There are several dangerous myths about breast cancer that are still commonly believed. One myth is that there is always a lump present with breast cancer, but cancer can exist without a lump and regular screenings through mammograms are important for early detection. Another myth is that breast cancer is almost solved, but it remains the second deadliest cancer in women, killing over 40,000 women per year in the US. Additionally, while screenings are useful for early detection, lifestyle factors like maintaining a healthy weight and limiting alcohol can significantly reduce breast cancer risk. Finally, having no family history of breast cancer does not mean you are not at risk, as 85% of breast cancer patients do not have a family link to the disease.
