of land, named Harrell Hammonds. Hammonds was a probate judge who raised cattle and grew

Normative ethics encompasses the study of moral standards that regulate right and wrong conduct.
British philosopher W.D. Ross emphasizes prima facie duties. Ross argues that our duties are part
of the fundamental nature of the universe. Ross claims his list of duties reflects our actual moral
convictions. They are 1) fidelity the duty to keep our promises, 2) reparation the duty to

When searching for the various breeds of cattle for the 2016 Houston Livestock Show and
Rodeo, I came crossed a couple different breeds from Herefords, and main Anjou, but then I
came crossed the Charolais. During my researching and talking to my FFA advisor I found out
that the Charolis can be an easy to handle and they adapt to a new environment pretty quick. I
chose to raise a Charolais because the excellent body structure and there beautiful Smokey

What indeed makes one a monster? Is it our physical appearance, our direct or indirect actions,
our secrets? In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley portrays Victor s creation as a monster but
throughout the novel we begin to realize the real monster is Victor, due to his self centered
personality, his abnormal view on life, and the abandonment of his creation to show us society s
perspective on what a monster is, is inaccurate because the social norm can be just as monstrous.

While thinking about goals in life, most people have the same thought. Most everyone wants to
get married, have a kid or two, great job and a beautiful house. With me being thirty now, my

Today, current events in the United States are mired with complex topics and simple answers.
Often times articles present information in biased ways, or make completely inaccurate
statements in order to emphasize an opinion. This often avoids addressing an issue with a serious
discussion of the empirical data and known information on the topic. One specific topic in which
data and studies are often presented carelessly or often misinterpreted is in the subject of IQ.
According to one of the authors of a controversial book The Bell Curve, Charles Murray says;

This paper is a response to Chapter Three: Some New Gods that Fail of Neil Postman s The End of
Education . This excerpt focuses on what Postman considers the dangerous faith of many in the
field of education to engage in idolatry of technology. He goes on to support his argument that
concludes that the improvements promised to us by technophiles working in educationare not
forthcoming and will likely make things worse. Postman writes in this chapter a critique of the
logical failings he observes in his contemporaries on how education should be improved. In

more stressed out than ever, according to the American Psychological Association (APA Survey).
However, it is what we do about this stress epidemic that will decide the future of today s students.
High schoolstudents need a break during the school day, to decrease stress, improve cognitive
function, and improve the overall mental health of students. It may not be well known, but high
school students are under copious amounts of stress. With extensive workloads, difficult classes,
and extracurriculars, today s students are encumbered. Some students handle it better than others,
but stress can be very debilitating for anyone. An NYU study says there is growing awareness
that many subgroups of youth experience high levels of chronic stress, to the extent that it
impedes their abilities to succeed academically, compromises their mental health functioning, and

determinants for this case. Food banks are initially started to help those in need, but
I believe that federal and provincial governments should furthermore improve economic growth to

Characters In The Film Gladiator
Hollywood has been making historical films for ages, trying to succeed in a film where no one can
complain about historical accuracies. Unfortunately in the 200 film Gladiator director Ridley Scott
did not succeed. The film Gladiator may have had some accurate points but for the most part was
not faithful to Roman history. With the poor representations of Marcus Aurelius, Commodusand
creating an entirely new character as well as how the gladiatorial events in the movie didn t fully
show how intricate and important gladiators really were. Finally the movie didn t showcase the
proper attire and armour that real gladiators would wear.
In a historical film it is important to get the portrayal of significant people done well. In the film
Gladiator the three main characters where not portrayed correctly Maximus, Marcus and
Commodus. In the film Marcus Aurelius was shown to be a cold father to his son. He was
someone who wanted to rebuild the republic and change Rome back into a democracy and take
it out of a dictatorship. This shows inaccuracies because Marcus Aurelius was a man that had
raised his to be the next emperor of Rome. He made sure his son was on the battlefield and
understood the ways of the senate so he would be prepared to take over when it was time. (

My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun... is a sonnet written by William Shakespeare and is
also known as Sonnet 130. He wrote this poem to mock the conventional Petrarchan love sonnets
which are about women who have unattainable beauty. This poem is written in the
Shakespearean sonnet format which consists of a total 14 lines with the first 12 lines divided
into three quatrains, and the last two lines make up a couplet. The quatrains establish the motif
or problem of the poem while the ending couplet explains or resolves the previous lines. Sonnet
130 is a long conceit where the speaker of the poem goes through a long list of comparisons that
seem like insults. The speaker uses juxtaposition to show that his love for his mistress is strong
by describing her in a blunt way that seems insulting on the surface, but he reveals in the end he
loves her even though she is flawed. In the first quatrain of My mistress eyes are nothing like the
sun... , the speaker is already showing that this is not an ordinary love poem. He says, my
mistress eyes are nothing like the sun (line 1). This metaphor depicts that the woman does not
have bright eyes. Most poets would use a clichГ© to describe a woman s eyes as bright or like
sapphires, but the speaker is saying there is nothing special about her eyes. Next, the speaker
describes the woman s lips. The color coral is slightly orange, but he believes coral is more red
than her lips. Also, most poets would describe their subjects to have bright, shiny red lips (2). In
these two lines, the speaker compares his mistress to things found in nature, and many people
associate beauty with nature. However, that is not the case with this poem. He describes her as
the complete opposite. In line 3, the woman s skin is described as gray which makes it seem like
her skin is dull. In Shakespeare s time, pale skin was more desirable, and since she does not have
a pale complexion, it would make her less attractive. The speaker then compares her hair to wire
in this line: If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head (4). A beautiful woman is usually
described as having silky locks. That is the opposite in this poem. This comparison depicts the
woman to have hair that lacks

This article discusses the foundations of the modern human resources department and covers the
three historical periods of development to where modern human resources has evolved. There are
three main historical periods that are discussed including pre industrial, bureaucratic, and high
performance. All three of these periods have played a vital role in the field of Human Resources.
The pre industrial period ended with the revolutionary war. This time period saw a lack of human
resource managementdue to inequality, inflexibility and misalignment that would be unimaginable

During this period there was growth in support for free market ideology and a balance begin in
managerial structuring.
This article is an interview with a single person Human Resource Manager and the purpose is to
highlight the relationship between a person s professional brand and what affect the position can
have on a person s whole life and the Human Resources has played in it. The article utilizes the
seven images of self identity theory from Alvesson (2010) and hopes to show how a person deals
with the stresses of career/life balance and how constant changes effect both. The author used this
structure to look at the interpretation of the subject s life through each of these seven images. The
author utilizes in depth interviews with the subject Betty, a 30 year old married human resources
professional with no children that works in the technology industry, to map the self identity of the
subject and how they struggle to find themselves both personally and professionally. The article
discusses the feelings that Betty experiences and the difficulties she has to establish her personal
and professional self and the challenges that exist as she continues to deal with the stresses and
self doubt associated with her professional life. The author also theorizes that Betty, as a part of
the working middle class, has certain ideals and looks to find a balance
