The PTA newsletter outlines upcoming events and changes to the PTA. The AGM was held where a new committee was elected and it was proposed that the PTA become more inclusive by changing its name to "Friends of Pennard Primary." Upcoming events include a book fair, EGM meeting, Halloween disco and pumpkin competition, and Christmas craft day and shopping evening. The newsletter provides details on these events and encourages parents to get involved with the PTA.
What are your finest memories of your child hood? What you really loved? How you spent the time with your parents and grandparents. How much you enjoyed when you parents and grandparents told you same stories or tales. So your children also deserve this feeling of sharing a nice story time with you. Children of all ages enjoy listening to stories and tales. One such event is going to be organized at Lawndale Library California.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

1. PTA NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents
The start of the new school year has seen some changes to the PTA and the
events and activities that we are planning. As always, the aim of the PTA is to
raise much needed additional funds and to support the school in any way we
can. The AGM was held in the school staff room on the 15th
of September and
the committee for this year was elected. It was proposed at this meeting that
the PTA become more accessible to the wider Pennard community in order to
utilise the time, skill and talents of past parents, grandparents or any members
of our community who would like to be involved in school fundraising events.
This aim would be reflected under our proposed new name ‘Friends of
Pennard Primary.’ The final decision will be taken at our EGM on Wednesday
October 19th
at 3.30pm in the school staff room. All are welcome to attend.
Forthcoming events…
October 17th
-20th
: Scholastic book fair week. Please speak to your class rep if
you are able to help in any way.
October 19th
: PTA EGM. Details as above.
October 21st
: Autumn/Halloween disco. Entry to the disco is £1 per child and
includes unlimited water/squash and a bag of crisps. BYOP! (Bring your own
pumpkin!) If your child would like to enter their carved jack o lantern in our
Halloween pumpkin competition, they can bring them to school in the morning
and we will display them in the hall during the disco, with prizes for the
best/spookiest/smiliest ones. Entries cost £1 per pumpkin.
November 15th
: PTA meeting at 7pm (venue TBC)
December 1st
: Christmas shopping evening. Come and join us in the school hall
from 7pm onwards for wine and canapes and a wide selection of stalls from
local artists, jewellers and craftspeople. This evening is open to the whole
community and is a great chance to socialise with your friends and neighbours
while getting ahead with your Christmas gift buying. There are still a few stalls
available- please speak to Emma Roberts if you are interested. Please note this
is an adults event.
2. December 15th
: Christmas craft day. Each class from nursery up to year six will
have time in the hall to make and create a unique craft item, and will receive a
visit from a special guest!
These are lovely keepsakes or make ideal gifts, and the children have a lovely
time making them. If you are able to lend a hand and are feeling crafty, please
speak to your class reps who will be helping out during the day. Cost: £2.50 per
child.
As you will notice, the events this term are slightly different to usual as we are
always working hard to maximise our efforts and create the best possible
experiences for the children. Don’t worry- Santa will still be visiting the
school…
The giving machine: You join for free and choose our cause (Pennard Primary)
to support. You generate commissions by shopping online (it works with over
1,500 retailers including Amazon, Play.com, John Lewis, eBay, Sainsbury’s and
Next). They convert your commissions into donations for the school. You’re
raising funds for free! Here is the link:
http://www.thegivingmachine.co.uk/giver/join/?pbid=56247
Facebook: There is an active page on facebook (search for parents of pennard
primary) where everyone is welcome to post school and community related
topics, questions, reminders, ideas etc.
If you are interested in helping at any of the events or would like to know more
about becoming involved with the PTA, please speak to your class rep or any
committee member. The funds we raise are vital for purchasing extra
equipment and resources for the children that the school budget cannot
stretch to. This year’s suggestions so far include a stove for the children’s
cookery, science equipment, shelters for the yard and outdoor learning areas,
play equipment for the yard, craft boxes in each classroom and sewing
machines. With your help, we can turn these suggestions into reality. Thank
you to everyone for your continued support.
