Analysis Of Porter s Five Forces Model
VALUE INNOVATION Despite recessions and shifting markets some companies grow in revenues
and profits. Why is this so? FIVE FORCES MODEL Until recently, Porter s Five Forces Model was
the dominant theory applied to factors driving competitive forces in an industry. It hypothesizes that
the level of competitive intensity within an industry arises from five specific sources in determining
attractiveness of an industry to potential entrants. Porter developed Five Forces Analysis in response
to SWOT analysis, a model he found too vague. In this economic model, while rivalry between
competing firms drives profits toward zero, industry players understand competition is imperfect so
companies do their utmost to achieve a competitive advantage ... Show more content on

The number of suppliers you need to maintain key aspects of production, the uniqueness of these
features, and your switching costs between suppliers are all critical. The fewer your suppliers, the
greater your dependency on fewer upstream providers, the more power each wields. CUSTOMER
BARGAINING POWER How powerful are your customers relative to your value proposition? The
smaller your customer base, the more concentrated its power. The significance of each customer
within your client base, and the lower your customer s switching costs, can all conspire to drive your
prices down. THREAT OF SUBSTITUTES Product substitutions in place of a company s products or
services are a threat. If your customers rely on you to provide a tool or service that can be easily
substituted with that of another tool or service provider, your market power is weakened. When rivals
become aggressive within a given marketplace a counter response by one or more competitors
typically occurs. A competitor can choose among several options: Changing prices this can result in a
temporary advantage since competitors can quickly follow suit. Improving product differentiation
requires more time, but improved features, improved quality can bear long term results. Using
distribution channels creatively ignore traditional channels through vertical integration or distributing
through non traditional outlets. The major risk in the latter strategy is to the

Challenges for Building Stable Democracies Essay
Challenges for Building Stable Democracies
It has been stated that the Bush administration s goal is to have America spread democracy around the
world. This may sound radical, but it is really just what our foreign policy has been for the past 60 or
so years. The only difference is that now there is no evil communist empire, the USSR has fallen.
America has a new ideological enemy the theocracies and oppressive regimes around the world
especially Africa and the Middle East, the places that breed terrorists. The Bush administration and
most people feel that the best way to stop Terrorism is to wipe out its source. However, in building
democracies in the Middle East and other parts in the world there are some extreme difficulties in ...

One thing any democratic state needs to do when they are setting up another new democratic state is
they must make sure that the new government is seen as legitimate by the people in it. And the
democracy is pretty much doomed if the people despise it. The easiest way not to have the government
despised is proposed in Machiavelli s The Prince. In it he states It makes him hated above all things,
as I have said, to be rapacious, and to be a violator of the property and women of his subjects, from
both of which he must abstain. And when neither their property nor honour is touched, the majority of
men live content, and he has only to contend with the ambition of a few, whom he can curb with ease
in many ways. (Machiavelli unknown page) As long as these two things are insured for the people
then most rational men will not rebel.
Getting the government to represent the people is really the hardest part of setting up a new
government. Because it has to represent the vast majority of the people, say at least 90% but it also has
to be able to get things done fast. Many people think a parliamentary government with many parties
like the one in France would answer this problem; the only problem is that because there are so many
parties, every cabinet is a coalition of parties that can easily fall apart and can usually get only limited
things done. Any new government needs to

Reflection Paper On Sense Perception
Sense Perception Reflection
We see and understand things not as they are but as we are Discuss this claim in relation to perception.
Knowledge Question: To what extent does our sense perception limit the way we perceive reality?
Word Count: 800
Knowledge is an extensive concept which has no precise definition since it has no end or limit. In a
constantly changing world, several individuals have different upbringings, prejudices, viewpoints and
the way we perceive or understand certain things may be different from how they are in reality. Firstly
sense perception, in this case is simply what the eyes see, the nose smells, the ears hear or the body
feels. Secondly, reality is not a subjective knowledge, but rather an objective one. ... Show more

Our senses help us gather and respond to information about our surroundings, which in turn aids our
survival through our reciprocation to most sensory information.Improvements in science have
enhanced the quality of life for many people with sensory disabilities by providing things as
alternative methods of communication, increasing mobility and technology for sensory enhancement.
For example, sound and smell has a strong influence in our daily lives it increases our emotional
quotient thus improving our productivity during work. Therefore, the way we perceive reality can be
tied to our emotions hence, sense perception in some ways can grow our perception of reality.
To conclude, I personally believe that sense perception is dependent on many external factors thus can
limit the way we perceive reality and can sometimes betray us or memory that influences our ways of
knowing. Reality is altered everyday to some extent. However, we have become intelligent enough to
understand this idea over the decades, hence we can not let these things come in the way of truth. That
is why we use reason and logic and put aside our sense perceptions and try to see things not as they
are but as we

Personal Narrative-Demi Lovato Concert
What are you all waiting for? asks a woman passing by. There s a Demi Lovato concert tonight,
someone replies. The woman smiles, wishes us a good time and continues on her way, likely to lunch,
as it is one o clock in the afternoon. Since the concert doesn t start until 8pm, the line is not extremely
long, but it consists of at least fifty people, some of whom arrived at nine that morning. I always strive
to be the first in line, however there are always roughly 10 people ahead of me by the time I arrive at
noon. Seeing people in front of me in line always makes me anxious. What if I don t end up in the
front row? Will I have wasted an entire day? What most people don t realize is the stress that comes
with waiting in line all day. Sometimes workers move the line from place to place to prevent
sidewalks from becoming blocked, however this makes everyone near the front of the line extremely
nervous, for the people in the back of the line jump at the opportunity to be closer to the front. Some

Key Competency For Achieving High Performance
Enabling others in any organization is such a viable act. Leaders are aware that things cannot be done
alone so including their employees and team members is what has to happen. Successful managers
take a great deal of team to ensure that they have a great, trustworthy team to back up the
organization. They work together to create goals and they establish relationships along the way
showing their team members that they care for their well being. Collaboration is such a crucial
competency for achieving high performance in an organization (Kouzes Posner, 2012). A leader is not
able to start a brand new team with working together. It takes a great deal of trust and collaboration in
order to get others to work together properly. A leader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are situations that could arise where a team member loses trust or a leader loses trust in a team
member. While mistakes do happen, it s up to the leader and their team to establish a truthful
relationship so that if a situation arises, it could be handled. Opening up to either a leader or a team
member can be a very difficult task. If an individual is one where they have had a bad experience, it
could be very difficult for one to accomplish this. Leaders should always go first in opening up
because it allows for a high level of performance amongst teams and it also creates a trusting
environment for employees (Kouzes Posner, 2012). Bankers sometimes have a bad reputation because
they are not able to be trusted. If they chose to not be trusted then others with not trust them. It s very
simply stated and very easy for them change if they wanted to. The face of banking could have a
different reputation but it s the leaders and management who ruin it for everyone else. Being sensitive
to what other team members are going through creates a great relationship that allows others to keep
coming back for more. Employees should be able to turn to their manager and communicate with them
if they are having a rough day in the office or in their personal life. A lot of employers use the
expression of leaving your personal life at the door when you walk into the office. Great leaders that

New Zealand s Legal Architecture And Constitutional...
Democracy is government of the people, by the people, for the people. Many theorists believe that
New Zealand has a weak constitutional framework and therefore a weak democratic structure.
However there are many other theorists who state that unwritten constitutions bring flexibility, and can
evolve with modern society. The accuracy of this statement can be evaluated in relation to New
Zealand s legal architecture and constitutional arrangements.
New Zealand doesn t have a single codified constitutional document, and it is therefore said to be
unwritten. Our flexible constitution can be altered by Parliament, because Parliament is supreme. New
Zealand has a Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) system of government, meaning we have a
majority of minority parties, and this has effected parliamentary sovereignty. Practically, MMP has
caused a change to the system of government, and it may not be as easy in reality to alter the
constitution, this is because consensus would be harder to achieve. Constitutionalism and the rule of
law, implies political responsibility to the people through the legislature, elected by the people. This
shows that although in theory New Zealand s democratic structure may look skeletal and fragile, in
practice there are many checks in place that can be said to prevent such weaknesses, these are
provided below.
Our constitutional documents are sourced in many pieces of legislation. The New Zealand
Constitution Act 1852 holds the origins of our

However, all of these strengths that Blockbuster has to offer there are always weakness lingering

Theories Of Restorative Justice
According to Batley (2005), restorative justice is about dealing with the damage that was caused as
well as addressing the needs of the victim and the offender. The relationship between the two parties
and their communities needs to be mended. Zehr Gohar (2003) further states that restorative justice
expands the circle of stakeholders further than that of the justice system. Stakeholders are not just the
offender and the government, but the victim and the community members as well.
As stated by Batley (2005), there are many definitions of restorative justice, but they all contain three
principles, which are:
Victims, offenders and communities all experience pain or damages that is caused by crime. It is

could cause the victim to regress in the progress they have made (Marsh Wager, 2015).
Zehr Gohar (2003) states that when a murder has been committed the damage cannot be repaired, but
steps towards healing can be taken. Looking at the above mentioned crimes namely, domestic
violence, sexual violence and rape, murder could be the worst criminal act.
The charge states that restorative justice is not appropriate when dealing with a serious crime such as
murder (Batley, 2005). On the surface the obvious reason would be that the victim would not be able
to partake in the restorative process, however Gaudreault (2005) stated that research shows that family
members and friends of murder victims have shown a willingness to engage in the restorative justice
process. Undertaking the process of having the family take the role of victim could be a form of
closure that they receive as the survivors of

American Loyalist Failure
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors that contributed to the failure in the
British Southern Campaign in the American Revolutionary war. This paper will examine British and
American Southern Loyalist defeat in the Battle of Kings Mountain, and discuss assumptions the
British made, including loyalists support, logistics, long rifle, and terrain advantage. It is important to
study past military actions to identify mistakes and apply lessons learned to current U.S. military
operations. Background The Battle of Kings Mountain took place on October 7, 1780 between the

methodical manner and picked off Ferguson s men on the exposed heights. Ferguson s men returned
fire, the Patriots fortunate Loyalists shooting downhill with their Brown Bess muskets tended to shoot
high. (Jones, 2009) Ferguson countered and ordered a bayonet attack down the mountain. The Patriots
then retreated to the base of the mountain, waited until the Loyalists disbursed, and returned to the top.
The Patriots regrouped and resumed their attack, picking off more and more loyalist. Both sides
repeated this maneuver three times during the battle. Some of Ferguson s Loyalists ran out of
ammunitions. Ferguson realized the impending loss, attempted a breakout with his men, and
advanced. In the attempt to escape with his men, Ferguson died on the mountain. (Hickman, 2015)
The Loyalist consequently surrendered. The battle lasted an hour. Out of 1,200 men, 300 killed, at
least 120 wounded, and at least 680 taken as prisoners. The Patriots out of the 900 men had
approximately 65 wounded and 28 killed. (U.S. Army War College,

The World Of The Third World
The Third World as a political project emerged out of Cold War rhetoric. It referred to a group of non
aligned countries that claimed to operate separately from the influences of the great powers. The
movement represented the emergence of the Third World as a self conscious political grouping.
Solidarity was predicated upon common economic structures that were distinctive from both the
Eastern block planned economies and the Western free market system (Smith, n.d: 17). The Third
World as a political project was intrinsically linked to decolonization. Developing nations were
encouraged to stand against Western intervention and involvement in the economic affairs of the Third
World (Smith, n.d: 17). In addition, the project aimed to establish a new international economic order
in which developing countries would have greater control over their own natural resources (Smith,
n.d: 18). It also called for more cooperation in the third world in order to lessen their dependence on
leading institutional forums. As one of the most influential proponents of the Third World Project,
Jawaharlal Nehru specifically worked to promote ideas of global interconnectedness, world peace and
non alignment. Yet despite efforts to uplift the Third World from its peripheral status, evidence of
Western superiority discourse was still present in the language used by Nehru and other elites.
Furthermore, while elites championed Third World principles in word, they generally remained tied to

Good advertising does not just circulate information, it penetrates the public mind with desires and
belief, stated William Bill Bernbach one of the most creative advertising directors of his time.
Advertising is when a person or organisation make an announcement through the various forms of
media which is intended to influence the choices of others, whereby it attempts to inform, appeal and
persuade their targeted audience. However, countless ads enter the market that are partially ineffective
or completely ineffective and in turn can end up being detrimental to both the product and company s

It has an almost equal focus on all these elements employing a diverse range of characters and emotive
use of technological imagery. The dynamic appeal of the future , the central aspect to this ad, was
presented specifically by the modes of logos and ethos. They successfully attempted this by presenting
a varied range of people who all seemed to be intelligent and possess high authoritative abilities
created by their character s job persona, whether that be a scientist or a neurologist. These paid actors
really made the ad seem much more credible and well as appealing to the ethics of the audience
because these people have first hand experience with the product, making their recommendations of
joining a generation that s moving us forward the most reliable and trustworthy testimonial of anyone
on the market. The actors have also used the power of the product to get people on board the
bandwagon and join the widely accepted revolution before it s too late, employing tactics to build trust

audience by using emotional imagery and psychological metaphors. From images with parents
celebrating with their young children to ethnic and gender equal societies to successful space

allowing the audience to be susceptible to the lies the NBN were broadcasting. Specifically, in this ad
the NBN has tried extremely hard to elicit the emotion of hope in its viewers, attempting to instil this
via the futuristic imagery, so that audience has something to look forward to, giving them the desire

Tribe, described by the dictionary as, Any aggregate of people united by ties of descent from a
common ancestor, community of customs and traditions , can cause many people to often tumble into
disagreement with one another over the meaning of this word. Arguments have lead people to believe
that the word tribe refers to a group of people that are primitive and savage, but Archeologists have
cleaned up the meaning. Archaeologists define the word tribe as, A political group that comprises
several bands or lineage groups, each with similar language and lifestyle and each occupying a distinct

Each player in the team may have separate backgrounds, but when united they all believe in a few

2014 by coach Steve Baron. They understand their world as a place to get better, and a place to

they never eat something that could weight them down like junk food. Before each game, the team
performs the same warm up, they jog, they spring, they do high knees, etc. These rituals before a game
never change, similar to how the Native Americans rituals never change. Because many of the
members come from different backgrounds, there is a stern difference between how they differentiate
themselves. Many kids show up to practices in clothes that they wear on a daily basis, so for some
people, that s different. Kids show up in jackets, shorts, gloves, hats, jerseys, anything under the sun.

The Lord of the Flies and The Bad Seed have some similarities and some differences. First, the Lord
of the Flies and The Bad Seed are the same because they both show theories on where evil comes

other hand, The Lord of the Flies and The Bad Seed have some differences. First, the Lord of the Flies
focuses on the nurture theory, or the theory that evil is fueled by surroundings, but The Bad Seed
focuses on the nature theory, or the theory that evil is passed down through genetics, and you are born
evil. Second, in the Lord of the Flies, Jack, the antagonist, only resorts to murder after being on the

Pope John Paul 2 Summary
Technology and robots replacing the worker In Pope John Paul the II Laborem Exercens he is visiting
the idea of mankind s dignity in the work he does. During this encyclical, he is connecting work with
how it defines to be human and brings us to be better people. He does this in four separate chapters
starting with Work and Man . This chapter starts with The Church is convinced that work is a
fundamental dimension of man s existence on earth (Paul II, 2017). Mans existence on earth is to
work; this is clearly stated by Pope John Paul. The next key point in this chapter comes when Pope
John Paul the II states, in some instances, technology can cease to be man s ally and become almost
his enemy, as when the mechanization of work supplants him, taking away all personal satisfaction
and the incentive to creativity and responsibility, when it deprives many workers of their previous
employment, or when, through exalting the machine, it reduces man to the status of its slave (Paul II,
2017). This could be referring to how companies are starting to go the way of using robots instead of
people. The automation of so many jobs is not only taking away work from people but it is also
lowering wages as well. Pope John Paul the II, then goes into speaking about worker solidarity (Paul
II, 2017). He is suggesting the worker throughout the world unite to support each other throughout the
world to fight against injustice against the worker. Man was put on this earth to work. The

because nefarious character of a ruler strictly controls people and prevent them to do unacceptable

thought that came to mind. Riots are irrelevant because of how innocent people are victimized when
they aren t the ones causing the unfair treatment in our society. I wonder why individuals go against

Theme Of The Bible
What would you say is the main theme of the Bible?
Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the King of the Jews, has been revealed to us in the Old Testament.
Scripture revealed to the people how and when the Messiah would come and what would happen
during His time on Earth. Isaiah 53 speaks of the pain and suffering that Jesus would endure for His
people yet He would not defend himself. After he had suffered He would see the Light of Life and be
satisfied. God s righteous servant would justify and bear the sins of many and would make
intersession for the transgressors. (NIV) Zechariah 9 declares the He is righteous, victorious, just and
a lowly King riding on a donkey. His rule shall be to the ends of the earth, proclaiming peace to the
nations. (NIV) The New Testament conveys His birth, ministry, death, resurrection and second
coming. I am in complete agreement with Bickle and Jantz, (1998, p. 61) statement that God sent
Jesus so that creation may know the Creator furthermore, that Jesus Christ is the theme of the Bible. ...

The Role of Commander in Chief as Exemplified by Washington and Jackson
The position of President of the United States was created through the ratification of the United States
Constitution. One of the many roles assigned to the President was that of Commander in Chief. To
date, that role has been held by 45 different presidents. Two of the earliest presidents exemplified the
role of being Commander in Chief of a national military by personally leading a United States militia
to combat a rebellion and by using military intimidation to quell rebellions. Both George Washington
and Andrew Jackson exemplified the role of Commander in Chief when they faced the issue of
rebellion at different times in American history. George Washington quelled a rebellion of farmers in
Pittsburgh who were protesting the Whiskey Tax by physically leading an armed militia into the city.
Andrew Jackson, on the other hand, threatened South Carolina with military force by passing the
Force Bill following South Carolina s resistance to federal taxes.
Following the ratification of the Articles of Confederation in March of 1781, the Constitution of the
United States was placed in effect on March 4th, 1789 ( Nat l Constitution Center ). The Constitution
was created as a replacement for the Articles of Confederation with multiple purposes in mind. One of
the purposes of the Constitution was to create a national government, consisting of three branches,

The Care Of Heart Failure Patients Essay
Does the Use of Telemonitoring in the Care of Heart Failure Patients Reduce Hospitalization?
The heart is a vital organ that the body needs in order to survive and according to the Center for
Disease Control (CDC) 5.7 million people in the United States suffer from heart failure (HF) and
about half of heart failure patients die within five years of diagnosis, (CDC, n.d.). Heart failure is the
inability of the heart to pump blood sufficiently in order to meet the body s need. Heart failure is the
main reason for inpatient hospitalization and readmission in adults over 65 years old (Smith, 2013).
Advances in technology continue to change the practice of nursing and healthcare. Telemonitoring is
one major advance in technology that is changing the role and practice of nursing today.
Telemonitoring involves healthcare workers remotely monitoring patient s vital signs daily with the
goal of early detection of deteriorating conditions. This systematic review will present available data
regarding telemonitoring in heart failure patients and hospitalization.

United States President
The President is not only the head of state and government in the United States; he is also the
Commander in Chief of the armed forces. The President, according to the constitution, is supposed to
be responsible for carrying out and enforcing the laws created by Congress. The executive branch is
made up of many departments. There are fifteen executive departments that are led by a chosen
member. These departments are joined with other agencies like the CIA and EPA to fulfill daily
requirements. The President also appoints more than 50 independent federal commissions, like the
FRB (Federal Reserve Board) or the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as judges,
ambassadors, and other federal offices. The Executive Office of the President consists of the staff
directly linked to the President, along with the Office of Management and Budget and the Office of
the United States Trade Representative. The Executive Branch employs more than 4 million
Americans! The President doesn t have all the power, even though the President has the power to
either sign laws or to veto bills that are made by the Congress. Congress can override a veto with a
two thirds vote from both houses. The Executive Branch talks to other nations, and forms alliances.
The President has the power to negotiate and sign treaties, but it has to be ratified by two thirds of the

Virtue In The Meno
In the Meno, Socrates finds the meaning of the word virtue in terms of human wisdom. This definition
pursues a further question which is what makes the quest for wisdom possible? (Gallagher,

taught. Socrates says that doesn t have a complete and comprehensive understanding of virtue. This is

Analysis Of Willy Loman In Arthur Miller s Death Of A...
In the tragic play, Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, Miller shows the dark side of those living in
America who strive for success. The play follows a 63 year old struggling salesman living in the late
1940 s by the name of Willy Loman. Willy aspires to be wealthy and known by living out the
American Dream so he could support himself and his family. However, Willy, being the tragic hero,
ultimately fails in completing any of his goals. The suffering brought upon by Willy Loman and his
obsession with the American Dream contributes to the tragic vision of the play as a whole because
Willy was destined to fail at the get go, his vision of the American Dream conceals reality, and Willy s
beliefs that he holds dear are false. In Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, the protagonist and tragic
hero, Willy, was destined to be unsuccessful at the get go. In the play, it is revealed that Willy is
skilled with his hands. However, Willy remains a salesman, and never pursues a more hands on job. In
the requiem, after Linda explains that Willy was wonderful with his hands, Biff claims, He had the
wrong dreams. All, all wrong, (Miller 138). Biff means that Willy was going to inevitably fail as a
salesman because Willy sought prosperity with a job that didn t match his specialty. This statement
also hints that if Willy had a hands on job, maybe he could have been successful in life. Also, Willy s
stubbornness supports the fact that Willy was bound to fail. Whenever an opportunity

The Cause that Led to the Beginning of the Peloponnesian War
Ancient Greece during 4th Century BC was home to the city states of Sparta and Athens, who during
this time were the superpowers of the region. The Peloponnesian war between these city states and
their respective allies lasted from 431 404 BC, although conflicts between the two had dated back
further. Major fighting in the war occurred from 431 421 and ended in Athenian victory. However,
renewed conflict raged between 413 and 404 which resulted in Spartan victory.
The Peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta evolved from a string of events which I am going

Although Potidaea was a member of the Delian League, Athens and her allies, it had maintained the
right to receive magistrates from its mother city every year. Tired of paying tribute to Athens and
resentful of Athenian rule the citizens of Potidaea supported a revolt to expel Athenian power.
Both sides sent forces to Potidaea and once again Athenians were battling with Corinthians. Due to
aiding the people of Potidaea, Corinth faced an embargo by Athens which enraged Sparta. Any
appeals to Athens to stop the embargo were ignored, forcing the Spartans to coviene the
Peloponnesian council and lead the two cities one more step closer to war.
Thucydides wrote the growth of the power of Athens and the alarm which this inspired (in Sparta)
made war inevitable. This comment shows another element that contributed to the cause of the
Peloponnesian war.
After the Persian wars, there was a development of Athenian control when the Delian league was

condition s diagnosis, its implications on an individual s health, medications and therapies. The
diagnosis of Oppositional Defiant Disorder mainly comes as a result of observing certain
characteristics of individuals behaviors. For instance, children who demonstrate disrespect towards
authorities in their surroundings are usually diagnosed with the disorder. It is an exceptionally
prevalent psychiatric disorder that has detrimental repercussions for slightly over three per cent of
children and adolescents (Walter Matthys, 2012). According to the article, individuals suffering from

Positive And Negative Effects Of Social Media
Social media is a very popular and widely used medium of entertainment in today s society that allows
people to connect and congregate from all over the world without having to leave the comfort of
home. In order for many people to relieve social isolation and loneliness, social media unravels new
pathways of communication and can be used to help people open up and express their opinions
(Naruse). It can give people the chance to share and express their ideas to a large audience and receive
feedback. Large and small businesses alike use this platform of communication in order to relay
information about their products and services faster by using promotions and advertisements on social
media websites. While social media has proven itself to be helpful and beneficial in today s society,
there are many studies that show how it can take quite a toll on the mental health and wellbeing of the
people who constantly use it. Many people of all ages and from all over the world use social media on
a daily basis. While many people of different ages use it, social media seems to influence the lifestyle
of younger users, such as teenagers. Younger users of social media are usually more impressionable
and more likely to be affected and influenced by online trends and standards, and because these users
spend much more time on social media, they are more susceptible to create a habit of constantly
checking their phones and becoming addicted. As people spend more time on the Internet and

Henry David Thoreau And Ralph Waldo Emerson
Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson, a group of transcendentalists who brought great
ideals with them through the mid 1800 s. Their philosophy stated that people needed to stay true to
themselves and their own ideas, not those of society. One essay where Thoreau thoroughly exemplifies
this is in Civil Disobedience. Throughout this essay, Thoreau tries to show his point that even though
the government consists of more people, it will not always be correct. This means that the majority
does not always equal the better option and that if people go with what they think, then they will be
right. He asserts that anyone can constitute the majority of one and be the one person who draws
attention to an issue.
The NFL, the National Football League, where stars can shine doing what they love for millions of
fans, and where the NFL can create rules and policies every year to try and limit the freedom and take
control of it s players. It creates rules about what the players can and cannot wear, what they can do on
and off the field, and even when and where they have to speak. The more constraints the NFL puts on
the players, the more likely they will be to break them. In the past few years there have been more
movements against the NFL to try and earn some of the players rights back. Just as Thoreau presents
his and Emerson s ideas in Civil Disobedience, the players in the NFL still emulate their ideas by
being the majority of one (Thoreau).

History of Time Telling Machines
The Tick in the Clock New technology often begins with the clear intention of solving an ongoing
problem or satisfying a societal need. Many times, this new piece of technology is simple, such as the
toothpick. Other times, a new technology can be a thing of great complexity, such as a computer hard
drive or Facebook. One piece of technology in particular has changed the way human society has
functioned over the past few centuries. Everyone strives to keep track of time, as more and more
technologies arise and give way to an increased demand for a structured day. In order to do this, one
looks up at a clock.
The clock, to put it simply, is a device used to tell the hours, minutes, and seconds of a day. According
to Artemidorus of Daldis, a second century A.D. writer, A clock signifies occupations and
undertakings, movements and the start of transactions. For men keep their eyes on the time in all that
they do, (Dohrn van Rossum 17). Not only does a clock keep track of time, it signifies the need for the
human race to organize and control their surroundings, as it has been from the first encounter between
technology and the human race.
The technology of a clock is simple yet varied. The clock s shell is usually made out of brass, copper,
tin or zinc. After the shell is molded the components of the clock are assembled; significant working
parts including the face, arms, power source, gear train, escapement, wheels, mainspring, pendulum
and quartz are all

Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels By Jonathan Swift
Aldous Huxley once said, There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are
the doors of perception (The Personal Path to Virtue 20). Perception is present in every aspect of
society, for humans decipher receptive actions into comprehensible and consolidated views of the
Earth around them. From art, to music, and even to literature, everyone has his or her own perception,
one that can change and develop dependent upon everyone s own vision. In the novel, Gulliver s
Travels by Jonathan Swift, the reader will find their perception of the themes and the characters in the
book drastically different in the beginning of the story than at the end. When one first lays their hands
on a copy of Gulliver s Travels, the ideas and themes they would believe to be most obvious and
important would include adventure, discovery and the development of civilization. They would simply
formulate these ideas from the title and cover of the novel. However, as one reads the story and
divulges into the deeper meaning of Gulliver and his travels, he or she will find that the limits of
human understanding and the individual comparisons of nature versus society are much more present
in the novel than are adventure and discovery. Change is the underlining focus of this story. From the
themes to the actions of the characters and even to the motifs of the story, many facets of the story
change from the first to the last page due to the overwhelming significance of adventures that

Gender Discrimination In Sports
Gender discrimination in the sports industry has always been a controversial topic. Gender equality in
sports has come a long way. Like when UNESCO recognized sports and physical activity as a human
right in 1978. Discrimination is defined as unjust treatment of different categories of people or things.
Discrimination towards people has been around for a long time and it s affecting the entire world and
has taken large steps towards being demolished. These large steps have been taken to make the world
a better place and a lot of these discriminations have gotten smaller over time, but many of these are
still seen in everyday life, unfortunately. Discrimination against females has been a constant battle due
to the world being extremely male dominant. Women have had to fight against discrimination for
many things, such as freedom of speech, the right to vote, and equal rights to work. Women were
expected to be stay at home parents, taking care of the cleaning and housekeeping, and raising the
kids, and were not allowed to be on the workforce, do things they enjoy, or even get a little freedom.
Female discrimination in sports is a common issue all around the world, women are seen as not as
good as males, equality in sports is unequal, and the amount of pay and media coverage is different for
each sport and gender. We believe in making sure that women have the equal opportunity to enjoy the
benefits of sports by tackling sexism in sports at all levels. This includes challenging

The On Rain Forest Floor During Ecology Research
Introduction
In an attempt to avoid walking on the rain forest floor during ecology research in South America, rope
walkways were strung from tree to tree. To ensure the safety of the researchers, the maximum weight
that could be carried from tree to tree without the walkways collapsing had to be set. To model this
system, two pulleys containing a central object suspended halfway between them with counterweights
of equal mass on the outside of the pulleys was created, as shown in Figure 1. Our goal was to
determine how the sag of the walkway was related to the total mass at the center of the pulleys.
Figure 1: The apparatus used (not to scale). A and C are the masses of the counterweight objects. A
and C are equal masses. B is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
F1 is the weight of counterweight A, F2 is the weight of counterweight C, and Fw is the weight of the
central object. Also shown are the forces on a coordinate system for the counterweights and the central
object. The distances between the pulleys and the sag of the walkway are also shown on a coordinate
system.
The system is in equilibrium, so we assumed that the horizontal and vertical components of the forces
will add up to zero. The counterweights A and C both had an equal mass, so they were both referred to
as F1 to simplify calculations. Where Mw is the force of the mass of object B and gravity is g, we
could solve for Fw. Fw = Mwg (1)
Using the mass of the counterweight objects A and C, the force F1 can be calculated using MA and
gravity. Because the pulleys are frictionless the force F1 should be the same magnitude on all parts of
the string between the center object and the object A.
F1 = MAg (2)
Using the trigonometry function sin, a combination of equations (1) and (2), and the law of
equilibrium ΣF = 0 where Fy=0 and Fx=0, the angle ϕ can be found.
F1sinϕ + F1sinϕ = Fw (3)
Rearranging equation (3) to give the angle ϕ by itself gives ϕ = sin 1(Fw/2F1) (4)
Since the walkway system creates a right triangle, the laws of trigonometry could also be used. With
the distance where the object B lies between the pulleys as L/2 and the angle ϕ, the sag of the central
object, D, could be found.
D = Ltanϕ/2 (5)
Combining equations (4) and (5) to

The Synthesis Of Most Coagulation Factors And Inhibitors
Liver has many haemostatic functions including the synthesis of most coagulation factors and
inhibitors as well as fibrinolytic factors. The balance between procoagulant and anticoagulant factors
is essential to prevent excessive blood loss from injured vessels and to prevent spontaneous
thrombosis(11).The global effect of liver disease with regard to hemostasis is therefore complex, so
that patients with advanced liver disease can experience severe bleeding or even thrombotic
complications(12).In our study as regards presence of co morbid factors namely DM and
hypertension, the prevalence of DM and hypertension was higher in PVT group than non PVT group,
these results match the findings reported by Martinelli et al.(13) who clarified that hypertension and
DM were associated with increased risk of PVT. That finding may be attributed to the association of
dyslipidemia with diabetes and increased risk of atherosclerosis. So patients with liver cirrhosis and

Social Construction, Organic Solidarity And Culture
In my eighteen years of living, I ve been conforming to the societal norms set for me. Ranging from
the career path I m taking to simple everyday activities, society has impacted all aspects of my life.
Sometimes we fear going against what is normal for us to do because of the consequences that might
happen. Ironically, most people do not fully understand that these norms have been pushed on them,
but they continuously follow them day to day. The majority of what affects our daily lives is
socialization, with the addition of social construction, organic solidarity and culture (Giddens, A.,
Duneier, M., Appelbaum, R., Carr, D., 2014). In every attempt to break free from the chain put upon
us by these societal norms, we only dig ourselves deeper into what society wants from us. Recently I
ve attempted to dig deeper into how the high demands of society has affected me personally and I ve
realized that it started from the time that I was born. Ideally, one needs to understand the cultural turn
in their lives to understand how everything surrounding them in their daily lives (Giddens, 2014, p.
60). Starting at a very young age, I ve been labeled by society. When I was born, no one focused on

Essay On Jersey Shore
Television genres in the post network era are important because genres can target a larger range of
audience, which results in higher ratings. Genres also help create different and unique narratives that
influence popular culture. Jersey Shore illustrates how the reality television genre has a huge impact
on popular culture, society and viewers. Jersey Shore is about women and men some of Italian descent
that party and do whatever they want. The show explicitly illustrates the roles of guidos (males) and
guidettes (females), these people are working class Italian Americans. Even though the show is
representing the Italian population in the U.S. it is not doing a proper job because the representation is
incorrect. The characters and performances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Colbert Report is an American late night talk show, which is a news satire and comedic program.
The show illustrates how the comedy and satire genre is important when it comes to informing people
about political and controversial topics. The comedic element of the show makes the program
entertaining and informative. In comparison to The Harvest of Shame this documentary that was used
to inform the American people about a sever issue made people feel bad, it was depressing. The
Colbert Report takes boring political issues and makes them interested, which appeals to younger
adults. Many young adults do not pay attention to politics because it is boring or too difficult to
understand. The show takes a political subject, simplifies it and makes it interesting. For example, in
one episode he discusses the 2016 election and makes fun of a statement of Donald Trump, it s not
only funny, but informative. Stephen Colbert is always talking to the audience directly, which creates a
better connect with the viewers. Shows like The Colbert Report bring people together to discuss
important topics. The comedy and satire of the show is just a technique to reach more people and
create a safe environment to discuss these sensitive topics. There are many talk shows that are
comedic and satire because it makes the show self reflexive. In conclusion, genre is a major factor
when it comes to creating

  • 2. Analysis Of Porter s Five Forces Model VALUE INNOVATION Despite recessions and shifting markets some companies grow in revenues and profits. Why is this so? FIVE FORCES MODEL Until recently, Porter s Five Forces Model was the dominant theory applied to factors driving competitive forces in an industry. It hypothesizes that the level of competitive intensity within an industry arises from five specific sources in determining attractiveness of an industry to potential entrants. Porter developed Five Forces Analysis in response to SWOT analysis, a model he found too vague. In this economic model, while rivalry between competing firms drives profits toward zero, industry players understand competition is imperfect so companies do their utmost to achieve a competitive advantage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The number of suppliers you need to maintain key aspects of production, the uniqueness of these features, and your switching costs between suppliers are all critical. The fewer your suppliers, the greater your dependency on fewer upstream providers, the more power each wields. CUSTOMER BARGAINING POWER How powerful are your customers relative to your value proposition? The smaller your customer base, the more concentrated its power. The significance of each customer within your client base, and the lower your customer s switching costs, can all conspire to drive your prices down. THREAT OF SUBSTITUTES Product substitutions in place of a company s products or services are a threat. If your customers rely on you to provide a tool or service that can be easily substituted with that of another tool or service provider, your market power is weakened. When rivals become aggressive within a given marketplace a counter response by one or more competitors typically occurs. A competitor can choose among several options: Changing prices this can result in a temporary advantage since competitors can quickly follow suit. Improving product differentiation requires more time, but improved features, improved quality can bear long term results. Using distribution channels creatively ignore traditional channels through vertical integration or distributing through non traditional outlets. The major risk in the latter strategy is to the ... • 3. Challenges for Building Stable Democracies Essay Challenges for Building Stable Democracies It has been stated that the Bush administration s goal is to have America spread democracy around the world. This may sound radical, but it is really just what our foreign policy has been for the past 60 or so years. The only difference is that now there is no evil communist empire, the USSR has fallen. America has a new ideological enemy the theocracies and oppressive regimes around the world especially Africa and the Middle East, the places that breed terrorists. The Bush administration and most people feel that the best way to stop Terrorism is to wipe out its source. However, in building democracies in the Middle East and other parts in the world there are some extreme difficulties in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One thing any democratic state needs to do when they are setting up another new democratic state is they must make sure that the new government is seen as legitimate by the people in it. And the democracy is pretty much doomed if the people despise it. The easiest way not to have the government despised is proposed in Machiavelli s The Prince. In it he states It makes him hated above all things, as I have said, to be rapacious, and to be a violator of the property and women of his subjects, from both of which he must abstain. And when neither their property nor honour is touched, the majority of men live content, and he has only to contend with the ambition of a few, whom he can curb with ease in many ways. (Machiavelli unknown page) As long as these two things are insured for the people then most rational men will not rebel. Getting the government to represent the people is really the hardest part of setting up a new government. Because it has to represent the vast majority of the people, say at least 90% but it also has to be able to get things done fast. Many people think a parliamentary government with many parties like the one in France would answer this problem; the only problem is that because there are so many parties, every cabinet is a coalition of parties that can easily fall apart and can usually get only limited things done. Any new government needs to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Knowledge Question: To what extent does our sense perception limit the way we perceive reality? Word Count: 800 Knowledge is an extensive concept which has no precise definition since it has no end or limit. In a constantly changing world, several individuals have different upbringings, prejudices, viewpoints and the way we perceive or understand certain things may be different from how they are in reality. Firstly sense perception, in this case is simply what the eyes see, the nose smells, the ears hear or the body feels. Secondly, reality is not a subjective knowledge, but rather an objective one. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our senses help us gather and respond to information about our surroundings, which in turn aids our survival through our reciprocation to most sensory information.Improvements in science have enhanced the quality of life for many people with sensory disabilities by providing things as alternative methods of communication, increasing mobility and technology for sensory enhancement. For example, sound and smell has a strong influence in our daily lives it increases our emotional quotient thus improving our productivity during work. Therefore, the way we perceive reality can be tied to our emotions hence, sense perception in some ways can grow our perception of reality. To conclude, I personally believe that sense perception is dependent on many external factors thus can limit the way we perceive reality and can sometimes betray us or memory that influences our ways of knowing. Reality is altered everyday to some extent. However, we have become intelligent enough to understand this idea over the decades, hence we can not let these things come in the way of truth. That is why we use reason and logic and put aside our sense perceptions and try to see things not as they are but as we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Personal Narrative-Demi Lovato Concert What are you all waiting for? asks a woman passing by. There s a Demi Lovato concert tonight, someone replies. The woman smiles, wishes us a good time and continues on her way, likely to lunch, as it is one o clock in the afternoon. Since the concert doesn t start until 8pm, the line is not extremely long, but it consists of at least fifty people, some of whom arrived at nine that morning. I always strive to be the first in line, however there are always roughly 10 people ahead of me by the time I arrive at noon. Seeing people in front of me in line always makes me anxious. What if I don t end up in the front row? Will I have wasted an entire day? What most people don t realize is the stress that comes with waiting in line all day. Sometimes workers move the line from place to place to prevent sidewalks from becoming blocked, however this makes everyone near the front of the line extremely nervous, for the people in the back of the line jump at the opportunity to be closer to the front. Leaders are aware that things cannot be done alone so including their employees and team members is what has to happen. They work together to create goals and they establish relationships along the way showing their team members that they care for their well being. While mistakes do happen, it s up to the leader and their team to establish a truthful relationship so that if a situation arises, it could be handled. Opening up to either a leader or a team member can be a very difficult task. If an individual is one where they have had a bad experience, it could be very difficult for one to accomplish this. Leaders should always go first in opening up because it allows for a high level of performance amongst teams and it also creates a trusting environment for employees (Kouzes Posner, 2012). • 7. New Zealand s Legal Architecture And Constitutional... Democracy is government of the people, by the people, for the people. Many theorists believe that New Zealand has a weak constitutional framework and therefore a weak democratic structure. However there are many other theorists who state that unwritten constitutions bring flexibility, and can evolve with modern society. The accuracy of this statement can be evaluated in relation to New Zealand s legal architecture and constitutional arrangements. New Zealand doesn t have a single codified constitutional document, and it is therefore said to be unwritten. Our flexible constitution can be altered by Parliament, because Parliament is supreme. New Zealand has a Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) system of government, meaning we have a majority of minority parties, and this has effected parliamentary sovereignty. Practically, MMP has caused a change to the system of government, and it may not be as easy in reality to alter the constitution, this is because consensus would be harder to achieve. Constitutionalism and the rule of law, implies political responsibility to the people through the legislature, elected by the people. This shows that although in theory New Zealand s democratic structure may look skeletal and fragile, in practice there are many checks in place that can be said to prevent such weaknesses, these are provided below. Our constitutional documents are sourced in many pieces of legislation. The New Zealand Constitution Act 1852 holds the origins of our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It referred to a group of non aligned countries that claimed to operate separately from the influences of the great powers. The movement represented the emergence of the Third World as a self conscious political grouping. Solidarity was predicated upon common economic structures that were distinctive from both the Eastern block planned economies and the Western free market system (Smith, n.d: 17). The Third World as a political project was intrinsically linked to decolonization. Developing nations were encouraged to stand against Western intervention and involvement in the economic affairs of the Third World (Smith, n.d: 17). In addition, the project aimed to establish a new international economic order in which developing countries would have greater control over their own natural resources (Smith, n.d: 18). It also called for more cooperation in the third world in order to lessen their dependence on leading institutional forums. As one of the most influential proponents of the Third World Project, Jawaharlal Nehru specifically worked to promote ideas of global interconnectedness, world peace and non alignment. This chapter starts with The Church is convinced that work is a fundamental dimension of man s existence on earth (Paul II, 2017). Mans existence on earth is to work; this is clearly stated by Pope John Paul. Both sides sent forces to Potidaea and once again Athenians were battling with Corinthians. Due to aiding the people of Potidaea, Corinth faced an embargo by Athens which enraged Sparta. Any appeals to Athens to stop the embargo were ignored, forcing the Spartans to coviene the Peloponnesian council and lead the two cities one more step closer to war. Thucydides wrote the growth of the power of Athens and the alarm which this inspired (in Sparta) made war inevitable. This comment shows another element that contributed to the cause of the Peloponnesian war. After the Persian wars, there was a development of Athenian control when the Delian league was formed which was an alliance of cities based around Athens. In order for many people to relieve social isolation and loneliness, social media unravels new pathways of communication and can be used to help people open up and express their opinions (Naruse). It can give people the chance to share and express their ideas to a large audience and receive feedback. Large and small businesses alike use this platform of communication in order to relay information about their products and services faster by using promotions and advertisements on social media websites. While social media has proven itself to be helpful and beneficial in today s society, there are many studies that show how it can take quite a toll on the mental health and wellbeing of the people who constantly use it. Many people of all ages and from all over the world use social media on a daily basis. • 32. Henry David Thoreau And Ralph Waldo Emerson Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson, a group of transcendentalists who brought great ideals with them through the mid 1800 s. Their philosophy stated that people needed to stay true to themselves and their own ideas, not those of society. One essay where Thoreau thoroughly exemplifies this is in Civil Disobedience. Throughout this essay, Thoreau tries to show his point that even though the government consists of more people, it will not always be correct. This means that the majority does not always equal the better option and that if people go with what they think, then they will be right. He asserts that anyone can constitute the majority of one and be the one person who draws attention to an issue. The NFL, the National Football League, where stars can shine doing what they love for millions of fans, and where the NFL can create rules and policies every year to try and limit the freedom and take control of it s players. It creates rules about what the players can and cannot wear, what they can do on and off the field, and even when and where they have to speak. The more constraints the NFL puts on the players, the more likely they will be to break them. In the past few years there have been more movements against the NFL to try and earn some of the players rights back. Just as Thoreau presents his and Emerson s ideas in Civil Disobedience, the players in the NFL still emulate their ideas by being the majority of one (Thoreau). A recent example of an NFL ... • 33. History of Time Telling Machines The Tick in the Clock New technology often begins with the clear intention of solving an ongoing problem or satisfying a societal need. Many times, this new piece of technology is simple, such as the toothpick. Other times, a new technology can be a thing of great complexity, such as a computer hard drive or Facebook. One piece of technology in particular has changed the way human society has functioned over the past few centuries. Everyone strives to keep track of time, as more and more technologies arise and give way to an increased demand for a structured day. In order to do this, one looks up at a clock. The clock, to put it simply, is a device used to tell the hours, minutes, and seconds of a day. According to Artemidorus of Daldis, a second century A.D. writer, A clock signifies occupations and undertakings, movements and the start of transactions. For men keep their eyes on the time in all that they do, (Dohrn van Rossum 17). Not only does a clock keep track of time, it signifies the need for the human race to organize and control their surroundings, as it has been from the first encounter between technology and the human race. The technology of a clock is simple yet varied. The clock s shell is usually made out of brass, copper, tin or zinc. After the shell is molded the components of the clock are assembled; significant working parts including the face, arms, power source, gear train, escapement, wheels, mainspring, pendulum and quartz are all ... • 36. Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels By Jonathan Swift Aldous Huxley once said, There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception (The Personal Path to Virtue 20). Perception is present in every aspect of society, for humans decipher receptive actions into comprehensible and consolidated views of the Earth around them. From art, to music, and even to literature, everyone has his or her own perception, one that can change and develop dependent upon everyone s own vision. In the novel, Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the reader will find their perception of the themes and the characters in the book drastically different in the beginning of the story than at the end. When one first lays their hands on a copy of Gulliver s Travels, the ideas and themes they would believe to be most obvious and important would include adventure, discovery and the development of civilization. They would simply formulate these ideas from the title and cover of the novel. However, as one reads the story and divulges into the deeper meaning of Gulliver and his travels, he or she will find that the limits of human understanding and the individual comparisons of nature versus society are much more present in the novel than are adventure and discovery. Change is the underlining focus of this story. From the themes to the actions of the characters and even to the motifs of the story, many facets of the story change from the first to the last page due to the overwhelming significance of adventures that ... • 37. Gender Discrimination In Sports Gender discrimination in the sports industry has always been a controversial topic. Gender equality in sports has come a long way. Like when UNESCO recognized sports and physical activity as a human right in 1978. Discrimination is defined as unjust treatment of different categories of people or things. Discrimination towards people has been around for a long time and it s affecting the entire world and has taken large steps towards being demolished. These large steps have been taken to make the world a better place and a lot of these discriminations have gotten smaller over time, but many of these are still seen in everyday life, unfortunately. Discrimination against females has been a constant battle due to the world being extremely male dominant. Women have had to fight against discrimination for many things, such as freedom of speech, the right to vote, and equal rights to work. Women were expected to be stay at home parents, taking care of the cleaning and housekeeping, and raising the kids, and were not allowed to be on the workforce, do things they enjoy, or even get a little freedom. Female discrimination in sports is a common issue all around the world, women are seen as not as good as males, equality in sports is unequal, and the amount of pay and media coverage is different for each sport and gender. We believe in making sure that women have the equal opportunity to enjoy the benefits of sports by tackling sexism in sports at all levels. This includes challenging ... • 38. The On Rain Forest Floor During Ecology Research Introduction In an attempt to avoid walking on the rain forest floor during ecology research in South America, rope walkways were strung from tree to tree. To ensure the safety of the researchers, the maximum weight that could be carried from tree to tree without the walkways collapsing had to be set. To model this system, two pulleys containing a central object suspended halfway between them with counterweights of equal mass on the outside of the pulleys was created, as shown in Figure 1. Our goal was to determine how the sag of the walkway was related to the total mass at the center of the pulleys. Figure 1: The apparatus used (not to scale). A and C are the masses of the counterweight objects. A and C are equal masses. B is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... F1 is the weight of counterweight A, F2 is the weight of counterweight C, and Fw is the weight of the central object. Also shown are the forces on a coordinate system for the counterweights and the central object. The distances between the pulleys and the sag of the walkway are also shown on a coordinate system. The system is in equilibrium, so we assumed that the horizontal and vertical components of the forces will add up to zero. The counterweights A and C both had an equal mass, so they were both referred to as F1 to simplify calculations. Where Mw is the force of the mass of object B and gravity is g, we could solve for Fw. Fw = Mwg (1) Using the mass of the counterweight objects A and C, the force F1 can be calculated using MA and gravity. Because the pulleys are frictionless the force F1 should be the same magnitude on all parts of the string between the center object and the object A. F1 = MAg (2) Using the trigonometry function sin, a combination of equations (1) and (2), and the law of equilibrium ΣF = 0 where Fy=0 and Fx=0, the angle ϕ can be found. F1sinϕ + F1sinϕ = Fw (3) Rearranging equation (3) to give the angle ϕ by itself gives ϕ = sin 1(Fw/2F1) (4) Since the walkway system creates a right triangle, the laws of trigonometry could also be used. With the distance where the object B lies between the pulleys as L/2 and the angle ϕ, the sag of the central object, D, could be found. D = Ltanϕ/2 (5)

The Synthesis Of Most Coagulation Factors And Inhibitors Liver has many haemostatic functions including the synthesis of most coagulation factors and inhibitors as well as fibrinolytic factors. The balance between procoagulant and anticoagulant factors is essential to prevent excessive blood loss from injured vessels and to prevent spontaneous thrombosis(11).The global effect of liver disease with regard to hemostasis is therefore complex, so that patients with advanced liver disease can experience severe bleeding or even thrombotic complications(12).In our study as regards presence of co morbid factors namely DM and hypertension, the prevalence of DM and hypertension was higher in PVT group than non PVT group, these results match the findings reported by Martinelli et al.(13) who clarified that hypertension and DM were associated with increased risk of PVT. That finding may be attributed to the association of dyslipidemia with diabetes and increased risk of atherosclerosis. So patients with liver cirrhosis and associated with diabetes or hypertension carry the risk for PVT more than cirrhotics without them. Ranging from the career path I m taking to simple everyday activities, society has impacted all aspects of my life. Sometimes we fear going against what is normal for us to do because of the consequences that might happen. Ironically, most people do not fully understand that these norms have been pushed on them, but they continuously follow them day to day. The majority of what affects our daily lives is socialization, with the addition of social construction, organic solidarity and culture (Giddens, A., Duneier, M., Appelbaum, R., Carr, D., 2014). In every attempt to break free from the chain put upon us by these societal norms, we only dig ourselves deeper into what society wants from us.
