 IMPORT Regulations
Free Import
Import by non residents, only if they enter India for more
than 24 hours and less than 6 months
They visit India not more than once a month
• Persons of age 17 years and above: 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or
250gms of tobacco, 2 litres of alchoholic liquor or wine.
• Medicines in reasonable quantities
• 2 ounces of perfume and 0.25 litres of toilet water
• Jewellery upto a combined value of
50000 INR for male & 100000 INR for female travellers.
 Free Import in case of Travel Souvenirs
imported by:
 Nationals & residents of India or Indian origin provided age is
10 years and above.
 Returning from Bhutan, China, Myanmar or Nepal; upto
6000INR, if stayed outside for more than 3 days.
 If returning from other countries when stayed more than 3
days: up to 3500INR; when stayed up to 3 days: up to
15000INR.
 Nationals or origins of Bhutan & Nepal and coming from other
countries up to 8000INR.
 Nationals or origins of Pakistan and coming from Pakistan up
to 6000INR; if coming from other countries upto 8000INR
PETS
Cats & Dogs import of a maximum of two pets as baggage is
allowed
BAGGAGE CLEARANCE REGULATION
Baggage is cleared at first entry
 Import of one licensed revolver , pistol or shotgun and 50
cartridges is permitted
 They have to be carried in Secured, Marked & Registered
baggage in the cargo hold.
 Only those operating at 27MHz are permitted
 Others will be inspected on a case by case basis and can be
destroyed based on their technical specifications
 Import of seeds & plants for sowing, planting and propagation,
consumption, research are restricted to airports of Bengaluru,
Varanasi, Guwahati, Mumbai & Hyderabad.
 For livestock and its products an NOC must be obtained in
advance from Animal Quarantine and Certification services.
CURRENCY IMPORT REGULATIONS
 Foreign Currencies Unlimited.
Amounts exceeding USD 5000 in cash or USD 10000
in traveller’s cheque must be declared
 Import of INR is prohibited except for residents of
India importing up to 7500INR.
 Re exchange only through banks and authorized
money exchange points.
CURRENCY EXPORT REGULATIONS
 Foreign Currencies upto amount imported &
declared
 Local currency up to 7500INR for residents of
India except when deporting to Nepal & Bhutan
 Residents deporting to Bhutan & Nepal, no limit
in amount of INR but notes no bigger than
100INR may be carried.
 Re exchange only through banks and authorized
money exchange points.
World Health Organisation
 International Health Regulations (IHR)
Legally binding international agreement to prevent
international spread of diseases.
 Providing a framework for the coordination of the
management of events that constitute a public health
emergency of international concern and improve the capacity
of all countries to detect, assess, notify and respond to public
health threats.
 Diseases can spread via international travel & trade. Health
crisis in one country can affect livelihoods and economies in
many parts of the world.
 Crisis can result from emerging infections like Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) or a new human influenza
pandemic.
 First adopted by WHO members in 1969, the old IHR applied to
cholera, yellow fever & plague.
 Travel & trade increased over the last 35 years and the major
revision updated rules to prevent international spread of diseases
while minimizing interference with world travel & trade.
 While health measures to control spread of diseases at borders
remain one important element, rapid response at the source as well
as fast & sincere reporting play an role in preventing spread of
communicable diseases.
 In this context, UNWTO conducted the workshop :
“Communications and Incentive: The Importance of Fast & Sincere
Reporting”

  • 7.  Free Import in case of Travel Souvenirs imported by:  Nationals & residents of India or Indian origin provided age is 10 years and above.  Returning from Bhutan, China, Myanmar or Nepal; upto 6000INR, if stayed outside for more than 3 days.  If returning from other countries when stayed more than 3 days: up to 3500INR; when stayed up to 3 days: up to 15000INR.  Nationals or origins of Bhutan & Nepal and coming from other countries up to 8000INR.  Nationals or origins of Pakistan and coming from Pakistan up to 6000INR; if coming from other countries upto 8000INR PETS Cats & Dogs import of a maximum of two pets as baggage is allowed BAGGAGE CLEARANCE REGULATION Baggage is cleared at first entry
  • 8.  Import of one licensed revolver , pistol or shotgun and 50 cartridges is permitted  They have to be carried in Secured, Marked & Registered baggage in the cargo hold.  Only those operating at 27MHz are permitted  Others will be inspected on a case by case basis and can be destroyed based on their technical specifications  Import of seeds & plants for sowing, planting and propagation, consumption, research are restricted to airports of Bengaluru, Varanasi, Guwahati, Mumbai & Hyderabad.  For livestock and its products an NOC must be obtained in advance from Animal Quarantine and Certification services.

Amounts exceeding USD 5000 in cash or USD 10000 in traveller’s cheque must be declared  Import of INR is prohibited except for residents of India importing up to 7500INR.  Re exchange only through banks and authorized money exchange points.

CURRENCY EXPORT REGULATIONS  Foreign Currencies upto amount imported & declared  Local currency up to 7500INR for residents of India except when deporting to Nepal & Bhutan  Residents deporting to Bhutan & Nepal, no limit in amount of INR but notes no bigger than 100INR may be carried.  Re exchange only through banks and authorized money exchange points.

World Health Organisation  International Health Regulations (IHR) Legally binding international agreement to prevent international spread of diseases.  Providing a framework for the coordination of the management of events that constitute a public health emergency of international concern and improve the capacity of all countries to detect, assess, notify and respond to public health threats.  Diseases can spread via international travel & trade. Health crisis in one country can affect livelihoods and economies in many parts of the world.  Crisis can result from emerging infections like Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) or a new human influenza pandemic.
  • 13.  First adopted by WHO members in 1969, the old IHR applied to cholera, yellow fever & plague.  Travel & trade increased over the last 35 years and the major revision updated rules to prevent international spread of diseases while minimizing interference with world travel & trade.  While health measures to control spread of diseases at borders remain one important element, rapid response at the source as well as fast & sincere reporting play an role in preventing spread of communicable diseases.  In this context, UNWTO conducted the workshop : “Communications and Incentive: The Importance of Fast & Sincere Reporting”
