Poverty is a complex issue that has always been around, but has been a growing concern over
time. Holding a debate on the issue of poverty, is one that can easily go awry due to it s
complexity and emotional aspects. In order to evaluate the debate, both teams need to fully
understand the proposal and clearly articulate their stance.
The debate teams need to be able to clearly explain their position, refute the opponent s argument,
provide solutions, provide a stimulating counter examination, and effectively answer questions
from the judges. Other logistical aspects of the debate that will be judged on is the ability to
efficiently use time and allocate it between team members, as well as refraining from interrupting
other debates and keeping an appropriate volume and demeanor.
There are various general questions that will be utilized in my evaluation of the debate. Did the
teams address what poverty is, how people become poor and remain poor, explain why it s the
individual or society s fault, why we haven t been able to dramatically keep poverty low, why

enjoyed many vampire movies over the years, long before they became the popular pop culture
genre they have become due to the success of The Twilight Saga films. One movie I have enjoyed
viewing many times since its debut in 1994 is Interview with the Vampire. This film is an
adaptation of the book Interview with the Vampire written by Anne Ricein 1973 and published in
1976. The movie was directed by Neil Jordan who also co wrote the script with Anne Rice.

isolation, though primarily inflicted by the community, was also inflicted by herself, and in her
isolation, Hester became an integral community member at the cost of her femininity and passion.
Hester is primarily isolated by her community as she is forced to wear the scarlet letter for the rest
of her life to separate her as an adulteress. This was common practice for colony members in
