Hypnosis is an artificially induced state of concentration where deeper parts of the mind become more accessible. It can be created naturally or through self-hypnosis, but is also commonly induced by a hypnotist. Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to address issues by exploring their underlying causes in an altered state. While stage hypnosis is merely entertainment, certification makes one a hypnotherapist able to conduct therapy. We drift in and out of natural trance states daily through activities like driving on autopilot or becoming engrossed in a book. Hypnosis does not require surrendering will or control and is a relaxing process that enables abilities beyond normal limits.

 Doing therapy with the client in an altered state

 What you see on stage is not hypnotherapy!--
It is merely hypnosis.
 Upon completion of this program and receiving
your certification, you will be a hypnotherapist,
not a hypnotist!

Everybody can be hypnotized--
As long as they are willing
And, in fact we are hypnotized
"unofficially" on a regular basis

Examples:
 Keep an arm stiff and rigid for a
lengthy period of time without any
discomfort
