Descriptive Essay At The MarketDescriptive Essay At The Market
The Establishment Of A Free Market Economy
The establishment of a free market economy with the creation of joint stock companies in the
modern day Netherlands during the 1500 1600s spelt the beginning of capitalism, an economic
system which has, since this period, brought untold prosperity to billions throughout the world. Its
proliferation throughout Europe is one of the primary reasons why in the centuries thereafter it
became the sole hegemon on the world stage, with its greatest embracer, Great Britain, holding
sway over a fourth of the globe by the mid nineteenth century. Since these European centuries,
liberal economic thought has spread throughout the world, with vibrant, flourishing economies
sprouting in places from Singapore to Japan to even China, with its tentative economic
liberalization being the direct result in hundreds of millions being lifted out of poverty. With such a
good track record, one would be surprised that the bulk of the intelligentsia of this country is
opposed to the continuation of a liberal, free market system. Indeed, in their papers on higher
education in America, Mark Edmundson and William Deresiewicz indict the capitalist system as
the bane of higher education, accusing the profiteering of private institutions as the primary reason
why students are receiving a sub par education. Using terms such as consumerism and neoliberalism
pejoratively, they posit that each system has had an adverse affect on higher education, and present
differing solutions to put an end to the problems

The Tragedy Of Jacob And The Princes
Everything went silent. Everyone was staring at me with shock. I can feel the guilt come off of
them in waves.
Let her go, Prince Coby whispers quietly. So quietly that not many people could hear it, including
the executioner. A moment later after realizing the executioner didn t hear Coby yells angrily, Let
her go!
The executioner flinches but quickly after he lets me up. I crawl to my shaky feet.
I look around at everyone but as soon as I meet the gaze they look down in shame. I look at Jacob.
I let my betrayal and hurt shine through. He looks at me and then at the ground.

Morganne we need to talk, Jacob began. I know that you are a little freaked about what I said.
A little! A little? try a whole fucking lot! I scream in his face. Here let me give you a scenario.
First, you get attacked by unknown people. Then, you get teleported to an unknown land where
you find out you have powers. Then, you get falsely accused of being a spy and sent to
execution. Then lastly, right before you re about to be executed your boyfriend screams out that
you re a princess. I say in a sickly sweet voice. Now let me ask you a question, how would you react
if all that happened to you? Because I know how I am reacting to that. I am pretty damn freaked
out and I m hoping that this is some sick joke or a nightmare. I say slowly feeling the panic take
over.
I start to hyperventilate. Tears are threatening to fall down my face. Someone kneels in front of me
and touches my arm. I look up and see it is Prince Bobby.
I can help you calm down all you need to do is allow me. He says softly.
No, I say softly. No, No, No. Don t fucking touch me. I yell while slapping his arm away. The
tears start to fall and I can t stop it. I hear Prince Bobby exhale with frustration. Jacob kneels down
in front of me and grabs my hand.
Morganne is there anything I can do for you. Just tell me what you want. Jacob said in a soft
voice. I look at him straight in the eye. Tears still flowing down my cheeks..

Our study shows that EU deregulation altered the five competitive forces in European airline
industry and in turn this fostered entrepreneurship and innovation, as a reaction of firms to adapt to
the change in their context. The reaction of Ryanair and SAS through entrepreneurial and
innovative behaviour was different due to the differences in their business model. We argue that the
removal of barriers to new entrants and the increased rivalry between firms were the main forces
that fostered entrepreneurship and innovation. We predict that if further EU deregulation comes (as
it is the trend) this will generate more opportunities to entrepreneurship and innovation like it
generated in the past.

German Economy Essay
Economics
The German economy is the largest in Europe and worldwide Germany has the fifth largest
economy ( World fact book , n.d.). It is clear that the German economy holds a key position in
the world marketplace. Gross domestic product (GDP) growth is an important consideration for
foreign investment as it speaks to the overall health of an economy. GDP growth can be
attributed to spending and investments both on and from imports and exports ( What is GDP ,
2005). In 2014 the reported GDP growth rate in Germany was 1.4%, up .9 % from the prior year
( World fact book n.d.). The Eurozone was deeply affected by a recession stemming from the US
and made worse by poor economic conditions in Greece and Spain, among other countries in ...

In 2014 trade as share of GDP was 70.8 percent, down less than three percent from the two years
prior ( Merchandise trade , n.d.). This is one of those areas in which only time will tell whether
Germany will continue to prosper and be the financial backbone of the Eurozone.
GDP per capita is also an important indicator of economic health. GDP per capita takes the total
output of a country and divides it by the number of people in a countries population; this
indicated the buying power of individuals. GDP per capita in Germany as reported for 2014 was
slightly over 47,000 USD ( Countries with the largest , n.d.). Looking at GDP per capita when
compared to other countries in the Eurozone Germany is not fairing so well. Luxembourg leads
the world wide GDP per capita and that of the Eurozone with a high rate of 116,750 USD (
Countries with the largest , n.d.). Worldwide Germany ranks 16th in the Eurozone, Germany was
beat out by Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands in GDP per capita (
Countries with the largest , n.d.). While the GDP per capita rate in Germany is stronger than many
other countries it is not competitive with other countries which have economies comparable in size
to Germany nor economies centrally located in the Eurozone.
A low inflation rate averaging .91 percent for 2014 should help to increase purchases in Germany.
This is because consumers can get more for the

Viral, bacterial, or fungal infection.
Emotional stress.
Foods or chemicals that irritate the mouth.
Injury or physical irritation of the mouth.
Medicines.
Allergies.
Tobacco use.
Less common causes include:
Skin disease.
The herpes virus (herpes simplex). When oral ulcers are caused by herpes simplex, they are
commonly referred to as cold sores or fever blisters.
Oral cancer.
RISK FACTORS
Oral ulcers are more likely to develop in:
People who wear dental braces, dentures, or retainers.
People who don t keep their mouth clean and brush their teeth regularly.
People with sensitive skin.
People with conditions that affect their entire body (systemic conditions), such as immune disorders.
SYMPTOMS

An Explanation Of The Scientific Importance Of Human...
An Explanation of the Scientific Importance of the Human Genome Project
The human genome project is an international effort that serves as a possible solution to the
many diseases that affect billions of people worldwide. This project is a great milestone in the
field of genetics as it allows scientists to determine the sequence of genes in chromosomes which
will show where disease causing mutations are occurring and what can be done to reverse it.
Looking back in time, many of the diseases which could be cured were done by administering
drugs and certain types of therapies. As the complexity of technology as well as advancements in
the understanding of our bodies increased, more diseases became curable through these very drugs
and therapies. However, many times individuals find it hard to deal with the side effects that these
solutions create. The human genome project aims to make disease and illnesses curable more
efficiently and to become readily available to individuals throughout the world. It is therefore
necessary the that society begins to accept this project as the new frontier in medical treatment and
prevention of diseases. By having a greater investment and understanding in the Human genome
Project, the scientific community will determine more information about DNA to develop treatment
plans, prevention methods, and develop cures to diseases that affect humans; thus yielding
medically important information for society. When attempting to understand what the

The Golden Era of East Coast Hip-Hop

Attention will also be centred on the legacy left, concentrating on the music that was influenced as
well as the resulting change in fashion and political views. Historical roots influence The East

The Life Course of a Mass Murderer
On April 16, 2007 one of the most devastating mass murders in U.S history occurred at a Virginia
college. Seung Hui Cho a 23 year old South Korean alone executed the killing of 33 people by
securing colleges doors to prevent escape of any students. Events such as these are truly tragic and
devastating to all involved. By gathering background information about Seung Hui Cho, we can

this particular occurrence was preventable. Born in South Korea, Seung Hui Cho immigrated to

Cho had a hard childhood and was in the shadows of his very successful sister. Even in college
Cho had no friends and began to look up to other school shooters as martyrs. Although these
individuals were not his friends at all in his situation they were the closest thing to having friends.
In college Cho was accused of stalking women on two different occasions, was caught taking
photos of the legs of female students in class and was separated out of classes. I believe that Cho s
antisocial lifestyle along with the transition any from home eventually lead him to commit the mass
murder. Cho s anti social lifestyle seemed to escalate to criminal behaviors from the time he went
off to college until the time of the Virginia Tech shooting. I believe that this tragedy could have
been prevented if the proper preventative measures and treatment techniques were taken. As a boy
Cho should have been taken in for a mental evaluation but I believe the integration of his family
into the American society prevented that. In high school Cho being bullied and teased could have
been put to a stop by teachers and surrounding students. Also when Cho started writing gruesome
poems short stories and plays he should have been recommended to a counselor. Any counselor that
Cho had encounters with could have been a lot more persistent in getting to the bottom of Cho s
situations. A teacher college teacher doesn t just separate a student from her class. Finally

It is a metaphor for community. In the Leaving a Legacy unit, many social and historical

For many children around the world, music programs in school are not available to them. Music

For kids everywhere, having music class once a week is more common than at least 3 music

Stressors Definition
Stressors have been an important aspect of our class journals each week through the semester.
Which leads to the question of where do these stressors come from and why? Stressors are a
source of strain that has both an objective and subjective view. Objectively, in a work setting it is
based on how much you put into the work and the number of hours you are completing. Whereas
subjectively, involves more of the perception of the work and how the work is being done.
Strain is the response to these stressors, which include behavioral, physical and psychological
aspects. Behavioral strain has an impact on a person s ability to perform in the work place and
how their feelings have an impact on the quality of the performance. A physical response is when
something is concretely happening to you and you can feel the strain and pressure from the
outcome. The third response is almost a final point of how a person feels which is psychological.

Caterpillar, obviously, has taken on a large amount of risk to itself because of this. If Caterpillar
were forced to liquidate its assets and pay off its debt, it would have a very hard time trying.
Therefore, Caterpillar s receivable account is a real weakness to the corporation as a whole.
Inventories
Inventories have been valued $871 million, an increase of $150 million from last year. This can
be viewed in a multitude of ways. Caterpillar may be expecting larger sales volume, and are trying
to compensate. Caterpillar could have inventory control problems. Usually, inventory increases are
viewed as a negative with a company that should be in theory practicing a just in time approach.
Cash
Cash on hand is $398 million. This is only a $110 million increase from December 31, 1999. This
means relatively little, as the cash flows for the corporation is what really matters. One look at the
statement of cash flows indicates that Caterpillar keeps capital expenditures consistent quarter after
quarter. The change in cash and short term investments indicate the company is removing most of
its liquidity. The movement from cash has been used to alleviate its debt.
Property, Plant, and Equipment Spending on longer term assets has not fluctuated much for the

The Cause And Causes Of The Spanish Inquisition
The Spanish Inquisition
Introduction
The word Inquisition refers to the tribunal court system used by the Catholic Church to suppress
and punish the heretics. All people who were considered against catholic teachings were called
heretics
The Spanish Inquisition was the prosecuting, trying and killing of all heretics. Clergymen from the
Catholics Church went around and persecuted anybody that questioned the ChurchВґs teachings or
was any other religion. In consequences, all the Protestants, Jews and Muslims from Spain where
considered as heretics and persecuted.

Sociological effects
The end of a multicultural framework. Massive conversion of Jews. The elimination of a plural,

An Emergency Case Of Emergency Involving Chemical Release
Sorensen et al. (2004) states that two questions play a significant role in concluding whether to
evacuate or provide in place shelter in case of an emergency involving chemical release. The
first question to consider is will shelter in place provides adequate protection? And second thing
to consider is if there is enough time to evacuate. There are various advantages and
disadvantages of both the responses (Sorensen et al., 2004). The advantages of instituting shelter
in place are that it is: It is immediate; people are more relaxed in their familiar surroundings and
feel secure; and basic amenities like food, clothing, water, telephone, radio and television are
readily available. The disadvantage is that precise, correct, dependable information is more
complicated to receive. On the other hand the advantages of evacuating are that people are away
from the exposed chemicals, and moved to mass care shelters, plus information is more reliable
and medical relief is prompt. Some of the disadvantages of evacuation are that it is time
consuming; evacuees may not listen to the directions and decide to stay home and some might
decide to move to other locations making it very difficult to track those (Sorenen et al., 2004).
Evacuation is usually the last resort considered as it is very complex and involves various
processes. The most important concern is that communities should be well planned ahead of time
and have an emergency preparedness plan and educate the public about

Monarch Butterflies are famous for their migration in North America. In the fall, these butterflies
migrate from Canada to the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico to avoid the colder weather. The
cycle continues as the butterflies fly back to Canada in the the spring. Just like the butterflies are
affected by the extreme weather, humans can also be affected by the surroundings. One such
example is the novel, 1984 in which, George Orwell explores the theme of repression using stylistic
elements such as irony, foreshadowing, and characterization, he reveals how totalitarian
government s control on the society influences Winston s life and even his psychological traits,

The Bible By Abel Cain And The Other Abel
In the Bible there is a story of two brothers, one called Cain, and the other Abel. Cain and Abel
were the first humans created by Adam and Eve, who, according to the Bible, were the first
humans created. A day came when Cain and Abel both went to make an offering unto God of
their harvest and flock. Cain s offering of his first harvest of fruits was rejected by God but Abel
s flock was not, and out of hatred and jealousy Cain violently slew his brother. Humanity is not
supposed to behave violently towards one another. Before Cain and Abel, human blood had
never been spilled in vain, and from the spewing of Abel s blood the evil tendencies of man were
unleashed into the world. Prior to Abel s murder, there was no war, man had not fought and sword
had not been raised. It was from Cain punishment, which struck the feeling of hatred and the idea
of war to solve problems. The Vietnam War, also known as the Second Indochina War, was a
military struggle fought in Vietnam from 1959 to 1975 between the United StatesForces and the
Vietnamese army. Vietnam was the first significant war lost by the United States of America. It
was the first war to be broadcasted nightly through television sets across the nation. The Vietnam
war was not favored by the majority of Americans, partly because of the compulsory draft and anti
war culture of America. The aftermath of the Vietnam War is the subject for many texts by several

La Tomatina Research Paper
The holiday, La Tomatina, is a tradition that has gone on for generations. Spain is the main country
that celebrates it every year, but tens of thousands travel from all parts of the world to participate
in it. La Tomatina means tomato festival , and is very self explanatory from its definition. On the
last Wednesday of August, people throw over ripe tomatoesat one another the entire day, leaving
people drenched in tomato carnage, but in utter happiness as well. In all, more than 100 metric
tons of tomatoes are used in the festival! It is quite questionable of how such a holiday came to be.

As most would have assumed, tomatoes are eaten during the festival and are prepared in many
ways (simmered, fresh, crushed). Tomato sauce is also served with entrees such as eggs or any
kind of meat. There are even paella cooking contests, and a palo jabГіn , an event in which brave
participants climb a greased wooden pole all the way to the top, where there will be a leg of
ham. The street fight with tomatoes will only begin after these two events. There are some
specific rules to follow when having a gigantic food fight with tomatoes. For one, objects cannot
be thrown that could cause harm to others. This includes the tomatoes, which may only be
thrown if they are soft or crushed. People during the festival wear rugged and/or dirty clothing,
and another rule states people cannot tear or rip clothing to throw tomatoes at someone. Despite
the number of rules that need to be followed, the festival is still very fun. The food fight occurs
between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. At the beginning of the food fight, trucks haul all the tomatoes
into the town, which are paid for at an inexpensive price. The firing of water cannons signals the
beginning of the festival, which is typically every man for himself . After a few hours, the festival
will end and no tomatoes can be thrown. As this point, fire trucks spray down the streets to clean
them. The people, unsurprisingly, quickly go to wash themselves (there

Smoking Vs Grilling Research
If you want to become a grilling expert, it is important to learn about the two main ways to cook
over an open flame: smoking and grilling. What are their main differences? Is the flavor from one
different from the flavor from the other? We will consider these questions and more as we look at
smoking vs. grilling. What is the difference between smoking and grilling?
Smoking is an ancient method of preserving meats using smoke, indirect heat and low cooking
temperatures. The original reason for using this method had more to do with preserving the meat
than with flavor. These days, it is used mostly for the flavor and for making meat tender by
breaking down the connective tissue in it. Properly smoked meats acquire a smoke ring. This term
refers to the layer of meat just beneath the exterior. It is especially visible in ... Show more content

Whereas the heat used to smoke meat is indirect and low, the heat used for grilling is direct and
high. Grilling is not so much about breaking down collagen and making meat tender as it is about
caramelizing the exterior and sealing in juices to keep the interior moist. What about taste?
The flavor of grilled meat versus the flavor slow smoked meat is the basis of yet another big
culinary debate. Many chefs believe that the flavor of slow smoked meat is superior to that of
grilled meat; however, it is possible to have best of both worlds with the use of wood chips or
wood chunks. The ideal wood for smoking is thought to come from certain species of fruit or nut
trees. Apple, peach and pecan woods are all thought to be excellent for slow smoking meats. Can
you get a smoky flavor from grilling?
Yes, you can. One of the easiest ways to do this with a charcoal grilling is to add wood chips.
Simply toss a handful of chips onto your smoldering coals to create smoke that will flavor your
meat. You can also mix chunks of wood in with the coals to smoke meat for longer

The Importance of Justice in the Roman Games Essay
The Importance of Justice in the Roman Games
On top of justice is being done, we need to look at the functions of the games from the Romans
point of view. As Thomas Wiedemann says simply to give way to our emotions is not enough
(RB1, C11, P.101). Wiedemann wanted us to understand the ancient Romans beliefs and customs
in watching the games. Based from my reading materials, it was not true as the Roman games were
more than a medium of public entertainment. In this essay, I will look at the various aspects in
which the Roman games were not only about justice, drawing on a variety of sources to support
each claim.
Firstly, the Romans viewed the games as a form of entertainment. These ... Show more content on

Justice seems to be done as the Roman felt that these criminals deserved to die. Hence, it involved
more than justice. The emperor has spent a huge sum of money to build the Colosseum so as to
attract his people to watch the games. Ancient writer like Apuleius glorified the game shows as
public pleasure (RB1, C3, P.94). In other words, it possesses entertainment value for the Romans.
Thirdly, the games emphasized Roman power. It was a practical sign that Romans were proud of
their strength and stamina that made Rome great. To the Romans, it was a symbol of the ordered
world, the cosmos , and it was the emperor who was the guarantor of that order (RB1, C11, P.104).
However, Ciero s attitude towards gladiator shows was inhuman (RB1, C8, P.98). Thus, it was more
to encourage Romans cruelty and their courage shown at the games.
Fourthly, the games offered the brave a possibility of social rebirth. The Romans commended
bravery and a criminal gladiator may be granted life if he comes back alive as a victor. The
symbolism of public execution seemed to be deeply ingained in the Christian consciousness (RB1,
C11, P101 107). The decision to pardon brave and successful fighters was also a collective and
popular one, according to Wiedemann.
Next, the games acted as means of political networking (RB1, C4,

Border Crossing Pat Barker Character Analysis
Border crossing how human adapted to environments
Texts are tools for authors to convey messages across in a coherent manner. In the novel Border
Crossing, Pat Barker embedded many controversial ideas and themes, one of which is how human
adapt to the environment. In the novel, the author uses contrasting characterisation and a unique
novel structure: the third person narrative style to effectively deliver the theme across.
Contrasting characterisation has a huge effect in the novel Border Crossing as many characters
have some distinct and unique personalities. One of the best examples stems from the characters
Danny and Tom. In the novel, Danny is depicted as a deceptive and delusive character, with a
criminal record. He is portrayed as a character that can easily manipulate others. Tom on the other
hand is depicted as a highly self conscious character who can perceive and detect others emotion

Nature Conservation And Its Impacts On Local Communities
HOW NEOLIBERALISATION FLOURISHES IN NATURE CONSERVATION AND ITS
IMPACTS ON LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
Neoliberalism has had its footprints marked in the sands of history. It has had it limits and it has
had its advantages but all those depends on who is the subject we look at. Neoliberalism can be
defined in a lot of different ways by scholars but the general definition of neoliberalism is the
political term used for the theory whereby the economy is open to investors, and the free market
is given priority. Neoliberalism has its key players as the state, the market and the civil society.
These three key actors in neoliberalism can define the term in different ways as the effects and
impacts of neoliberalism play differently for each party.
In Tanzania, the neoliberalization of the economy started in the mid 1980s with the privatization of
parastatal organizations, the deregulation and the opening up of trade and banking, foreign
exchange deregulation, and tax reform (Benjaminsen et al., 2013). The neoliberal processes have a
long term history of heavily impacting negatively on citizens and the environment. The economy of
Tanzania is mostly from wildlife tourism and game hunting. The neoliberal acts in these context
comes to play when the land sustaining the wildlife is situated among villages where citizens live.
Impacts of the conservation of the land arises for these villagers and the environment. In this essay

With the challenges that we, as the human race, have faced, we have also endured and conquered
some of the easiest and most of the hardest issues that had risen in the past. With more

to make a stand and fight for the opportunity of equality and freedom. Keywords: Martin Luther

Who were the Druids?
The stereotypical image of a Druid is one of a thoughtful philosopher and magician, schooled in
the lore of the traditions, and in charge of the education of the chieftains as well as those who

able to manipulate that truth as well as inform others of it. Druids not only influenced society

Pliny the Elder was a Roman scholar and as a result, may have been prejudiced against Celts,
however not to the extent of Julius Caesar. Because this extract was from Natural History, a
writing which was produced after extensive study, this source is probably quite reliable as the aim
was to provide accurate information to the readers. Pliny also lived from AD23 AD79, a time in
which the Celts also existed, increasing the reliability of this source.
Skilled Craftsmen
Druids had knowledge of bronze, iron, and other metals, which was passed on to the Celtic people.
Celtic coins often featured pictures of horses, boars and ears of wheat. Many other Celtic artefacts
found in graves or bogs also feature natural motifs of animals, people, nature and Gods. Techniques

Four Principles of Management
Four Principles of Management
Jacqueline Garcia
University of Phoenix
November 10, 2007
Many Fortune 500 companies have management training programs. A company must always have
the competitive edge over its competitors. These companies must invest in creating curriculums to
help the mangers create motivation in the employees as well as attain the goals set forth by the
corporation. According to the Random House Unabridged Dictionary, managementis the act or
manner of managing: handling, direction, or control; skill in managing, the person or persons
controlling and directing the affairs of a business institution, etc. A great manager must know and

The organization needs to have open communication at all times so the employees feel comfortable
in voicing opinions and complaints. Management must always be motivating the team because of
the highly stressful environment. Motivation comes in the form of verbal praise to monetary
incentives at the end of every month. This is a gear that must be in constant motion to make the
employees happy and efficient.
The final principle is controlling. This is the management function of monitoring performance and
making the necessary changes (Bateman, 2007). Keeping an eye on things is the way to be
absolutely certain that everything is going according to plan. Problems will arise but this is why
the plan executed in the beginning will help to create solutions.
Bank of America, being so large, is monitored all the time. We must adhere to state and federal laws
and regulations. Meetings are done frequently to address issues that are happening around the
United States which may directly or indirectly affect performance. The manager of each team
monitors the individuals with all the high tech screens on their computers. Controlling what can be
controlled and having a contingency plan for when problems occur keep the bank at its high peak
in the financial realm.
The four management principles are applied to all great companies. Planning helps set the stage for
the organizing the team to its appropriate places. Leading generates loyalty, and

Rikets
Rickets Human Biology
September 17, 2011
Most people know that good nutrition is important for good health. But not many people realize
the importance a healthy diet can have on their health and their children s health for years to
come. A good diet helps children grow, develop, and do well in school. It also helps young and
older adults to work productively and feel their best. Without a proper diet or a serious lack of
nutrition a person is making his or her self susceptible to all sorts of diseases. All people, young
and old, need to have a healthy and nutritional diet if they want to avoid the many diseases caused
by poor nutrition.
One disease young children are at risk for is rickets. Rickets is caused by a vitamin D, ... Show more

The AAP states that the increase in vitamin D will also help children prevent Osteoporosis as
adults (Wagner amp; Greer, 2008).
Rickets is the most common form of metabolic bone disease worldwide. Measures such as adequate
sunlight exposure and dietary supplementation are simple but effective in reducing rickets. It is
important to target culturally vulnerable groups and pregnant women. Preterm babies form a
specific population that is particularly vulnerable to the metabolic consequences of calcium and
phosphate deficiency, requiring early intervention.
Parents and caregivers need to be sure that their children are consuming enough calcium. Whether
it is from fortified formulas, cow s milk, green leafy vegetables, fortified orange juice or calcium
fortified cereals these fast growing children need to meet the calcium needs of their bodies. Since
all of these calcium rich foods are readily available nutritional rickets is rarely seen in the United
States and Europe. Unfortunately, in unindustrialized countries, vitamin D deficiency rickets
continues to be a problem . (Definition of Rickets, 2011).
In conclusion, rickets is a nutrition related disease that can severely impact a child s life. Rickets,
the softening and weakening of bones, occurs because of vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus
deficiencies. Young rapidly growing children are at the highest risk for rickets, but it can easily be
prevented through diet and

Why Hazing Should Be Allowed In College
College life brings many thoughts to mindВ…friendships, football , pizza, late nights, parties,
fraternities, sororities, as well as racial discrimination, binge drinking, hazing and dying. The latter
part of this list may not come naturally to most people, but they are frightening realities of the
Greek system. Parents send their children to college assuming they will be in a safe, educational
environment while enjoying all the benefits campus life has to offer, including fraternities and
sororities. They do not expect a phone call in the early hours of the morning notifying them of
their child s death. Since March of 2000, over 60 people have died in events associated with
fraternities, alcohol and/or hazing (Marklein p. A3).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A national survey of college students by Harvard researchers found that nearly half of males and
more than a third of females engage in binge drinking. Among Greek students the numbers
skyrocket: 86% of fraternity members and 80% of sorority members living in chapter houses are
likely to engage in binge drinking (Marklein). The frequent focus fraternities and sororities place on
alcohol encourages excessive consumption, unfortunately causing the development of alcoholism
and incidents of alcohol poisoning. The term hazing is defined as any conduct or method of
initiation into any student organization, whether on public or private property, which willfully or
recklessly endangers the physical or mental health of any student or other person (UMass).
Whipping, beating, branding, forced calisthenics, exposure to the weather, forced consumption of
food, liquor, beverages, , brutal treatment, extended isolation, sleep deprivation, and forced
physical activities that adversely affect physical health and safety are just some known acts of
hazing that Greek members may force their brothers and sisters to undergo. Imagine getting an
update from your college student. Your freshman son calls home, reporting he has just made the
lacrosse team and is excited to receive his fraternity pin the next day. The following morning the
phone rings, but it is not your beloved child. A policeman calls to inform you that your son had just
died of

Argument On Lying
I m not upset that you lied to me, I m upset that from now on I can t believe you. These were the
famous words Friedrich Nietzsche spoke and almost everyone in this world can probably relate to
it.Lying seems so universal, but no one can really agree if it s warranted or not. After reviewing a
few opinionated and factual articles on lying, the opinionated conclusion is lying is almost always
never justified unless it is to protect someone from getting hurt. In A Philosopher On Lying , by
Mary Alder, a philosopher named, Immanuel Kant, has his perspective on lying as, Don t tell
someone a lie, Kant said, because then you are not treating that person with respect, as an
individual. .This statement at first glance may seem valid, but let s take a closer look.If your
mom had breast cancer and she told you about it but, said not to mention it to your dad for fear
that he might get a heart attack, what would you do? Especially what shall you do if he asks you
if you know anything about your mom acting weird lately? The majority of you reading this most
likely have switched sides against Immanuel Kant, but, for those who think, Well, surely he must
have had made an exception about protecting someone s life, you are wrong. Immanuel Kant
believes, ...it s not about the size of the lie any lie, even one to save someone s life, is dangerous.
so if he was in that situation, he wouldn t care if it risked his father s life. Therefore, that is the flaw
in Immanuel Kant s argument,

The Pompeii Exhibition
When I attended the Pompeii exhibition, several antiquities from different sections captured my
attention. The first section allows one to experience how a Pompeii citizen would spend the day
in the city. From the lively and vibrant markets and shops to relaxing Roman baths, this city had
it all. The first object to catch my eye was a water sprout in the shape of a satyr. The water spout
was made of two main components. The first element was a circular disc made of bronze and
attached to it was the satyr. On the border of the disc laid meticulous designs that closely
resembled leaves. As for the satyr, on its head rested a wreath composed of leaves. With high
arched eyebrows, frown lines and tight lips, the satyr is a perfect representation... Show more

Made of terracotta, this statue was easily over six feet tall and it represented a male actor
impersonating a female character. The actor in question was wearing a floor length short
sleeved dress. Even if the dress lacked motifs and intricate designs, the soft creases that ran
along the entire dress brings a feminine touch to the overall image. Another factor adding a
feminine touch was the detailed hair updo. Both of these soft and delicate features contrast
greatly with the face of the character. Unlike the rest of the features, the character s face is
harsh. This had to do with the mask that the actor is wearing. With his eyes and mouth wide
open, he is projecting strong emotions. During that time period, since men were the only ones
allowed to participate in theatrical plays, they were required to wear masks to present a
character. This sculpture expresses the importance of activities and shows how far people were
willing to push boundaries just for the sake of entertainment. I was impressed by this figure as

Omega 3 Supplementation
Topic: The benefits of omega 3 supplementation on cognitive function in healthy children.
I. Introduction Macronutrients are a group of compounds that humans consume in the largest
quantities and thus provide the bulk of energy that they consume and use for everyday functioning.
The three types of macronutrients are protein, carbohydrate, and fat. Fatty acids are separated into
three categories: saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. The unsaturated fatty acids are
known to play a role in cognitive function, learning, and behavior.1, 2 Omega 3 fatty acid is one of
the polyunsaturated fatty acids and it can be created from alpha linolenic acid or obtained directly

In most cases, students who are not proficient in reading or spelling during the early school years
often have difficulty in other subject matters throughout their education. All factors of education
including nutrition, should be considered when evaluating ways to improve learning capabilities
in children. In terms of nutrition, omega 3 is vitally important during gestation and infancy for
early brain development. However, omega 3 fatty acids are present in a limited number of foods
and the predicted intake by American children worldwide is commonly low. Omega 3 fatty acids
have been highlighted in research to better understand the association between nutritional
deficiencies and learning difficulties. In the event that a child has an omega 3 deficiency related
to poor intake or absorption, it is likely that their learning and/or behavior would see benefits
from improving their omega 3 status. There is clearly an interest and a number of research studies
that are investigating the effects of omega 3 fatty acids on cognition, learning and behavior in
healthy children. Overall, the studies included in this review generally agree that making
improvements in a child s fatty acid intake may initiate brain activity changes that are observable
in regards to learning and behavior. The results of neurophysiologic tests showed a measureable
change in the brains activity as a result of omega 3

The Affect Of The Declaratory Act On The Ohio River Valley
The French and British were always enemies and the British wanted a land called the Ohio River
Valley. However, the french also wanted this land. The French and British ended up going to
war and the British won. The Native Americans that lived in the Ohio River Valley were not
thrilled and to prevent war with the Native Americans the king created the proclamation of 1763.
This set an imaginary line between the British and the Ohio River Valley. This was intended to
keep the British out of the Ohio River Valley so the American Indians and british wouldn t have
to go to war. After the war the British were in debt. In order to pay of this debt the king created the

Enable Others To Act (FFA)
Enable Others to Act
I remembered when I first joined the FFA, I felt a little out of place. I recall attending my first
National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. During that convention, I walked around that
convention center and realized that a huge percentage of the attendees looked the same; except me.
By saying that, almost everyone at the convention was white.
I am a full blooded Native American of the Lumbee Tribe. Like majority of the natives in my tribe,
my skin is dark. Looking around in that convention center and seeing all those white faces at the
time didn t bother me until I traveled further along in my FFA career.
During my first year as a chapter officer, I remember it was the beginning of the new academic
year and it time to recruit new members. I attended a very racially divers high school in Robeson
County, North Carolina. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I could not understand why someone could assume that and I held an officer position at a chapter

After that comment was made, I began to ask non white students in my high school that were not
members of the FFA why would you not join our FFA Chapter. Some of the answers were that
they were not interested in agriculture. Most of the answers given were stereotypes of this
organization. Some students said the the FFA was for rednecks, farmers, and country folk. Others
said that it was for white people.
The National FFA Organization has given me so many opportunities and I didn t want silly
stereotype hinder every student to take advantage of it. I shared my story with students about
how I am a member of color and how the FFA changed my life. I told them that it doesn t matter
if you are White, Black, Latino, or Pock o dotted. It doesn t matter if you were raise on a farm in
North Carolina or in an apartment in the middle of New York City. It doesn t matter what your

Leadership Is The Best Course Of Action For Leadership
Leadership is a complex subject, but for our purposes can be defined as the act of one person
influencing another person or group of people towards a common purpose that is beneficial for
both the leader and their followers. Many approaches have been taken by academics in attempting
to understand what leadershipis at its core. Useful information has been unearthed by studying
leadership qualities in individuals and by studying the dynamic between leader and follower.
However, the abstractness of these studies left researches at somewhat of a loss for practical and
relevant information, that is until research began on the observable behavior of leaders. The
Style Approach is a useful way to look at the leader follower relationship because it incorporates
elements of behaviorist psychology and applies them to the study leadership as a phenomenon.
The goal of this essay is to use observable behavior in the context of the Leadership Grid to
determine the best course of action for leadership in any scenario.
Findings on Leadership via the Style Approach The Style Approach differs from other ways of
understanding leadership in that it is focused on the here and now rather than traits or tendencies
which are more difficult to quantify. This approach allows room for the subject of a study to
change over time, rather than being rigidly casted as something because they displayed certain
characteristics at a certain time. It also eliminates the idea that a leader depends upon

Social Good Christian Community Analysis
Most of us have a deep and true desire to serve others. Whether it be the veteran without a home
on the side of the road or protecting the sacred land that the Lord bestowed to us, as Catholics we
are able to strengthen our connection with Christ though our service. As a Mater Dei student
having been given the opportunity to experience different cultures, religions, and walks of life
has molded me into a better person. Growing up in Orange County, I have always enjoyed a
comfortable life within my community and church. For the longest, I believed that in order to be
a good Christian one must attend weekly mass and recite their prayers every night, but I have

Social And Social Repercussions Of The Sugar Lifestyle
Social and personal repercussions of the sugar lifestyle:
The personal impact on a sugar baby is multi faceted. There are many aspects of her life that are
irreversibly changed by their decision to pursue a sugar relationship as a form of income. The
ramifications of their choices emerge in unforeseen ways. The social and personal repercussions
range from perceptions of the self and those around them, to their feeling towards others.
One of the strongest themes that comes through through the research is this idea of commodifying
emotion to provide financially. In literature and interviews it came through strongly that being able
to perform emotional labour (reference) was a fundamental portion of participating in a sugar
dating relationship. It was necessary to be emotionally accommodating to the sugar daddy or
mamma. Each individual person had a different expectation of themselves as to how much
emotional labour they could perform. Many of the sugar babies opinions coincided and agreed that
they were more comfortable having a sugar daddy that they had a natural connection with because
the amount of emotional labour they would have to perform would be diminished.
Personal repercussions of the sugar lifestyle ran deep in women discussion. Primarily they
centred around the feelings of guilt and shame they felt towards their life choice. There were a
multitude reasons for this a lot of them stemming from social censorship by their families and
friends. They also felt like it was a secret they had to keep. For some they were prepared to trusted
individuals (Sophie), for others they did not share their stories until they had finished with their
sugar baby lifestyle (Sarah). This demonstrate the power of the social stigma towards sugar dating
for young men and women as a means of income.
The emotional elements of engaging in a sugar relationship run beyond the social stigma. For some
of the women they found their dependency on their sugar daddies to be daunting, that was their
only means of income. In 2013 ABC Nightline interviewed a sugar baby and daddy duo called
Monty (21) and Tommy (63) about their specific arrangement. It become clear throughout the
interview that for Monty there is an element of

Hindu Religion Vs Western Religion
The Hindu religion is the third largest religion in the world, with an expanding impact on virtually
every facet of life. The wealthy, famous athletes, and political leaders seek advice from their
spiritual leaders and gurus. Karma is a popular term in everyday conversations. In addition, the yoga
craze has caught on and many Christians practice this exercise without understanding exactly what
its purpose has traditionally been. Doctors use yoga to help patients with migraines, immunities,
and blood flow. Healthauthorities are using the Indian model to see what Hindu methods might be
helpful to our modern way of living. Reincarnation is now a popular belief among the Western
cultures.

This religion is a imbedded in the culture and begins with family. Thus, an individual s value is
not determined by hard work or achievement. Rather, social standing is hinged on your family s
reputation. This reputation can span many generations and has a wide swathe that includes
uncles, cousins, and grandparents. Boundaries or continents between these families make no
difference, as they all stay close and interconnected. The importance of the family cannot be
overstated. Each member of the family is taken care of as a unit from birth to grave. Marriages,
education, and professions are usually determined by the extended family. This model gets
flipped as the grandparents and parents are provided for by their children. The family dwellings
are also the primary place of worship for each family. Rooms or shelves for shrines to their gods
are common. The images of their gods can range from a small postcard up to larger carved
statues. These images are very often adorned with flowers and decorations. No family conducts
worship quite the same. Some are strict in observance and others are more casual. Of note, the very
images that they worship can have very little significance to one family, while another might feel
like they are actual living beings. All of these concepts are difficult for most Christians to
understand and

  • 2. The Establishment Of A Free Market Economy The establishment of a free market economy with the creation of joint stock companies in the modern day Netherlands during the 1500 1600s spelt the beginning of capitalism, an economic system which has, since this period, brought untold prosperity to billions throughout the world. Its proliferation throughout Europe is one of the primary reasons why in the centuries thereafter it became the sole hegemon on the world stage, with its greatest embracer, Great Britain, holding sway over a fourth of the globe by the mid nineteenth century. Since these European centuries, liberal economic thought has spread throughout the world, with vibrant, flourishing economies sprouting in places from Singapore to Japan to even China, with its tentative economic liberalization being the direct result in hundreds of millions being lifted out of poverty. With such a good track record, one would be surprised that the bulk of the intelligentsia of this country is opposed to the continuation of a liberal, free market system. Indeed, in their papers on higher education in America, Mark Edmundson and William Deresiewicz indict the capitalist system as the bane of higher education, accusing the profiteering of private institutions as the primary reason why students are receiving a sub par education. Using terms such as consumerism and neoliberalism pejoratively, they posit that each system has had an adverse affect on higher education, and present differing solutions to put an end to the problems ... So quietly that not many people could hear it, including the executioner. A moment later after realizing the executioner didn t hear Coby yells angrily, Let her go! The executioner flinches but quickly after he lets me up. I crawl to my shaky feet. I look around at everyone but as soon as I meet the gaze they look down in shame. I look at Jacob. I let my betrayal and hurt shine through. He looks at me and then at the ground. Then, you get falsely accused of being a spy and sent to execution. Then lastly, right before you re about to be executed your boyfriend screams out that you re a princess. I say in a sickly sweet voice. Now let me ask you a question, how would you react if all that happened to you? Because I know how I am reacting to that. I am pretty damn freaked out and I m hoping that this is some sick joke or a nightmare. I say slowly feeling the panic take over. I start to hyperventilate. Tears are threatening to fall down my face. Someone kneels in front of me and touches my arm. I look up and see it is Prince Bobby. I can help you calm down all you need to do is allow me. He says softly. No, I say softly. No, No, No. Don t fucking touch me. I yell while slapping his arm away. The tears start to fall and I can t stop it. I hear Prince Bobby exhale with frustration. Our study shows that EU deregulation altered the five competitive forces in European airline industry and in turn this fostered entrepreneurship and innovation, as a reaction of firms to adapt to the change in their context. The reaction of Ryanair and SAS through entrepreneurial and innovative behaviour was different due to the differences in their business model. We argue that the removal of barriers to new entrants and the increased rivalry between firms were the main forces that fostered entrepreneurship and innovation. We predict that if further EU deregulation comes (as it is the trend) this will generate more opportunities to entrepreneurship and innovation like it generated in the past. It is clear that the German economy holds a key position in the world marketplace. Gross domestic product (GDP) growth is an important consideration for foreign investment as it speaks to the overall health of an economy. GDP growth can be attributed to spending and investments both on and from imports and exports ( What is GDP , 2005). In 2014 the reported GDP growth rate in Germany was 1.4%, up .9 % from the prior year ( World fact book n.d.). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2014 trade as share of GDP was 70.8 percent, down less than three percent from the two years prior ( Merchandise trade , n.d.). This is one of those areas in which only time will tell whether Germany will continue to prosper and be the financial backbone of the Eurozone. GDP per capita is also an important indicator of economic health. GDP per capita takes the total output of a country and divides it by the number of people in a countries population; this indicated the buying power of individuals. GDP per capita in Germany as reported for 2014 was slightly over 47,000 USD ( Countries with the largest , n.d.). Looking at GDP per capita when compared to other countries in the Eurozone Germany is not fairing so well. Luxembourg leads the world wide GDP per capita and that of the Eurozone with a high rate of 116,750 USD ( Countries with the largest , n.d.). Worldwide Germany ranks 16th in the Eurozone, Germany was beat out by Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands in GDP per capita ( Countries with the largest , n.d.). While the GDP per capita rate in Germany is stronger than many other countries it is not competitive with other countries which have economies comparable in size to Germany nor economies centrally located in the Eurozone. A low inflation rate averaging .91 percent for 2014 should help to increase purchases in Germany. This is because consumers can get more for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. An Explanation Of The Scientific Importance Of Human... An Explanation of the Scientific Importance of the Human Genome Project The human genome project is an international effort that serves as a possible solution to the many diseases that affect billions of people worldwide. This project is a great milestone in the field of genetics as it allows scientists to determine the sequence of genes in chromosomes which will show where disease causing mutations are occurring and what can be done to reverse it. Looking back in time, many of the diseases which could be cured were done by administering drugs and certain types of therapies. As the complexity of technology as well as advancements in the understanding of our bodies increased, more diseases became curable through these very drugs and therapies. However, many times individuals find it hard to deal with the side effects that these solutions create. The human genome project aims to make disease and illnesses curable more efficiently and to become readily available to individuals throughout the world. It is therefore necessary the that society begins to accept this project as the new frontier in medical treatment and prevention of diseases. By having a greater investment and understanding in the Human genome Project, the scientific community will determine more information about DNA to develop treatment plans, prevention methods, and develop cures to diseases that affect humans; thus yielding medically important information for society. Attention will also be centred on the legacy left, concentrating on the music that was influenced as well as the resulting change in fashion and political views. Marley Marle produced the entire track using a four track recorder and an Akai Mpc Renaissance, he described these confines as, Limitations made us what we were, he said. We were making classic hip hop in the projects in the living room, no studio and a four track. So it s not where you re from, it s where you re at. Sometimes limitations are good [1]. Rakim s jazz influences were portrayed throughout the album with his tranquil implementation. Essay on Life Course of a Mas Murderer The Life Course of a Mass Murderer Cornelius Davis DeVry University The Life Course of a Mass Murderer On April 16, 2007 one of the most devastating mass murders in U.S history occurred at a Virginia college. Seung Hui Cho a 23 year old South Korean alone executed the killing of 33 people by securing colleges doors to prevent escape of any students. Events such as these are truly tragic and devastating to all involved. By gathering background information about Seung Hui Cho, we can effectively examine social development theories as they relate to Cho and review my analysis that this particular occurrence was preventable. Cho had a hard childhood and was in the shadows of his very successful sister. Even in college Cho had no friends and began to look up to other school shooters as martyrs. Although these individuals were not his friends at all in his situation they were the closest thing to having friends. In college Cho was accused of stalking women on two different occasions, was caught taking photos of the legs of female students in class and was separated out of classes. I believe that Cho s antisocial lifestyle along with the transition any from home eventually lead him to commit the mass murder. Cho s anti social lifestyle seemed to escalate to criminal behaviors from the time he went off to college until the time of the Virginia Tech shooting. I believe that this tragedy could have been prevented if the proper preventative measures and treatment techniques were taken. As a boy Cho should have been taken in for a mental evaluation but I believe the integration of his family into the American society prevented that. In high school Cho being bullied and teased could have been put to a stop by teachers and surrounding students. The first question to consider is will shelter in place provides adequate protection? And second thing to consider is if there is enough time to evacuate. There are various advantages and disadvantages of both the responses (Sorensen et al., 2004). The advantages of instituting shelter in place are that it is: It is immediate; people are more relaxed in their familiar surroundings and feel secure; and basic amenities like food, clothing, water, telephone, radio and television are readily available. The disadvantage is that precise, correct, dependable information is more complicated to receive. On the other hand the advantages of evacuating are that people are away from the exposed chemicals, and moved to mass care shelters, plus information is more reliable and medical relief is prompt. Some of the disadvantages of evacuation are that it is time consuming; evacuees may not listen to the directions and decide to stay home and some might decide to move to other locations making it very difficult to track those (Sorenen et al., 2004). • 33. La Tomatina Research Paper The holiday, La Tomatina, is a tradition that has gone on for generations. Spain is the main country that celebrates it every year, but tens of thousands travel from all parts of the world to participate in it. La Tomatina means tomato festival , and is very self explanatory from its definition. On the last Wednesday of August, people throw over ripe tomatoesat one another the entire day, leaving people drenched in tomato carnage, but in utter happiness as well. In all, more than 100 metric tons of tomatoes are used in the festival! It is quite questionable of how such a holiday came to be. There are even paella cooking contests, and a palo jabГіn , an event in which brave participants climb a greased wooden pole all the way to the top, where there will be a leg of ham. The street fight with tomatoes will only begin after these two events. There are some specific rules to follow when having a gigantic food fight with tomatoes. For one, objects cannot be thrown that could cause harm to others. This includes the tomatoes, which may only be thrown if they are soft or crushed. People during the festival wear rugged and/or dirty clothing, and another rule states people cannot tear or rip clothing to throw tomatoes at someone. Despite the number of rules that need to be followed, the festival is still very fun. The food fight occurs between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. At the beginning of the food fight, trucks haul all the tomatoes into the town, which are paid for at an inexpensive price. The firing of water cannons signals the beginning of the festival, which is typically every man for himself . After a few hours, the festival will end and no tomatoes can be thrown. What are their main differences? Is the flavor from one different from the flavor from the other? We will consider these questions and more as we look at smoking vs. grilling. What is the difference between smoking and grilling? Smoking is an ancient method of preserving meats using smoke, indirect heat and low cooking temperatures. The original reason for using this method had more to do with preserving the meat than with flavor. Many chefs believe that the flavor of slow smoked meat is superior to that of grilled meat; however, it is possible to have best of both worlds with the use of wood chips or wood chunks. The ideal wood for smoking is thought to come from certain species of fruit or nut trees. Apple, peach and pecan woods are all thought to be excellent for slow smoking meats. The Importance of Justice in the Roman Games Essay The Importance of Justice in the Roman Games On top of justice is being done, we need to look at the functions of the games from the Romans point of view. As Thomas Wiedemann says simply to give way to our emotions is not enough (RB1, C11, P.101). Wiedemann wanted us to understand the ancient Romans beliefs and customs in watching the games. Based from my reading materials, it was not true as the Roman games were more than a medium of public entertainment. Hence, it involved more than justice. The emperor has spent a huge sum of money to build the Colosseum so as to attract his people to watch the games. Ancient writer like Apuleius glorified the game shows as public pleasure (RB1, C3, P.94). In other words, it possesses entertainment value for the Romans. Thirdly, the games emphasized Roman power. It was a practical sign that Romans were proud of their strength and stamina that made Rome great. To the Romans, it was a symbol of the ordered world, the cosmos , and it was the emperor who was the guarantor of that order (RB1, C11, P.104). However, Ciero s attitude towards gladiator shows was inhuman (RB1, C8, P.98). Thus, it was more to encourage Romans cruelty and their courage shown at the games. Fourthly, the games offered the brave a possibility of social rebirth. The Romans commended bravery and a criminal gladiator may be granted life if he comes back alive as a victor. The symbolism of public execution seemed to be deeply ingained in the Christian consciousness (RB1, C11, P101 107). The decision to pardon brave and successful fighters was also a collective and popular one, according to Wiedemann. Next, the games acted as means of political networking (RB1, C4, ... Neoliberalism has had its footprints marked in the sands of history. It has had it limits and it has had its advantages but all those depends on who is the subject we look at. Neoliberalism can be defined in a lot of different ways by scholars but the general definition of neoliberalism is the political term used for the theory whereby the economy is open to investors, and the free market is given priority. Neoliberalism has its key players as the state, the market and the civil society.
