The Ideologies Put Forth By Paulo Freire
The ideologies put forth by Paulo Freire including liberation education, pedagogy of the oppressed,
inequality and pedagogy of possibility gives educators hope. These are the educators who are
dedicated to bring about positive change in education and by extension society. Freire s contribution to
education through his research and theories resonates with Trinbagonian educators as it encompasses
issues of slavery, colonialism, post colonialism social mobility and democracy. Furthermore, Freire s
ontology is grounded in comprehensive philosophical underpinnings including that of John Dewey
and Jean Piaget. Their contributions have shaped education internationally as well as locally. Thus, the
authors critique of Freire s work in an attempt to restructure his theories is a worthwhile analysis and
allows for self reflection, critical thinking and the assurance of hope, in that, if education does nothing
else, it must inspire hope in reference to the school of pragmatism. Such an educational philosophy in
the words to Giroux (2007), points to a future in which democratic practices create the conditions for
each generation of youth to struggle anew to sustain the promise of a democracy that has no end point,
but that must be continuously expanded into a world of new possibilities and opportunities for keeping
justice and hope alive. (p.201)

Improvements through Grid and Utility Computing Essay
Improvements through Grid and Utility Computing
Introduction
In the competitive business world of today, companies have to strive to be the best. They have to
develop new ideas and innovations that set them apart. At the same time, these companies need to find
ways to perform more efficiently. If a company is efficient in their capabilities then the typical results
are the business has lower costs and/or they are performing to the best of their abilities. All companies
in today s world strive for all these things because they know if they do not they will fall behind and
send business to their competitors. Many companies have been using a component that helps reduce
costs and allows information to be accessed easier across ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This gave birth to today s idea of grid computing.
Grid computing is a large number of servers acting as one computer (oracle.com). This idea works on
the concept of grids. A grid is a combination of severs, networks, storage, and information working
together. These things work together to, create one or more large pools of computing resources
(grid.ziffdavis.com). A grid is unique in that it can be molded and changed to fit the specific needs and
demands of each business. Grid is a type of parallel and distributed system that enable the sharing
selection, and aggregation of geographically distributed autonomous resources dynamically at runtime
depending on their availability, capability, performance, cost, and users quality of service requirements
(gridcomputing.com). It is based on the idea of cooperation and being able to sharing information. It is
different from the idea of the internet because instead of sending the information to others, it is all
stored in one place together which is accessible. The grid allows the organization s users to share their
information and the company s application with one another easily. No matter where the members are
in a company they are able to access and use the information that other employees have on the grid.
Each member of the company is able to access applications and company information. Utility
computing on the other hand is based on an

Comparative Essay On Who s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf
Researching Edward Albee s scandalous play Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf (1962), my case study
will focus on the adaptation from stage to film, outlining the issues faced with both the original artists
and my own group as artists. This specific piece of work from playwright Edward Albee is arguably
the best American play of the 1960s (Leff 1981, p. 453), which encouraged Warner Brothers to gain
the screen rights and recreate it as a film starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. On Broadway,
Albee s play had been critized for its lack of clarity (Leff 1981, p. 456) however, when creating the
film adaptation, Ernest Lehman, Jack Warner and Mike Nichols faced other issues regarding the
release of the movie due to it s profanity that would be subjected to the public, and ... Show more

In developing Albee s scandalous play to a famous and shocking black and white feature film, the
studio boss, Jack Warner, was adamant that the film adaptation being created kept the honesty and
integrity that the play held. This led to the filmmaker s conclusion to use Albee s original play of Who
s Afraid of Virginia Woolf (1962) as the screenplay for the film, allowing for the recreation to be
faithful to its counterpart. The decision made to try and stay true to Albee s play revealed that it wasn t
a straightforward task for the filmmakers as there were a process of seven major drafts written as
Warner strove to give the work both a visual and verbal texture (Leff 1981, p. 453). However, it wasn t
only Warner who insisted on reproducing the original play as best that they were able to as Mike
Nichols discussed that to him Albee s text was sacrosanct (Leff

Advantages Of Political Dynasty In The Philippines
An Argumentative Essay About a Phillipine or Local Issue
Topic: Political Dynasty
Despite not being an economically rich state, Philippines is known for having people who deeply
value their family members. Family oriented Filipinos give importance to even to their most distant
relatives as long as they have the same blood running through their veins. In this practice also,
Filipinos tend to seek advices from the elders of the family before making a huge decision. Thus,
decisions are made not by one for himself but by a group for the entirety of the family. (Agoncillo,
2012, p.6)

This statement did not just come from us but from the research and survey we have conducted.
Political dynasty has already been long present in the political structure of the Philippines. It can be
manifested when a family member runs, and most often than not, wins the election and his position is
soon succeeded by one of his family members as well. This cycle goes on and on and the scope of the
family s territory becomes wider and wider every election for the members can run on different places.
This is often practiced by rich and influential families; families who have been political since their
forefathers and have followed the tradition as well.
Political dynasties started to emerge just after the Philippine Revolution happened. It was also when
the First Republic of the Philippines was established. The Philippine Revolution was the fight between
the people of the Philippines and the Spanish colonizers. According to the book The Making of a
Filipino which is written by Renato Constantino, political dynasty was believed to be first recorded
way back in the pre Magellanic period where the rulers where the datu, raja, and maharlika. They

Literary Analysis Of The Painted Bird

It s hard to imagine having your entire family murdered as a young kid, living in a century where war
attacks were in every corner. This was the life of the young boy in the story The Painted Bird.
Although the author, Jerzy Kosinski, never confirmed the book as an autobiography, it was easy to feel
the pain as if he experienced it himself. The Painted Bird is a heartfelt novel that gives us all a glimpse
into the dark reality of our past. The author is able to walk us through what I believe was his life. We
are lead through a series of trauma the young boy experienced. The boy shares the dark reality that
anyone that is that vulnerable can be tortured, abused and killed by anyone, including family. The boy
s tragic life is a testimony of how terrifying life was like during the world war. Nevertheless, it seems
as though life was just a bit tougher for him because he was different. Life can be difficult for many
people, but it is undeniable that being different can affect the way others view you. *Such life was

such works sum up the universal trauma of war in a myth of unrivaled concentration and clarity.

Hilter s Model Of Fascism
Mussolini s articulates his concept of the State precisely, and his idea of a community shines
throughout it. Within his ideology, it is the sense of community that takes prominence and race does
not play a huge impact in shaping or changing the sense of society. Hilter, on the other end of the
spectrum, has race as the key concept within his ideology and morals. With that being said, fascism is
not always equivalent to racism. Like most subjects of controversy, there is a spectrum of extremity.
Within fascism, Hilter s explicitly racist views is the most extreme strand of fascism but with that
being said, it is possible for the two to not be connected, and the biggest example of this is within the
movie Starship Troopers where racism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Taking a Look at Validation Models
Schemas are important validation tools which can ensure data is valid and well formed for use. There
are different varieties that can be used to verify a document and ensure conformance to standards.
Some use a tree hierarchy and others just simple constructs. Lee and Chu (2000) note the following in
their paper; DTD, XSD, SOX, Schematron and DSD. Fawcett et al (2012) mention Schematron, DTD,
RELAX NG, and XSD. I will discuss some of these in comparison to DTD and XSD which are follow
ons from this week s Schema discussions.
DTD
This Schema type on uses attributes and elements and follows a hierarchy in structure type. It is very
simplistic and uses few attribute definitions, and does not follow XML type syntax. However, despite
its simplistic nature, it is the most widely used standard according to Lee and Chu (2000).
XSD
The true XML Schema Definition is very different from DTD in that it can be very granular in its
descriptive elements and follows XML syntax rules. This can make it very powerful, in its support of
namespaces and true data types, allowing for better conformity and use in data transformation and
query. Another strength of XML Schema is it inheritance, which can simplify some reuse of attributes
and combining of Schema documents. Its weakness goes hand in hand with its strength as the
complexity it allows for causes confusion by all but the most advanced users according to Fawcett et
al (2012).

The Effects Of Slavery On American South And Its Entire...
Between 1800 and 1865, slaves lived in the Southern States and worked in the tobacco, wheat, rice,
corn and cotton plantations. Essentially, slavery was an economic institution with far reaching benefits
to slaveholders, since the value of slave labor was considerably more than the cost of their
maintenance. Demands for democratization, respect for human dignity and American Civil War
presented a major turning point in the institution of slavery as farmers turned to lesser labor intensive
production methods such as the use of Eli Whitney s Cotton Gin. This paper analyzes different ways
in which institution of Slavery affected the development of American South between 1800 1865, and
the lives of people living in the region. In doing so the paper considers economic, political, social and
cultural implications of the institution.
Although slaves and slaveholders were significantly different, the Institution of Slavery negatively
impacted the American South and its entire population.
Economic Effects Prevalence of a less diversified southern economic approach was a condition that
negatively impacted the economic progress. With cheap labor from slaves, the South prevalently
practiced agriculture at the expense of market economies. While significant in farming, slave labor
made farmers more complacent in agricultural production. The situation inevitably led to reluctance in
establishing sustainable trade networks with other States in the North. As Wright (2006)

Essay on Ethics of Earnings Management
I enjoyed the conversation on GAAP and earnings management relating to the case Be Careful What
You Wish For: From the Middle . The conversation was brief, but got me thinking on the ethics of
earnings management. GAAP accounting is to reflect in good faith the company s actual financial
status and present reality as is. It is not to present a manipulated set of numbers that paint a pretty
picture. GAAP requires recording of revenue when there is persuasive evidence of an arrangement,
assurance of collectability, a fixed or determinable price, and delivery. If Sarah recognizes revenue
before delivery, she would violate GAAP and partake in channel stuffing. It would not be earnings
management. In my opinion, there is a fine line ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

deceive, I believe earnings management is unethical. The case Is This My Place?...Speaking UP has

I know it is wrong for donors to inflate the value of their donations, but I would be afraid to say
anything out of fear they might stop donating to the organization. Knowing my manager was aware of
the overstated donations and did not care would make matters worse. Unless I had a clear plan to
present to him, I would remain quiet. If donations stopped, individuals in need of medical supplies
would suffer. In weighing the options, I see the pros and cons of each side. By letting donors continue
to overstate donation amounts, donors remain happy, the organization continues to receive donations,
and those in need benefit. On the other hand, if someone does not put a stop to the overstatements,
they could continue indefinitely and grow bigger over time. Additionally, if the IRS were to find out,

Photography And The Invention Of Photography
Approaching the turn of the twentieth century, photography was used mainly scientifically, to gather
data and make observations. Aside from some independent portrait work, the camera was not
considered a highly artistic instrument. Cameras were barely given a second look in aristocratic
artistic circles. The idea that photography could not be art met challenges in Britain by the Pictorial
movement, the vision of photography similar in subject to impressionist paintings that aimed to make
viewers emotional. This movement took a heavy foothold at a time when cameras were just entering
the consumer market; later making it s way across the pond to America. It is evident when comparing
the work of Gertrude Kasebier, who photographed in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand Edward Weston transformed simple objects like shells, leaves, and rocks with
heavy shadows and sharp contrast, making intriguing interest (Szarkowski). Both wall worthy artists
became so effective at making attractive photographs, they earned inspiring expositions at notable
institutions. They helped spur the interest of the general public to view photographs as art and the
camera as an instrument of pleasure rather than one of work. The look of a photograph during the time
was different than anything that came before, and their styles show even in today s photographs.
Especially the work of Weston does not appear outdated . It complements modern tastes as well.
Separating Pictorialist Photography for other photographic forms is its emphasis on emotion. A point
was made so audiences would feel connected to the still frames. If a painting could make a old woman
reflect on the happy times in her life or bring out despair in a man who had lost a child, why couldn t a
photograph do the same? To accomplish this, Käsebier pioneered women and domestic urban
situations to evoke emotions in a wide range from lust and pleasure to frustration and disgust, a
particularly marveling feat ( Gertrude Käsebier ). Later, Weston used increasingly abstract scenes,
frequenting landscapes to paint emotions (Szarkowski). The fact that

New England Church Case Study
Dear Elders of the Highland church of Christ,
I hope you are all well and thriving continuously in the Lord. As you may know, my wife and I are
planning to move to London, England this winter, Lord willing before the summer to work with the
Stratford church of Christ. We are excited and are grateful for all the encouragement and prayers that
have been lifted in His Name for this work and our success in fulfilling the Great Commission. We
also thank God for the Highland congregation in your example of servitude and love for Christ and
lost souls.

We desire this so that we may together model ourselves after Jesus and His Kingdom.
Secondly, we want to help grow and nurture Stratford to be an encouragement and blessing to not just
congregations in London but also to congregations throughout England, the United Kingdom, and
abroad.
Thirdly, we plan to engage in the outreach of this populated and diverse section of London through
one on one and group discussions and studies of Christ and His Word, developing a strong presence,
relationship, and service in the community, and by showing the city of London the beacon of light the
Stratford congregation is and can continue to be.
The Stratford congregation is a congregation of passionate Christians who have a desire to fulfill the
work of the kingdom, and they desire for us to labor with them in a full time capacity. A work of this
magnitude in a city ranked in the top 30 most populated cities in the World would require for someone
to help them on a full time basis. In order for my wife and I to move to London and begin this work
full time, we need to raise living expenses for this commitment of about $1800 US dollars per month.
The Stratford congregation is going to be able to support us with £500 a week, which is roughly $633
USD. Their generous help will allow us to pay rent, utilities, and transportation. The eventual goal of
the congregation financially is to be completely self supporting in the future. Until that time, we will
need stateside help financially with living

Healthcare Quality Analysis
Measuring the quality that a healthcare facility gives is of most importance for the individuals that are
serviced. Analytically healthcare facilities deal with many adverse limitations when it comes to
meeting or exceeding the needs of its constituents. In the process of healthcare there are
approximately four different methods that are used to assess the quality of a healthcare organization
and they are structure, process, outcome and patient experience. Each one serves a different purpose
within the structure of a healthcare organization below I will give a brief overview of each one, but the
two main ones that this article will focus on will be structure and process.

Taking symbiosis into action, when two species works together and have an influence on each other
that could lead to morphological, molecular changes. This is when speciation is seen in a different
light, and a solid proof of why organisms cannot be fixed. Bacteria has the ability to alter the gene loci
creating a reproductive barrier, the genetic changes leads to negative epistasis change, making the

The nature of God and belief Essays
a) Christians believe many different things about God s nature; due to the huge spectrum of Christians
that there are. However, as a general rule they perceive God as being one of the following four things:
Personal where God is represented as a human being. Christians believe this because it means they can
directly relate to Him through one to one means. There are variations within this also: Some say that
this Personal God is one human being that is always there for everyone, others believe that He is a
different being for each person.
Impersonal an Impersonal view of God s perception is that God is some form of spirit or force, not

Another way in which Christians are respectful to their holy book in everyday life is by following the
teachings that the Bible contains, practically a second law of how they should live (the political law
being the first).
Christians may also see a completely new dimension to the Bible; as a source of information. People
aren t truly Christians unless they believe in the faith for themselves and before they can do this, they
need to understand the faith they can find this out from the Bible.
Most believe that although a human wrote it, that the Bible is the words of God, and they therefore
must pay it the utmost respect. They see it as very special, and of more importance than any other
book.
The Bible is actively used in daily life as an ultimate symbol of power and importance, it is read from
at special occasions including weddings and funerals and in courts of law people must swear on the
Bible to tell the truth. This shows that the Bible is widely respected by Christians in daily life and by
non believers in certain ways too.
c) On the face of it; I would disagree that there is no evidence that God exists . My initial thoughts are
that there is evidence, in the form of millions of believers, history, scriptures and the overall legacy.
However, I believe it depends on what is meant by evidence : If it means something that proves that
God exists then the answer is an emphatic no, but if it is asking if there is anything to suggest

National Environmental Policy Act ( Nepa )
In the United States, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) was enacted on January 1, 1970 and
Environmental Protection Agency began operation December 2, 1970. In many developed countries,
since 1960s growing awareness about the side effects of unrestricted development and
industrialisation had pressured policy makers to establish environmental policies and agencies. During
that period, the policies were designed to focus on prompt and remedial action plans rather than
prevention tools. As a result, Command and Control (CAC) approach became the dominant tool which
is comprised of setting environmental standards (command) and penalising non complied actions
(control).
The experience with CAC during 70s and 80s suggests that the regulatory policies in practice cost far
greater than expected. Since CAC has been introduced by many countries, economists focused on the
economic evaluation of the approach in terms of its efficiency and cost effectiveness. Some studies
suggest that the environmental standards mandated by governments are hard to be set at an efficient
level because of legislative constraints, imperfect information, regional differences and non uniformity
of pollutants. Another issue with CAC is associated with enforcement problems such as costs of
monitoring and administration.
For the reasons mentioned above, new approach has been recommended by many economists. The
new policy is called Economic Instrument (EI) which provides incentives to companies or

Essay on The Development of Photography and Film
Art critic Robert Hughes once said, People inscribe their histories, beliefs, attitudes, desires and
dreams in the images they make. When discussing the mediums of photography and cinema, this
belief of Hughes is not very hard to process and understand. Images, whether they be still or moving,
can transform their audiences to places they have either never been before or which they long to return
to. Images have been transporting audiences for centuries thanks to both the mediums of photography
and cinema and together they gone through many changes and developments. When careful
consideration is given to these two mediums, it is acceptable to say that they will forever be
intertwined, and that they have been interrelated forms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also holds true to the field of cinema and film.
In the world we live in today, anyone can pick up a handheld video camera and record their son s
soccer game or daughter s school play, but to really capture the beauty of an event takes true talent. It
takes the expertise of a cinematographer or director of photography as they are also known, to capture
the true essence of an event and scene. Thomas Edison even once said, By faithfully reproducing and
kind or type of movement, it [cinematography] constitutes man s most astonishing victory to date over
forgetfulness. It retains and restores the things memory alone can t recover, not to mention its
auxiliary agencies: the written page, drawing photography. ... Like them, cinematography prevents the
things of yesterday that are useful to tomorrow s progress from sinking into oblivion; amongst these
one must count moving things, which only a few years ago were considered impossible to fix in an
image (Neale, 54). A picture, whether it be a photographed image or a filmed image is nothing when it
has not been looked at with the proper eyes. When expressed through the proper lens and eye an
image can really be worth a thousand words.
So the year was 1894 and the city was none other than New York City. It was then when the public
caught the first glance of Thomas Edison s Kinetoscope at work. With this invention, pictures were
projected in

How Did Diana Change The World
Many of her charities came together and opened a Centre in India in her honor. After her death, in
1999, The Diana Princess of Wales Health Education and Media Centre opened in India. The purpose
of establishing the Centre was to promote Leprosy victims rights in India. After her death, the charities
she worked closely with, grieved for the loss of their global spokeswoman and publicity. Many of the
charities do not get as much media coverage as they did when Diana was alive. With her help, Diana
showed people all over the world the type of work she was doing. Without her voice the world was in
the dark about important work charities are doing in the world. Now the slack of Diana s work has
been picked up by her two sons, William and Harry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She accomplished so much in her shortened lifetime. Many people all over the world wished to be in
Diana s shoes and often others tried, but they were simply too big to fill. No one else had the drive and
desire Diana did to save the world. A young patient once described Diana as, the friend who always
left us smiling (Wood 31). Her sons, William and Harry, do a lot to follow in their mother s footsteps
and they instill good through the sick and needy every day. Even William s wife, Catherine Middleton,
feels the pressures of the media and everyone that was close to Diana. Catherine feels the need to
fulfill her shoes because she sees her mother in law as a great person who should still needs to be
honored every day. Diana lived a very glamorous lifestyle, meeting new and exciting people
everywhere she went. She had the chance to become very good friends with Mother Teresa and Elton
John. She also g had the pleasure of meeting President Ronald Regan and the First Lady of the United
States of America. Diana also had the honor of dancing with John Travolta at the White House. He
describes his experience as, For fifteen minutes, she made me feel like a prince. It was absolutely
magical (Wood 28). Her legacy lives on through her family and the people that knew her well. Many
organizations, buildings and people have been named after her such as, her granddaughter Princess
Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge.

Korean Culture Report Essay
KOREAN CULTURE REPORT HUMOR
I was the funny guy in my clique of high school friends. Ever since I learned to read English, I
enjoyed reading and collecting joke books. I exhausted every single joke book from the small
community library in town. Riddles, jokes about animals and wildlife, reasons why I didn t do my
homework, lawyer jokes, and later on, ethnic jokes. I knew they were funny, but I wanted more.
Perhaps it was my lack of physical achievements that made me obsess with a need to entertain my
peers.
My return to Korea in the summer of 2001 was nothing short of a culture shock. I was in a country I
thought I had learned by heart. It was the country I always rooted my identity and pride from. I wasn t
ready for the shock. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Talchum is a type of Korean dance performed with a mask, miming, speaking, and singing. It is
loosely choreographed in the traditional sense of a dance, and organized more towards theatre. It was a
farcical caricature of its contemporary era, with a sick twist of vicarious humor, from its very roots
traced back to the era of ancient Three Kingdoms of Korea (37 BC 668 AD). The leading appeal of
Talchum has always been the biting satire and vicarious ridicule it pointed at apostate Buddhist
monks, decadent upper classmen, and incompetent shamans. It is interesting to note that the
aggressive nose thumbing was towards the upper class, religious leaders, and generally figures higher
in the social rung.
The farcical, burlesque aspects of Talchum as our cultural heritage did not translate very well into
modern culture in Korea, but the satire of authority figures did. For example, watch Infinite Challenge,
a highly successful Korean television entertainment program (highest non drama viewership since
November 2006). Six members appear regularly on the show, each member revolving around a certain
archetype. Yoo Jae suk, the leader. Park Myeong su the elder brother and entrepreneur. Jeong Jun Ha

Islamic Schism Research Paper
The major cause of the schism between the Islamic sects the Sunni and Shia has created a continuous
state of conflict between Ali the adopted son of Muhammad and the youngest, most cherished, and
trusted, and yet, the most deceitful, and vengeful wife of Muhammad, Aisha. The hostilities between
Ali and Aisha were never more obvious than after the Affair of the Necklace. When Ali and others,
had misjudged Aisha and accused her of having a clandestine affair with a Medinan warrior. Aisha had
left the desert caravan that was traveling to Medina to retrieve her favorite necklace. No one had
noticed her absence and upon her return from collecting the necklace the caravan had continued its
journey Medina, leaving Aisha alone in the desert. Aisha ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

School Librarians Case Study
One of the new AASL Shared Foundations: Engage (2017) is that librarians implement organizational
policies and practices related to censorship, materials challenges, library records, and responsible use
of information resources (Shared Foundations Engage sect. para. 4). Subsequently, librarians
demonstrate their leadership capabilities through implementing and disseminating information to their
school on guidelines for students use of digital tools and library resources. Furthermore, librarians
have a critical role in ensuring that their school is complying with the Children s Internet Protection
Act. Moreover, school librarians are also responsible for ensuring that all students have equitable
access to diverse materials. Ultimately, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as a school librarian, I also need to create policies that do not restrict students right to access
information from a variety of perspectives. Safeguarding and promoting students right to access
information on diverse and controversial subjects is also another component of my future policy for
students use of the Internet. Accordingly, I will need to verify that the blocking software that the
school uses is not blocking information specifically due to its controversial nature such as LGBTQ
issues, or contentious political viewpoints. The American Library Association asserts (2012),
Anything that restricts access to information based on viewpoint or content violates the First
Amendment (p. 23). Consequently, a critical component of my future role as a school librarian will be
verifying that the filtering software and the acceptable use policy of my school are not infringing upon
the students right to access information from a variety of viewpoints.
The digital divide has a pervasive and negative effect on students from lower socioeconomic
backgrounds. Subsequently, the policies and practices that I implement in the school library should
help alleviate the deleterious effects caused by students lack of access to digital resources.
Furthermore, by simply extending the hours that the school library is open, I can provide students with
greater access to assorted digital resources as well as Internet access. Equitable

Advertising During The Cold War
During the era after World War 2 ended and before the Cold War began, advertising started to become
increasingly popular. Companies would use ads to persuade the consumer into buying various goods
or services that were being advertised. These propaganda agencies used a you should buy it to fix your
problem mentality. The ads in today s society target certain age groups with a variety of aspects that
might interest them into buying a product because they, the consumer, want to fit in and be a part of
something.
Before Marlboro Man, there was Marlboro Woman that was used to target only the female audience.
This ad, however, was not targeted towards men because the cigarettes were considered feminine at
the time. In 1957 Marlboro created

William Lyon Mackenzie King In Canada During The 1930 s
During the 1930s there were only 2 main political figures for Canada and those 2 figures were William
Lyon Mackenzie King the grandson of William Lyon Mackenzie and the second leader being R.B
Bennett a powerful business man during the 1920s. Both very distinguished leaders had their own
ideas for Canada but which one of these men handled the position better? During the 20s William
Lyon Mackenzie King was in power and he did quite a good job with his policies to help the farmers
after the first world war and many other policies that he instated during the time. The trouble began
when the 1930s hit. This time is commonly referred to as the great depression or the stock market
crash in the USA. I strongly believe that because of his policies, ... Show more content on

This led to him losing the election in 1930 and getting R.B Bennett elected. During the year of 1935
King finally realized that the depression wasn t just going to go over easily. He instated the policy of
Freer Trade with the USA very quickly after being voted back into office in 1935. This policy fixed
the barriers for the tariffs that were put into place by R.B Bennett during his time in office whilst the
great depression had just gotten into motion. King also created the National Employment Commission
which was created to fix the unemployment rates in Canada and to create new jobs for unemployed
Canadians. Though ineffective it was a good idea because it led to the increased budget in 1938 from
20 Million to 25 Million dollars for relief from the depression. In addition to the increased budget the
government also offered loans to municipalities which led to the National Housing Act which allowed
the reconstruction of houses within Canada. Bennetts policies were referred to as Reform and Relief
Policies. His first plan to solve the depression was to give $20 million towards relief for the winter of
1930. You may not think that this was a lot of money but during the time the budget for the
government was $500

Wag s Press Release
I looked at four press releases for four different organizations in the city: Winnipeg Police Services,
the WHRA, the WAG and the Assiniboine Park Conservatory. I chose these press releases because
they are all from fairly different organizations, and yet use similar elements that make them examples
of strong press releases. The elements these releases share are providing contact information for
further inquiries, inclusion of release date, answering the who, what where, why and how early on in
the releases. However, some of these releases may have done better in terms of these elements, than
others. The first element is providing contact information, which all four press releases did to varying
degrees. The Winnipeg Police Service s press release, Male Shot is one of two posted for that date. As
a result of the way they have their website set up all releases for a date are on the same ... Show more

In the case of the Winnipeg Police Service s release, it is very short. A police press release is meant to
state the facts, therefore it is not surprising that it is short and states the main points, and gives very
little additional information. The other press releases are quite a bit longer. The WAG s press release is
about 10 paragraphs, the WHRA s is 8, and the Assiniboine Park Conservatory s is 9. As the other
press releases are longer, it makes it more likely that the reader will only skim read them. Therefore, it
is important that these important questions are answered early on.
The WAG s press release immediately goes into the when, where, what, why and how of the
exhibition. They then use later paragraphs to talk about other features, such as guided tours and a kid s
activity scheduled to complement the exhibition theme. The Assiniboine Park Conservatory s release
also does this in regard to the subject, the gifted

Plagiarism In Canada
In Canadian universities, the problem of plagiarism is very extensive and must be dealt with
accordingly. However, many students commit plagiarism without even realizing it. As someone
described the act of plagiarism Ignorance is never an excuse. (as cited in Tietel, 2011, Nov 8).
Technological developments have made turning it in easier than ever, so each school has its own
policy for preventing plagiarism. To better understand the plagiarism, compare the strengths and
weaknesses of George Brown College and Seneca College s academic honesty. Despite having similar
definitions, each college has its own point of view concerning plagiarism. Once these similarities and
differences have been explained in detail, the strengths and weaknesses of each policy will be evident.
In regards to the definition of plagiarism, George Brown defined plagiarism as The act of taking credit
for someone else s work. , Seneca defined as Using someone else s work. . Moreover, both college
provide detailed examples. The main example of George Brown is ... Show more content on

The Ideologies Put Forth By Paulo Freire The ideologies put forth by Paulo Freire including liberation education, pedagogy of the oppressed, inequality and pedagogy of possibility gives educators hope. These are the educators who are dedicated to bring about positive change in education and by extension society. Freire s contribution to education through his research and theories resonates with Trinbagonian educators as it encompasses issues of slavery, colonialism, post colonialism social mobility and democracy. Furthermore, Freire s ontology is grounded in comprehensive philosophical underpinnings including that of John Dewey and Jean Piaget. Their contributions have shaped education internationally as well as locally. Thus, the authors critique of Freire s work in an attempt to restructure his theories is a worthwhile analysis and allows for self reflection, critical thinking and the assurance of hope, in that, if education does nothing else, it must inspire hope in reference to the school of pragmatism. Such an educational philosophy in the words to Giroux (2007), points to a future in which democratic practices create the conditions for each generation of youth to struggle anew to sustain the promise of a democracy that has no end point, but that must be continuously expanded into a world of new possibilities and opportunities for keeping justice and hope alive. A grid is unique in that it can be molded and changed to fit the specific needs and demands of each business. Grid is a type of parallel and distributed system that enable the sharing selection, and aggregation of geographically distributed autonomous resources dynamically at runtime depending on their availability, capability, performance, cost, and users quality of service requirements (gridcomputing.com). It is based on the idea of cooperation and being able to sharing information. It is different from the idea of the internet because instead of sending the information to others, it is all stored in one place together which is accessible. The grid allows the organization s users to share their information and the company s application with one another easily. No matter where the members are in a company they are able to access and use the information that other employees have on the grid. Comparative Essay On Who s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf Researching Edward Albee s scandalous play Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf (1962), my case study will focus on the adaptation from stage to film, outlining the issues faced with both the original artists and my own group as artists. This specific piece of work from playwright Edward Albee is arguably the best American play of the 1960s (Leff 1981, p. 453), which encouraged Warner Brothers to gain the screen rights and recreate it as a film starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. On Broadway, Albee s play had been critized for its lack of clarity (Leff 1981, p. 456) however, when creating the film adaptation, Ernest Lehman, Jack Warner and Mike Nichols faced other issues regarding the release of the movie due to it s profanity that would be subjected to the public, and ... The decision made to try and stay true to Albee s play revealed that it wasn t a straightforward task for the filmmakers as there were a process of seven major drafts written as Warner strove to give the work both a visual and verbal texture (Leff 1981, p. 453). Advantages Of Political Dynasty In The Philippines An Argumentative Essay About a Phillipine or Local Issue Topic: Political Dynasty Despite not being an economically rich state, Philippines is known for having people who deeply value their family members. Family oriented Filipinos give importance to even to their most distant relatives as long as they have the same blood running through their veins. In this practice also, Filipinos tend to seek advices from the elders of the family before making a huge decision. Thus, decisions are made not by one for himself but by a group for the entirety of the family. (Agoncillo, 2012, p.6) There is the saying that goes blood is thicker than water. This cycle goes on and on and the scope of the family s territory becomes wider and wider every election for the members can run on different places. This is often practiced by rich and influential families; families who have been political since their forefathers and have followed the tradition as well. • 6. Literary Analysis Of The Painted Bird Oyuki Paniagua Professor Brienza Larsen English 1B July 21 2017 Different It s hard to imagine having your entire family murdered as a young kid, living in a century where war attacks were in every corner. This was the life of the young boy in the story The Painted Bird. Although the author, Jerzy Kosinski, never confirmed the book as an autobiography, it was easy to feel the pain as if he experienced it himself. The Painted Bird is a heartfelt novel that gives us all a glimpse into the dark reality of our past. The author is able to walk us through what I believe was his life. We are lead through a series of trauma the young boy experienced. The boy shares the dark reality that anyone that is that vulnerable can be tortured, abused and killed by anyone, including family. The boy s tragic life is a testimony of how terrifying life was like during the world war. Nevertheless, it seems as though life was just a bit tougher for him because he was different. Life can be difficult for many people, but it is undeniable that being different can affect the way others view you. *Such life was Kosinskis, Being different than the people around him made him a target. Through the juxtaposition of childish innocence and the most brutal forms of fallen adult experience, such works sum up the universal trauma of war in a myth of unrivaled concentration and clarity. There are different varieties that can be used to verify a document and ensure conformance to standards. Some use a tree hierarchy and others just simple constructs. Lee and Chu (2000) note the following in their paper; DTD, XSD, SOX, Schematron and DSD. Fawcett et al (2012) mention Schematron, DTD, RELAX NG, and XSD. I will discuss some of these in comparison to DTD and XSD which are follow ons from this week s Schema discussions. DTD This Schema type on uses attributes and elements and follows a hierarchy in structure type. It is very simplistic and uses few attribute definitions, and does not follow XML type syntax. However, despite its simplistic nature, it is the most widely used standard according to Lee and Chu (2000). XSD The true XML Schema Definition is very different from DTD in that it can be very granular in its descriptive elements and follows XML syntax rules. This can make it very powerful, in its support of namespaces and true data types, allowing for better conformity and use in data transformation and query. Another strength of XML Schema is it inheritance, which can simplify some reuse of attributes and combining of Schema documents. Its weakness goes hand in hand with its strength as the complexity it allows for causes confusion by all but the most advanced users according to Fawcett et al (2012). • 9. The Effects Of Slavery On American South And Its Entire... Between 1800 and 1865, slaves lived in the Southern States and worked in the tobacco, wheat, rice, corn and cotton plantations. Essentially, slavery was an economic institution with far reaching benefits to slaveholders, since the value of slave labor was considerably more than the cost of their maintenance. Demands for democratization, respect for human dignity and American Civil War presented a major turning point in the institution of slavery as farmers turned to lesser labor intensive production methods such as the use of Eli Whitney s Cotton Gin. This paper analyzes different ways in which institution of Slavery affected the development of American South between 1800 1865, and the lives of people living in the region. In doing so the paper considers economic, political, social and cultural implications of the institution. Although slaves and slaveholders were significantly different, the Institution of Slavery negatively impacted the American South and its entire population. Economic Effects Prevalence of a less diversified southern economic approach was a condition that negatively impacted the economic progress. With cheap labor from slaves, the South prevalently practiced agriculture at the expense of market economies. While significant in farming, slave labor made farmers more complacent in agricultural production. The situation inevitably led to reluctance in establishing sustainable trade networks with other States in the North. As Wright (2006) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

National Environmental Policy Act ( Nepa ) In the United States, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) was enacted on January 1, 1970 and Environmental Protection Agency began operation December 2, 1970. In many developed countries, since 1960s growing awareness about the side effects of unrestricted development and industrialisation had pressured policy makers to establish environmental policies and agencies. During that period, the policies were designed to focus on prompt and remedial action plans rather than prevention tools. As a result, Command and Control (CAC) approach became the dominant tool which is comprised of setting environmental standards (command) and penalising non complied actions (control). The experience with CAC during 70s and 80s suggests that the regulatory policies in practice cost far greater than expected. Since CAC has been introduced by many countries, economists focused on the economic evaluation of the approach in terms of its efficiency and cost effectiveness. Some studies suggest that the environmental standards mandated by governments are hard to be set at an efficient level because of legislative constraints, imperfect information, regional differences and non uniformity of pollutants. Images have been transporting audiences for centuries thanks to both the mediums of photography and cinema and together they gone through many changes and developments. When careful consideration is given to these two mediums, it is acceptable to say that they will forever be intertwined, and that they have been interrelated forms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also holds true to the field of cinema and film. In the world we live in today, anyone can pick up a handheld video camera and record their son s soccer game or daughter s school play, but to really capture the beauty of an event takes true talent. It takes the expertise of a cinematographer or director of photography as they are also known, to capture the true essence of an event and scene. Thomas Edison even once said, By faithfully reproducing and kind or type of movement, it [cinematography] constitutes man s most astonishing victory to date over forgetfulness. It retains and restores the things memory alone can t recover, not to mention its auxiliary agencies: the written page, drawing photography. ... Like them, cinematography prevents the things of yesterday that are useful to tomorrow s progress from sinking into oblivion; amongst these one must count moving things, which only a few years ago were considered impossible to fix in an image (Neale, 54). A picture, whether it be a photographed image or a filmed image is nothing when it has not been looked at with the proper eyes. When expressed through the proper lens and eye an image can really be worth a thousand words. So the year was 1894 and the city was none other than New York City. It was then when the public caught the first glance of Thomas Edison s Kinetoscope at work. With this invention, pictures were projected in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ever since I learned to read English, I enjoyed reading and collecting joke books. I exhausted every single joke book from the small community library in town. Riddles, jokes about animals and wildlife, reasons why I didn t do my homework, lawyer jokes, and later on, ethnic jokes. I knew they were funny, but I wanted more. Perhaps it was my lack of physical achievements that made me obsess with a need to entertain my peers. My return to Korea in the summer of 2001 was nothing short of a culture shock. Talchum is a type of Korean dance performed with a mask, miming, speaking, and singing. It is loosely choreographed in the traditional sense of a dance, and organized more towards theatre. It was a farcical caricature of its contemporary era, with a sick twist of vicarious humor, from its very roots traced back to the era of ancient Three Kingdoms of Korea (37 BC 668 AD). The leading appeal of Talchum has always been the biting satire and vicarious ridicule it pointed at apostate Buddhist monks, decadent upper classmen, and incompetent shamans. It is interesting to note that the aggressive nose thumbing was towards the upper class, religious leaders, and generally figures higher in the social rung. The farcical, burlesque aspects of Talchum as our cultural heritage did not translate very well into modern culture in Korea, but the satire of authority figures did. This policy fixed the barriers for the tariffs that were put into place by R.B Bennett during his time in office whilst the great depression had just gotten into motion. King also created the National Employment Commission which was created to fix the unemployment rates in Canada and to create new jobs for unemployed Canadians. Though ineffective it was a good idea because it led to the increased budget in 1938 from 20 Million to 25 Million dollars for relief from the depression. In addition to the increased budget the government also offered loans to municipalities which led to the National Housing Act which allowed the reconstruction of houses within Canada. Bennetts policies were referred to as Reform and Relief Policies. His first plan to solve the depression was to give $20 million towards relief for the winter of 1930. I chose these press releases because they are all from fairly different organizations, and yet use similar elements that make them examples of strong press releases. The elements these releases share are providing contact information for further inquiries, inclusion of release date, answering the who, what where, why and how early on in the releases. However, some of these releases may have done better in terms of these elements, than others. The first element is providing contact information, which all four press releases did to varying degrees.
