Heat is used in our everyday
activities. We use heat when cooking,
burning, lighting, sterilizing and many
other tasks.

matchsticks also produces
heat. Striking a stick on
the side of a matchbox
causes friction, which
produces heat. This heat
burns the stick and is then
transformed into light
that can brighten the
surroundings. Heat energy
is very useful for burning,
which is later changed
into other forms of energy
for various applications.
Igniting a matchsticks shows the transformation of
fuel to heat energy and then to light energy.
