This study investigates antibiotic resistance trends and extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) production among uropathogens from outpatients in Uyo, Nigeria, revealing a high prevalence of multi-drug resistance and ESBL production at 35.7% and 32.7%, respectively. Isolates were predominantly resistant to cefotaxime and most sensitive to imipenem, with a notable higher prevalence of ESBL production in female patients. The research highlights the urgent need for effective management strategies to address antibiotic resistance and treatment failures in urinary tract infections.
