more established hub
for its users while also introducing
a green environment which is
lacking in the current masterplan.
The idea of the organic walkway
comes from breaking up the
rigid grid between the vertical
builidngs and horizontal highway.
Introduction of a cycle track and
outdoor patios for restaurants.
Materials:
Walkway - Wooden Planks
Patio - Stone
Track - Bitumen Aggregate
29. 29
Site plan of the British Primary School
Through process work and
site analysis, I was able to
achieve appropriate exterior
facades relating to the concept.
The idea of vertical and
horizontal grid elements is
key to the design’s challenge.
The spaces in between these grid
elements are to act as primary
and secondary circulation for the
building amongst the functions.

Considered all of the
necessary elements essential
to British Education, while also
maintaining a relation with
the UAE local building codes.
The Brisitsh Primary School
Project was to shape our
skills in detail drawings and
enable us to understand
how structural details can
be integrated with design.
The heart of the building
marks the social point
of the school where an
open auditorium is placed
to accommodate multiple
functions, such as, assemblies,
lectures and gatherings.
The facades of the building
are a group of horizontal
and vertical panels to
illustrate the concept and
also act as shading device.s

Detailed Ground & First Floor Plan
34. 34
The idea behind the design
was to translate the Canadian
University of Dubai’s slogan “a
portal to Canadian education” into
3 dimensional form. The panels
along the wall of the kiosk
continue to change & progress
in shape and size as the user
moves through the “portal”.
The profile of the wall panels
are raised as they reach the
back wall. This is symbolic of
reaching the end of the portal.
The kiosk provides a lounge,
3 meeting areas, technical/
storage space and a reception
desk. There is additional digital
interactive function incorporated
into the central circulation space.
The materials are primarily
reclaimed timber and pressboards
formed into panels and shaped
into the form of ribs. Reused
building materials minimize the
environmental impact. The opening
along the walls on all four sides
allow enough daylight to reduce
the need for artificial lighting.
