Placement Exam   ACT vs. COMPASS ACT: ACT scores are typically located on your high school transcript or you may request a copy at www.studentact.org.  The Record’s Office must have a copy of your scores in your file. New ACT packets may be picked up in the ARC or Admissions. Required ACT sub-scores: English -19 Reading – 18 Math – 22 If you do not meet the sub-scores, you will need to make arrangements to take the COMPASS, just in the area you are lacking.
Placement Exam   ACT vs. COMPASS COMPASS: COMPASS is a computerized placement exam that will help you, and your advisor, place you in the correct English, Math and Reading classes. COMPASS testing is conducted in the ARC, located on the 2 nd  floor of Newton Hall.  You need to take the COMPASS if: You haven’t already taken the ACT Have taken the ACT but did not get the appropriate ACT sub-scores.
Placement Exam   ACT vs. COMPASS COMPASS: Once you pay the one-time Application fee, you are eligible to take the COMPASS free of charge.  The COMPASS may be retaken once per year.  Each retake will cost $5.00 per section.
Understanding Prep Classes  & Pre-requisites ACT sub-score of 22 or Math Sequence  Math 40* Math 50*/104 Math 100**/BSAD 121 Math 107/111 *Depending on enrolled course, students must have met required mastery level or have a C or better in order to move to the next level. **Must have a passing grade to move on.
Understanding Prep Classes  & Pre-requisites Math 111 College Algebra (3-0) 3 credits College Algebra studies algebraic expressions, Real and complex numbers, algebraic functions, equations, inequalities, exponential and  logarithmic functions. This course will satisfy most degree requirements in mathematics and  should transfer to any four-year institution. College Algebra will help prepare the student for an increasingly technical society. (Prerequisite: Math 100 or an appropriate  placement exam score.) (Fall-Spring-Summer)

Understanding Prep Classes  & Pre-requisites ENGL 101 English Composition (3-0) 3 credits The primary aim of this freshman-writing course is to give students instruction and  practice in writing mechanically correct,  well organized and well-developed expository themes on topics of importance and significance. This course fulfills a portion of communications General education requirements. (Prerequisites: 1) ENGL 100 or an appropriate score on the  placement exam. 2) OA 105 or an appropriate keyboard placement score.) (Fall-Spring-Summer) Note: OA 105 is Introduction to Keyboarding

The  Growth of political, social and economic Institutions is emphasized. Successful  completion of HIST 106 fulfills the Missouri State requirements in constitution study and  partially fulfills Social and Behavioral Science general education requirements.
