Proposed Policy/Procedure for the Accommodation of Service Dogs in K 12 Schools
University of North Florida
Policy/Procedure Proposal: Service Dogs
This policy is a proposed policy to govern service dogs within the district. In Fry v. Napoleon
Community Schools, there was no policy or guidelines for implementing service dogs as an
accommodation for students. IDEA requires public schools to provide all children with disabilities
a free appropriate public education (FAPE). Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act requires schools

IEP/504 Plan Specifications for service dog accommodations for students will be written into an
IEP or 504 Plan. For students in need of a service dog accommodation who do not have a current
IEP or 504 Plan, the parent(s) may call the school to request a meeting to convene the IEP/504
team in order to determine which document would be most appropriate for the student. If a student
has a current IEP or 504 Plan and requires a service dog accommodation, the parent(s) of the
student may request that an addendum be written to add the accommodation to the IEP or 504 Plan.
Training
According to Florida Statute 413.08 2d, a service dog is, an animal that is trained to do work or
perform tasks for an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric,
intellectual, or other mental disability.
Service dogs must be trained (for service dogs, see В§ 413.08 2D of the Florida Statutes, and 28
CFR §§ 35.104; 36.104). Though under the ADA and Florida statutes takes the position that a
public entity, which includes a school division, may not require proof of service animal
certification or licensing because this would increase the expense of acquiring a service animal and
might limit access to service animals for individuals with limited financial resources (Federal

Essay On Sarty In William Faulkner s Barn Burning
Barn Burning (1939) by William Faulkner is a short story set during the Dust Bowl, a time of
overexploited soil and bad weather conditions caused by the rapid industrialisation that had taken
place in the preceding years. It follows a family of farmers in the Southern region of the United
States who are going to their new house after the father, Abner, has been accused of burning the
barn where they were working, and has been then expelled from the country for doing so. The
main issue in the story is faced by the son, Sarty, who is struggling between turning his father in
and follow the rules of justice, or stand by his familydespite knowing that it means breaking the law.
Thus, the action is executed by Abner whilst the mental reflection is realized by Sarty, making it
difficult to determine who is the protagonist. The aim of this essay is to study the transformation
Sarty experiences, hence establishing him as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader is experiencing the story through his perspective, whether he is the one narrating or a
limited third person narrator is, therefore not having a full account of the events that take place,
for what can be seen is merely what Sarty sees and experiences himself. In such a narration, it is
not possible to fully understand other characters, because they are not as accessible as the
protagonist. Abner s intentions and what motivates him are unknown, to both the reader and Sarty
himself, as it can be observed when a third person narrator informs that His father had struck him
before last night but never before had he paused afterward to explain why (4). His reasons can be
interpreted in different ways but there is no explicit confirmation in the story. Point of view is
highly important in Barn Burning since it is an effective way to highlight what the author wants the
reader to pay attention to, which is Sarty s inner conflict over Abner s own reasons to burn

The Father Of Feminism In Madame Bovary
Flaubert is presented in the history of literature as the father of realism. I myself am Madame
Bovary . In his fabulous novel Madame Bovary he was able to metamorphose himself into a
woman. The work has revealed Flaubert s narcissism, his onanism, his idealism, his solitude, his
dependence, his feminity, his passivity (Sartre 15). The protagonist of Flaubert s Madame Bovary, is
a nineteenth century romantic woman, who dreamt futilely of escaping from a life that has
become a prison to her. She has got a highly romanticised view of the world and craves beauty,
passion and wealth. The first glimpse that we have of Emma is through Charles eyes. Flaubert
creates a fragmentary and progressive portrait of Emma, the whiteness of her nail, her deep black
eyes, and her full lips. She was soaked and whipped by the men who took everything from her and
dipped her into the marshy grounds of adultery.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She found nothing in the gray flat country to devour her romantic spirit. It was in such a dry
situation that she meets Charles Bovary, who was a country doctor. She took him as her
celestial lover; man who excelled in manifold activities and who could initiate her into the
energies of passion and refinements of life. But she has been too late when she realized his
cowardice and docility. Her man idol soon scatters and she stands baffled in front of her eternal
dreams. Disillusioned and disgusted as she was, desperate and hopeless as she was, rush was to
an other world , may be adultery in a pejorative sense, but to her it was a key to her house of

mounting hatred for Charles can be seen when she later observes ... his thick lips trembling, which

Analysis Of Shel Silverstein s Works
In this fun strategy, students use a phone, (usually a rounded piece of plastic, like a PVC pipe) to
hear themselves. It is effective for building fluency, since students can focus on their speaking.
Additionally, they help to keep students focused on instruction. Students monitor their own reading
and the classroom is usually quiet because students are encouraged to whisper (hence the name)
so that all students can hear themselves (Cadieux, 2012). This strategy is a simple one: practice.
The more students practice, the better they will read. At some point, students will no longer need
to fully focus on decoding. Instead, they can read with fluency. It is important to select fun books
when going about this. Students should want to read their books. Shel Silverstein s works, for
example. The poet s stories are short and entertaining. Partner Reading is a cooperative learning
strategy in which two students work together to read a text. The Partner Reading strategy allows
students to take turns reading and provide each other with feedback as a way to monitor
(Classroom Strategies Partner Reading, n.d.). Students who are struggling readers work well as
partners. They may be partnered with a student who is a better reader, for additional support.
Alternatively, when provided support, they may be partnered with another student at the same
level, letting them know they are not alone. In this case, a group of three, with the strongest reader
in class might be helpful.

Self Destruction Of Abortion Research Paper
Self destruction or Abortion?
There are many things in this world that people have different views on, but this topic, I feel, is a
very controversial one that causes a lot of dispute. I feel that if you are a victim of rape then you
should have the right to have abortion be one of your options.
This should be acceptable because most likely, the molested will have PTSD and having a
product of that situation around will only make it worse. I think I speak for everyone when I say
that you wouldn t want to have a child that would remind you of that horrible time in your life
every time that you look at them. That would make your child s life even harder, to have a mother
who is disgusted by their own offspring. Also, your psychological problems, ... Show more content

It should be your decision as to whether or not you want to bring your nightmares back to life and
continue out the pregnancy. No one should be able to decide your future for you, you determine
how you want to live your life. Furthermore, these rape victims may not be at a point in their
lives where they are able to financially support themselves and a baby, which could be the
reason why they don t already have kids, and now one is being forced upon them. Honestly, I feel
like the worst thing that could ever happen is to being put in a situation that you know you can t
handle. Nobody choses to get raped, and rape is always a traumatic experience. A poll taken by the
Gallup Organization in 1989 indicated that 81 percent of Americans approved of abortionin cases
of rape or incest and 75 percent approved if carrying the pregnancy to term would damage the
mother s health. If more than half of the population that voted agreed that it was acceptable 26
years ago, then why are people today so against it? Because of those opposed to abortion [they]
were able to chip away at the availability of that procedure.

Business Organization Structure Of A Business
Business Organization Structure
Starting a business is a major step and can in some cases be very risky. Furthermore, there are a
number of important factors that should be considered when starting a business. One of the most
fundamental factors involved in starting a business is determining what business entity to operate
the business under. Choosing a business entity that is not aligned with your particular business
model can in many cases lead to several problems that can be potentially very costly. The four most
common business entities are a sole proprietorship, partnership, LLC, and a corporation. Knowing
which business entity is best for your new business venture can determine the future success of your
company.

As long as you are the only owner, this status automatically comes from your business activities
(Starting managing (n.d.). However, just like any other business you would still need to obtain
licenses and permits necessary for operating your particular business. Starting a sole
proprietorship can be extremely time consuming as you the owner are responsible for all
operations and functions of the business including creating a business plan, obtaining licenses
and permits, hiring, establishing plans for development and growth and much more. Depending
on the type of business your looking to start you may need to obtain patents and trademarks to
protect your business. Sole proprietors need to comply with licensing requirements in the states
in which they re doing business, as well as local regulations and zoning ordinances. The
paperwork and formalities, however, are substantially less than those of corporations, allowing
sole proprietors to open a business quickly and with relative ease from a bureaucratic standpoint
(AllBusiness.com, 2007). Personal liability for owners The owner of a sole proprietorship
business has unlimited personal liability to the company and is responsible for all debts and
obligations incurred on the business s behalf. Because there is no legal separation between you and
your business, you can be held personally liable for the

Defense Of Marriage Act Ruled Unconstitutional
Defense of Marriage Act Ruled Unconstitutional:
How the Supreme Court s Ruling on DOMA Will Affect Same Sex Taxpayers
Melissa Williams
Troy University
November 20, 2014
Author s Note
This paper was prepared for Federal Tax Research 6684T, taught by Dr. Kaye Sheridan.
Abstract
On June 26, 2013, The United States Supreme Court struck down Section 3 of the Defense of
Marriage Act (DOMA), enabling same sex couples legally married under state law to be
recognized for the purpose and benefit of federal law. Section 3 of DOMA previously defined
marriage as the legal union of two persons of the opposite sex. This definition was challenged in
several court cases for violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fifth Amendment. The
Supreme Court ruled in favor of Edith Windsor in U.S. v. Windsor, declaring DOMA Section 3
unconstitutional and allowing same sex couples to be recognized as married for federal purposes.
This opens up several opportunities within federal income tax and estate and gift tax. Some of these
benefits include higher standard deductions and gain exclusion; opportunity to lower tax bracket
through combining incomes; and entitlement to the marital deduction, gift splitting, and portability
of DSUE. Marriage also results in tax disadvantages such as the marriage penalty, joint and several
liability, and refund offsetting. Taxpayers and tax preparers should be aware of the new planning
opportunities available to married same sex couples,

Minerals are found in many areas of the world and some are more easily available than others. The
Earth provides natural resources as necessary minerals that can be used for construction, decoration,
gemstones, and many other important physical uses that improve the quality of life. There are
minerals that can be found and mined in natural solid form in small or large quantities and some
that are found in a mixed environment and must be refined. Much time and research has shown that
some minerals may be hazardous and many minerals are crucial to a greater life on earth.

Copper, Cu, is the natural solid form of copper with an Isometric crystal system. It is found as
copper red on a fresh surface, dull brown or green on a tarnished surface with metallic luster and
metallic copper red streak. The natural copper is soft and malleable at 2.3 3 on moh s mineral scale.
Copper nuggets in pure state have been found in Arizona, abundant in Keweenaw Peninsula in
northern Michigan, and also found in Canada, Australia, China, Namibia, Bolivia, and Russia.
Copper is mined or extracted as copper sulfide in an open pit mine. Taken in large equipment to
be cleaned in steam and melted dried and cooled in molds to solidify and then sent off to be used
as copper products. (Understanding Minerals and Mining through Education). Malachite,
(Cu2(CO3)(OH)2, is a carbonate (minor ore of copper) with a monoclinic crystal system that
can be found in Democratic Republic of Congo, Australia, France, Russia, and Arizona. It is
found in different shades of green color with green streak and vitreous to adamantine in luster.
Larger specimens are found to be dull and earthy and smaller specimens are silky. The hardness

Who Is King Leopold II Colonize Congo Imperialism
Imperialism is when a policy of extending a country s power and influence through diplomacy or
military force. King Leopold II colonized the free state of Congo through imperialism. He brought
formal education systems into play. Within this new found education system they taught many
indigenous languages in the school that the government sponsored or paid for. Once the free state
of Congo became the Belgian Congo, King Leopold II also greatly improved the healthcare
system that was once non existing to a program that was steadily improving not just the care given,
but the overall well being of Belgian Congo. In saying that there were still things that were horrid

Yes, King Leopold II instated an education system and healthcare system, but in doing so he took
away the personal rights of so many people because he simply wanted to or it worked best for
him. The Roman Catholic Church and some Protestant Churches forced their religion and the set
values that came along with that religion on the indigenous people. The Democratic Republic of
Congo was a personal matter on most fronts for the King and because of all the natural resources
that came with gaining the land that was Congo. Just to name a few of the natural resources, there
are diamonds, gold, copper, cobalt, cassiterite (or tin), along with oil and coltan. So in taking over
the once free state of Congo the King not only gained the natural resources, but in his demented
mind he also gained the people or work force to harvest these resources. Some of the long lasting
effects of the imperialism on the now Democratic Republic of Congo still linger even today.
During the imperialism of Congo the people and Congo itself never really gained financially or

An Abusive Relationship Of The Scarlet Letter
Divorce. If you have left an abusive marriage you are either headed in this direction or are there
now. The scarlet letter D is one many do not foresee being attached to their name. It was not a
word I ever expected to find attached to mine. Ever. In fact, had you asked me in my younger
years if I believed I would ever wear the title of divorcee you would have received a loud
resounding no. I would never be one of those people. That would have honestly been my answer.
Truly. Taking the step to leave an abusive relationship takes great amounts of courage. Walking
away from the aspects of financial security, family for your children, stability (what little may
exist), your home and so forth is not an easy decision to make. You make a choice, take that first
scary step and trust that if you fall, the pain will be less than the pain you have been
experiencing. Oftentimes the pain is not less and in fact, ends up worse than what you left
behind. For a woman with children, when the choice is made to leave, there is the new
responsibility of solely being the provider for her children in every way possible. Food, shelter,
clothing, school needs, all fall on that mama who has chosen to protect her children from the wolf
who longs to devour. You see, when you leave an abuser, there is no financial support. There is no
co parenting. There is no concern on the part of the abuser for those children. There is only the
need to win. The need to take down the woman who

to maintain a customer base. The best way I know of doing that is through customer service,
which unfortunately is given much lip service, but not much actual practice in my experience. My
last car purchase was from a company that invited new car buyers to a catered supper within three

The Rank Of Eagle Scout Essay
Achievement is a very important thing for many reasons. Our achievements are what define us
and give us purpose. Achievement helps determine just how far we are willing to go to achieve
goals and to make ourselves successful. I have worked for many achievements, in my lifetime, and
I have many things that I am proud of. However, out of all of my achievements, I would say that
my greatest achievement, was earning the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America.
The rank of Eagle Scout is not something that is easily achieved. Many people have struggled to
obtain the rank and have failed. However, many of America s most influential figures have won
the rank of Eagle Scout. Neil Armstrong, Hank Aaron, and Rick Perry are just a few well known
figures who have obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. To add the rank s prestige and importance,
those who do receive the rank make up a very small portion of the Boy Scouts who join the
program.
When I was seven years old, I remember seeing boys from the school s Cub Scouts program
walking through the hallway. Dawned in dark blue uniforms, with orange neckties, and many
colorful badges, these scouts stunned me by the unity and patriotic spirit that they showed. That
evening, I went home from school and ran to the kitchen table where my father was sitting. I
explained to him that I wanted to join scouting. He smiled at me and quickly took me to the local
Boy Scouts headquarters, where I was signed up for a pack as it was called.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Film Grain Noise

The Colonists Actions And British Government s Responses
3. The Colonists Actions and British Government s Responses 1760s 1770s The imposition of
taxes on the American Colonies by the British Government in the 1760s set in motion a series of
action and reaction that led to a break between the components of the British Empire. Americans
responded with much anger and public resistance to the Stamp Act in 1763. Much of this
resistance was expressed in the colonies of Massachusetts and Virginia. In Massachusetts, the

British merchants to appeal to Parliament because of their lost revenue from colonial boycotts. The

It is quite clear that I am not a participative and also not an authoritarian leader because I stand
between two of them as I score 12. The participative leader should have to get more than 15 and
an authoritarian leader have to get less than 5 but as I have score 12, I can say that I am more of
a participative leader not an Authotarian leader because I am more towards participative
leadership style. The participative style refers to the teamwork approach and I feel that I have
this characteristic more than any leadership style because I also like to do teamwork. I usually
confer with group members before making decision so it means I have the quality of a
consultative leader which means I also fall in the subtypes of a participative leader. But I can
also be an Authoritarian leader when it will be needed. The Assertiveness is also a thing which

The Importance Of My High School Band
I play the French horn in my high school band. Our band is small only 25 30 members but we
are a family. Each class I see the determination on each person s face to do well because there s
the constant pressure of letting the rest of the band down. Because we are so small, each person
has to play to the absolute best of their abilities; each individual person needs to be a strong
player in order for our band to sound good. I ve played in larger bands on several occasions and I
was shocked to see that some kids would just... not play. Our band cannot afford that leniency.
Our size in itself is a challenge. However, I have personal struggles within the band as well. There
have only been two French horn players in my band for the entirety of my high school career:
myself and the number one horn player in the state, Cross. My whole life I have played second to
an amazing musician but while I improved by playing with him, I also never received any
recognition for my personal achievements or was ever granted the primary leadership position.
I often struggle to comprehend how good of a player I am, especially because I have performance
anxiety which hinders me during auditions and most performances. I constantly compare myself to
this amazing player who auditions well, who is regularly being recognized for musical
achievements, and who can never quite understand the concept of humility. He never understood
my struggle, so I was left adrift in an overwhelming sea of ineptitude.

William Potter s Macbeth
Macbeth, a tragedy play written by Shakespeare, illustrates the damaging physical and
psychological effects of political ambition on those who seek power for its own sake. Harry
Potter, a series of fantasy, fiction novels written by J.K Rowling, chronicles the life of a young
wizard, Harry Potter, a chain adventure of his friends, all of whom are students at Hogwarts
School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Despite the fact that these two books may seem completely
unreliable, there are indeed, certain connections in presence between one another. History and
time has proven that from time to time, the presence of witches, prophecies and violence in a
fiction novel has always acted as the essential success criteria. The general of aspect of a fiction,
fantasy novel can be identified as to entertain the readers, to reveal central message, and to propose
a virtual, imagery, but vivid world of wonder and magic towards the readers. Even though Macbeth
and Harry Potterare categorized in two different styles of literacy, they share similarities in terms of
characters, themes, and symbols in a variety of aspects; ultimately, the omnipresence of fantasy,
magic and dichotomy is the reason why both literatures are so wildly successful.
First and foremost, characters from both books have shared many similarities with one another. To
begin with, Macbeth and Ginny weasley are both plagued by self doubt, and because of this, they
are easily manipulated and influenced by the forces of others.

Heartbleed is a name that security researchers have given to a serious bug found in a very
common piece of software used by many websites. The software name was OpenSSL which is
used to encrypt the information that we send to and from websites. Heartbleed vulnerability in
OpenSSL allowed attackers to get sensitive data i.e. user s authentication credentials (login

from Heartbeat extension. Heartbeat extension is an extension for TLS and Datagram TLS. This
standard was proposed on February 2012 by RFC 6520. Heartbeat provides a way to test and

CVE 2014 3566 in SSLv3 protocol. In this POODLE attack the bug has been found that
exploited the intercept data that is supposed to be encrypted between system and the server.
According to the researchers who found the bud, an attacker/Hacker interferes between the

which cryptography protocol the server can accept using a protocol downgrade dance . By doing
this the computers are forced to use the older SSL 3.0 protocol to protect data that is being sent.
Hackers can then easily exploit the bug by carrying out a man in the middle (MITM) attack to

Positive Influences Of The Internet Essay
In 1983, an invention was introduced that would shape the future of American society and
interactions around the world. The society would begin to be centered around technology and shift
online. A plethora of advantages and societal changes has sparked negative thoughts about how the
internet has changed our lives. The ability for our computers to communicate has left us as easy
targets for hackers and has sucked the American youth into a zombie like state into their phones.
Many worry the internetis degrading our culture. When referring to the invention of writing and
reading, Plato denounced writing as inhuman and warned that writing weakened the mind and that
it threatened to destroy people s memory (Furedi). People are often scared of new innovations
because they are aware of its potential to revolutionize their culture. Adjusting to unfamiliar
concepts and innovations can be uncomfortable and difficult for most people. Similarly, modern
day sceptics look at the internet in a negative light because of its rapidly increasing impact on our
society. What most tend to forget is the positive influences of the internet. The increased
interconnection brought by the internet has led to a society that values productivity, rapid
production of ideas, and social awareness.
The idea of the internet first appeared in August of 1962 from J.C.R. Licklider, a professor at
MIT. He came up with a concept called Galactic Network , an idea that envisioned a network of

The Common Pattern Of Alternating Extinctions And Radiations
Extinctions and Radiations

The common pattern of alternating extinctions and radiations has been done through biodiversity
studies which studies the different organisms of species living on earth and where they live. In
Stilwell (2003) journal, Palaeocene faunas are characterized by a perceived rapid evolutionary
radiation involving many new taxa at both genus and species level. Stilwell stated Molluscs living
at the beginning of tertiary period after the K T extinction event was the beginning of modern fauna.
There was research that saw the decimation of scores of marine organisms. Mollusc groups were
mentioned (e.g. Ammonites, Belemnites Rudistid and Trigoniid Bivalves), (Stilwell, 2003).
In Stilwell s research journal, Austral Palaeocene Molluscs focuses on the composition of faunas
and patterns of evolution, it shows diversity and riches. The Southern Hemisphere show the break
up of Supercontinent Gondwana and also changes in oceanic circulation and climate. In the
northern Hemisphere shows major diversity changes in the Marine Realm.
In a journal written by Racki, it was mentioned, with the enlargement and nitrification most likely
will lead to the loss of deep water niches and step by step siliceous faunas go through severe non
selective losses during the end Permian mass extinction, (Racki, 1999). All because of sudden
volcanic winter the super anoxia

The hero of Beowulf, one of the oldest written Germanic epics, is a leader of the Geats and a

into every battle with the full force that he can muster, without any of the encumbrances that others

Hrothgar is a wise old king who has seen the dangers that the world has to offer. He warns
Beowulf that power and pride are not the only things worth seeking because they are temporary,
and when one s guard is down, other forces will attack viciously. Hrothgar recognizes Beowulf s
obsession with power and warns him against single mindedly pursuing it. However, Beowulf is
unable to restrain his desire for more power, even after he has achieved the glory that killing
Grendel had to offer and has been made the leader of a vast kingdom. He goes after the fire
breathing dragon at the end of the story, knowing that in his old age he is likely to die and leave
his land and kingdom unguarded. Though the dragon is threatening the Geats, he states his
reasons for fighting it: I risked my life / often when I was young. Now I am old, / but as king of
the people I shall pursue this fight / for the glory of winning (2511 2514). It is clear that Beowulf
knows he is risking his life even more so because of his old age and waned strength for the glory

consequences for them. Wiglaf, the only soldier brave enough to fight by his side, remarks upon

Though the NFL protest of kneeling during the Star Spangled Banner appears to be disrespectful

According to Julius Peppers, this wasn t about disrespecting the military, disrespecting the flag,
police, first responders, none of that, and those are the reasons people are thinking for why the
players are protesting. When really according to SB Nation NFL, The players are simply
protesting systemic oppression against people of color, police brutality, and the criminal justice

The Cause And Effects Of Desertification
Introduction
Desertification is the development of desert like conditions in regions that have experienced human
disturbance (Laura, n.d.). Drought, growing population and war are factors affecting
desertification. They have their tremendous impacts; however, they can be solved.
Causes
Drought is one of the most related factors to desertification. It is defined as a long period of time
when there is little or no rain. Drought can be caused by not receiving rain over a period of time.
This is because of climate change which has been affecting us badly since many decades. Moreover,
humans can be the cause too because they use too much water during times of normal rainfall
which leads to the immediate consequence that we might not have enough ... Show more content on

It has been said that growing in population will lead to farming too little land because of crawling
buildings in grasslands. The growing population can cause destruction of grass lands and this can
cause desertification.
Drought and growing populations are not only the two causes of desertification but also there is a
third reason which is war. War happens due to many reasons such as economics, land, resources,
religious beliefs, and importantly power (Halo3Pro, 2011).
War contributes badly to cause desertification. People start eliminating themselves and leaving their
lands empty and dusty. A great example that supports this point is the radiation in Japan. When the
hydrogen bombs dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, thousands of people
were killed. Additionally, the bomb left disastrous environment in the surrounding areas. Chemicals
and poisons had destroyed everything including plants and the most fundamental gas for breathing
which is oxygen. Although war has massive destruction in many areas in the world which ends up
with causing desertification, Oman has been living in peace and it has not been through such

Puzo s early novels, The Dark Arena and The Fortunate Pilgrim, exhibit the realistic narrative
style typical of his later fiction and are considered minor classics of Italian American literature.
The Dark Arena talks about an American soldier who came back to a occupied Germany after the
Second World War. Introducing the theme of violent retribution, Puzo s protagonist kills a black
market drug supplier to show his rage at government , corruption in postwar Europe, and his own
failure to secure lifesaving medication for his German girlfriend. In The Fortunate Pilgrim, Puzo
takes us to Hell s kitchen and talks about the experiences of an Italian woman who struggles to
surmount poverty and crime. Though extolling her courage, cunning, and traditional values Puzo s
description of petty criminal activity in the poor Italian American neighbourhood offers ironic
justification for the life of crime as an alternate means of achieving the American Dream. The
themes that are central to Mario Puzos Godfather are criminal legitimacy and revenge, in which
Puzo chronicles the ascent of the Corleone Mafia family under the leadership of Don Vito Corleone,
a criminal mastermind, and his sons. Drawing parallels to American corporate structure, Don Vito s
benevolent authority is founded on supreme organizational control, calculated judgment, and swift
retaliation against all enemies of the family, including traitors and the incompetent within the clan
as well as members of opposing factions. In The Godfather Puzo begins to explore the dubious
status of organized crime as a self sufficient social entity governed by its own hallowed customs
and rigid codes of behavior, particularly personal honour and loyalty. The Sicilian is regarded as a
sequel to The Godfather, Puzo revisits the Corleone family.

Similarities Between Mencius And Xun-Zi

POLI 113A Midterm Paper
Professor: Magagna, Victor Valentine
Nov. 3th, 2016
Prompt: Explain the conception of human nature in Mencius and Xun Zi. (sources: lectures, Yao,
Mencius, Xun Zi)
The powerful understanding and concepts of human nature took shape at the time of Confucius,
Mencius and Xun Zi. Mencius and Xun Zi are famous Chinese philosiphers in the early B.C.
centuries. Both of them hold opinions towards human nature but their philosiphy approaches
strongly disagree upon human s instinct desire to conduct good or evil deeds. Mencius believes that
humans have the tendancy to behave rational, whereas Xun Zi claims that humans are born bad.
Although these two conceptions seem distinctly contradictory with each other, they do share some
similarities in aspects of politics. This paper explains conception of human nature in Mencius and
Xun Zi, and also analyzes similarities underlying the apparent conflicts of these two theories..
Mencius constructs the idea of good human nature by first raising a question of the child in a
well. He asks that how you would respond if you see a small child who is about to fall into a well,
and the consequences of the child fallling into the well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using tendential he indicates that it is not an established fact but a tendancy, a tendancy to be
rational and social. Since human beings are social individuals, we cooportate sometimes to
survive, and we are moral because we are coorporative. Therefore, due to goodness of human
nature, we are able to make rational decisions and, more importantly, to behave rational . Just as
mentioned before, good human nature is a tendancy but not a fact, human beings are not necessarily
born fully rational, social or moral, but we have the potential to be rational, social and

The Benefits Of College Athletes
A majority of college athletes is living in poverty and know the NCAA is exploiting their talents
for financial gain. College athletes deserve more than a scholarship; their values, on average, are
much greater, The fair market value of the average FBS football and basketball [player] was
$121,048 and $265,027, respectively. ( Price of Poverty). More often than not, players know that
they are not being treated fairly, often finding work arounds in the system to receive payments they
feel they deserve. Top level athletes jump on the opportunity to go pro to be paid for their work,
feeling there is no reward for sticking around to finish their degree in an impoverished environment.

College athletes graduate at an abysmal rate, but improve under conditions where players received
the equivalent of more money in private colleges. Today, athletes continue to grow impatient with
the NCAA s strict regulation of paying athletes, so much that many have been driven to accepting
under the table money from third parties. Although they are not professionals, college athletes
would greatly benefit from being paid because it improves their financial security, increases their
likelihood to complete their degree, and lessens their feeling of being exploited. In sum, the
evidence displayed the necessary information to conclude and affirm the claim that college athletes
are struggling in more ways than one, and the NCAA s outdated restrictions have lead to nothing
but frustration of former and current

If There Is An Artist
If there is an artist, who can challenge the coexistence of beauty and ugliness, it s Bart Hess. Hess is
not only a believer of the beauty in ugly, he pushes his fascination for the human body constantly,
exploring and manipulating textile design, to create tactile textures and surfaces within material
which blur the boundary between humanand new species. His work becomes a questionable object
of perception. During his graduation project at Eindhoven Design Academy, Hess worked on a
series of fake furs, made out of metals, silicone and plastics. The idea of the soft, fluffy, tactile
quality of fur being lost, transcending when coming into contact, it becomes a cold, sharp,
dangerous object. Row upon Row of endless needles inserted into... Show more content on

Then photographing their bodies using the most peculiar of materials, they created fascinating and
simultaneously repugnant images of Globules of Foam engulfing the body, asymmetric spines,
bulged oversized muscled forms. What becomes more apparent within the photographs, the
disturbing blank expressions, the non existent emotional state of the subject, just starring back at
you. It is not horrified or excited about the change of their form, they are merely present and allow
themselves to be shown to you. It s a purely visceral and visually arresting experience, that sort of
lucid acceptance, clearly not hiding the kind of imperfections and oddities that society mostly trains
us to be ashamed of. They are unnervingly confident about themselves. Lucy and Bart s
photographs, no matter how unnerving they might be, present us with a strong character,
something to possibly compare with the likes of Picasso and Da Vinci s painted subjects. The rest
is up to the viewer.
There s something so primal and immediate about seeing human bodies mutated. It calls into
questions all of our ideals about beauty and they way we judge people based on their surfaces.
This odd sort of artistic mingling where the colours are beautiful, but the shapes are grotesque is
really jarring. Or maybe it s the way they seem to know something about their aberrations that we
don t. Like we ve yet to have any idea the kind of powers that lie inside their new bodies and hands
and faces, and as long

Sociological Reflection

Take Home Final
When most people think about sociology they generally think of the study of sociology. However,
sociology is much deeper than just the study of sociology. It displays a plethora of sub topics such
as: crime, deviance, bureaucracy, culture, criminality, socialization, economy, politics, religion,
education, social class and many more. Throughout this fall semester this sociology course has
taught me things that I could never imagine. To be more specific there were actually ten topics that
I learned in this course that was very important to me. Those topics were: crime, deviance,
bureaucracy, nature of science, philosophy, religion, common sense, scientific... Show more content

Shortly after the modernization time period there becomes a development of key ideas
/ sociological ideas from Auguste Comte, Karl Marx, and Emile Durkheim. The most interesting
thing about learning their key ideas were and where they originated. August Comte obtained the
key ideas of the Renaissance and the formation of a good society that consisted of a good society
of exploitation, poverty, inequality, and degradation.Karl Marx s key ideas were composed of the
mode of production, class systems, bourgeoisie, the rise of socialism and communism, capitalist
system and the working class. Make a comparison of the sociology of Karl Marx and Max Weber.
Give examples. Karl Marx and Max Weber had different views and perspectives on society. For
example, Karl Marx believed that the capitalist system of society would disintegrate due to the
revolt of the working class. However, Max Weber preferred the study of social and rational
action, he thought social action was meaningful. Max also speculated that capitalism is a
constellation of social actions. The major sociological ideas of Emile Durkheim were: collective
consciousness, social facts, and industrial society. In the industrial society he believed that there
would have been more crime and deviance because of the breakdown for the balance between
moral absolutism and individual freedom.Durkheim s theory on egoistic suicide was based on a
society where excessive individualism and low social

Mrs. Dalloway And Septimus Smith
In Mrs. Dalloway Clarissa and Septimus smith have various similarities. Clarissa eventually
triumphs over her issues/depression in her life unlike Septimus that eventually loses and
commits suicide. Mrs. Dalloway an upper class 50 year old British wife the central character of
the novel, struggles constantly to balance her thoughts and world. Her world consists of a
fabulous lifestyle such as fine fashion, parties, and aristocratic society, but as she the novel goes
on she looks beneath the glamour of her life and searches for a deeper meaning. Looking for
privacy, Clarissa has a tendency toward introspection that gives her a capacity for emotion. She
is always concerned with appearances around other people and no matter the pressure she keeps
herself composed. She uses a lot of useless talking and activity to keep her ideas and emotions
safe and locked away, which can make her seem shallow even to those who know her well.
A character similar to Mrs. Dalloway Septimus Smith, Septimus was a World War I soldier. He s
a significant person in the novel because he was one of the first characters to show the horrors of
the war. Still shocked and suffering from post traumatic stress disorder due to the war. Virginia
Woolf doesn t depict Septimus as a hero, but as a sufferer or survivor. Septimus is plagued by
feelings of numbness, has serious hallucinations of his dead friend Evans. He changed so much

Electroniccircuits are then used to represent Boolean operations. Since almost all of mathematics
can be reduced to Boolean operations, a sufficiently fast electronic computer is capable of sloving
almost any mathematical problems (and the majority of information processing problems that can
be translated into mathematical ones). This basic idea, which made modern digital computers
possible, was formally identified and explored by Claude E. Shannon.
Computers cannot solve all mathematical problems. Alan Turing identified which problems could
and could not be solved by computers, and in doing so founded theoretical computer science.
When the computer is finished calculating the problem, the result must be displayed to the user as
output through output devices like light bulbs, LEDs, monitors, beamers and printers.
Novice users, especially children, often have difficulty understanding the important idea that the
computer is only a machine, and cannot think or understand the words it displays. The computer is
simply performing a mechanical lookup on preprogrammed tables of lines and colors, which are
then translated into arbitrary patterns of light by the output device. It is the human brain which
recognizes that those patterns form letters and numbers, and attaches meaning to them. All that
existing computers do is manipulate electrons that are logically equivalent to ones and zeroes; there

Trope Of Shame In Lancelot And Guinevere
Throughout this course, the class has read various pieces of Arthurian literature. Each of these
pieces hold their own contributions in the genre and differentiate both plot and concepts. Most of
these concepts can be labeled as tropes, which are figurative or metaphorical use of a word or
expression. One trope that was found while analyzing the texts was shame, or the painful feeling of
humiliation. The trope of shame is prominent in both the medieval legend Lancelot or the Knight of
the Cart and Natsume Soseki s more modern story, Kairo ko. Both sources emphasizes the shame
that is felt by Lancelot and Guineverebut in two very contrasting ways. These sources can also be
compared to the tale Sir Gawainin the Green Knight, which deals with shame a lesson that can be
learned, rather than a pitiful thing. All three of these Arthurian legends use the trope of shame to
shape both the characters and stories in their own way.
In ChrГ©tien de Troyes Lancelot or the Knight of the Cart, Lancelot s first shameful action is
hesitating after his is offered to ride in the prisoner cart by the dwarf driving it. ChrГ©tien de
Troyes writes: At that, the dwarf continued on his way without slowing down even an instant for
the knight, who hesitated but two steps before climbing in. He would regret this moment of
hesitation and be accused and shamed for it; he would come to consider himself ill used. But
Reason, who does not follow Love s command, told him to beware of getting in, warned and and
counseled him not to do anything for which he might incur disgrace or reproach (177). No matter
what decision Lancelot would have made, he would have been shamed in the end. If Lancelot have
no hesitated, he would have been shamed by the rest of the knightly community for riding the cart
despite his mentality. No matter what, Guinevere would have pressured Lancelot into shame for
hesitation or not riding the cart in general.
After Lancelot finds Guinevere, the forbidden lovers have a conversation regarding Lancelot s
adventure. It it revealed that Guinevere knows about Lancelot s two step hesitation to get into the
dwarf s cart and is displeased with his actions. Guinevere replies to Lancelot s question of
displeasement with this:

Essay about Satan in Paradise Lost and The Myth of Sisyphus
Satan s predicament after he falls in Paradise Lost is utterly hopeless, yet he chooses to persevere.
He reasons that he should continue to struggle, even though he is aware that it is entirely in vain.
The process he follows to arrive at this choice is similar to the process Albert Camus will use to
justify the unrelenting toil of his absurd man. Before this becomes apparent, portions of Satanas a
character must be eliminated from consideration, because they present an intractable set of
problems. Prior to his rebellion, Satan is a divine being, who stood st in Heav n, upright and
pure, (IV, 936 37) like God and the other angels. We do not get a clear portrayal of this character,
only Satan s and Raphaels memories and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once Satan has been irredeemably dammed, however, he becomes an entirely different
character. He becomes essentially human, in that he simply is a conscious being who exists
and has the choice to either continue to exist, or give up, without any external evidence to give
him a justification for continuing. It is unclear whether suicide is actually an option for him.
Since his continued existence is at God s pleasure, we could say it is not Satan s choice at all,
but then everything Satan does is ultimately at God s pleasure. And God has given him free will,
whatever that means. It is sufficient to say that Satan does have the option to choose to want to
die, event if he might actually be able to carry out this act. But he does not choose that, nor does
he choose to see take the certainty that his predicament can not really improve as a reason to just
quit trying. Where does he get his justification for this choice? He has to make it up from whole
cloth. The objective evidence says there is no point. He ignores this, and instead invents a purpose
for himself. Once he has succeeded in convincing himself to go on, he as solved the problem of the
absurd man, and may presumably continue to apply this same solution indefinitely. He may fail and
fail, but that changes nothing. He began in failure and hopelessness, and

Revolutionary War Influence
The American Revolutionary War was the most influential war in American History. The
Background of the war is the British were taxing the colonists heavily and creating outrageous
laws. Such as the Intolerable Acts, where the British took away access to the Boston Port. They
also took away some of their rights to self government. They made trail for British officials
available in Britain and made it legal to search homes and buildings. The colonists were fed up with
the British and started rebelling. They had rebellions such as the Boston Tea Party, where they
dumped tons of Britain s tea into the Boston Harbor. The start of the battle took place in Lexington
Massachusetts. A unknown minuteman fired a shot at a British soldier which, started... Show more

Essay On Roanoke
There are a multitude of mysteries in life, some greater than others. Some mysteries are solvable,
and some we can only create solutions for in both well made and sloppily built theories. America
itself has had its fair share of mysteries, some bigger than others, but by far one of the oldest may
be the mysterious conditions surrounding the lost colony of roanoke. In current day North
Carolina resides a series of small island; and within this cluster of islands lives Roanoke. It s
name comes from the very mystery that haunts the place, Roanoke Colony. Almost 500 years ago,
100 or so men, women, and children disappeared somewhere over the course of 3 years. Among
these colonists were Eleanor Dare and her daughter, the first english child to be born in what would

The second colony fell under the same circumstances, though the hostility between the colonists and
natives was more strained. When the third expedition finally came around, it was led not by Sir
Walter Raleigh, but instead by english artist John White ( Ancient Origins.net;
Encyclopediavirginia.org ). It was at this point the tensions between the colonists and the natives
relaxed enough for relatively friendly communications to begin. The hostility fell away when it
was realized that White had brought along not only male colonists, but women and children,
including his daughter Eleanor Dare and her husband, Annaise Dare. Her child, Virginia Dare, was
the first english child born in the americas ( history.com ). With their relations greatly improving
with local natives, it seemed as though the english colony of Roanoke was faring much better than
its predecessors. Unfortunately, not unlike the previous colonies, they began to suffer from a
severe lack of resources. In the year 1587, John White left Roanoke and sailed back to england in
hopes of returning with more supplies. His departure, however, occurred during a

The Tragedy Of Tragedy And The Eyes Of Aristotle
Tragedy is seen by most as a circumstance or occasion that outcomes in misfortune and mishap. In
cutting edge society, it isn t uncommon to hear people name something as inconsequential as
breaking their telephone screen a Tragedy. Be that as it may, Tragedy is more intricate. Aristotle
rethinks catastrophe through the lense of dramatization as the impersonation of an activity that is
not kidding furthermore, as having greatness, finish in itself; in fitting and pleasurable language;...
in a sensational as opposed to account shape; with occurrences exciting compassion and dread,
wherewith to achieve a purge of these feelings. Through the eyes of Aristotle, a catastrophe

character, or shocking saint, to emerge inside the group of onlookers individuals. Not just ought to
the gathering of people feel a feeling of pity, yet they ought to feel a feeling of dread amid the
movement of the play for the deplorable saint since they can suspect the sad legend s destruction
before the anagnorisis. There is a typical conviction that legends come in capes, can accomplish the
unachievable, and are faultless. Aristotle challenges that conviction with the terrible legend. To
him, a lamentable saint is thought to be a person whose difficulty emerges, not through bad habit or
evil but rather by some mistake of judgment. The heartbreaking legend is portrayed as moral and
upright yet not

Peer Pressure In George Orwell s Shooting An Elephant
Peer pressure s grasp reaches everybody daily. Too often people tend follow the crowd s decision
instead of maintaining their own morals. The guilt felt after conceding to a crowd s way of
thinking can crush a person. In a small Burmese town, a police officer feels pressure in a defining
showdown with an elephant. George Orwellreveals the consequences of caving into peer pressure
through imagery found in Shooting an Elephant.
The protagonist repeats over and over he does not want to shoot this elephant. The officer shows
his tender emotions towards elephants and depicts early on the grandmotherly air they possess.
Orwell conveys many times his unwillingness to shoot the elephant, and at one point he says the
gun he grabs to shoot it was much too small to kill an elephant. Subconsciously, he did not want
this elephant to die, so he grabs this small rifle just to stop the fear in the crowd. After it suffers for
a while, Orwell s sheds a light on his inner conflict with shooting the animal. His incapability of
comprehending his actions devastate him and he, could not stand it any longer and went away. ...

A Research on Sexually Transmitted Diseases
A Research on Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) STDs are among the very significant and
preventable public health issues affecting the society and the globe at large today. In the
development stage of human beings, it is of significance that they involve themselves in sexual
activities. At this development stage, it is of note that adolescents mostly are at risk of
contracting STDs. This is in all cultures because sexual activity is highest during the adolescent
stage. This calls for early intervention to help them deal with this health problem. Educating the
adolescents to abstain, and use contraceptives in early sexual activities, are the most important
factors to deal with this issue (Oncel, Kulakac, Akcan, Eravsar Dedeoglu, 2011). Knowledge of
STDs does not have to influence the sexual behavior. Most adolescents are ignorant on how STDs
transmit. Lack of sexual information is the main cause of the increase in sexual activity among the
youth. Many male and female youth ignore the physiological and psychological development of
their bodies. This research aims to examine the sexual knowledge and behavior of adolescents
towards the subject matter, STDs, to determine some factors including age, sex, and family status
affecting the involvement of the respondents in sexual acts (Oncel et. al., 2011). Research work
reveals that the awareness of the adolescents about sexuality and STDs appears to be inadequate.
This mainly is because of the ignorance of health workers.

  • 3. Essay On Sarty In William Faulkner s Barn Burning Barn Burning (1939) by William Faulkner is a short story set during the Dust Bowl, a time of overexploited soil and bad weather conditions caused by the rapid industrialisation that had taken place in the preceding years. It follows a family of farmers in the Southern region of the United States who are going to their new house after the father, Abner, has been accused of burning the barn where they were working, and has been then expelled from the country for doing so. The main issue in the story is faced by the son, Sarty, who is struggling between turning his father in and follow the rules of justice, or stand by his familydespite knowing that it means breaking the law. Thus, the action is executed by Abner whilst the mental reflection is realized by Sarty, making it difficult to determine who is the protagonist. The aim of this essay is to study the transformation Sarty experiences, hence establishing him as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reader is experiencing the story through his perspective, whether he is the one narrating or a limited third person narrator is, therefore not having a full account of the events that take place, for what can be seen is merely what Sarty sees and experiences himself. In such a narration, it is not possible to fully understand other characters, because they are not as accessible as the protagonist. Abner s intentions and what motivates him are unknown, to both the reader and Sarty himself, as it can be observed when a third person narrator informs that His father had struck him before last night but never before had he paused afterward to explain why (4). His reasons can be interpreted in different ways but there is no explicit confirmation in the story. Point of view is highly important in Barn Burning since it is an effective way to highlight what the author wants the reader to pay attention to, which is Sarty s inner conflict over Abner s own reasons to burn ... • 4. The Father Of Feminism In Madame Bovary Flaubert is presented in the history of literature as the father of realism. I myself am Madame Bovary . In his fabulous novel Madame Bovary he was able to metamorphose himself into a woman. The work has revealed Flaubert s narcissism, his onanism, his idealism, his solitude, his dependence, his feminity, his passivity (Sartre 15). The protagonist of Flaubert s Madame Bovary, is a nineteenth century romantic woman, who dreamt futilely of escaping from a life that has become a prison to her. She has got a highly romanticised view of the world and craves beauty, passion and wealth. The first glimpse that we have of Emma is through Charles eyes. Flaubert creates a fragmentary and progressive portrait of Emma, the whiteness of her nail, her deep black eyes, and her full lips. She was soaked and whipped by the men who took everything from her and dipped her into the marshy grounds of adultery.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She found nothing in the gray flat country to devour her romantic spirit. It was in such a dry situation that she meets Charles Bovary, who was a country doctor. She took him as her celestial lover; man who excelled in manifold activities and who could initiate her into the energies of passion and refinements of life. But she has been too late when she realized his cowardice and docility. Her man idol soon scatters and she stands baffled in front of her eternal dreams. Disillusioned and disgusted as she was, desperate and hopeless as she was, rush was to an other world , may be adultery in a pejorative sense, but to her it was a key to her house of dreams. In spite of being disenchanted she rather continues her wild search for real deity. Her mounting hatred for Charles can be seen when she later observes ... his thick lips trembling, which lend an added stupidity to his face. Even his back...was irritating to see. • 6. Analysis Of Shel Silverstein s Works In this fun strategy, students use a phone, (usually a rounded piece of plastic, like a PVC pipe) to hear themselves. It is effective for building fluency, since students can focus on their speaking. Additionally, they help to keep students focused on instruction. Students monitor their own reading and the classroom is usually quiet because students are encouraged to whisper (hence the name) so that all students can hear themselves (Cadieux, 2012). This strategy is a simple one: practice. The more students practice, the better they will read. At some point, students will no longer need to fully focus on decoding. Instead, they can read with fluency. It is important to select fun books when going about this. Students should want to read their books. Shel Silverstein s works, for example. The poet s stories are short and entertaining. Partner Reading is a cooperative learning strategy in which two students work together to read a text. The Partner Reading strategy allows students to take turns reading and provide each other with feedback as a way to monitor (Classroom Strategies Partner Reading, n.d.). Students who are struggling readers work well as partners. They may be partnered with a student who is a better reader, for additional support. Alternatively, when provided support, they may be partnered with another student at the same level, letting them know they are not alone. In this case, a group of three, with the strongest reader in class might be helpful. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many things in this world that people have different views on, but this topic, I feel, is a very controversial one that causes a lot of dispute. I feel that if you are a victim of rape then you should have the right to have abortion be one of your options. This should be acceptable because most likely, the molested will have PTSD and having a product of that situation around will only make it worse. I think I speak for everyone when I say that you wouldn t want to have a child that would remind you of that horrible time in your life every time that you look at them. That would make your child s life even harder, to have a mother who is disgusted by their own offspring. Also, your psychological problems, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Honestly, I feel like the worst thing that could ever happen is to being put in a situation that you know you can t handle. Nobody choses to get raped, and rape is always a traumatic experience. A poll taken by the Gallup Organization in 1989 indicated that 81 percent of Americans approved of abortionin cases of rape or incest and 75 percent approved if carrying the pregnancy to term would damage the mother s health. If more than half of the population that voted agreed that it was acceptable 26 years ago, then why are people today so against it? Furthermore, there are a number of important factors that should be considered when starting a business. One of the most fundamental factors involved in starting a business is determining what business entity to operate the business under. Choosing a business entity that is not aligned with your particular business model can in many cases lead to several problems that can be potentially very costly. The four most common business entities are a sole proprietorship, partnership, LLC, and a corporation. • 10. Defense Of Marriage Act Ruled Unconstitutional Defense of Marriage Act Ruled Unconstitutional: How the Supreme Court s Ruling on DOMA Will Affect Same Sex Taxpayers Melissa Williams Troy University November 20, 2014 Author s Note This paper was prepared for Federal Tax Research 6684T, taught by Dr. Kaye Sheridan. Abstract On June 26, 2013, The United States Supreme Court struck down Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), enabling same sex couples legally married under state law to be recognized for the purpose and benefit of federal law. Section 3 of DOMA previously defined marriage as the legal union of two persons of the opposite sex. This definition was challenged in several court cases for violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fifth Amendment. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Edith Windsor in U.S. v. Windsor, declaring DOMA Section 3 unconstitutional and allowing same sex couples to be recognized as married for federal purposes. This opens up several opportunities within federal income tax and estate and gift tax. Some of these benefits include higher standard deductions and gain exclusion; opportunity to lower tax bracket through combining incomes; and entitlement to the marital deduction, gift splitting, and portability of DSUE. Marriage also results in tax disadvantages such as the marriage penalty, joint and several liability, and refund offsetting. Taxpayers and tax preparers should be aware of the new planning opportunities available to married same sex couples, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Democratic Republic of Congo was a personal matter on most fronts for the King and because of all the natural resources that came with gaining the land that was Congo. Just to name a few of the natural resources, there are diamonds, gold, copper, cobalt, cassiterite (or tin), along with oil and coltan. So in taking over the once free state of Congo the King not only gained the natural resources, but in his demented mind he also gained the people or work force to harvest these resources. • 13. An Abusive Relationship Of The Scarlet Letter Divorce. If you have left an abusive marriage you are either headed in this direction or are there now. The scarlet letter D is one many do not foresee being attached to their name. It was not a word I ever expected to find attached to mine. Ever. In fact, had you asked me in my younger years if I believed I would ever wear the title of divorcee you would have received a loud resounding no. I would never be one of those people. That would have honestly been my answer. Truly. Taking the step to leave an abusive relationship takes great amounts of courage. Walking away from the aspects of financial security, family for your children, stability (what little may exist), your home and so forth is not an easy decision to make. You make a choice, take that first scary step and trust that if you fall, the pain will be less than the pain you have been experiencing. Oftentimes the pain is not less and in fact, ends up worse than what you left behind. For a woman with children, when the choice is made to leave, there is the new responsibility of solely being the provider for her children in every way possible. Food, shelter, clothing, school needs, all fall on that mama who has chosen to protect her children from the wolf who longs to devour. You see, when you leave an abuser, there is no financial support. There is no co parenting. There is no concern on the part of the abuser for those children. There is only the need to win. The need to take down the woman who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The best way I know of doing that is through customer service, which unfortunately is given much lip service, but not much actual practice in my experience. My last car purchase was from a company that invited new car buyers to a catered supper within three months after the purchase. • 16. The Rank Of Eagle Scout Essay Achievement is a very important thing for many reasons. Our achievements are what define us and give us purpose. Achievement helps determine just how far we are willing to go to achieve goals and to make ourselves successful. I have worked for many achievements, in my lifetime, and I have many things that I am proud of. However, out of all of my achievements, I would say that my greatest achievement, was earning the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. The rank of Eagle Scout is not something that is easily achieved. Many people have struggled to obtain the rank and have failed. However, many of America s most influential figures have won the rank of Eagle Scout. Neil Armstrong, Hank Aaron, and Rick Perry are just a few well known figures who have obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. To add the rank s prestige and importance, those who do receive the rank make up a very small portion of the Boy Scouts who join the program. When I was seven years old, I remember seeing boys from the school s Cub Scouts program walking through the hallway. Dawned in dark blue uniforms, with orange neckties, and many colorful badges, these scouts stunned me by the unity and patriotic spirit that they showed. That evening, I went home from school and ran to the kitchen table where my father was sitting. I explained to him that I wanted to join scouting. He smiled at me and quickly took me to the local Boy Scouts headquarters, where I was signed up for a pack as it was called. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Colonists Actions and British Government s Responses 1760s 1770s The imposition of taxes on the American Colonies by the British Government in the 1760s set in motion a series of action and reaction that led to a break between the components of the British Empire. Americans responded with much anger and public resistance to the Stamp Act in 1763. Much of this resistance was expressed in the colonies of Massachusetts and Virginia. In Massachusetts, the mobs not only threatened violence, but damaged and at times destroyed the property of officials who were involved in the Stamp Act s implementation. Virginia on the other hand took legislative action denouncing the imposition of taxes on the Colonies by Parliament. It was Virginia s example that was followed nine of her sister colonies when their legislatures made similar resolutions. These actions also lled to the formation of the Stamp Act Congress in October 1765 (Middlekauff, 2005). This Stamp Act Congress sent an appeal to Parliament and the King requesting the repeal of the Stamp Act with the justification that the costs associated with the act would prevent the colonies from purchasing British goods (Brown Carp, 2014). Conflict over the Stamp Act caused great discord in Parliament over how to deal with the colonies. In Stilwell (2003) journal, Palaeocene faunas are characterized by a perceived rapid evolutionary radiation involving many new taxa at both genus and species level. Stilwell stated Molluscs living at the beginning of tertiary period after the K T extinction event was the beginning of modern fauna. There was research that saw the decimation of scores of marine organisms. Mollusc groups were mentioned (e.g. Ammonites, Belemnites Rudistid and Trigoniid Bivalves), (Stilwell, 2003). In Stilwell s research journal, Austral Palaeocene Molluscs focuses on the composition of faunas and patterns of evolution, it shows diversity and riches. The Southern Hemisphere show the break up of Supercontinent Gondwana and also changes in oceanic circulation and climate. In the northern Hemisphere shows major diversity changes in the Marine Realm. Moreover, humans can be the cause too because they use too much water during times of normal rainfall which leads to the immediate consequence that we might not have enough ... The growing population can cause destruction of grass lands and this can cause desertification. Drought and growing populations are not only the two causes of desertification but also there is a third reason which is war. War happens due to many reasons such as economics, land, resources, religious beliefs, and importantly power (Halo3Pro, 2011). War contributes badly to cause desertification. People start eliminating themselves and leaving their lands empty and dusty. A great example that supports this point is the radiation in Japan. When the hydrogen bombs dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, thousands of people were killed. Additionally, the bomb left disastrous environment in the surrounding areas. Chemicals and poisons had destroyed everything including plants and the most fundamental gas for breathing which is oxygen. Puzo s early novels, The Dark Arena and The Fortunate Pilgrim, exhibit the realistic narrative style typical of his later fiction and are considered minor classics of Italian American literature. The Dark Arena talks about an American soldier who came back to a occupied Germany after the Second World War. Introducing the theme of violent retribution, Puzo s protagonist kills a black market drug supplier to show his rage at government , corruption in postwar Europe, and his own failure to secure lifesaving medication for his German girlfriend. In The Fortunate Pilgrim, Puzo takes us to Hell s kitchen and talks about the experiences of an Italian woman who struggles to surmount poverty and crime. Though extolling her courage, cunning, and traditional values Puzo s description of petty criminal activity in the poor Italian American neighbourhood offers ironic justification for the life of crime as an alternate means of achieving the American Dream. The themes that are central to Mario Puzos Godfather are criminal legitimacy and revenge, in which Puzo chronicles the ascent of the Corleone Mafia family under the leadership of Don Vito Corleone, a criminal mastermind, and his sons. Drawing parallels to American corporate structure, Don Vito s benevolent authority is founded on supreme organizational control, calculated judgment, and swift retaliation against all enemies of the family, including traitors and the incompetent within the clan as well as members of opposing factions. In The Godfather Puzo begins to explore the dubious status of organized crime as a self sufficient social entity governed by its own hallowed customs and rigid codes of behavior, particularly personal honour and loyalty. The Sicilian is regarded as a sequel to The Godfather, Puzo revisits the Corleone family. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Trope Of Shame In Lancelot And Guinevere Throughout this course, the class has read various pieces of Arthurian literature. Each of these pieces hold their own contributions in the genre and differentiate both plot and concepts. Most of these concepts can be labeled as tropes, which are figurative or metaphorical use of a word or expression. One trope that was found while analyzing the texts was shame, or the painful feeling of humiliation. The trope of shame is prominent in both the medieval legend Lancelot or the Knight of the Cart and Natsume Soseki s more modern story, Kairo ko. Both sources emphasizes the shame that is felt by Lancelot and Guineverebut in two very contrasting ways. These sources can also be compared to the tale Sir Gawainin the Green Knight, which deals with shame a lesson that can be learned, rather than a pitiful thing. All three of these Arthurian legends use the trope of shame to shape both the characters and stories in their own way. In ChrГ©tien de Troyes Lancelot or the Knight of the Cart, Lancelot s first shameful action is hesitating after his is offered to ride in the prisoner cart by the dwarf driving it. ChrГ©tien de Troyes writes: At that, the dwarf continued on his way without slowing down even an instant for the knight, who hesitated but two steps before climbing in. He would regret this moment of hesitation and be accused and shamed for it; he would come to consider himself ill used. But Reason, who does not follow Love s command, told him to beware of getting in, warned and and counseled him not to do anything for which he might incur disgrace or reproach (177). No matter what decision Lancelot would have made, he would have been shamed in the end. If Lancelot have no hesitated, he would have been shamed by the rest of the knightly community for riding the cart despite his mentality. No matter what, Guinevere would have pressured Lancelot into shame for hesitation or not riding the cart in general. After Lancelot finds Guinevere, the forbidden lovers have a conversation regarding Lancelot s adventure.
