(note) Living in a democracy gives you certain rights which are
protected by the constitution.
(task) Rank these six rights from most to least important:

religion, freedom to join associations (parties, unions, etc)

2. We are going to read pages 219 and 220 of the book.
We will take notes along the way.
You will then complete a page from your activity
book.
At the end of class, I shall give you advice on your
action report, a half page you should have at the
beginning to introduce it.

3. I will need two people to read about a paragraph each today and
about eight people to read a line each. Raise hands after each
paragraph or line.
(note) One right does not excuse another. You have the right to
express yourself but being racist attacks a person’s right to
equality or religion.
(note) Laws are created by the majority but must respect the
minority. We are all the minority at some stage.
(note) Lobby: to seek to influence a change in a law or issue.
(Discuss) Look at the image on page 219 and discuss different forms
of protest. Do you think that woman's protest is effective?
