Jan 2001 Project Manager
This company produces high quality sound recording and synthesiser systems for the
recording, film, television and video industry worldwide. Introduction of a new product
resulted in an untidy and painful overlap with the previous equipment I was made
responsible for providing the interface between the R and D team of 20 engineers and a
variety of subcontractors that manufactured the designed components that comprised the
new M4 system. The major task was to introduce certain disciplines that resulted in a
smoother and more predictable output that allowed substantial back orders to be met, at
the same time ensuring the R and D effort continued in a sensible manner. At the end of
my term Fairlight was awarded a Hollywood Oscar for the performance and innovation of
their dubbing systems.

a wide area network that was ultimately let to Telecom Australia. Approximately 1000
users are connected to this network through major hubs is each capital city. A combination
of Frame Relay and ATM systems were used and the appropriate firewall and security
systems were chosen in conjunction with the Alstom CHQ personnel in France. The
network is now complete to the satisfaction of users and management.
Investigation, direction and reorganisation of the IT systems in place at Milperra and to
transition this to new management personnel. This is now complete.
More recently I am involved with the transition phase of the take over of the Ballarat
workshops from the PTC in Victoria that have been bought by the ALSTOM group. The
workshop repairs and refurbish train and tram assemblies and will be involved in the fit
out of new trains and rolling stock since the Alstom group purchased the franchise for
Hillside trains in Melbourne from the PTC of Victoria.

units to the Power modulation systems.Management Cost structures were established, and
major engineering development, production and installation tasks were identified. Contact
and negotiations with suppliers and manufacturers in Singapore were established..
Engineering standards and design procedures were established and all engineering and
documentation activities were planned under my direction. The design and trial was
successfully completed and a 15000-label trial was instituted in a Kmart store for the Coles
Myer group at Chadstone in Melbourne. Since that time negotiations are now in progress
for in excess of 6 million labels to Coles Myer who are under pressure to introduce an
automated price update scheme to cope with the forthcoming introduction of the GST.

undertaken by the Division. This included the initial financial and engineering analysis of
each project after contract award. Management Cost structures established, and major
engineering and development tasks identified. Thereafter, personnel requirements are
identified and the necessary staff hired under my direction. The smooth running and
profitability are important part of this activity. Contact and negotiations with clients are
undertaken regularly. Subcontractors are selected and approved to my satisfaction, this
includes price and Commercial Conditions. Engineering standards are established to ISO
9001 and all engineering and documentation activities were planned and carried out under
my direction. I was responsible for major projects, each of which has a dedicated Project
Manager.
The following Projects were established and completed.
Northbridge Tunnel, Perth, WA. Project value $35 Million. Client: Baulderstone
Clough.
Project Manager
Electrical and Mechanical fit out of a new road tunnel in Perth. Project was the
best project set up and successfully completed by the company.
New Paint Facility, Ford Motor Co., Victoria, Project value $55 Million
This was undertaken with a French counterpart and required time to be spent in
France to establish the appropriate contractual, engineering and documentation
outcomes from this technology source. Project works included Civil Buildings,

structures was developed as a world first in meeting the Defence standards for
vibration and shock. Computer modelling facilities were established to simulate
the requirements that proved satisfactory when physical tests were done.
Production of switchboards, distribution boards, and starters have been
satisfactorily made to ADI strictly to schedule. The financial prospect for the
