customs, practices and
behavior that exists
within a population.

A business environment where participants from
different countries or regions interact, bringing
different values, viewpoints and business
practices. Often this setting requires substantial
training and employee support

  • 2. • One of the most important reason for expatriate failure. • Studies show 30-40% expatriate failure due to cultural inflexibility (Cross-Cultural adjustments) • Selection of wrong candidate
  • 3. Culture Mental programming that we inherit from our ancestors and pick up from the people around us. the ideas, customs, and social behavior of a particular people or society

  • 5. Cultural environment • A set of beliefs, customs, practices and behavior that exists within a population.
  • 6. Cross cultural environment A business environment where participants from different countries or regions interact, bringing different values, viewpoints and business practices. Often this setting requires substantial training and employee support
  • 7. Cultural differences Understanding cultural differences are often the determining factor in success or failure in business “There is nothing good or bad about culture. There are only differences”
  • 8. Forming a successful cross culture environment • Not to be blinded by cultural glasses, cultural misunderstanding • Do with politeness • Not to be disturbed by others • Not about what you see what you perceive • standing in someone's shoes

Suitability • The most required competency in any expatriate is Cross Cultural Suitability, Cultural empathy. • Others – Linguistic, cope with uncertainty, building relationships, maturity, patience • High suitability = Adaptive training system effective Suitability – Tailor made, customized and fit to the environment
