The document discusses faithful listening to God's word in order to cultivate a hunger for it, find God's plan, obey what is true, and celebrate life in Christ. It then summarizes passages from Acts 1 where Jesus appears to the apostles after resurrection and instructs them to remain in Jerusalem and await the Holy Spirit, and that they will receive power to be witnesses for Jesus in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the earth. The document connects this to Jesus' Great Commission in Matthew to make disciples of all nations.
This is a SS lesson for 10/21/2012. Dying to self / living for God puts you into His Community (Body) that you share in, and that shares with you. You can more than "survive" -- really, thrive as a serving functioning, loving part of that body. His Church of redeemed believers is His joy, and He will be found in them: to God be all the glory! This lesson shares some other passages by Paul about God's multi-faceted grace that shows up for all the world to see in His Church.

Dear brothers and sisters,
We are commissioned to communicate God's salvific message. If you are quiet about God's Word, think again your Christian vocation, because you are not doing well.

Evangelist Bernie Gillott explains the necessity and power of being filled with the Holy Spirit. Bernie has seen thousands of drug-addicted lives around the world transformed through the power of faith in Jesus and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit! Bernie & his wife, Cathy, travel with Global Teen Challenge to rescue those addicted to life-controlling chemicals. Great people!
The book of Acts by chapters looks at each chapter by major topics in an acrostic form. Acts is commonly called the Acts of the Apostles but is in reality the Acts of the Holy Spirit. the acrostic spells out, "Holy Spirit Working In The Church"
Here is my attempt to explain in short fashion what the Bible has to tell us about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, complete with my own short testimony of who God “zapped” me in as a Marine Lieutenant in Japan in 1973. God wants to fill us all again and again with His Spirit so we can be powerful and fruitful witnesses for Him here and around the world.
Pray for God to fill you again and to baptize you with His Spirit if you have never experienced that.

The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
Evangelization in the footsteps of Saint Vincent de Paul
Acts 1,1 8-2
1.
2. Faithful Listening
We listen in order to:
1. Cultivate a hunger for God’s Word
2. Find God’s plan and purpose for our lives
3. Obey what we believe to be true
4. Celebrate our life in Christ with the church
4. Acts 1
1 The first account I composed, Theophilus,
about all that Jesus began to do and teach,
[2] until the day when He was taken up to
heaven, after He had by the Holy Spirit
given orders to the apostles whom He had
chosen.
3 To these He also presented Himself alive
after His suffering, by many convincing
proofs, appearing to them over a period of
forty days and speaking of the things
concerning the kingdom of God.
5. Acts 1
4 Gathering them together, He commanded
them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for
what the Father had promised, “Which,” He
said, “you heard of from Me; [5] for John
baptized with water, but you will be
baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days
from now.”
6 So when they had come together, they were
asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time
You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”
6. Acts 1
7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know
times or epochs which the Father has fixed
by His own authority; [8] but you will
receive power when the Holy Spirit has
come upon you; and you shall be My
witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in
all Judea and Samaria, and even to
the remotest part of the earth.”
7. Acts 1
1 The first account I composed,
Theophilus, about all that Jesus began
to do and teach, [2] until the day when
He was taken up to heaven, after He
had by the Holy Spirit given orders to
the apostles whom He had chosen.
8. Acts 1

10. Acts 1
6 So when they had come together, they
were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at

to Israel?”
11. Acts 1
7 He said to them, “It is not for you to
know times or epochs which the Father
has fixed by His own authority; [8] but
you will receive power when the Holy
Spirit has come upon you; and you shall
be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and
in all Judea and Samaria, and even to
the remotest part of the earth.”
12. The Great Commission
Mat 28:19–20
“Go therefore and make
disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the
name of the Father and
the Son and the Holy
Spirit, teaching them to
observe all that I
commanded you; and lo, I
am with you always, even
to the end of the age.”
Acts 1:8
“you will receive power
when the Holy Spirit has
come upon you; and you
shall be My witnesses both
in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and
even to the remotest part
of the earth.”
13. “you shall be My witnesses”
If you have been given the gift of the
Holy Spirit, you are a witness for Jesus.
Will you be an effective one?
