PROFILE:
Multi-skilled - Apprentice trained Machine Tool Fitter with skills in- Machining & Mechanical fitting, Fabrication
and welding (MIG / Arc), automated systems and Robotics, Problem and Fault diagnosis, Design, Basic electrical
wiring and installation, UPS systems, compressors, pipe up to 300bar pressure. In addition, Supervisory experience
as on-site engineer (5yrs). Technical authoring writing manuals and job descriptions.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
In 1997/8, I was instrumental in the complete design and manufacture of a new machine for wound care dressings.
The project was completed on a stringent time schedule and produces excellent quality stock today. Included in the
brief was operator and maintenance team training including change over techniques required for the various sizes
and shapes of the product.
In 1999, I took the post of Engineering Supervisor, on-site at Ford Motor Co. for Messer’s Claas Fertigungs
Technik, working on their cylinder head, camshaft, crankshaft, valve and block line installations.

Automotive Experience Brief:
I was apprentice trained Machine Tool & Tool Fitter at Vauxhall Motors, Ellesmere Port (1974-
1979). I was working in areas for engine component manufacture, engine build, axle/transmission
machining, Press shop and mechanical handling.
I left there about 1982 (recession) and went to South Africa for Leyland S.A., on a Mini engine
machining and assembly line installation then maintenance. I was there for approx. 0ne and half
years. On returning was back at Vauxhalls for a few more years.
Since about 1989/90, I have travelled and worked on installations/commissions and maintenance
in Vauxhalls, Fords, British Leyland, Rover, Nissan, Toyota within the UK, and Ford plants in
Germany and Spain.
I have experience on cylinder head, block, crankshaft, and camshaft, valve machining lines, Press
tool and jigs/fixtures, mechanical handling & robotics. I have worked for most of the major tool
automation companies, Grob, Krauser, GSA, Froelich, Lamb Technicon, Ingersoll Rand and Claas
Fertigungs Technik.
In 1994ish, I was on contract to Claas FT based in Cologne. This was on the complete installation
of fully automated cylinder head, valve, crank and camshaft machining lines. All conveying

systems with overhead storage racks, pick & place robotic gantries etc. were all installed and
commissioned. I was 4 years later taken on by Claas FT, as their on-site engineer based in
Cologne. I left Germany in 2002 and have been in the UK since then.

Maintenance and installation of Extruders (up to 6 inch barrel) and Rotary thermoforming. The
printing of plastic tubs and lids, packaging lines. And raw material delivery.

Employment History 1974 to 2011
Mechanical Engineer for ENERGETIX GROUP based in Capenhurst. I was involved in the research and
development of other forms of Electrical Power (UPS and CHP). I was working on UPS systems not requiring
batteries. I had duties that covered the design and fabrication of compressor units, machine shop practices, building
services, high-pressure pipe work, technical manual authoring, and customer liaison. (10/03/08 to 17/2/11)
2002 – 2008
A) Bristol Myers Squibb (Convatec). Wound care dressing manufacturing lines maintenance, I designed and
built a multi layer wound dressing machine (still in production), also operator instruction and manual
construction.(occasions of work from 1991 until Jan. 1998)
B) Mechanical Engineer for company based in Southport. Designing and manufacturing ‘Vacuum Coolers’. I
was involved with the manufacture, installation, commission and service of coolers and conveying systems,
also refrigeration equipment.(01/07/07 – 5/3/08)
C) Training Development Adviser for a company based in Birkenhead. This involves going out to other
companies and colleges, to assess Apprentices progress at both work, and college, sometimes giving
guidance etc. within the LSC Frameworks. (31/05/06 – 30/06/07)
D) Astech Projects Ltd. The building and commission of specialist automated testing machinery for the Drug
manufactures Pfizer and GSK.(29/03/05 – 03/03/06)

On-site Engineering Supervising Technician
Extensive work carried out at plants in Cologne & Valencia, as Installation Technician then supervising engineer,
looking after the day-to-day running of manpower/materials for the old and new installations within the Ford
Motor Co., based in Cologne, Germany. This was a dual role and being ‘hands on’ was integral to the position.
The role covered fully automated machine lines and conveying systems used in the production of Engine Blocks,
Heads, Valves, Camshafts, Crankshafts through to fully automated stacking and storage lines.
1991 – 1998 (Convatec, a BMS company, and contracts in Germany & Spain for Fords motor co.)
Various duties carried out for the Global development dept. including line maintenance, clean room environments
and machine building projects.
Several years spent at Fords, Cologne and Valencia, as Installation Engineer on extensive automated line builds
and machine installations, then progressing to supervising engineer for Claas.
1989 – 1991 (DRG Plastics)
Employed as a multi skilled Engineer on the rotary thermoforming and printing lines manufacturing tubs and lids
for the butter and margarine industry.
1985 – 1989 (Associated Octel Company)
I worked in the sodium and chlorine production hall for 2 yrs. Then moved to the lead works on the additives for
petrol production.
1981 – 1985
Contracts at, Kellogg’s and BICC in Wrexham. Working on the installation and commission of the bran flake lines
(conveyors, ovens, dryers, packaging). At BICC was involved with the ‘spinning’ machines for wire production.
In 1982/4 I was in South Africa working on the re-installation of a mini engine line shipped in from England. I was
responsible for the installation and maintenance whilst there.

I was involved in the research and development of other forms of Electrical Power (UPS and CHP). I was working on UPS systems not requiring batteries. I had duties that covered the design and fabrication of compressor units, machine shop practices, building services, high-pressure pipe work, technical manual authoring, and customer liaison. This involves going out to other companies and colleges, to assess Apprentices progress at both work, and college, sometimes giving guidance etc. within the LSC Frameworks. The building and commission of specialist automated testing machinery for the Drug manufactures Pfizer and GSK.(29/03/05 – 03/03/06) E) Positions at Lever Faberge. Nov 1998 - March 2002 Claas Fertigungtecknik Gmbh On-site Engineering Supervising Technician Extensive work carried out at plants in Cologne & Valencia, as Installation Technician then supervising engineer, looking after the day-to-day running of manpower/materials for the old and new installations within the Ford Motor Co., based in Cologne, Germany. This was a dual role and being ‘hands on’ was integral to the position. The role covered fully automated machine lines and conveying systems used in the production of Engine Blocks, Heads, Valves, Camshafts, Crankshafts through to fully automated stacking and storage lines. 1991 – 1998 (Convatec, a BMS company, and contracts in Germany & Spain for Fords motor co.) Various duties carried out for the Global development dept. including line maintenance, clean room environments and machine building projects. Several years spent at Fords, Cologne and Valencia, as Installation Engineer on extensive automated line builds and machine installations, then progressing to supervising engineer for Claas. 1989 – 1991 (DRG Plastics) Employed as a multi skilled Engineer on the rotary thermoforming and printing lines manufacturing tubs and lids for the butter and margarine industry. 1985 – 1989 (Associated Octel Company) I worked in the sodium and chlorine production hall for 2 yrs. Then moved to the lead works on the additives for petrol production. 1981 – 1985 Contracts at, Kellogg’s and BICC in Wrexham. Working on the installation and commission of the bran flake lines (conveyors, ovens, dryers, packaging). At BICC was involved with the ‘spinning’ machines for wire production. In 1982/4 I was in South Africa working on the re-installation of a mini engine line shipped in from England. I was responsible for the installation and maintenance whilst there. 1974 – 1981 (Vauxhall Motors Ltd) Apprentice trained as a machine tool fitter in the Engine block, camshaft, crankshaft, gear line, Axles, Gearbox, heat treatment and press shop areas of production.
