Military Connections Club
Sponsor: Kelly Wells (Kelly.wells@cmcss.net)
Military Connections Club will provide military connected students with a safe environment to discuss
challenges inherent to the deployment cycle (pre-deployment, deployment, reintegration) and frequent
transitions of military life such as PCS’s and TDY situations.
Military children face unique challenges that are specific to military life and best understood and
supported by those that are specially trained in the intricacies of this lifestyle. Our MFLAC, Carrie White,
offers a unique set of skills for assisting our military children in facing challenges with resilience and a
positive outlook. Kelly Wells holds a certification from the University of Pennsylvania in Resilience
Training for military families. Together, we hope to create a group where children can openly share and
learn skills that facilitate academic and social success while managing the challenges of military life. We
hope that creating this community will also lead to peer to peer mentoring as students who have faced
particular challenges successfully can help those who are new to the challenge.
