The document presents DeepFace, a face recognition system that significantly closes the performance gap between machine and human-level accuracy in face verification by employing 3D face modeling and a deep neural network with over 120 million parameters. The system achieves a remarkable accuracy of 97.35% on the Labeled Faces in the Wild dataset, reducing error rates by more than 27% compared to previous state-of-the-art methods. It utilizes raw pixel RGB values and a compact representation, moving away from traditional methods that rely on engineered features.
