This is the presentation I used for my talk at the IDCAMP.
I tried to put together two things:
- an analysis of the new practices we need to create enduring and impacting enterprise in a time of radical change
- a practical 10 rules guide to be adopted.
All the material produced on my own is CC-BY-NC.
On Tuesday the 23rd of October, I had the honor and pleasure to speak on the subject of gLocality and innovation at the Udine’s DITEDI (District of Digital Technologies) born in a corner of Italy where the concentration of companies that are somehow involved in innovation and digital is awesome, one of the largest in Europe.
During my speech, I first introduced the correlation between the digitization of the economy, democratization, cooperation and resilience (in a context of access to resources that will become increasingly problematic in the future) and then moved on to the topic of companies transformation.
Generating a more resilient culture of entrepreneurship, striving for a "Future Proof Enterprise" (I already dealt with this in the past) the very same long term business that Fred Wilson is teaching in the Valley thanks to its "How to stay in business Forever " skillshare class: this is the innovation to look for right now.
This innovation quest, however, passes not only trough the acquisition of new learning tools, (such as lean thinking and agile practice) but also trough a more or less radical cultural change as local administrators have correctly guessed during the introduction.
I finished with three clear rules to be followed:
enable cross-fertlizzation through physically and logically shared creative contexts (such as Coworking, Fablabs or Hackerspaces)
focus on your own unique culture, nurture local, trustable relations and seek for local impact,in the long-term
foster an entrepreneurial mindset and teach job creation rather than job search (“make a job”).

It's a walkthrough the IYWTo platform we are building to map and promote digital projects to act on climate change. Is the connected company just a far vision or existing reality? Why is it relevant for Marketing? What challenges are waiting on the way to become a connected company?
These questions aren't quite new, neither are the answers. But nowadays the customers act and communicate in different ways than in the past. They want you to solve their problems on every channel you can imagine. You have to shine on every touchpoint and integrate their ideas.
To manage and handle all these information it's necessary to be well connected within your company. But not all companies are on the same level yet. There are many ways to become a "Connected Company" but you have to overcome hurdles and master challenges.
In the session we had a short view on how a connected company can look like and some factors to succeed.

For an operational database, Spark is like Batman’s utility belt: it handles a variety of important tasks from data cleanup and migration to analytics and machine learning that make the operational database much more powerful than it would be on its own. In this talk, we describe the Couchbase Spark Connector that lets you easily integrate Spark with Couchbase Server, an open source distributed NoSQL document database that provides low latency data management for large scale, interactive online applications. We’ll start with common use cases for Spark and Couchbase, then cover the basics of creating, persisting and consume RDDs and DataFrames from Couchbase’s key/value and SQL interfaces.

Crowdsourcing is an online, distributed problem solving and production model that revolutionized the internet and mobile market at present. It turns the customers into designer and marketers. The practice of Crowdsourcing is transforming the web and giving rise to a new field. Today the leading enterprises are embracing the next paradigm shift in the distribution of work by outsourcing to the crowd in the cloud. Everyday millions of people make all kind of voluntary online contribution. With the number of people online approaching 3 billion by 2016 and projected to reach 5 billion by 2020, new workforce has emerged that are now used for different purposes. Available on-demand this workforce has abundant capacity and the expertise knowledge to perform work from simple to complex and solve problems and grand challenges. This paper gives an introduction to Crowdsourcing, its theoretical grounding, model and examples with case study. In this paper we show that Crowdsourcing can be applied to wide variety of problems and that it raises numerous interesting technical and social challenges. Finally this paper proposes an agenda for using Crowdsourcing in NLP.

This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation.
