Mrs. Harris:
MR Pierschbacher spoke to Deon about looking into T-shirts from NutriShop for 8th grade basketball
night. All shirts would be pre-ordered. His mission is to increase spirit and attendance at the Richview/
Rossview aka Battle of the Blvd basketball game. Perhaps introduce a “Spirit Stick” . Order forms will be
sent out on the 6th of Jan. 2015 and due on Friday the 9th. He is also thinking about selling ½ price tickets at
the game. Deon will email the board information after speaking to NutriShop. Shirts usually sell for $10 at
the game and $8 when pre-ordered. NutriShop benefits by setting up a table and offering free samples for
students 13 and older to increase consumer awareness.
Next PTO meeting: January 13, 2015
Jennifer Johnson:
What days are scheduled for City Saver CMCSS wide fundraiser? January 16 – February 16. The school
will need volunteers to assist with distribution.
New Business: Deon
Deon spoke to Richard last week and he hasn’t been able to meet up with Norm yet. Once he does, he says
he will contact me.
Chipotle Family fundraiser night will be this Wednesday, December 10th from 5-9pm/. Chipotle is making
this up to us by allowing us to schedule a night in December. Lori has put the flyers in the teachers’ mail
boxes on 11/8/14. Mrs Harris has been emailed to share with teachers.
2. Deon needs to get working with Coca Cola to ask for recycling bins for free or minimal amount. Grant
opens up in January.
Voted to fund cookie decorating supplies (cookies, icing, and sprinkles) for a student reward day station on
December 19th. The amount is not to exceed $75-80. This expense will be accounted for through the
teacher’s wish list budget item.
Spoke to Deputy Smith regarding elementary school holiday parties next Thursday at 1:45pm and the
possible impact on the traffic for the middle school dismissal. We don’t want a repeat of the first day of
school.
Assistance has been requested of the PTO to assist with the teacher’s luncheon on Thursday, December
18th. We have been asked to help with setup and cleanup and we are asking our middle school parents to
provide beverages and salads if possible. The PTO board will provide desserts for Friday, December 19th.

Parent Question of the month November?
October ?:Are schools adequately staffed to meet the system's mission and vision? If not, what are your
concerns? Dialogue: Discussed as a group and Elaine will report our concerns at the meeting next month.
Some concerns include student/teacher ratio, the need for more teachers and resources, etc. Elaine is also
going to explore the purpose of these questions each month and what the school system does with the
information that she reports to them regarding these questions.

Fundraising: Lori Rippy
Lori/Deon are going to check with Moe’s as a new restaurant fundraising source. Mike is the Manager at
Moe’s. They offer 10 or 15%. He is not sure. We would have to go into the store to fill out paper work.
Fundraiser nights can only be on Sun. Mon. Tues. and maybe Thursday night. Since he and the store are
new, he isn’t very familiar with any of this. We are going to try to add this for the spring.
Deon suggests looking into Krispy Kreme and do a pre-order fundraiser sale. Possibly hand out pre-ordered
dozen(s) of donuts at car rider in the am or after school. Perhaps see if Starbucks will donate coffee to hand
out to our car riders in the morning? Lori will check further into this fundraiser.
Box top/campbell labels: Amy
Collection Dates: Oct 23, Nov 20, Dec 18, Jan 22, Feb 26, March 26, April 23.
Campbells Labels amount = 5507 points.
Coke Rewards total = 24359 from 23239. At 26000 points we can receive a 32" LED HD TV that would
look lovely in the front office (which, by the way, the elementary and high school have one in their main
offices). Ex. overhead projector = 10,100 points. The television should be our goal for the school.
Box Tops amount thus far = $571.40; Boxtops now offers VISA pre-paid cards as a reward. LFE2225 =
2,500 points = $25; LFE0100 = 9,000 points = $100; LFE0050 = 4,800 points = $50; LFE0250 = 22,000
points = $250
Question: Amy is the collection box still in the teachers lunch room? Yes. It is placed on the counter on
the collection days. We would love to encourage them to leave their coke rewards caps in the box for us to
collect

Clubs Coordinator: Holly
The last day for the 1st semester clubs will be December 11th.
Jamie Best and Jenette Spurbeck are the Clubs Coordinator. Please email them to find out when the next
semester clubs sign up will take place and if any club changes have been made. Clubs begin again on
January 12th.
Computer Funding Presentation: Chris Hambrick
Mr. Hambrick is trying to raise about $23,000 in order to update the computers in our second computer
literacy lab. The school currently has Dell Optiplex computers in this particular lab. The school system is
phasing out these computers and will no longer support them regarding hardware issues. They are very
slow and don’t support his classroom technology needs very well.
Mr. Hambrick is requesting the PTO’s support in setting up the non-profit fundraising accounts with
Amazon Smiles, Kroger, and Publix. We will advertise these new opportunities to the school families
through PTO.
Who was going to look into Kroger and Publix? Mr. Hambrick
Deon registered our organization on Amazon Smiles. http://smile.amazon.com/ch/04-3844122. Amazon
will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to Middle School Hawks PTO
whenever you shop on AmazonSmile. AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know. Same products, same
prices, same service. Support your charitable organization by starting your shopping at
smile.amazon.com.
Mr. Hambrick and Deon are going to check with some people in Purchasing and IT to find out what is
being planned for technology in the schools in the near future. (Deon emailed, waiting on response from
Mr. Hambrick.)
