23. Industry Links and INTRA
The importance of work placements, whether these are in
Ireland or overseas, has never been more obvious in
dictating the growth and popularity of degree
programmes. I have no doubt that the reason we have
bucked the national trend for business degrees has been
because we offer work placements as an integral part of
all these programmes
Prof Brian MacCraith, DCU President
• In the current economic climate, it is vital that we prepare our graduates for the
workplace.
• Our relationships with industry, ensure that our students can avail of placements
with the leading lights of Irish industry.
• Many students return to their INTRA employers upon graduation.
Currently, I’m on my INTRA placement
with Electric Ireland. I’m loving every
second of it as I’m working on a wide
range of exciting projects which is
enabling me to extensively develop my
marketing skills and prepare me for full
time employment in the Marketing
industry once I graduate.

As part of their assessment this year, the students are developing an app promoting a region or city in Ireland for Tourism Ireland.
