INTERDISCIPLINARY TRAINING
Teamwork (Fruit farm group, Team F6) to elaborate a technical scientific report that provided an introduction with the
framing of the company of interest [Brunetti Paolo fruit farm at Verzuolo (CN)] as a whole [environmental resources
(climate and soil), structures, SAU organization, allocation and management culture, defense management, marketing,
etc.], complementary and explanatory to the next part, aimed to answer the following questions:
- Detect the technical evolution in the apple orchard, by comparison of crop management and defense in old
and new Apple systems in the company and the impact on the income and company level.
- Determine the production cost of the holding apples object of study.
The required data have been acquired through:
- Direct surveys to be acquired in the field (eg. soil, cultivation, plant protection).
- Information provided by the manager as a result of questions asked by students (where possible checked on
the field).
- Material provided by teachers or literature sources, when not otherwise be acquired.
The information acquired have covered:
- The choice of crops and varieties in relation to the reference market.
- The characteristics of the soils and their productive potential.
- Cultural practices adopted.
- The physiological and phytosanitary status of crops.
- The main biotic and abiotic adversities.
- The situation of the machinery park.
- The farm productions for different crop types or varieties.
FINAL TEST
Literature-review based dissertation.
Title: BIOFACTORIES FOR CROP PROTECTION: FRAMING, ANALISIS AND PROSPECTS.
Abstract: The objective of this literature review is to frame and analyze the biofactories for crop protection
(biofactories producing organisms used for the protection of crops) in order to assess their future prospects. In this
regard, both the progresses made in crop protection and the innovations in the mass production of beneficial
organisms will be taken into account. Initially, the research will focus on framing the biofactories for crop protection
and, for this purpose, there will be an analysis of the principles and methods of integrated pest management,
compatible with the use of the beneficial organisms produced by the biofactories. Subsequently, the research will
focus on the biological control, the auxiliary organisms used within the same and the methods to use these beneficials.
Later, the biofactories, their logistics and the produced organisms will be analyzed with the intent to bring out the key
factors for future developments. In the end, the prospects of the biofactories for crop protection will be examined
directly and indirectly. Particular attention will be directed towards the defense from phytophagous in the broad sense
and the production of auxiliary arthropods.
Key words: biofactories, IPM, biological control, prospects.
