The passage discusses Daniel's prophecy about the 70 weeks decreed for the Jewish people. It describes how there will be 7 weeks and 62 weeks until the coming of the Messiah. The Messiah will be rejected and killed after 62 weeks. Jerusalem and the temple will be destroyed after this. There will be one final 7 year period involving the Antichrist before Christ's ultimate return to conquer sin and death forever.
What temptations do you think Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego faced when they were brought before the king (13–15)? What impresses you most about their response to these temptations (16–18)? How could you follow their example if you were found to have terminal cancer? How could their example help if you faced the possibility of losing your job or receiving a poor grade because of your refusal to compromise God's Word?
Some Christians claim that pain or sickness or trial are always the result of sin or lack of faith. How would you respond to that claim in light of this passage? As you look at Nebuchadnezzar's response (13–15, 19–23), what evidence do you see that his basic conflict was with God rather than with these three men?

Comparison of Gospel Accounts of the Second Coming of Christ (LDS)Mike Fitzgerald
This document compares the accounts of the Second Coming of Christ given in Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, and Joseph Smith–Matthew 1. From the account in Joseph Smith–Matthew, it is evident that some events leading up to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. will be repeated in the latter days.

The Olivet Discourse: What Will Be the sign of your coming? (Part 2)David Turner
This is part two of a three part series on the Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24:29-35). This answers the disciple's question, What will be the sign of your coming?
While witnessing in a square a couple of weeks ago, I came across two Christian ladies who asked me how I am able to do what I was doing (witnessing in a hostile environment); as they found that environment not conducive to witness in. So I told them some practical things to do `before coming out there, like prayer and fasting (if they can); but MORE IMPORTANTLY I told them a story of an incidence the Lord used to impress in my heart the priceless significance of a good conscience: and need for us is to continually seek the Lord for a GOOD CONSCIENCE so as to have a USEFUL HEART
Veil Rent - The Significance For Us? Boldness to “enter in”
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh. (Hebrews 10:19-20)
Here we have the answer to the question we have always asked: “what do I need to do to go near to God”?
Answer being: Boldness to “enter in”
Yes, the Confidence, self-assurance, nerve, cheek, audaciousness to enter into the very presence of God without the fear of dying there; we can no more die there, since Jesus Christ has died in our place; made eternal life guaranteed for us. Our boldness is based on the perfection of His sacrifice of which He said:

Aside from the four main visions recorded in Daniel’s book, he makes additional prophecies that give more detailed accounts of what took place between the major events mentioned in the four initial visions.
What is unique about the "great tribulation" to the typical trials of life or the holocaust and other cataclysms and tribulations? When will it occur? Why? Is there hope? How should those who identify with Jesus as their Savior and Lord, and have His Spirit dwelling within them respond?
Many believe America is the greatest nation ever blessed by God, but few believe she ought to be mentioned in the Bible. The following argument should cause skeptics to believe otherwise, in that America has blessed Israel more than any nation in history. America is the mighty nation which won the two world wars that enabled the Jews to go back home, and then afterward stood as their only friend. Since every nation that affected ancient Israel had been mentioned in the Bible, and since God does not change in his ways, why would he not mention America in the end time prophecies of Daniel and Revelation? In truth, America ought to be shining in the Bible as brightly as a full moon rising on a cloudless night . . . and she does.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

earthly powers when we know the future?
3. Why do we tend to place our allegiance on
earthly powers when we know the future?
Jesus Christ came to put an end to sin
and will return to conquer death and
sin once and for all.
4. Daniel 9
20 Now while I was speaking and praying,
and confessing my sin and the sin of my
people Israel, and presenting my supplication
before the LORD my God in behalf of the holy
mountain of my God, [21] while I was still
speaking in prayer, then the man Gabriel,
whom I had seen in the vision previously,
came to me in my extreme weariness about
the time of the evening offering.
5. Daniel 9
22 He gave me instruction and talked with
me and said, “O Daniel, I have now come
forth to give you insight with understanding.
23 “At the beginning of your supplications
the command was issued, and I have come to
tell you, for you are highly esteemed; so give
heed to the message and gain understanding
of the vision.
6. Matthew 7:7,11
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek,
and you will find; knock, and it will be
opened to you. . . . If you then, being
evil, know how to give good gifts to
your children, how much more will your
Father who is in heaven give what is
good to those who ask Him!”
7. Daniel 9
24 “Seventy weeks have been decreed for your
people and your holy city, to finish the
transgression, to make an end of sin, to make
atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting
righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and
to anoint the most holy place.
25 So you are to know and discern that from the
issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild
Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be
seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built
again, with plaza and moat, even in times of
distress.
8. Daniel 926 Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will
be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the
prince who is to come will destroy the city and the
sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even
to the end there will be war; desolations are
determined.
27 And he will make a firm covenant with the
many for one week, but in the middle of the week
he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering;
and on the wing of abominations will come one
who makes desolate, even until a complete
destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on
the one who makes desolate.”
9. Symbolic View
- The “seventy sevens” represent three periods of
time ending in the first century A.D.
- The first period extends from Cyrus’ decree for
Jewish exiles to return until the time Ezra and
Nehemiah began rebuilding Jerusalem (around
440–400 B.C.)
- The second period stretches from around 400
B.C. until the coming of Jesus Christ
- The last seven years represent the period prior
to the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70
10. Literal View
- There are 490 years divided into 3 periods of
time: 49 years, 434 years, and 7 years
- The first period begins with the decree of Ezra to
rebuild Jerusalem and ends with the completion
of the work (around 400 B.C.)
- The second period begins at the end of the first
and concludes with the inauguration of Christ’s
kingdom (either his baptism or entrance into
Jerusalem on Palm Sunday)
11. Literal View
- The Messiah would be rejected by the people,
he would suffer alone on the cross
- Jerusalem would be destroyed by the Romans
- The third period would begin at a later date
when Anti-christ appears and establishes a final
government to overthrow Christ
- Tribulation will ensue and Anti-christ will make
an abomination of desolation half-way through
- After sevens years of tribulation, Christ will
return in glory, conquering Anti-christ
12. Daniel 9
24 “Seventy weeks have been decreed for
your people and your holy city, to finish the
transgression, to make an end of sin, to make
atonement for iniquity, to bring in
everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision
and prophecy and to anoint the most holy
place.
13. Daniel 9
25 So you are to know and discern that from
the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild
Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will
be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will
be built again, with plaza and moat, even in
times of distress.
14. Daniel 9
26 Then after the sixty-two weeks the
Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and
the people of the prince who is to come will
destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its
end will come with a flood; even to the end
there will be war; desolations are
determined.
15. Daniel 9
27 And he will make a firm covenant with the
many for one week, but in the middle of the
week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain
offering; and on the wing of abominations
will come one who makes desolate, even
until a complete destruction, one that is
decreed, is poured out on the one who
makes desolate.”
16. Matthew 24
15 “Therefore when you see the
ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was
spoken of through Daniel the prophet,
standing in the holy place (let the reader
understand), [16] then those who are in
Judea must flee to the mountains. . . . [22]
Unless those days had been cut short, no life
would have been saved; but for the sake of
the elect those days will be cut short.”
17. 29 “But immediately after the tribulation of those
days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE
MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS
WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the
heavens will be shaken. [30] And then the sign of
the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all
the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will
see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS
OF THE SKY with power and great glory. [31] And
He will send forth His angels with A GREAT
TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His
elect from the four winds, from one end of the
sky to the other.”
18. Why do we tend to place our allegiance on
earthly powers when we know the future?
Jesus Christ came to put an end to sin
and will return to conquer death and
sin once and for all.
