BABY BLOOMERS
Time Context The case under study covers the period of the 1980's (particularly 1987) wherein the
Philippine economy is experiencing difficulty due to the political turmoil.
Summary A family enterprise known as the Baby Bloomers specializing in floral arrangement was
founded in 1977. It was inspired by the Three Flowers Florists which is considered as the leading
supplier of flower arrangements during the previous years. It became widely known floral trade to
the market because of the imported materials they use. Also, their standardized outlet, with luxuriant
interior and overall air of quality, has a great impact to the customer. This led to a large amount of
cash inflows incurred by the company, mainly because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Disadvantages
Letting go of the chance of successful business expansion where it can put the firm in a positive
place when it comes to acquiring necessary financing.
It cannot place the company in the forefront of many customers' mind.
Sacrificing the income coming from expansion of other boutiques.
2. Foreclosed the restaurant with moderate earnings and continue to expand immensely profitable
flower boutiques.
Advantages
There will be more time can be devoted in well–management of the flower boutiques because the
company will be focusing on one kind of business.
Greater chance of improving and innovating their products and services because they will stick to
business which the family knows best.
Disadvantages
Products of this kind of business are not necessaries which customers consumed almost everyday.
In case demand for flower arrangements decrease the company might suffer additional losses
because there will be no other sources of income.
3. As the company regains its success, take into consideration expansion of unrelated ventures.
Advantages
An opportunity to staff new businesses with qualified people. These people can help streamline
processes, bring fresh ideas to the organization.
Exposing the brand name Baby Bloomers to a wider audience. This increased pool of potential
customers can improve sales, resulting in increased

Zimbabwe : A Landlocked Country Essay
Zimbabwe is a landlocked country, centrally situated in Southern Africa and sharing borders with
Mozambique (to the East), South Africa (to the South), Botswana (to the West) and Zambia (to the
North). With a population of about 12 million people, the country's literacy rate is over 90% and
ranked number one in Africa by UN Standards (2010). The country covers an area of 399 757km2
and has a sub–tropical climate which supports a wide range of agricultural activities. Although
Zimbabwe is landlocked, the country enjoys access to the sea ports of Beira and Maputo in
Mozambique; Durban, Port Elizabeth and East London in South Africa; and Walvis Bay in Namibia.
The country is endowed with rich natural resources including minerals, energy, popular tourist
attractions, as well as an excellent climate for agriculture. In the mining sector, Zimbabwe has huge
reserves of over forty different types of minerals that include gold, chrome, nickel, granite,
chrysotile asbestos, coal, copper, lithium, platinum and diamonds. The country is among the low–
cost producers of minerals due to abundant shallow deposits. In the agricultural sector, the country
produces high quality maize, tobacco, cotton, beef, sugar, tea, coffee, wheat, soya beans, fruits,
timber, floriculture and horticulture products, livestock and dairy. The country also has a diversified
manufacturing industry base. The major industries include food processing, metals, leather and

Coffee Crisis in Kenya Essay
INTRODUCTION
For many years, Kenya has been famous for its coffee. Described as strong in body and intense in
flavor, Kenyan coffee, which belongs to the Arabica variety, is considered one of the world's most
consistent sources of high–grade caffeine. And because of its good cash returns to local farmers,
coffee has traditionally occupied a large share of the country's most productive lands, grown mostly
on rich, red volcanic soil in areas with high and well distributed rainfall.
However, the story has changed in the past decade. Like other nations, Kenya's coffee sector, which
used to be the country's prime foreign exchange earner, has been badly affected by plummeting
world prices and now trails behind horticulture, tea and tourism in ... Show more content on

Thus, they have used (even certified) reputable farm's names to designate their purchases as
authentic gourmet (single origin). Coffee board of Kenya (CBK) data indicates that the average
F.O.B. price of re–graded coffee was US$6.81/Kg in 2002, more than four times the auction average
of US$1.54/Kg. Experts have attributed the drastic fall in coffee prices on the international markets
to the oversupply of beans, which has not been matched by demand. However, according to the
British charity, Oxfam, the issue is more to do with fair global trade than just market demand and
supply factors.
In a report it released in September 2002, Oxfam stated that the deregulation of the coffee industry
had pushed millions of coffee farmers in the developing world to destitution, while "the coffee
companies are laughing all the way to the bank".
It is heartening that so many businesses depend on coffee. Direct, middle and long–term effects on
social economic and environmental fronts would be devastating. It will be imperative that any
policies and decisions made by the government will have producers' interests at heart. Otherwise,
we won't have any coffee to sell in the next 3 years.
Also, there are initiatives that are geared to setting up of different trade avenues, with a view to
earning better premiums, and passing benefits realized

Walden University
Abstract
Washington State's Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) operates the state's K–12
capital grant programs through the School Facilities and Organization (SF&O). The state's largest
grant is the School Construction Assistance Program (SCAP), which provides funding aid for
facility planning, updates and new construction. Finley School District is currently utilizing the
SCAP funding in the building construction and modernization in order to house a wood shop, a
metal shop, two carrier and technical education (CTE) classrooms and two greenhouses.

The new facilities will provide courses, including STEM science, engineering development, bio–
tech lab, animal science, horticulture science, floriculture and 3D printing. The FSD received OSPI
approval and funding for the project after submitting the compliance verification and details with the
applicable state and local regulations. The Educational Service District assists FDS with meeting
regulatory requirements and implementing the optimal management practices. OSPI does not have
the authority to manage the construction process, or the school operation and maintenance. FSD is
committed to completing the steps necessary in the planning, designing and construction of their
project. The process of the school facility building program is in accordance with Washington's
SCAP. The High–Performance Public Buildings Law requires construction to be designed and built
to high–performance green building standards (Washington State Legislature, 2011). The
construction is generally a multi–year (between two to four years for completion) and a multi–phase
process. There are six phases: preliminary planning, financing school construction, predesign
analysis, preparing for construction, construction and occupancy. In phase one, FSD's Board of
Directors are responsible for addressing the needs of the district, and the necessary facilities needed
to meet these needs. The results are compiled in

The Land Is Public Property In Ethiopia Case Analysis

available to the investors at a competitive price on a Lease–Hold basis. The Lease or Rental value of
land and fixed assets may transfer to the third party, but not the land. Incidentally, about the capital
requirement, to assist investors to decide to invest on their own or jointly with the domestic
investors the minimum capital required for a single project has been apprehended. Under the

Do Blizzards That May Result In Frostbite Or Hypothermia?
Breathing difficulties, hypothermia (intense fall in body temperatures) and frostbite can take place
due to the low air pressures and temperatures. During blizzards, with the combination of cold
temperatures and strong winds, very low wind coldness values can occur. It is not uncommon below
–60F during blizzard conditions. Exposure to such low wind freeze values can result in frostbite or
hypothermia. The wind and ice of blizzard cut down power lines and cut off power to entire
communities for a long time. May be several week. Also Blizzards can reason for large scale

Sports View Scholarship
Hard work and determination have brought me much success in my high school career. I have
competed at state in all of my activities, am an officer/captain in these programs, and was the Triple
AAward winner for my school. Whether it be in academics, sports, or the community, I am alway
determined to improve, making me an excellent candidate for the Sports View Scholarship.
Academics have always been important in my life. This is evident with being ranked first in my
class while taking many college and AP courses. However success in knowledge should not be
limited to school. I have went to state in Speech and am in Perham's first year Knowledge Bowl. In
the past two years, I was the runner–up and the champion in the Regional FFA floriculture contest,
leading to a Silver Award at the state contest. Further, in my two years of being in Science Research,
I have made won regionals, twice qualified for state, and am going to the International Science and
Engineering Fair this spring. However, I am not using these abilities just for myself. I actively teach

International Capital Movement
CHAPTER 1 ABSTRACT: Existing studies reveals that the huge surge in international capital flows
since early 1990s has created unprecedented opportunities for the developing countries like India to
achieve accelerated economic growth. International financial institutions routinely advise
developing countries to adopt policy regimes that encourage capital inflows. Since the introduction
of the reform process in the early 1990s, India has witnessed a significant increase in capital
inflows. The size of net capital inflows to India increased from US $ 7.1 billion in 1990–91 to US $
108.0 billion in 2007–08. Today, India has one of the highest net capital inflows among the EMEs of
Asia. Capital inflows, however, not an unmitigated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

whether the international capital flows has positive impact on financial markets and economic
growth. The empirical analysis using the time series data between April 1995 to December 2004

Trends in International Capital and Foreign Exchange Markets Cross–border portfolio investment
has expanded rapidly over the past several years. Total cross–border securities holdings among
residents of the United States, Europe, and Japan are estimated to have risen to $ 2.5 trillion in 1991,
about evenly split between fixed–income securities and equities. Over the past decade, the volume
of international equity transactions increased by an average of around 15 percent per year. In nearly
all major countries the percentage of domestic government debt owned by foreigners has increased
substantially, and in some cases dramatically. Mainly as a result of those trends, and of more active
management of portfolios, the worldwide volume of foreign exchange transactions is estimated to
have tripled in the last six years, reaching an estimated US $

My School Year Was My Sophomore Year Essay
The 1979–80 school year was my sophomore year; the 1980–81 school year was my junior year. For
both of these school years the Mid–Valley Junior High School and Mid–Valley Senior High School
continued to operate in a campus environment in Olyphant. Throughout most of the 1970s the Mid–
Valley Spartans football team played home games at the Valley View stadium. In the late 1970s,
they began to play home games on a football field on a playground in Fern Hill. This was a
makeshift stadium of sorts. There was not a complete fence around the area. People paid admission
using the honor system. There were aluminum bleachers near East Grant Street. There was no press
box. A school bus was parked behind the bleachers. The people who would normally be in a press
box stood on top of the roof of the bus. At half time the football team used to go to the nearby fire
station, Eureka Hose Company No. 4. I intended to major in Electrical Engineering in college, so
while I was a freshman, I applied for enrollment in the Electronics Technology program at the

When Recruiting An Administrator And The Other Employees
When recruiting an administrator, several considerations come into play. An administrator is broadly
responsible for the efficiency in terms of the company's running. This means they are the link
between top management and the other employees. They ensure smooth flow of information, be it
from the management down, or from the employees up. In other words, they are instrumental in
ensuring smooth flow of the company as well as maintaining file records of all employees and
clients. Reasonably, beyond having the necessary technical and academic training as, they must
possess other distinctive skills. Their ability to properly manage themselves, their time and those
around them. They should be thoroughly organised especially considering they are responsible for
maintaining company records and files. They also must have a level of creativity that allows them to
effectively deal with the dynamic challenges that surround the business world (Smith & Mounter,
2008). The business environment is characterised by challenges that require quick solutions. An
administrator must have the ability to properly look into situations and quickly come up with
solutions. During the interview, interviewers will pose hypothetical real–life situations. Based on the
proficiency and articulacy one approaches and defends it, they will indicate one's level of creativity
and efficiency. In the course of their duties, an administrator meets with a lot of people ranging from
clients to fellow employees.

The Physical Geography of Kalamazoo
The Physical Geography of Kalamazoo
Physical Geography of Michigan Kalamazoo, Michigan has been around officially around since the
eighteen thirties. It has long since a agricultural producer and has been growing steadily throughout
the years as a metropolitan area. This paper will focus on the actual land itself mainly looking at the
geological history, glacial formations, streams, wind landforms, groundwater, climate, soil,
vegetation, agriculture, tourism, and a small summary of the community of the area of Kalamazoo.
For the first paragraph we shall have a quick focus on the geological history of the area of
Kalamazoo. The main deposits and formations of the Kalamazoo area where formed during the
Wisconsin glaciation period. Now the deposits are actually due to two lobes during this period, the
lobes are the Lake Michigan and Saginaw lobe. Kalamazoo is actually know as a "reentrant district"
due to the presence of two different lobes materials. During the middle of the Wisconsin Ice Age the
Lake Michigan lobe was extending southeastward, while the Saginaw lobe was extending
southwest. With the meeting of the two lobes an interlobate developed between the terminals of the
lobes. It is also thought that the two lobes overlapped each other. With the Saginaw lobe covering
the Kalamazoo area first and then retreating while the Lake Michigan lobe then covered the area.
There are also some bedrock formations in the area as well, these formations were established

Corporate Social Responsibility
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) is a term describing a company's obligation to
be accountable to all of its stakeholder in all its operation and activities. Socially responsible
companies consider the full scope of their impact on communities and the environment when
making decisions, balancing the needs of stakeholder with their need to make profit. A company's
stakeholders are all those who are influenced by and can influence a company's decisions and action,
both locally and globally. Business stakeholders include(but are not limited to) employees,

Some would argue that the only reason to take on social projects is for utilitarian reasons, such as
currying favor with the public or with government, or to improve market standing. Others, such as
the philosopher Michael E. Berumen, suggest that a business is property belonging to the owners,
not stakeholders, and that a business is not equivalent to a mini–state for the purpose of creating
social justice or carrying out social planning, and that the owners have the right to dispose of their
property as they see fit within the limits of morality, including for profit, social good, or both.
Proponents of CSR would suggest a number of reasons why self interested corporations, seeking to
solely to maximize profits are unable to advance the interests of society as a whole: Corporations
care little for the welfare of the workers, and given the opportunity will move production to
sweatshops in less well regulated countries. Unchecked, companies will squander scarce resources.
Companies do not pay the full costs of their impact. For example the costs of cleaning pollution
often fall on society in general. As a result profits of corporations are enhanced at the expense of
social or ecological welfare. Regulation is the best way to ensure that companies

Personal Statement: The Vet Life
Ever since I was young, I have always loved animals. I remember saying I wanted to be a
veterinarian for the "when I grow up" project in kindergarten. As I grew up, my answer to the
question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" never changed: the answer was always a
veterinarian. I know that a lot of little girls say that they want to be vets to help animals, but when
they find out that they have to deal with gore or put an animal to sleep they change their minds.
However, when I realized what being a vet truly meant, it just made me more determined to reach
that goal. I want to help animals and see the joy of the animal's owner when they get their beloved
pet back. As I grew older, I began to watch many vet shows on television. My favorites are "The
Incredible Dr. Pol" and "The Vet Life." While watching these shows, my mom would always ask
me, "Are you sure you want to do that?" My answer was always "Yes!" These television shows only
reveal a tiny part of what it means to be a vet and have only reinforced my decision to become a vet.
I started volunteering at my local animal shelter when I turned fourteen. I sought out jobs like
cleaning kennels or washing dogs because I felt that this would contribute the most to the animal's
well–being. I volunteered at the shelter as often as I could. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Spirituality And Mysticism In Varanasi
'Banaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as
all of them put together.'–Mark Twain
Benaras, Kashi or Varanasi, whatever it may be called, this city has been enthralling people from far
and wide, since ages. The spirituality and mysticism of Varanasi, epitomizes everything Indian in a
different and better way than many other cities. Though it is considered as one of the oldest living
cities of the world, yet it presents an incomparable blend of tradition and modernism existing side
by side. With the majestic Ghats on the banks of the "Mokshdayini" Ganga, the temples, the narrow
by lanes, the art, culture, food and the people; Varanasi keeps unfolding itself like a maze ,which is
what attracts the world to Varanasi.
With the aim to take the city along the path of growth, development and to showcase to the world
that Varanasi is much more than temples and ghats, I spent three weeks in Varanasi as a district

Types And Crop Genetic Improvement
Weather risk, due to climate change, is getting unpredictable. There are two ways to counter this risk
viz. financial instruments and crop genetic improvement. For biological vulnerability, a suitable
pesticide or weed management is the obvious solution. Market outreach is possible with digital
technology and smart warehouses (Ahmad and Jamshed 2015a). Majority of farmers, if suffering
from major diseases due to exposure to hazardous and unhealthy work environment, should get
regular health care, insurance and epidemiological facilitation. Government subsidies do help the
farmers provided those really reach the targeted farmers fully and timely. The aim of financial
inclusion and sustainable growth is to cover these family farmers. Government move to open their
bank accounts for giving direct transfer to the beneficiaries is the first step. Regular subsidy doses to
cover all the farmers' risks will not serve the purpose. The input suppliers, service providers, banks,
insurance companies, procurement agencies, market functionaries, SHGs, warehouses and
commodity exchanges all are to be connected with family farmers through proper linkages. This
way government alone will not shoulder the risk coverage responsibility. Market mechanism
involving private sector operators in addition to banks, insurance companies and SHGs will take
maximum load of risk coverage. The government, without taking full load on its exchequer, may
only guarantee or partially or selectively sponsor some

North–east (NE) India is connected to remaining part of India through a constricted passage known
as Siliguri Corridor squeezed between Nepal and Bangladesh (Hussain, 2011). It comprises of seven
sister states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.

Mokokchung in Nagaland (India), from Mandalay (Myanmar) via Tamu to Moreh in Manipur
(India) and from Homalin (Myanmar) to Kohima (India) (Dolabhai, 2003).
Recommendations
The present scenario of drug abuse in NE India is very alarming as the future of the states is in ruin.
Three simultaneous actions are recommended to resolve the problem. These are checking the trans–
border smuggling of drugs, tackling the existing drug users and deterring fresh case. These can be
implemented through strict vigil, Systematic De–addiction and Rehabilitation Programme (SDRP)
and by generating scope for healthy livelihood.
Strict Vigil The very first challenge is to impose strict check at the international borders again drug
trafficking. The second challenge is to increase awareness regarding the adverse effect of drug abuse
through mass campaigning. Young Mizo Association (YMA), a local organization created by the
youths of Mizoram observed that drug abuse cases in the state in decline. Since 2004, 143 drugs
related death case has been reported and by June 2008, the same has come down to only four.
However, harsh punishment method employed by YMA called 'Supply Reduction Service' drew flak
from many quarters including the local media the human rights activists. (Outlook India, 2008)

Future Farmers of America Association
Can you believe that the National FFA Organization (Future Farmers of America) has over 400,000
members and growing in the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, and The Virgin Islands? The FFA is
a National Organization devoted to teaching and introducing students to agricultural education. It
has introduced a large impact on students, changed their views on agriculture, and given them the
chances to carry them out.
The history of FFA is quite a long one, starting back in 1925, when four agricultural education
teachers organized the Future Farmers of Virginia, which would serve as a model for FFA, as well as
the New Farmers of America. Then, in 1930, at the third National Convention, national ... Show

They can choose to extend their knowledge in fields like farm economics, marketing, computer
science, and biotechnology. Through chapter meetings, members will learn and develop public
speaking skills and working for others.
There are several activities to compete in and degrees to earn and receive in FFA. Members compete
at local, state, and national levels in the fields of public speaking, Ag mechanics, dairy–cattle,
livestock, poultry, dairy food, meat, and rabbit evaluations, floriculture, ornamental horticulture,
parliamentary procedures, and nursery/ landscaping skills. The FFA also gives out four degrees to its
members. The Discovery Degree is given to seventh and eight grade students. The Greenhand
Degree is given to high school freshmen with knowledge, goals, and skills of FFA. After completing
two semesters of Ag course work, you receive the Chapter Degree, with which you are entitled to
wear a silver pin. The last degree, the State Degree, is obtained for outstanding achievements and for
development of leadership skills. The receiver, however, must have also worked at least a minimum
of 300 unpaid hours, and they receive with this honor a golden emblem pin.
The FFA is definetly one of the younger organizations in the U.S. But, throughout the last ten years,
it has delivered a tremendous impact to students, teachers, and the nation along with it's future.

Calyx & Corolla Report
Problem Statement
Calyx & Corolla, as a company, has enjoyed considerable success since its humble beginnings in
1988. As we move forward, our goal is to solidify our presence in the flower market by evolving our
current business model. By examining our current marketing techniques and market environment,
our aim is to develop a new and successful business approach which will ensure long–term financial
growth and stability. Our foundation on the creativity of Ruth Owades has set us apart from
traditional retailers, and our greatest asset has been our ability to be there for our clients for the
simple and meaningful moments in their lives. Our long–term prosperity will entail engaging in a
new and different marketing campaign, which will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The FTD business model is based on receiving orders at an originating florist, and transmitting the
order to a florist local to the delivery address. There are several key differences between FTD and
Calyx & Corolla. FTD retains about 7% of the final sale price, with the majority going to the
receiving and delivering florists. By comparison, Calyx & Corolla retains 80% of the price of the
flowers, with 20% going directly to the grower. However, the principle difference between Calyx &
Corolla is that while FTD retains over 20,000 florists within the United States, Calyx & Corolla is
not directly affiliated with florists, but has strong ties to the fresh flower growers themselves. Calyx
& Corolla have decided to go the other way from the traditional model of selling fresh flowers,
somewhat side–stepping direct competition with major retail players.
Traditional retail stores cannot strictly be classified as competitors, because of their different
operating methods. While retailers rely on consumers setting foot into their stores, Calyx & Corolla
reaches out to its target market by way of catalogs, telemarketing, and in some cases, promotional
tie–ins with selected retail stores. Even the approach of FTD follows more closely the traditional
retail model than that of Calyx & Corolla. It is precisely for this reason that Ruth Owades saw an
opportunity to delve into an unexplored market. However, while Calyx & Corolla enjoy a much
higher operating gross per sale,

Kane County Ambassadors: A Leadership Analysis
As people get older, leadership and involvement become a huge part of who they are and how they

Factors Affecting The Biodiversity Of The Lake
Many lakes across the globe are home to a wide variety of organisms, which are supported by both
the lakes themselves and by the abundance of varying habitats surrounding them. Lake Naivasha
(0°45'N, 36°20'E) is one such lake: Situated within the rift valley, Lake Naivasha is a freshwater
home to an abundance of both native and alien flora and fauna, both aquatic and terrestrial
(Otiang'a–Owiti & Oswe, 2007). The lake has 3 main surface inflows; from the Malewa, Gilgil and
Karati rivers, but is an endorheic lake (Otiang'a–Owiti & Oswe, 2007); so is a closed hydrological
system on the surface (Figure 1). Nevertheless, it is thought that water from the lake does move
southward underground, through volcanic rocks (Clarke et al., 1990, Ojiambo et al., 2001). There
are various factors that contribute to the biodiversity of the lake; however one the most predominant
factors is the impact that the steep increase in Naivasha's population has had on the lake. 70% of
Kenya's horticultural output is produced in the Lake Naivasha area (Otiang'a–Owiti & Oswe, 2007),
which makes it an area of extreme national economic importance. Due to this thriving industry, the
lake's population has risen from an estimated 7,000 in the 1969, to approximately 300,000 in 2007
(Ouma Oloo, 2007). This rapid population growth has had effects on many components of the
ecosystem, including changes in lake levels and water composition, loss of habitats, introduction of
alien species and decline in many species

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Foreign Direct Investment...
Research Paper Foreign Direct Investment should be allowed in India in order to complete the cycle
of Globalization and integration of Markets across the globe as well as to benefit India. Foreign
Direct Investment refers to the type of investment into a country that is characterized by the inflow
of funds from a foreign source that can be in the form of ownership such as stocks, bonds,
infrastructural presence, etc. by the element of 'control'. FDI is defined as the net inflows of
investment to acquire a management interest (10 percent or more of voting stock) in an enterprise

The new firms entering the market may have more competitive prices in order to crack the market.
This also induces the local players in the market to better their product quality as well as make their
prices more competitive. Competition can be positive as well as negative on an economy. When the
local players are unable to keep up with the foreign firms, it can lead to the local players going out
of business. The government needs to decide at what stage of the country's market it should allow
foreign companies to enter. An ideal situation should be a time when there are a good number of
local players who are at a large scale and an organized level. If FDI is allowed in the nascent stages
of an Economy, the small local players will not be able to compete with the International players,
thus not allowing local industries to get a hold on the market. Imagine India without the Reliance or

1.1 Introduction
Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) have become an integral part of business.
Syed (2009) notes that today's business world has been deeply influenced by ICTs and the
application of ICT among businesses will continue to be widespread. He further notes that ICTs are
rapidly influencing global production and consumption patterns therefore suggesting that every
business must accelerate its rate of ICTs adoption if it is to increase its global competitiveness. In
the floriculture industry, adoption and application of ICTs is an important strategy according to
studies by Heratha et al. (2004). HCDA, (2013) also reckon that to make Kenya's floriculture truly
competitive, ICTs adoption will significantly lead to cost savings and efficiency improvements.
However, studies by Martsynovska (2011), Taragola and Gelb (2011) as well as Maoz (2006)
conclude that researches on the extent of adoption of ICTs in the floriculture industry are scarce. In

In 1534, the Portuguese appropriated the islands from Bahadur Shah of Gujarat. They were ceded to
Charles II of England in 1661, as dowry for Catherine de Braganza.
The population quickly rose from 10,000 in 1661, to 60,000 in 1675. In 1687, the British East India
Company transferred its headquarters from Surat to Mumbai. The city eventually became the
headquarters of the Bombay Presidency. The opening of the Suez Canal in 1869 transformed
Bombay into one of the largest seaports on the Arabian Sea. Over the next thirty years, the city grew
into a major urban centre, spurred by an improvement in infrastructure and the construction of many
of the city's institutions. The population of the city swelled to one million by 1906, making it the
second largest in India after Calcutta.
As capital of the Bombay Presidency, it was a major base for the Indian independence movement,
with the Quit India Movement called by Mahatma Gandhi in 1942 being its most rubric event. After
India's independence in 1947, it became the capital of Bombay State.
In the 1950 the city expanded to its present limits by incorporating parts of Salsette island which lay

Introduction
Horticulture, as an industry, is divided on the basis of crop and plant use. Horticulture can be
divided into two groups including edible plants and aesthetic plants which means those grown for
their beauty. Floriculture is the cultivation and management of cut flowers, flowering plants, and
foliage plants. When the horticulture or intensive agriculture performed by women, they are
recognized as less important. However, historically women's roles were equally if not more
important than those of men. Women were given high respect and equality in horticulture ancient

Neoliberalism: Effects of Neoliberal Policies on Kenyan Workers
There have been economic transitions across the world, characterized by various changes in
industrialization, trading methods and policies. These changes are normally controlled by political
systems. Capitalism is the most common system in the current world economy. As defined by
Bhattacharya (2015), capitalism is a political and economic system in which the industry and trade
of a country are controlled by private profit oriented owners instead of the state. Prior to revolution
of capitalism, pre–capitalist modes of production dominated the economy in most of the world
countries. The pre–capitalist modes of production were chattel slavery and feudalism. As argued by
Marx (1867), primitive accumulation led to the transformation of pre–capitalist to capitalist modes
of production. According to Bhattacharya (2015), there are two types of capitalism. They are liberal
and neoliberal capitalism. Liberal capitalism is a type of capitalism in which economic and political
policies favor freedom of individuals, governments and non–governmental organizations, social and
economic institutions, promoting individual rights and civil liberties, and unrestricted development
in all spheres of human endeavor. Neoliberal capitalism is a modified form of liberal capitalism in
which the political and economic

Renaissance Floral Design Essay
The Renaissance Floral Design time period lasted from 1400 A.D. until 1600 A.D. This is a time
period where ideas would be relatively similar. However, this is due to the fact that it had been the
rebirth of art. This rebirth of art would include the rebirth of of floriculture and its practices, many
of which remain true to this day.
To begin, we examine the background of where this time period had originated. During this time,
the Renaissance was in full swing in Europe. Renaissance itself means "rebirth". Across the world,
this rebirth would be seen throughout the arts. The most focused on would be the literature and
painting aspects of society. However, as we are studying, there is also the rebirth in floriculture's
purpose. Had it not been for this time period, the art of floriculture may have grown entirely extinct.
Thus, this time period is said to be one of the most important in regards to the prevailing sentiments
it has left behind.
On the contrary, there was the side of originality. In this time period, there had not been an
exceeding amount of new developments to the floriculture community. This is due to the fact that
this time period had brought back to of the classics. These two classics were the Roman and Greek
styles. This time period would be the "rebirth" or duplication of ... Show more content on

which was emotion. Therefore, these designs are seen to have expressed passionate feelings such as

Two main challenge I expect to face is not having many students enrolled in classes and the next
challenge is dealing with the fact that many people think that agriculture is only based around
farming. A lot of people grow up learning that agriculture is based only off farming which is so
untrue there are many more jobs within agriculture such as farm and land appraiser, veterinarians, to
even farm news reporters. By offering classes in high school students will be able to learn that this is
in fact false, but farming is a huge part in agriculture. I expect to see opportunities opening in
agricultural education by having more schools offering agricultural classes. This will help get more
students to enroll in agriculture classes especially if they live in a strong agricultural based
community. Another opportunity that I see happening within agricultural education is the continuous
change in technology. With advanced technology we will be able to do more research not only
inside the classroom but also outside of the classroom. Getting better technology can help with
animal research to growing plants in the green house which can lead into more research
opportunities for students. These are just a few of the most important challenges and opportunities I

Zimbabwe : A Landlocked Country Essay Zimbabwe is a landlocked country, centrally situated in Southern Africa and sharing borders with Mozambique (to the East), South Africa (to the South), Botswana (to the West) and Zambia (to the North). With a population of about 12 million people, the country's literacy rate is over 90% and ranked number one in Africa by UN Standards (2010). • 6. Coffee Crisis in Kenya Essay INTRODUCTION For many years, Kenya has been famous for its coffee. Described as strong in body and intense in flavor, Kenyan coffee, which belongs to the Arabica variety, is considered one of the world's most consistent sources of high–grade caffeine. And because of its good cash returns to local farmers, coffee has traditionally occupied a large share of the country's most productive lands, grown mostly on rich, red volcanic soil in areas with high and well distributed rainfall. However, the story has changed in the past decade. Like other nations, Kenya's coffee sector, which used to be the country's prime foreign exchange earner, has been badly affected by plummeting world prices and now trails behind horticulture, tea and tourism in ... Coffee board of Kenya (CBK) data indicates that the average F.O.B. price of re–graded coffee was US$6.81/Kg in 2002, more than four times the auction average of US$1.54/Kg. Experts have attributed the drastic fall in coffee prices on the international markets to the oversupply of beans, which has not been matched by demand. However, according to the British charity, Oxfam, the issue is more to do with fair global trade than just market demand and supply factors. In a report it released in September 2002, Oxfam stated that the deregulation of the coffee industry had pushed millions of coffee farmers in the developing world to destitution, while "the coffee companies are laughing all the way to the bank". It is heartening that so many businesses depend on coffee. Direct, middle and long–term effects on social economic and environmental fronts would be devastating. It will be imperative that any policies and decisions made by the government will have producers' interests at heart. Otherwise, we won't have any coffee to sell in the next 3 years. Also, there are initiatives that are geared to setting up of different trade avenues, with a view to earning better premiums, and passing benefits realized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

International Capital Movement CHAPTER 1 ABSTRACT: Existing studies reveals that the huge surge in international capital flows since early 1990s has created unprecedented opportunities for the developing countries like India to achieve accelerated economic growth. International financial institutions routinely advise developing countries to adopt policy regimes that encourage capital inflows. Since the introduction of the reform process in the early 1990s, India has witnessed a significant increase in capital inflows. The size of net capital inflows to India increased from US $ 7.1 billion in 1990–91 to US $ 108.0 billion in 2007–08. Today, India has one of the highest net capital inflows among the EMEs of Asia. Throughout most of the 1970s the Mid– Valley Spartans football team played home games at the Valley View stadium. In the late 1970s, they began to play home games on a football field on a playground in Fern Hill. This was a makeshift stadium of sorts. There was not a complete fence around the area. People paid admission using the honor system. There were aluminum bleachers near East Grant Street. There was no press box. A school bus was parked behind the bleachers. The people who would normally be in a press box stood on top of the roof of the bus. At half time the football team used to go to the nearby fire station, Eureka Hose Company No. 4. • 20. When Recruiting An Administrator And The Other Employees When recruiting an administrator, several considerations come into play. An administrator is broadly responsible for the efficiency in terms of the company's running. This means they are the link between top management and the other employees. They ensure smooth flow of information, be it from the management down, or from the employees up. In other words, they are instrumental in ensuring smooth flow of the company as well as maintaining file records of all employees and clients. Reasonably, beyond having the necessary technical and academic training as, they must possess other distinctive skills. Their ability to properly manage themselves, their time and those around them. They should be thoroughly organised especially considering they are responsible for maintaining company records and files. They also must have a level of creativity that allows them to effectively deal with the dynamic challenges that surround the business world (Smith & Mounter, 2008). The business environment is characterised by challenges that require quick solutions. An administrator must have the ability to properly look into situations and quickly come up with solutions. During the interview, interviewers will pose hypothetical real–life situations. Based on the proficiency and articulacy one approaches and defends it, they will indicate one's level of creativity and efficiency. In the course of their duties, an administrator meets with a lot of people ranging from clients to fellow employees. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has long since a agricultural producer and has been growing steadily throughout the years as a metropolitan area. This paper will focus on the actual land itself mainly looking at the geological history, glacial formations, streams, wind landforms, groundwater, climate, soil, vegetation, agriculture, tourism, and a small summary of the community of the area of Kalamazoo. For the first paragraph we shall have a quick focus on the geological history of the area of Kalamazoo. The main deposits and formations of the Kalamazoo area where formed during the Wisconsin glaciation period. Now the deposits are actually due to two lobes during this period, the lobes are the Lake Michigan and Saginaw lobe. Kalamazoo is actually know as a "reentrant district" due to the presence of two different lobes materials. During the middle of the Wisconsin Ice Age the Lake Michigan lobe was extending southeastward, while the Saginaw lobe was extending southwest. With the meeting of the two lobes an interlobate developed between the terminals of the lobes. It is also thought that the two lobes overlapped each other. With the Saginaw lobe covering the Kalamazoo area first and then retreating while the Lake Michigan lobe then covered the area. There are also some bedrock formations in the area as well, these formations were established during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Socially responsible companies consider the full scope of their impact on communities and the environment when making decisions, balancing the needs of stakeholder with their need to make profit. A company's stakeholders are all those who are influenced by and can influence a company's decisions and action, both locally and globally. Some would argue that the only reason to take on social projects is for utilitarian reasons, such as currying favor with the public or with government, or to improve market standing. Others, such as the philosopher Michael E. Berumen, suggest that a business is property belonging to the owners, not stakeholders, and that a business is not equivalent to a mini–state for the purpose of creating social justice or carrying out social planning, and that the owners have the right to dispose of their property as they see fit within the limits of morality, including for profit, social good, or both. Proponents of CSR would suggest a number of reasons why self interested corporations, seeking to solely to maximize profits are unable to advance the interests of society as a whole: Corporations care little for the welfare of the workers, and given the opportunity will move production to sweatshops in less well regulated countries. Unchecked, companies will squander scarce resources. Companies do not pay the full costs of their impact. For example the costs of cleaning pollution often fall on society in general. As a result profits of corporations are enhanced at the expense of social or ecological welfare. Regulation is the best way to ensure that companies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As I grew up, my answer to the question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" never changed: the answer was always a veterinarian. I know that a lot of little girls say that they want to be vets to help animals, but when they find out that they have to deal with gore or put an animal to sleep they change their minds. However, when I realized what being a vet truly meant, it just made me more determined to reach that goal. I want to help animals and see the joy of the animal's owner when they get their beloved pet back. As I grew older, I began to watch many vet shows on television. My favorites are "The Incredible Dr. Pol" and "The Vet Life." While watching these shows, my mom would always ask me, "Are you sure you want to do that?" My answer was always "Yes!" These television shows only reveal a tiny part of what it means to be a vet and have only reinforced my decision to become a vet. I started volunteering at my local animal shelter when I turned fourteen. I sought out jobs like cleaning kennels or washing dogs because I felt that this would contribute the most to the animal's well–being. I volunteered at the shelter as often as I could. ... Spirituality And Mysticism In Varanasi 'Banaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together.'–Mark Twain Benaras, Kashi or Varanasi, whatever it may be called, this city has been enthralling people from far and wide, since ages. The spirituality and mysticism of Varanasi, epitomizes everything Indian in a different and better way than many other cities. Though it is considered as one of the oldest living cities of the world, yet it presents an incomparable blend of tradition and modernism existing side by side. With the majestic Ghats on the banks of the "Mokshdayini" Ganga, the temples, the narrow by lanes, the art, culture, food and the people; Varanasi keeps unfolding itself like a maze ,which is what attracts the world to Varanasi. With the aim to take the city along the path of growth, development and to showcase to the world that Varanasi is much more than temples and ghats, I spent three weeks in Varanasi as a district attachment program. There are two ways to counter this risk viz. financial instruments and crop genetic improvement. For biological vulnerability, a suitable pesticide or weed management is the obvious solution. Market outreach is possible with digital technology and smart warehouses (Ahmad and Jamshed 2015a). Majority of farmers, if suffering from major diseases due to exposure to hazardous and unhealthy work environment, should get regular health care, insurance and epidemiological facilitation. Government subsidies do help the farmers provided those really reach the targeted farmers fully and timely. The aim of financial inclusion and sustainable growth is to cover these family farmers. Government move to open their bank accounts for giving direct transfer to the beneficiaries is the first step. Regular subsidy doses to cover all the farmers' risks will not serve the purpose. The input suppliers, service providers, banks, insurance companies, procurement agencies, market functionaries, SHGs, warehouses and commodity exchanges all are to be connected with family farmers through proper linkages. The FTD business model is based on receiving orders at an originating florist, and transmitting the order to a florist local to the delivery address. There are several key differences between FTD and Calyx & Corolla. FTD retains about 7% of the final sale price, with the majority going to the receiving and delivering florists. By comparison, Calyx & Corolla retains 80% of the price of the flowers, with 20% going directly to the grower. However, the principle difference between Calyx & Corolla is that while FTD retains over 20,000 florists within the United States, Calyx & Corolla is not directly affiliated with florists, but has strong ties to the fresh flower growers themselves. Calyx & Corolla have decided to go the other way from the traditional model of selling fresh flowers, somewhat side–stepping direct competition with major retail players. Traditional retail stores cannot strictly be classified as competitors, because of their different operating methods. While retailers rely on consumers setting foot into their stores, Calyx & Corolla reaches out to its target market by way of catalogs, telemarketing, and in some cases, promotional tie–ins with selected retail stores. Even the approach of FTD follows more closely the traditional retail model than that of Calyx & Corolla. • 51. Factors Affecting The Biodiversity Of The Lake Many lakes across the globe are home to a wide variety of organisms, which are supported by both the lakes themselves and by the abundance of varying habitats surrounding them. Lake Naivasha (0°45'N, 36°20'E) is one such lake: Situated within the rift valley, Lake Naivasha is a freshwater home to an abundance of both native and alien flora and fauna, both aquatic and terrestrial (Otiang'a–Owiti & Oswe, 2007). The lake has 3 main surface inflows; from the Malewa, Gilgil and Karati rivers, but is an endorheic lake (Otiang'a–Owiti & Oswe, 2007); so is a closed hydrological system on the surface (Figure 1). Nevertheless, it is thought that water from the lake does move southward underground, through volcanic rocks (Clarke et al., 1990, Ojiambo et al., 2001). There are various factors that contribute to the biodiversity of the lake; however one the most predominant factors is the impact that the steep increase in Naivasha's population has had on the lake. 70% of Kenya's horticultural output is produced in the Lake Naivasha area (Otiang'a–Owiti & Oswe, 2007), which makes it an area of extreme national economic importance. Due to this thriving industry, the lake's population has risen from an estimated 7,000 in the 1969, to approximately 300,000 in 2007 (Ouma Oloo, 2007). This rapid population growth has had effects on many components of the ecosystem, including changes in lake levels and water composition, loss of habitats, introduction of alien species and decline in many species ... Impact Of Neoliberal Policies On Kenyan Workers Neoliberalism: Effects of Neoliberal Policies on Kenyan Workers Miriti Moses August 20th, 2016 Neoliberalism: Effects of Neoliberal Policies on Kenyan Workers There have been economic transitions across the world, characterized by various changes in industrialization, trading methods and policies. These changes are normally controlled by political systems. Capitalism is the most common system in the current world economy. As defined by Bhattacharya (2015), capitalism is a political and economic system in which the industry and trade of a country are controlled by private profit oriented owners instead of the state. Prior to revolution of capitalism, pre–capitalist modes of production dominated the economy in most of the world countries. The pre–capitalist modes of production were chattel slavery and feudalism. As argued by Marx (1867), primitive accumulation led to the transformation of pre–capitalist to capitalist modes of production. According to Bhattacharya (2015), there are two types of capitalism. They are liberal and neoliberal capitalism. Liberal capitalism is a type of capitalism in which economic and political policies favor freedom of individuals, governments and non–governmental organizations, social and economic institutions, promoting individual rights and civil liberties, and unrestricted development in all spheres of human endeavor. Neoliberal capitalism is a modified form of liberal capitalism in which the political and economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I had no general idea of what I wanted to do but knew I would want to attend a college near my hometown. I was active in my FFA serving as the chapter historian and was an active member for four years prior to becoming an officer. While being on the officer team and taking an abundance of agriculture classes I learned how much of a passion I would have for agriculture. That spring I had attended Career Development Events for FFA competing in food science and technology and the following year I participated in floriculture. Two main challenge I expect to face is not having many students enrolled in classes and the next challenge is dealing with the fact that many people think that agriculture is only based around farming. A lot of people grow up learning that agriculture is based only off farming which is so untrue there are many more jobs within agriculture such as farm and land appraiser, veterinarians, to even farm news reporters. By offering classes in high school students will be able to learn that this is in fact false, but farming is a huge part in agriculture. I expect to see opportunities opening in agricultural education by having more schools offering agricultural classes. This will help get more students to enroll in agriculture classes especially if they live in a strong agricultural based community. Another opportunity that I see happening within agricultural education is the continuous change in technology. With advanced technology we will be able to do more research not only inside the classroom but also outside of the classroom. Getting better technology can help with animal research to growing plants in the green house which can lead into more research opportunities for students. These are just a few of the most important challenges and opportunities I will have to face as an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
