Remember to tailor your CV summary to each job application by highlighting the most relevant skills and experiences for the position. Keep it concise, focused, and impactful to capture the attention of potential employers.
When writing a CV summary, also known as a professional summary or career summary, it's essential to concisely highlight your key skills, experiences, and career objectives. Here's a structured approach to writing a CV summary:
Introduction: Start with a brief introduction that includes your job title or professional designation and years of experience in your field.
Key Skills: Highlight 3-5 key skills or areas of expertise relevant to the position you're applying for. These should be your strongest skills that align with the job requirements.
Experience: Summarize your relevant work experience, emphasizing achievements and accomplishments rather than just listing duties. Mention any notable projects, promotions, or recognitions.
Qualifications: Highlight any relevant qualifications, certifications, or degrees that support your candidacy for the position.
Career Objective: Conclude with a statement about your career objective or goal, indicating how you plan to contribute to the organization or what you hope to achieve in your next role.
Keep it concise: Your summary should be brief and to the point, typically consisting of 2-3 sentences. Avoid lengthy paragraphs or irrelevant details.
Highlight your key strengths: Focus on your most relevant skills, qualifications, and experiences that are directly related to the job you're applying for. Choose 3-4 key strengths that make you stand out as a candidate.
Tailor it to the job: Customize your summary to match the requirements of the job you're applying for. Highlight experiences and skills that align with the job description and emphasize how you can contribute to the company's success.
Include your career objectives: Briefly mention your career goals and aspirations, demonstrating your motivation and enthusiasm for the role and the company.
Use action words: Use strong action verbs and descriptive language to convey confidence and competence. Start your sentences with action words such as "experienced," "skilled," "accomplished," etc.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Do the best job you can, even if you are not getting paid. You’ll gain recognition and trust and may get more responsibility, as well as excellent references. Every so often, ask your boss how you’re doing. What could you do differently? What could you do better? Ask co-workers to tell you about their job and what they do. Find someone in the role you want to do and ask them how they got there Being able to demonstrate that you understand how different areas of nfp orgs work together is very valuable. Volunteer for tasks outside your immediate remit to build experience even more. A testimonial on an entry-level CV can be extremely powerful, esp from a reputable org like the UN.
