God the Master in Daniel
1. God the Master in Daniel
2Kgs 23:33-34
33) And Pharaohnechoh put him [Jehoahaz]
in
bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he
might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land
to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a
talent of gold.
34) And Pharaohnechoh made Eliakim the son
of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father,
and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took
Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died
there.
609 BC
Jehoahaz son of Josiah, king of Judah reigned
for three months in Jerusalem before being
deposed by Pharaoh Necho.
2. Pharaoh Necho installed Jehoahaz’s brother,
Eliakim (aka Jehoiakim) as king and deported
Jehoahaz in chains, where he later died in
Egypt.
2Kgs 23:35-36
35) And Jehoiakim the new puppet king
gave the
silver and the gold to Pharaoh Pharaoh Necho
; but
he taxed the land to give the money according
to the commandment of Pharaoh Pharaoh Necho
: he
exacted the silver and the gold of the people of
the land, of every one according to his taxation,
to give it unto Pharaohnechoh.
36) Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old
when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven
years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was
Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
In 605 BC Nebuchadnezzar, crown prince of
Babylon defeats Egypt at Carchemish and routs
3. the Egyptian army back to Egypt. As he passes
through Israel he lays siege to Jerusalem.
Jehoiakim, the puppet king of Egypt, changes
puppet masters for the power of Babylon.
Nebuchadnezzar continues his pursuit of the
Egyptian army into Egypt, but while there
receives news his father has died.
Back to Babylon he went to secure the throne.
His journey home leads him through Jerusalem,
and he takes Jehoiakim and many of the nobility
with him.
His plan was to convert the nobility by
brainwashing them in a 3yr. Babylonian
institute of higher education. Then return them
to Israel as an arm of Babylon.
4. Dan 1:1
1) In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim
king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.

Dan 1:8-9
8) But Daniel purposed in his heart that he
would not defile himself with the portion of the
king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank:
therefore he requested of the prince of the
eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
9) Now God had brought Daniel into favour
and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.

Dan 2:5 The king answered and said to the
Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye
will not make known unto me the dream, with
the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in
pieces, and your houses shall be made a
dunghill.
Dan 2:8-9 8 The king answered and said, I
know of certainty that ye would gain the time,
because ye see the thing is gone from me.
9 But if ye will not make known unto me the
dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye
have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak
before me, till the time be changed: therefore
tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can
shew me the interpretation thereof.
6. Dan 2:13 And the decree went forth that the
wise men should be slain; and they sought
Daniel and his fellows to be slain.
Dan 2:16 Then Daniel went in, and desired of
the king that he would give him time, and that
he would shew the king the interpretation.
Dan 2:19 Then was the secret revealed unto
Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed
the God of heaven.
Dan 2:20-21 20 Daniel answered and said,
Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever:
for wisdom and might are his:
21 And he changeth the times and the seasons:
he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he
giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to
them that know understanding:

Golden image
Dan 3:4-5 4 Then an herald cried aloud, To
you it is commanded, O people, nations, and
languages,
5 That at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer,
and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and
worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar
the king hath set up:
Dan 3:12 There are certain Jews whom thou
hast set over the affairs of the province of
Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego;
these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they
serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden
image which thou hast set up.
Dan 3:15 Now if ye be ready that at what time
ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp,
8. sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of
musick, ye fall down and worship the image
which I have made; well: but if ye worship not,
ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of
a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God
that shall deliver you out of my hands?
Dan 3:17-18 17 If it be so, our God whom
we serve is able to deliver us from the burning
fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine
hand, O king.
18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king,
that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the
golden image which thou hast set up.

Dan 4:14-15
14 He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the
tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his
9. leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get
away from under it, and the fowls from his
branches:
15 Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in
the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in
the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet
with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be
with the beasts in the grass of the earth:
Dan 4:16 Let his heart be changed from man's,
and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let
seven times pass over him.
Dan 4:17 This matter is by the decree of the
watchers, and the demand by the word of the
holy ones: to the intent that the living may
know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom
of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will,
and setteth up over it the basest of men.
10. Dan 4:22 It is thou, O king, that art grown and
become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and
reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the
end of the earth.
Dan 4:25 That they shall drive thee from men,
and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the
field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as
oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of
heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till
thou know that the most High ruleth in the
kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever
he will.
Dan 4:29-31 29 At the end of twelve months
he walked in the palace of the kingdom of
Babylon.
30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great
Babylon, that I have built for the house of the
kingdom by the might of my power, and for the
honour of my majesty?
11. 31 While the word was in the king's mouth,
there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king
Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The
kingdom is departed from thee.
Dan 4:27
27) Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be
acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins
by righteousness, and thine iniquities by
shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a
lengthening of thy tranquillity.

Labashi-Marduk 556, 2-3 months
Nabonidus's son Belshazzar led a coup against
the king, deposing and killing Labashi-Marduk
and proclaiming Nabonidus as king.
13. Nabonidus 556-539, 17 years
Nabonidus was in self-imposed exile in Tayma
in Arabia for unknown reasons, possibly due to
disagreements with the Babylonian clergy.
Nabonidus worked to increase the status of the
moon god Sîn and decrease the status of
Babylon's traditional national deity Marduk.
Though some have suggested that Nabonidus
wished to go as far as to completely replace
Marduk with Sîn as the head of the
Mesopotamian pantheon.
During this period of self-imposed exile in
Arabia, Belshazzar acted as regent in Babylonia,
while Nabonidus continued to be recognized as
the king.
