Super High Me by Micahel Blieden
In this documentary, Super High Me directed by Michael Blieden, he gives an interesting
argument on how marijuana affects one individual. In this film, he shows that in one month,
while using marijuana, the negative mental and physical changes that take effect. For this
documentary, he chooses Doug Benson, a comedian who uses marijuana on a regular bases.
What he wanted Benson to do was not smoke for the first 30 days, then have him smoke
continues through the next 30 days. This film was made to tell people if they smoked marijuana
every day throughout their lives, it would affect their lungs but not do any mental damage. It s a
spinoff of Super Size Me, which was showing you how eating fast food for 30 days is bad for you.
Beforehand starting this experiment, Benson was not sober. The experiment timeline goes for 60
days. For the first 30 days he cannot smoke any marijuana. The next 30 days, he is required to
smoke marijuana everyday. Throughout the days, when smoking and non smoking, he will be
tested academically, physically, and psychologically.
This documentary was based off the movie Super Size Me, directed by Morgan Spurlock. In Super
Size Me; Morgan Spurlock eats McDonalds for every meal for 30 days. To see how fast food in
that amount affects the body. Doug smoked for 30 days straight, to see what would happen to him.
During the first 30 days, Doug was required to stay clean. Within the first week, he talks to his
audience on how difficult it has been not to

Prison Gangs
Prison Gangs
Prison Gangs
According to (Wikipedia) a prison gang is a term used to identify any type of gang activity in
prisons and correctional facilities. The difference between prison gangs and street gangs has
become unclear because gang members are in and out of the prison system according to the (Street
Gangs and Interventions: Innovative Problem Solving with Network Analysis, Office of
Community Oriented Policing Services, 2005). Prison gangs offer more than just simple protection
for the members in prison; many prison gangs are responsible for drug, tobacco and other
contraband handling. Prison gangs often seek to intimidate other inmates and bribe or intimidate

Bangers sent to prison come out looking bigger, stronger, with new enemies, and are hungry to get
back on the streets. In an article written by (Steven Krytak from the Austin Legal) there were 18
gang members of Texas prisons that were indicted. In Austin there was a mass roundup of
Mexican Mafia members and the authorities were able to round up 18 members of this gang. The
gang was known for conspiring to distribute cocaine and heroin. The Mexican Mafia members in
Austin dominate the Texas prisons throughout the state. The gang recruits members while in
prison and upon release that individual will join the street gang. Some of the members who
were taken into custody were suspects in a killing of a 35 year old man. During this round up
there were multiple suspects taken into custody for murders, drug related charges, many of which
were distributing cocaine. In the same article it talks about last year in San Antonio three
members were involved in committing nearly two dozen murders. These are the people who are
in the prison systems in Texas. Imagine those individuals who join while in prison and are
released into society. During this round up the Mexican Mafia General Jacinto Navajar and two
lieutenants were found guilty of conspiracy; both were sentenced to life in prison. Many gangs are

Beginning Of Baseball Essay
The Beginning of Baseball There are an abundant amount of sports played by women, men, and
children of all ages. Basketball, football, soccer, golf, tennis, and plenty of other sports are played
with some shape of a ball. Baseball, America s ironic sport, had proved to be a popular sport to
both watch and play
When baseball was first made and people played the sport, people would go to the ballpark and
watch the games. As things become more advance as the years went by, people could not only
listen to a baseball game on radio but on television also. The first new invention that came out
advertising baseball was the telegraph, which transfer messages between two baseball teams. This
helped the coaches plan a day to play a game and return news. The latest is Television, which
shows sound and images of the baseball game you want to capture! You do not have to leave or

Alcoholism In The Sun Also Rises
The Sun Also Rises is a deceiving novel. Opening with absolutely riveting scenes such as
characters drinking in a cafГ©, characters drinking in a speakeasy, and characters drinking in hotel
rooms, the reader can easily confuse the novel for reality television in print form. But what lies
under these scenes are actually calls of help resonating from the characters. The reason for this
desperation is that Hemingway and his characters are members of The Lost Generation.
Dictionary.com defines this group as men and women who came of age during or immediately
following World War I . Due to WWI causing this abrupt upheaval, many people became
disillusioned with their previous civilian lives; resulting in unhealthy coping mechanisms such as

There are a few reasons why this is the case. Firstly, the Count is part of a different generation
from the rest of the characters. Analysed by Outi Hakola and Sari Kivistö, Mippipopolous is in
his seventies due to being twenty one during Britain s 1868 expedition to Abyssinia (25). Due to
his age, Mippipopolous has had decades to cope with the tragedies of war compared to the few
years The Lost Generation has had. Shown when Mippipopolous says I have been around very
much. I have been around a very great deal (Hemingway 52), It is entirely possible the Count
faced the same issues in life; the difference being, however, Mippipopolous scars are faded
compared to the fresh wounds of the younger generation. Secondly, Mippipopolous has the funds
befitting of a count. When offering Brett ten thousand dollars to go to Biarritz (28),
Mippipopolous shows that he has little to no financial worries; unlike characters such as Mike
Campbell, who sullied away his family inheritance after the war. Following Maslow s Hierarchy
of Needs, this forms a foundation of safety that allows the comfort needed to focus on one s self,
and not just the day to day issues that others face. Finally, Mippipopolous is one of the few
characters that does not show any romantic feelings nor jealousy towards a specific person.
Instead, when asked if he s never fallen in love, the Count cryptically

Essay on Persuasive Speech Against Video Games
Thesis: The rise of the video game has had many negative effects on children.
INTRODUCTION
Attention getter: Whenever I look out from my window at home, nothing but memories come
back to me. The house three doors down was the unsuspecting target of the foul balls we would
hit when we use to play home run derby. Or my basketball hoop which held many world
championships between me being the bulls and my friends being that year s runner up. In the
park across the street, I ended up blackmailing my neighbor, who was a few years older than me,
into letting me play football with him and his friends. That s how much I loved to be outside and

In Grand Theft Auto, you run a round picking up jobs in an imaginary city. These jobs range
from killing union workers to stealing pricy automobiles. In Conker s Bad Fur day, you play as
a playful cartoon squirrel that drinks beer and urinates on the enemy to defeat him. In the
Journal of the American Medical Association, 90% of the games played today actually reward
the player to injure another person and these were the games rated Teen. These types of
gratuitous violence portrayed in video games transfer over into the everyday lives of these
children. Studies of children exposed to violence have shown that they can become: immune or
numb to the horror of violence, imitate the violence they see, and show more aggressive
behavior the more they re exposed to violence. Some children accept violence as a way to handle
problems. Studies have also shown that the more realistic and repeated the exposure to violence,
the greater the impact on children. For instance, a child in Kentucky ended up bringing a revolver
to school and shot 8 students. Police ended up pin pointing the source to the video games the child
had been playing. The child ended up raking in more than 10,000 hours of a shoot em up style game
that rewarded bonus points for headshots.
Even if the games are not violent, another side effect that video games have on the health of
children is with exercising. In a

Alcoholic husbands in India beat their wives for multiple reasons, for demanding their wives to
provide them with money to drink from the meager and inadequate funds that they have to spend on
their families, for stopping their wives from nagging them for drinking too much and influencing
the children wrongly.
Social Norms in Beating
Indian society is a highly patriarchal society and has always given men more rights over women. In
such situations the woman begins to feel helpless and her life meaningless, this instigates the
husband to feel more powerful and dominant. Moreover economically backward and illiterate
families have the problems of bad relationships between the mother in law and daughter in law,
where the husband siding with his mother, finds it right to hit his wife to teach her a lesson.
Reaction of Women to Domestic Violence
a) Passively
A passive woman says nothing and allows the abuse to continue. She becomes the abuser s enabler.
She grows weaker and allows the abuser to grow stronger. Her passivity prolongs the loss of her
own honor and dignity, and encourages the abuse to continue.
b) Aggressively
An abused woman has every right to be angry at her husband, but far too often, her righteous anger
deteriorates into a sinful rage that seeks revenge. Her response might include anything from filing

An Overview Of Optimization
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
This chapter is discussed about the project background, the problem of the project, the objective of
the project and project scope.
1.1PROJECT MOTIVATION
With the development of artificial intelligence in recent years, there has been a growing interest in
algorithms inspired by the observation of natural phenomena. We can see that all the algorithms are
good replacements as method to solve complex computational problems.
Various heuristic approaches have been adopted by researches including genetic algorithm(Holland
1975), simulated annealing (Kirkpatrick et al. 1983), immune system (Farmer et al. 1986), ant
system (Dorigo et al. 1996) and particle swarm optimization (Kennedy and Eberhart 1995; Kennedy
and Eberhart 1997).
All the above heuristics involve the desired problem solution from iterative cycles of iterations
between the population members. Unfortunately, no algorithm can solve all the optimization
problems and have some algorithms can be the best solution for a few problems than the others.
Optimization problems are widely encountered in various fields in science and technology.
Sometimes such problems can be very complex due to the actual and practical nature of the
objective function or the model constraints. Most of power system optimization problems have
complex and nonlinear characteristics with heavy equality and inequality constraints.
Optimization is the important process to many systems in industry and it will produce

The Case Law On Horizontal Direct Effect Of Directives
The CJEU case law on horizontal direct effect of directives arguably lacks consistency in regards
to the application of the general principle. The principle of direct effect was established in Van
Gend en Loos v. Nederlandse Administratie der Belastingen. Although there is no set definition
of direct effect, a broader definition was provided in Van Gend en Loos that it can be expressed as
the capacity of a provision of EU law to be invoked before a national court. However, Van Dyun v.
Home Office established that directives are capable of direct effect. Furthermore, Marshall v.
Southampton established that there could only be vertical direct effect of directives. This
stringent principle has arguable ignited the highly contested debate of whether or not horizontal
direct effect is applicable to directives or if directives could only have vertical direct effect.
However, this essay shall explore the lack of consistency in case law regarding horizontal direct
effect of directives. Firstly, this paper will delve into the case law of the topic of horizontal direct
effect of directives in efforts to try to highlight its consistency in its approach. Secondly, the paper
will use case law and the opinion of academics (enter the name of the academics later) to highlight
its inconsistencies using the legal mechanisms that have been introduced by the Courts to try to
compensate for the lack of horizontal direct effect of directives. Namely, indirect effect, incidental

Protons And Neutrons
Atoms are made up of electrons, protons and neutrons. Protons have positive charge; electrons have
negative charge and neutrons are neutral. The magnitude of charges of protons and neutrons is the
same. Protons and neutrons are found in the nucleus, while the electrons moves around it. Mass
number is addition of the protons and neutrons. Atomic number is the number of protons. [1] The
mass of an atomis less than the number we obtain by adding up the masses of all the protons and
neutrons. This is the binding energy. The nucleus of an atom determines if it is stable or unstable.
The higher the binding energy, the more stable an atom is. Unstable nuclei are radioactive, where
they decay until they form stable nuclei. They emit different particles to form more stable daughter
nuclei.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alpha particles are composed of 2 protons and also 2 neutrons. It has a plus 2 charge. They are
the nucleus of a helium atom. When an unstable nuclei releases an alpha particle, the mass
number decreases by 4, and the atomic number decreases by 2. This means that a new element
forms due to this emission. Alpha particles are released by relatively large nuclei. [3] It can travel
across the air, however does not travel well in solid. Alpha particles are able to ionize the solid that
it is passing through. [4] Beta particles occurs when an unstable nuclei emits an electron, which has
a negative charge. To conserve the charges in the atom, one of the neutrons in the nucleus
spontaneously changes into a proton. The mass number stays the same, however, the atomic
number increases by 1. [3] This also means that a new element forms. It can travel through air and
compared to alpha particles, they can penetrate through solid matter more, however its ionization
ability is less than the alpha particles. [4] The other type of emission is gamma rays. Gamma rays
are photons; they are a

My Strong Latino Accent Is Important For Our Unique...
It was one said by Napoleon Hill that, Strength and growth come only through continuous effort
and struggle. Truly, haven I not experience the many challenges that the year of 2015 had for me,
I would probably not have been allowed do growth in areas that I least expected. One particularly
challenge that arose in 2015, has been the most emotionally wounded, and yet difficult to embraced;
and truthfully I have continuously been in effort to overcome. My strong Hispanic accent is
something that I inevitably could not erase however, the various comments that come with my way
of verbally expressing has often made me feel insignificant, and incompetent at times. Conversely,
with the help of one of my professor at Biola University, I have come to learned that ascents should
not diminish our unique capabilities that we have within ourselves. Moreover, I have gained an
aspect of being open minded, and surrounded myself in activities that involved expressing verbally.
Truthfully, this particularly challenge made me fruitful personally and professionally. Personally, I
have been able to seek areas of improvement and have taken the harsh remarks as a source of
motivation to strive to become both a betterperson and a better scholar. As to the professional
aspect, I have learned that often in the professional world individuals may not be of accordance
with a certain idea or, they might even seek to discourage ones ideas, but one should not see their
comments as a discouragement,

Environmental Ethics And Its Impact On The Environment
ntroduction and Thesis
Environmental ethics is a branch of philosophy that examines human relationships to, and the ways
they interact with, the environment. When it was noticed, that the increasing world population was
negatively impacting the environment, as well as the use of pesticides, technology and
industrialization, environmental ethics emerged as a field of study. Environmental ethics takes into
consideration the value and moral standing of the environment and its non human entities. It
focuses on the value humans place on nature and defines their moral and ethical obligations to it,
and there place in it.
Moral standing is when value is placed on certain things and this value is used to determine if
something is morally acceptable or not. Humans have moral standing when they do something for
the individuals sake and not for their or someone else benefit. There are different ethical approaches
that focus on the morality (right or wrong) of human behavior and their impact on the environment,
and this paper covers five that will argue for the best suited to resolve environmental issues. This
paper argues that Ecocentric Ethics is the best approach to environmental ethics.
Explanation of Views
This section examines the theories of Immanuel Kant, Tom Regan, Peter Singer, Paul Taylor, Aldo
Leopold, and Arne Naess. These philosophers have different approaches to environmental ethics,
and this paper discusses what constitutes moral standing, who or what deserves it,

Criminal Behavior And The Justice System Essay
Incarceration rates are extremely costly and the rates of incarceration are alarmingly high in the
United States. Individuals engage in criminal behaviors for many reasons. Although the reasons
are numerous and vary, the justice system has attempted to narrow down the causes of criminal
behavior. The justice system has also put into place specialty courts that are designed to better
address these particular causes of criminal behavior. The goal of these courts is to better address
the individual s reason that they engaged in criminal behavior in hopes that with the additional
support, in the future the individual will become a productive member of society. What are
specialty Courts? Specialty courts are becoming more and more popular throughout the country.
Specialty courts are also commonly referred to as problem solving courts. These courts mainly
focus on a specific type of criminal offense or a cause of a criminal offense. Specialty courts
differ from the traditional court system. Traditional court systems are not always equipped to
effectively deal with certain needs of the offenders that they come into contact with. Specialty
courts are set up to help better address certain issues and are able to provide options that are
specific to the offender s needs. In addition, specialty courts tend to take on less severe cases,
which also help decongest the traditional system. Specialty courts usually have staff that specialize
and are trained on the specific type of court

Analysis of Bertrand RussellВґs The Problems of Philosphy...
06455401
1)
The philosopher Bertrand Russell in his work, The Problems of Philosophy, comes to some
conclusions of the truth of objects in our world. Through questioning certain ideas and problems in
our world, he breaks down what can know what really exists in the world and what does not.
Russell, an empiricist, believes that through our sensory perception of our environment. However,
our own individual perception can be skewed, and therefore is susceptible to err. Russell gives
an example of three people, one is color blind, one is sick, and one is inebriated sick, and one is
inebriated, and ask them to describe the same chair, they will all give you slightly different
answers. Then if you take that chair and put it behind a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This consistency proposes to Russell, that we, at least, must have faith in the reality of a single,
specific, real chair. To this commonsensible belief, he also goes on to propose the idea that real
objects cause the sense data we intake, so therefore must be related to them in a certain
noteworthy way. So from this what can we believe and not believe to exist? Well first of all we
can believe that, if we are looking at the chair, we can conclude the object itself is real, there is a
chair there. Our senses take in the sense data of a chair, four legs, a back rest, etc. We then take
this data and use our prior knowledge of other chair like things, and we can come to the solution
of the object we are looking at is a chair. This logic applies to all objects in such a manner.
However we cannot truly believe that certain things truly exists. Such as the fact that we cannot
truly believe the existence of certain characteristics of an objects when it s subject outside
influence, such as a chair in water. To the naked eye, the chair would look distorted, but it is not
so, the water distorts our perception of the chair, therefore deceiving our view of the reality of the
characteristics of the chair. In conclusion, Russell gives us an answer to the question, if our senses
can be easily deceived and tricked into perceiving and reality that is false, how can we believe it

There must be no barriers to freedom of inquiry. There is no place for dogma in science. The
scientist is free, and must be free to ask any question, to doubt any assertion, to seek for any
evidence, to correct any errors. Our political life is also predicated on openness. We know that
the only way to avoid error is to detect it and that the only way to detect it is to be free to inquire.
And we know that as long as [we] are free to ask what [we] must, free to say what [we] think, free
to think what [we] will, freedom can never be lost, and science can never regress. J. Robert

He obtained his PhD afterward in Germany from the prestigious University of Göttingen.
Oppenheimer was always a brooding and intense man. As a youth he suffered some degree of
torment from kids his age for his bookish tendencies. During his college years, he sustained
several bouts of depression. Looking back at his college years, Oppenheimer remarked that
virtually everything aroused a very great sense of revulsion and wrong. He had a tendency to
ask difficult questions of his professors. After his oral PhD exam, one of his evaluators was
reputed to have said that Phew, I m glad that s over. He was on the point of questioning me. In
1929 Oppenheimer returned to the United States to take up teaching positions at Berkeley and
Cal Tech. During the 30 s, Oppenheimer began to become associated with a variety of heavily
left wing organizations affiliated with Communism. This was mainly due to the repression of
several Jewish relatives in Nazi Germany. He married Katherine Harrison in 1940, who was a
member of the Communist party and had two children. He also started to distance himself from
his former leftist friends and groups. This was probably largely done to make himself more
attractive to obtaining the post of head of development for atomic bombs. Historian Daniel Kevles
called World War II the Physicist s War. World War II represented the greatest expenditure on a
physics program in history. It developed two main technologies: radar and the atomic

The Craft Beer Industry How Brew Stooges Made Their Mark...
Company Overview During this presentation we will be going into depths concerning the craft
beer industry and how Brew Stooges made their mark on the industry in Huntsville, Alabama.
Five years ago, in early 2010, there was a single brewery in Huntsville, Alabama, one brewery, and
the only of its kind to open since the repeal of national prohibition in 1933. The city literally went
for a span of 71 years without a single commercially brewed local beer.
As of June 2015, there are eight breweries in Huntsville, soon to be nine. This smallish southern
city, population 180,000, has undergone a total transformation as far as its craft brewingindustry is
concerned. Like so many other American cities, beer has come into the vogue, but few if any
can claim to have experienced such as a rapid, radical, city defining seismic shift. In just five
years, old veteran brewing presences have been established and a younger generation has come
along to reap the rewards of a clientele that continues to refine its taste. It s still very much a
work in progress, but to compare the before and after statistics is shocking. Thanks to a timely

Generational Differences In Older Generations
We didn t have birthdays like you growing up. I was gripped from the beginning of this interview
to learn about the generational differences between me and my grandmother. Donna McGuire,
my grandmother, has led a very different life than mine own due to multiple generation gaps and
geographical differences. This interview really enlightened me about the struggles that people
went through in previous years and how their childhoods were so drastically different than ours.
What was really eye opening about this interview was that not only how technology has changed
how we live but the evolution of society that makes older generations seem so distant even
though the difference in years is only around 60 years. Her first memory as a child is running
through farms in her bare feet in rural Wisconsin, which is one of her most fond ones at that.
She was a very bright young student, being the first girl chosen to be on a baseball team and
received very good grades and was involved in other extracurricular activities such as the
yearbook and the school newspaper for a brief stint. On her street growing up, birthday parties
were not a celebration as they are today, instead an opportunity for the kids on the street to get
together and eat ice cream and cupcakes, I never had a party where we did pin the tail on the
donkey or hired a clown or anything like that, I just remember being happy when it was my turn to
dole out the cupcakes and ice cream. It was a different time and

Model Of Behavior Analysis
Modeling is undoubtedly a pervasive tendency that governs a variety of human behaviors. Albert
Bandura (2006) states that modeling is an effective tool to elicit society wide change across
cultural boundaries. He goes on to say that observational learning is an evolutionary adaptation
that allows development of the self and overall functioning. By observing others, people can learn
to behave like the models that they observe (Spiegler, 2010). This is simply referred to as
imitation. Modeling requires two fundamental elements to be effective. First, an observer must be
able to see what the model did, and then the observer must be able to see what happened to the
model as a result of the behavior. By the observer observing the cause and effect... Show more

The results of a models behavior are called vicarious consequences. The vicarious consequences
of the models behavior largely dictate if the observer will model the behavior or not.
Furthermore, there are two types of vicarious consequences; vicarious reinforcement and
vicarious punishment. Vicarious reinforcement occurs when an observer witnesses a models
behavior being reinforced. When models behaviors are reinforced, observers are more likely to
model the behavior. Conversely, vicarious punishment occurs when an observer witnesses a
models behavior being punished. When models behaviors are punished, observer are less likely
to model the behavior. Also, there are several different types of models; live models and
symbolic models. Live models are models that are living people, whereas symbolic models are
indirectly observed models, such as characters on television or read about in books. An aspect of
symbolic models is covert modeling, where an individual imagines how a particular person
would perform a specific behavior, and then models it. An interesting fact about modeling is that
an individual is more likely to model a behavior is the model is similar to the observer. In other
words, the likelihood of modeling taking place is a function of similarity between observer and
model. From this discovery came self modeling therapy. With self modeling therapy, the patient
acts as both the observer and the model to optimize similarity between the two (i.e., oneself is the
most similar model to oneself). This technique has been proven to be greatly effective in treating a
host of mental disorders, with as little as 12 minutes of exposure to the model needed to have
lasting effects. Furthermore, self modeling can be conducted in several ways, including covert self
modeling and video

The Profiling Of Sex Offenders
Sex Offenders
Brittany Pegram
CJUS 340 D05 Criminology
Professor Ryan Sharp Abstract
In this paper I will discuss the typical profiling of sex offenders and how one cannot simply
point them out in a crowd. I will discuss why sex offenders do not stand out from normal people.
I will discuss a little bit of why these people do the things they do and what kind of cure there is
for these crimes, if any. It is important to know why we cannot assume one is bad news, such as a
sex offender and to find out for sure. The true meaning of you cannot judge a book by its cover
will be revealed in this paper with many examples.
Society and policy makers have long struggled with finding effective ways to protect the public
from sex offenders. A sex offender is a person who has been convicted of certain sex offense crimes.
Examples of sex offenses include:
Sexual conduct with a minor
Sexual assault
Sexual assault of spouse
Molestation of a child
Continuous sexual abuse of a child
Infamous crimes against nature
Lewd and lascivious acts
Indecent exposure/Public sexual indecenct
Taking a child for the purpose of prostitution
Sexual exploitation of a minor
Incest
Kidnapping
Aggravated assault
Murder
Unlawful imprisonment
Burglary (when the offense includes evidence of sexual motivation) (FindLaw, n.d.)
There is no such thing as a typical sex offender. Sex offenders can come in both male and female,

Colonialism And European Imperialism In The 19th Century
Imperialism is not only a movement prevalent throughout history, but also a means for Europe s
superiority complex to shine. Europe began Imperialism as a way of acquiring more land, money
and power. Then, in the 19th century, the post Enlightenment imperialism shifted to the idea that
Europeans were helping the underdeveloped and barbaric civilizations to become more modernized
and no longer backward. European Imperialismis not only about the takeover of territories for
benefit or charity. It was also about cultural Imperialism. Cultural Imperialism from modernized
countries was called Westernization. Europeans brought over not only guns, germs, and steel, but
also ideas, culture, religion and so much more. Imperialism or the fallout of Imperialism has
shaped the world today not only in the physical sense, but the ideology behind it as well. It has
encouraged racism, sexism, and the idea of nations and their peoples being better than others.
Imperialism from 1850 until the present was a bit different than in previous years. This
imperialism was driven more by cultural desires than economic desires, as in the past. Europeans
believed that by colonizing and forcing cultural practices and religion on a country that was
considered inferior, they were helping them and thereby doing God s will. One idea that came
about in 1859 was Charles Darwin s natural selection. In his work On the Origin of Species, Darwin
outlines natural selection as any variation, however slight and

Essay On Maus Propaganda
Propaganda made a great impact on World War II society. Propaganda was used intently during
World War II and was particularly important because it allowed the government to control citizen
s thoughts and beliefs about the war. Propaganda is defined as information or ideas that promote
a point of view, group, belief, etc. Usually, it is either misleading or biased in order to portray a
desired viewpoint for people to believe. In the war, the government utilized propaganda to make
citizens believe that the war was worth fighting for, even though that wasn t the case. They did so
by creating propaganda that advocated for unification, domination of the enemy, and war
employment opportunities, to name a few. Maus by Art Spiegelman is a graphic novel... Show more

People who are convinced to go get a flu shot, or do any number of other things, then may tell
others about what they heard, which will cause more people to do so as well. This is the next
effect of propaganda the spread of it. A last effect of propaganda is, in fact, not a good one.
Propaganda can polarize audiences, which means causing people to move actively against the
propaganda s intended effects, says Renault, (par. 5). Overall, there are several types of
propaganda that have great effects on many people, which can be seen thoroughly in Maus.
Maus, which is set in World War II time period, portrays propaganda as it was seen during the
Holocaust. In Maus, Nazi propaganda targets the Jewish population to make audiences, which
are German citizens, believe false statements about the Jews. They do so in order to have
governmental control over the inferior race. Propaganda is perhaps a large basis of the book
being that a popular Nazi symbol appears countless times in the book, including on the cover. The

Media Used In Mass Media
Many people in the mass media industry have used their platform in very different ways. The
ways people have used them , do vary because some mass media influencers use their platform
for good and some use it for bad. For example, In the Brian Williams case he used it for bad
because he lied to the people that looked up to him, or people that watched the news. Another
example would be when Jorge Ramos was kicked out of the press room for asking difficult question
to Donald Trump, but in this case it was different because he used mass media for good because he
was asking these questions for the people and for them to know, what was going on. Because if
not then who is going to ask them. Brian Williams used his platform in a bad way because he lied
to people which initially caused him to lose his job. He lied to people saying that he was there in
the helicopter during the Iraqinvasion. He clearly just wanted to make himself look good in front
of the public eye , so he made himself the hero of the story when he was obviously not. Jones
states that is why much of America, including myself, is having a hard time understanding how
NBC news anchor Brian Williams could possibly have misremembered whether he was actually
aboard a Chinook helicopter forced down by rocket fire during the Iraq invasion in 2003. Especially
when there were multiple witnesses around to remind him of the truth of what happened that day .

When America established rules they were based on the Ten Commandments. Over the years it

Chinese peasant families famishing in comfort. The word famishing is considered relatively

The Great Dictator By Charlie Chaplin
The Great Dictator Chaplin Speech Analysis In the 1940 s film The Great Dictator by Charlie
Chaplin, Chaplin plays the role of a Jewish Barber set in a time similar to that of World War II.
The jewish barber shares a striking resemblance to that of the great dictator Hynkel. In the third
act of the film Hynkel is captured by mistake from his own soldiers and they mistaken the jewish
barber as their great dictator. With this new great power bestowed upon the jewish barber he
uses this chance to cry out to the people of the newly invaded country that Hynkel had sieged. In
this short speech Charlie Chaplin delivers it with a style similar to that of Hitler. Chaplin at this
point uses pure emotions to fuel his speech while he brings strategies such as hyperboles and
metaphors to convince the audience to stand up for what s right and to bring humanity back to
what we as humans once were. The biggest factor about Charlie Chaplin s speech that really draws
people in is its emotional factor. As the great dictatorin the film is based off of Adolf Hitler, the
format in which Chaplin gives the speech mirrors Hitler s style. Like most of Hitler s speeches,
The Jewish Barber starts off subtle with a soft and gentle voice saying We want to help one another,

and remorse. Chaplin pitties humanity with words such as More than

Twenty percent of the population can be considered bilingual in the U.S today. They re over 311

Cultural warfare has been brought to this world created from individuality and creating own

Espada s ideas of bilingualism is expressed in several ways. Martin Espada s main idea he makes

create culture warfare between two languages. Espada argues the majority of the people want
english to become the only language and culture in the United States. But, Espada wants to keep

Class Structures in the 1920 s
The emerging inequitable class systems and antagonisms of the nineteen twenties saw the
traditional order and moral values challenged, as well as the creation of great wealth for few and
poverty for many. The Great Gatsby, written by Francis Scott Fitzgerald, explores the causes and
effects of the unbalanced class structures. Fitzgerald outlines the idea that the desire to accumulate
wealth and status is a common ambition amongst the lower classes; when that desire is reached, the
traditional upper class is challenged by the emerging newly wealthy, which finally leads to
destructive consequences. By creating rigid class structures, traditional upper class, new wealth,

Gatsby comes from the Platonic conception of Gatz and by comparing Gatsby to Platonic
Idealism, the idea of Gatsby becomes immortalized and genuine. Gatsby, representing the lower

who desires only one result, to maintain his status and wealth. Tom obsesses over maintaining a
pure, rich class of Caucasians that he believes should never be challenged: It s up to us, who are

Ken could open this conversation more productively, beyond clearly expressing his emotions and

Two ways in which Ken could have opened this conversation productively would include 1)
owning his current feelings and 2) taking responsibility for his own actions (Wood, 2012). Instead
of his current opening, Ken could have said something like,
Jan, I really need to speak with you. I completely understand that what happened between Katie and
me was wrong, but by you telling Shannon, it has not only created issues between Shannon and me,
but also has me feeling a bit uneasy about confiding in you.
2.How do you perceive Jan s effort to convince Ken to forgive her? Based on what you have
learned in this chapter, suggest two ways she might more effectively seek Ken s forgiveness.
Firstly, Jan could have completely owned her actions and asked if there was any way to make it
up to him. Secondly, Jan should stay on topic. By her bringing up Ken telling her dad on her, and
comparing it to this situation, she effectively negated Ken s feelings and engaged in cross
complaining. Cross complaining is described as When a person s complaint is met by aa

South Carolina s Total Land Area Essay
. As of 2011, South Carolina has 13,120.5 acres of forestland. This is nearly 67% of the state s total
land area. Out of all of the forestland in South Carolina, 88% is privately owned. 63% of the
privately owned forestland is family owned. The average family owned forestland is 80 acres, and
around 56% of private forestowners live on their land. 12% of South Carolina s forestland is
publicly owned, or owned and managed by forest industries. These forest industries own nearly
137,400 acres. This number is down 93% from where it was in 2001, and it is continuing to decline.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, the total area of forestland in South
Carolina slightly declined between 2011 and 2014. The 2014 estimate of forestland acreage in
South Carolina was 12,974.1. This showed a decrease of about 1.12%. This seems to contradict the
stats given by the South Carolina Forestry Association in 2015, which say that South Carolina s

Cons of the minimum wage: As discussed earlier, the minimum wage would ultimately increase
unemployment levels due to the labour getting costlier. This would not only threaten the current

Apple Watch Debate
The Apple Watch has a few changes, but not as much as the new IPhone 7. For example the
Apple Watch is now Waterproof. I would say that is the biggest change. It also has personalized
watch faces, and that s not that big of a change. In my opinion, I would stick with the one you have
and wait for the nicer, newer one to come out.
In the article I read today, they were talking about the flu shot. It s that season again and it s time
to get vaccinated! But maybe wait until November. They mentioned how the Flu virus might show
up later in the year, and so if you get it too early, the vaccination might wear off. That not too good
for me, because I already got mine.
I read on last night s debate with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. In the Articles that I read,
most of them said Clinton won, and some Trump. I know that their all opinions, but the majority
was towards Clinton, because she had a lot of, burns, and was prepared. The main conflict in that
debate was the insults. Trump had no fresh information or insults. Do not think that me saying this

Argumentative Essay On Amelia
Espionage is seen as a threat, no matter where the location. The Japanese wouldn t want people
sneaking photographs of top secret information. Amelia would be seen as a threat and her
actions would be greatly frowned upon naturally. Her gender or aviation movement would not
matter, nor be considered when determining her fate. A spy during a time of chaos is not going
to be ignored or taken lightly. If spying was involved; I would imagine more than a plane crash
would involve her disappearance, but if she is what I envision. A feminist who wants to leave her

they trained spies but I am not sure if Amelia Earhart was one of them. I was not an eyewitness, I
have no factual evidence of her presence there. I question if the person seen just looked familiar? Or
was there confirmation on her identity that I am unaware about? The questions only continue from
not only Earhart but also the location and the actions that were considered to be going on there.
Amelia Earhart s disappearance remains unsolved and will continue this trend if investigations and

The Naciremas Rituals
Recently, it has been discovered that there is a strange new group of people that is located roughly
between Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. This group of people is called the Naciremas. These natives
have been around for roughly two hundred years and not much has been discovered about this
exotic natives. Only one study was done about this group of native by Professor Linton and still
little is known about them; however, only one thing is certain, that their sole purpose of living is
spiritual ceremonies and rituals. Professor Linton had studied the body rituals among the
Naciremas and found that they have the fundamental belief underlying the whole system appears to

Abortion is a concept that has been widely debated for years according to Roe V. Wade Turns 40,
But Abortion Debate Is Even Older , it is a argument that has been going on since the 1950 s , but
the big question is will the debate of whether abortion is pro choice or murder ever truly be over ?

The article ВЁShould Abortion Be Legal uses a lot of surveys from universities and medical

Examples Of Egoism In The Hard Problem
The Prevalence of Egoism
In The Hard Problem, one of the central issues of the book revolves around egoism veruses
altruism. Whether humans can naturally be altruist, or if they can even truly make altruist actions.
Humans are naturally egoistic. Humans evolved this way because evolutionarily it was beneficial.
Therefore that behavior has stuck around. In The Hard Problem it is evident that altruism is not real,
all actions reflect some form of egoism or just aren t altruistic. In The Hard Problem the main
character Hilary is tutored by Spike, a very egoist man who helps Hilary. Yet, from a exchange
between him and Hilary. It was quite clear why he helps her S: I go miles out of my way because
you invite me in for coffee and I throw in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many would argue that Hilary is an altruist. That she makes actions that negatively affect herself
in order to help others. Though this is simply not true. One case where it is thought she is acting
altruistically, is when she saves Bo by taking the fall for the false data when taking to Leo. H: I
did. I cleared it... L: All right... She gets a formal warning H: Thank you... L: Stop saying that. It
s you I don t wanna lose. H:I m going back to school (Scene 11 pg 70) While Hillary does in fact
save Bo for really nothing in return, and it very thankful for Leo not firing her. It is not an
altruist act, as saving Bo really has no negative effect on Hillary anyways. Hillary is going back
to school anyways, getting fired has no consequence for her. Doing something that really has no
negative impact on her does not make Hillary an altruist. The actress even conveys this in the
play, acting carefree and gleeful. During the above mentioned quote, showing that getting fired
doesn t matter as she is leaving anyways. Though this is not egoist, as Hillary does not benefit
from it. It is not altruist, as there is no sacrifice required here. Therefore Hillary is not an altruist.
Humans cannot be altruist, it goes instinctive evolutionary behavior present in humans. This is
why despite Hillary s argument that it is possible to be altruist. No character in The Hard Problem
is shown to be that way. They all act egoistically, not just via their dialogue but through their
nonverbal actions and tone of voice present in the play. Showing how they function as humans, on
a greater level than just verbally. This reflects that altruism not real and that egoism plays a major
role in the behavior present in the characters of The Hard

Gavrilo Princip Research Paper
Gavrilo Princip was an extremely influential person in the history of the world. Princip was born
on July 25th, 1894 in Obljaj, Bosnia. He left his childhood home at the age of thirteen to go and
live with his older brother, Jovo. On October 5, 1908, Bosnia was annexed from the Austro
Hungarian Empire. Serbian nationalists believed this was unfair and took the Bosnian territory
from them. This caused secret societies to begin. One was called Narodna Odbrana, National
Defense, and the other was Ujedinjenje ili Smrt, which means Unification or Death , also known
as The Black Hand (Gavrilo Princip Facts). The Black Hand was created in 1911 and Princip was
moved up into the society in 1912. This group trained and recruited people to act as terrorists,

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, By Maya Angelou
In I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, by Maya Angelou, Maya learns just how critical books are
to everyone and learns to be dependent on them over other people because while everything
around her is changing, books, writing and literature are always there to be her friend. Everything
Maya was dependent on, before she discovered books, (her mother, Momma, Bailey, her family, her
educators and her home) are so unstable throughout the whole book that she can not depend on
them. However, through all of that, books are always there and they are critical to her.
Maya Angelou writes As quickly as I had not reached my home, I sneaked away to Robin Hood s
forest and the caves of Ally Oop where all reality was unreal and even that changed everyday
(Angelou, 70) which states that, as Maya arrives to her house, she realizes it s not her home. As
upsetting as that sounds, she immediately turns to books which make her feel better so quickly.
This quote directly shows that it does not matter to Maya if, in a sense, she is homeless as long as
she has her books and that is very important. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Phantom Limb Syndrome
Phantom limb syndrome is an extraordinary condition that is caused by amputating a limb or
being born without a limb (Flor, 2002); This condition affects approximately 80% to 90% of
patients who have had a limb amputated (Flor, 2002). The first documented case of phantom limb
syndrome was in the mid 16th century (Nikolajsen Jensen, 2001). The description was given by a
French military surgeon by the name of Ambroise ParГ© (1510 1590) when he noticed that some
of his injured patients would express that they were experiencing extreme painin their missing limb
(Nikolajsen Jensen, 2001). He studied and wrote down the characterizations of this post amputation

Phantom limb syndrome and post amputation pain is far more common in adults than in children,
this would be related to the brains rate or ability to regenerate. A child brain is going to repair much
quicker than an adult, as their brains are still in rapid development (Scheinberg, 2016). Other
factors can play a part and may increase the chances of a patient experiencing this condition, and
some of them include: preamputation pain in the limb that was amputated, a blood clot that formed
in the amputated limb, a preamputation infection, previous damage to spinal cord or peripheral
nerves that supplied the affected limb, traumatic amputation, and the type of anaesthesia that was
used during the operation (Scheinberg, 2016). Nikolajsen and Jensen (2001) state that in paediatric
amputees, it was found that most of the children who were experiencing phantom pain, also
expressed feeling pain before the operation. The symptoms that occur in amputees/people born
without a limb can differ slightly, but all the symptoms are experiences in a limb that no longer
exist (Scheinberg, 2016). The symptoms of phantom limb syndrome include; shooting, stabbing,
and piercing sensations, pleasure, one may feel the sensation of clothing or jewelry touching the
missing limb, other experience their limb feeling as though it is still attached and functioning
normally, and lastly patients can experience sensations of numbness, tickling, or even a cramping
sensation (Scheinberg,

The most thorough account of judicial practice would then have to go on to study the education
and training of judges, and their embedding within a particular culture or cultures of legal
behaviour. What are the consequences of this argument? If practices are essentially ways of
acting in given circumstances, any general theory may be too distant from the practice to capture
how judges actually interpret cases. Judicial interpretation is always a matter of a specific case
and a singular set of facts. To understand why a judge in a particular case comes to a particular
conclusion necessitates a study of a precise legal context. In other words, a general account of
precedent perhaps tells us more about the practice of academic writing than it does about the work
of judges. It may be that the best way to understand the practice of judicial interpretation is to
abandon any general account, and to see how it proceeds in different doctrinal areas of law. This
would indicate that the best way to understand the practice of precedent is to study cases within
their specific contexts†.
вЂ
Precedence and judicial creativity
However, given that we need a general account of precedent, we can suggest some overarching
concerns that structure judicial practice. The historical beginnings of the present doctrine of
precedent obscure the extent to which judicial practice is creative. Judges make law, as Lord
Browne Wilkinson said in Kleinwort Benson v Lincoln City

Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP)
A recently graduated working paramedic is referred to as an Advanced Care Paramedic, or an
ACP. An ACP follows a clinical structure, the first aspect of the format is called a primary survey
which collects all emergency patient information. This compulsory technique aims to identify and
control catastrophic medical events to ensure patients have the best outcome possible (Hodegetts et
al., 2011). When conducting a primary survey of a patient an ACP would follow the basic structure
of danger, response, airway, breathing and circulation; usually shortened into the acronym DRABC

Thus Paramedics Australasia devised an introduction to the clinical role of a paramedic, although
slight variations in differing jurisdictions. Under Paramedics Australasia a paramedic is a health

their scope of practice as the patient outcome is significantly decreased, a multidisciplinary view
on the care being provided is negatively affected which in turn ensures non informed decisions are
being made for the patient unknowingly (Paramedics.org, 2011). If a graduated paramedic exceeds
their scope of practice, patient outcomes become substandard to the care they could provide within

  • 5. Alcoholism In The Sun Also Rises The Sun Also Rises is a deceiving novel. Opening with absolutely riveting scenes such as characters drinking in a cafГ©, characters drinking in a speakeasy, and characters drinking in hotel rooms, the reader can easily confuse the novel for reality television in print form. But what lies under these scenes are actually calls of help resonating from the characters. The reason for this desperation is that Hemingway and his characters are members of The Lost Generation. Dictionary.com defines this group as men and women who came of age during or immediately following World War I . Due to WWI causing this abrupt upheaval, many people became disillusioned with their previous civilian lives; resulting in unhealthy coping mechanisms such as drinking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are a few reasons why this is the case. Firstly, the Count is part of a different generation from the rest of the characters. Analysed by Outi Hakola and Sari KivistГ¶, Mippipopolous is in his seventies due to being twenty one during Britain s 1868 expedition to Abyssinia (25). Due to his age, Mippipopolous has had decades to cope with the tragedies of war compared to the few years The Lost Generation has had. Shown when Mippipopolous says I have been around very much. I have been around a very great deal (Hemingway 52), It is entirely possible the Count faced the same issues in life; the difference being, however, Mippipopolous scars are faded compared to the fresh wounds of the younger generation. Secondly, Mippipopolous has the funds befitting of a count. When offering Brett ten thousand dollars to go to Biarritz (28), Mippipopolous shows that he has little to no financial worries; unlike characters such as Mike Campbell, who sullied away his family inheritance after the war. Following Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs, this forms a foundation of safety that allows the comfort needed to focus on one s self, and not just the day to day issues that others face. Finally, Mippipopolous is one of the few characters that does not show any romantic feelings nor jealousy towards a specific person. INTRODUCTION Attention getter: Whenever I look out from my window at home, nothing but memories come back to me. The house three doors down was the unsuspecting target of the foul balls we would hit when we use to play home run derby. Or my basketball hoop which held many world championships between me being the bulls and my friends being that year s runner up. In the park across the street, I ended up blackmailing my neighbor, who was a few years older than me, into letting me play football with him and his friends. In Grand Theft Auto, you run a round picking up jobs in an imaginary city. These jobs range from killing union workers to stealing pricy automobiles. In the Journal of the American Medical Association, 90% of the games played today actually reward the player to injure another person and these were the games rated Teen. These types of gratuitous violence portrayed in video games transfer over into the everyday lives of these children. Studies of children exposed to violence have shown that they can become: immune or numb to the horror of violence, imitate the violence they see, and show more aggressive behavior the more they re exposed to violence. Some children accept violence as a way to handle problems. Studies have also shown that the more realistic and repeated the exposure to violence, the greater the impact on children. For instance, a child in Kentucky ended up bringing a revolver to school and shot 8 students. Police ended up pin pointing the source to the video games the child had been playing. The child ended up raking in more than 10,000 hours of a shoot em up style game that rewarded bonus points for headshots. Even if the games are not violent, another side effect that video games have on the health of children is with exercising. In a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In such situations the woman begins to feel helpless and her life meaningless, this instigates the husband to feel more powerful and dominant. Moreover economically backward and illiterate families have the problems of bad relationships between the mother in law and daughter in law, where the husband siding with his mother, finds it right to hit his wife to teach her a lesson. Reaction of Women to Domestic Violence a) Passively A passive woman says nothing and allows the abuse to continue. She becomes the abuser s enabler. • 10. An Overview Of Optimization CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION This chapter is discussed about the project background, the problem of the project, the objective of the project and project scope. 1.1PROJECT MOTIVATION With the development of artificial intelligence in recent years, there has been a growing interest in algorithms inspired by the observation of natural phenomena. We can see that all the algorithms are good replacements as method to solve complex computational problems. Various heuristic approaches have been adopted by researches including genetic algorithm(Holland 1975), simulated annealing (Kirkpatrick et al. 1983), immune system (Farmer et al. 1986), ant system (Dorigo et al. 1996) and particle swarm optimization (Kennedy and Eberhart 1995; Kennedy and Eberhart 1997). All the above heuristics involve the desired problem solution from iterative cycles of iterations between the population members. Unfortunately, no algorithm can solve all the optimization problems and have some algorithms can be the best solution for a few problems than the others. Optimization problems are widely encountered in various fields in science and technology. Sometimes such problems can be very complex due to the actual and practical nature of the objective function or the model constraints. Most of power system optimization problems have complex and nonlinear characteristics with heavy equality and inequality constraints. Optimization is the important process to many systems in industry and it will produce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Case Law On Horizontal Direct Effect Of Directives The CJEU case law on horizontal direct effect of directives arguably lacks consistency in regards to the application of the general principle. The principle of direct effect was established in Van Gend en Loos v. Nederlandse Administratie der Belastingen. Although there is no set definition of direct effect, a broader definition was provided in Van Gend en Loos that it can be expressed as the capacity of a provision of EU law to be invoked before a national court. However, Van Dyun v. Home Office established that directives are capable of direct effect. Furthermore, Marshall v. Southampton established that there could only be vertical direct effect of directives. This stringent principle has arguable ignited the highly contested debate of whether or not horizontal direct effect is applicable to directives or if directives could only have vertical direct effect. The magnitude of charges of protons and neutrons is the same. Protons and neutrons are found in the nucleus, while the electrons moves around it. Mass number is addition of the protons and neutrons. Atomic number is the number of protons. [1] The mass of an atomis less than the number we obtain by adding up the masses of all the protons and neutrons. This is the binding energy. The nucleus of an atom determines if it is stable or unstable. The higher the binding energy, the more stable an atom is. Unstable nuclei are radioactive, where they decay until they form stable nuclei. They emit different particles to form more stable daughter nuclei.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 15. Environmental Ethics And Its Impact On The Environment ntroduction and Thesis Environmental ethics is a branch of philosophy that examines human relationships to, and the ways they interact with, the environment. When it was noticed, that the increasing world population was negatively impacting the environment, as well as the use of pesticides, technology and industrialization, environmental ethics emerged as a field of study. Environmental ethics takes into consideration the value and moral standing of the environment and its non human entities. It focuses on the value humans place on nature and defines their moral and ethical obligations to it, and there place in it. Moral standing is when value is placed on certain things and this value is used to determine if something is morally acceptable or not. Humans have moral standing when they do something for the individuals sake and not for their or someone else benefit. There are different ethical approaches that focus on the morality (right or wrong) of human behavior and their impact on the environment, and this paper covers five that will argue for the best suited to resolve environmental issues. This paper argues that Ecocentric Ethics is the best approach to environmental ethics. Explanation of Views This section examines the theories of Immanuel Kant, Tom Regan, Peter Singer, Paul Taylor, Aldo Leopold, and Arne Naess. Individuals engage in criminal behaviors for many reasons. Although the reasons are numerous and vary, the justice system has attempted to narrow down the causes of criminal behavior. The justice system has also put into place specialty courts that are designed to better address these particular causes of criminal behavior. The goal of these courts is to better address the individual s reason that they engaged in criminal behavior in hopes that with the additional support, in the future the individual will become a productive member of society. What are specialty Courts? Specialty courts are becoming more and more popular throughout the country. Specialty courts are also commonly referred to as problem solving courts. These courts mainly focus on a specific type of criminal offense or a cause of a criminal offense. Specialty courts differ from the traditional court system. Traditional court systems are not always equipped to effectively deal with certain needs of the offenders that they come into contact with. Specialty courts are set up to help better address certain issues and are able to provide options that are specific to the offender s needs. In addition, specialty courts tend to take on less severe cases, which also help decongest the traditional system. Analysis of Bertrand RussellВґs The Problems of Philosphy... 06455401 1) The philosopher Bertrand Russell in his work, The Problems of Philosophy, comes to some conclusions of the truth of objects in our world. Through questioning certain ideas and problems in our world, he breaks down what can know what really exists in the world and what does not. Russell, an empiricist, believes that through our sensory perception of our environment. However, our own individual perception can be skewed, and therefore is susceptible to err. Russell gives an example of three people, one is color blind, one is sick, and one is inebriated sick, and one is inebriated, and ask them to describe the same chair, they will all give you slightly different answers. Then if you take that chair and put it behind a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This consistency proposes to Russell, that we, at least, must have faith in the reality of a single, specific, real chair. To this commonsensible belief, he also goes on to propose the idea that real objects cause the sense data we intake, so therefore must be related to them in a certain noteworthy way. So from this what can we believe and not believe to exist? Well first of all we can believe that, if we are looking at the chair, we can conclude the object itself is real, there is a chair there. Our senses take in the sense data of a chair, four legs, a back rest, etc. We then take this data and use our prior knowledge of other chair like things, and we can come to the solution of the object we are looking at is a chair. This logic applies to all objects in such a manner. However we cannot truly believe that certain things truly exists. Such as the fact that we cannot truly believe the existence of certain characteristics of an objects when it s subject outside influence, such as a chair in water. To the naked eye, the chair would look distorted, but it is not so, the water distorts our perception of the chair, therefore deceiving our view of the reality of the characteristics of the chair. In conclusion, Russell gives us an answer to the question, if our senses can be easily deceived and tricked into perceiving and reality that is false, how can we believe it ... • 20. The Craft Beer Industry How Brew Stooges Made Their Mark... Company Overview During this presentation we will be going into depths concerning the craft beer industry and how Brew Stooges made their mark on the industry in Huntsville, Alabama. Five years ago, in early 2010, there was a single brewery in Huntsville, Alabama, one brewery, and the only of its kind to open since the repeal of national prohibition in 1933. The city literally went for a span of 71 years without a single commercially brewed local beer. As of June 2015, there are eight breweries in Huntsville, soon to be nine. This smallish southern city, population 180,000, has undergone a total transformation as far as its craft brewingindustry is concerned. Like so many other American cities, beer has come into the vogue, but few if any can claim to have experienced such as a rapid, radical, city defining seismic shift. In just five years, old veteran brewing presences have been established and a younger generation has come along to reap the rewards of a clientele that continues to refine its taste. It s still very much a work in progress, but to compare the before and after statistics is shocking. Thanks to a timely repeal of some antiquated laws that held the brewing industry back a home brewing ban, an ABV cap, a ban on large format bottles craft beer is now free to thrive. None of this would likely have happened without the first brewery, the now defunct Olde Towne Brewing Company, which opened in 2004 to snap the 71 year drought. It s difficult to overstate ... Donna McGuire, my grandmother, has led a very different life than mine own due to multiple generation gaps and geographical differences. This interview really enlightened me about the struggles that people went through in previous years and how their childhoods were so drastically different than ours. What was really eye opening about this interview was that not only how technology has changed how we live but the evolution of society that makes older generations seem so distant even though the difference in years is only around 60 years. • 24. Model Of Behavior Analysis Modeling is undoubtedly a pervasive tendency that governs a variety of human behaviors. Albert Bandura (2006) states that modeling is an effective tool to elicit society wide change across cultural boundaries. He goes on to say that observational learning is an evolutionary adaptation that allows development of the self and overall functioning. By observing others, people can learn to behave like the models that they observe (Spiegler, 2010). This is simply referred to as imitation. Modeling requires two fundamental elements to be effective. First, an observer must be able to see what the model did, and then the observer must be able to see what happened to the model as a result of the behavior. The vicarious consequences of the models behavior largely dictate if the observer will model the behavior or not. Furthermore, there are two types of vicarious consequences; vicarious reinforcement and vicarious punishment. Vicarious reinforcement occurs when an observer witnesses a models behavior being reinforced. When models behaviors are reinforced, observers are more likely to model the behavior. Conversely, vicarious punishment occurs when an observer witnesses a models behavior being punished. When models behaviors are punished, observer are less likely to model the behavior. Also, there are several different types of models; live models and symbolic models. Live models are models that are living people, whereas symbolic models are indirectly observed models, such as characters on television or read about in books. An aspect of symbolic models is covert modeling, where an individual imagines how a particular person would perform a specific behavior, and then models it. An interesting fact about modeling is that an individual is more likely to model a behavior is the model is similar to the observer. In other words, the likelihood of modeling taking place is a function of similarity between observer and model. From this discovery came self modeling therapy. With self modeling therapy, the patient acts as both the observer and the model to optimize similarity between the two (i.e., oneself is the most similar model to oneself). This technique has been proven to be greatly effective in treating a host of mental disorders, with as little as 12 minutes of exposure to the model needed to have lasting effects. European Imperialismis not only about the takeover of territories for benefit or charity. It was also about cultural Imperialism. This imperialism was driven more by cultural desires than economic desires, as in the past. Only one persona speaks, considered potentially as a first year university Arts student. His superior tone and crude language mock the Chinese in the film and his own family. Yet, the narrator s responses are not parallel to that of Dawe and instilling this third voice encourages an alternative point of view to the reader. This tone and character construction are established in the beginning; Chinese peasant families famishing in comfort. The word famishing is considered relatively pretentious to insinuate that the narrator is equipped with some form of education, contrary to that of the family he is talking about. The narrator s relaxed humour is shown when he compares the television size to the size of the Chinese families; 25 inch Chinese peasant families famishing in comfort on the 25 inch screen. His willingness to display such wit towards a dire situation suggests his inconsideration towards the Chinese and furthermore, asserts his superiority on them. Dawe uses this tone to make a comment on the insensitivity of society and bring light to this overconsumption and under reaction. In this way, the reader is encouraged to become more aware of the lack of apathy that can occur through an overly consumeristic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Great Dictator By Charlie Chaplin The Great Dictator Chaplin Speech Analysis In the 1940 s film The Great Dictator by Charlie Chaplin, Chaplin plays the role of a Jewish Barber set in a time similar to that of World War II. The jewish barber shares a striking resemblance to that of the great dictator Hynkel. In the third act of the film Hynkel is captured by mistake from his own soldiers and they mistaken the jewish barber as their great dictator. With this new great power bestowed upon the jewish barber he uses this chance to cry out to the people of the newly invaded country that Hynkel had sieged. In this short speech Charlie Chaplin delivers it with a style similar to that of Hitler. Chaplin at this point uses pure emotions to fuel his speech while he brings strategies such as hyperboles and metaphors to convince the audience to stand up for what s right and to bring humanity back to what we as humans once were. The biggest factor about Charlie Chaplin s speech that really draws people in is its emotional factor. As the great dictatorin the film is based off of Adolf Hitler, the format in which Chaplin gives the speech mirrors Hitler s style. Like most of Hitler s speeches, The Jewish Barber starts off subtle with a soft and gentle voice saying We want to help one another, humanbeings are like that... Two ways in which Ken could have opened this conversation productively would include 1) owning his current feelings and 2) taking responsibility for his own actions (Wood, 2012). Other factors can play a part and may increase the chances of a patient experiencing this condition, and some of them include: preamputation pain in the limb that was amputated, a blood clot that formed in the amputated limb, a preamputation infection, previous damage to spinal cord or peripheral nerves that supplied the affected limb, traumatic amputation, and the type of anaesthesia that was used during the operation (Scheinberg, 2016). In other words, a general account of precedent perhaps tells us more about the practice of academic writing than it does about the work of judges. It may be that the best way to understand the practice of judicial interpretation is to abandon any general account, and to see how it proceeds in different doctrinal areas of law. This would indicate that the best way to understand the practice of precedent is to study cases within their specific contexts†. †Precedence and judicial creativity However, given that we need a general account of precedent, we can suggest some overarching concerns that structure judicial practice. • 56. Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) A recently graduated working paramedic is referred to as an Advanced Care Paramedic, or an ACP. An ACP follows a clinical structure, the first aspect of the format is called a primary survey which collects all emergency patient information. This compulsory technique aims to identify and control catastrophic medical events to ensure patients have the best outcome possible (Hodegetts et al., 2011). When conducting a primary survey of a patient an ACP would follow the basic structure of danger, response, airway, breathing and circulation; usually shortened into the acronym DRABC (Woo, 2000). To begin the primary survey, DRABC should be started as soon as possible (QAS reference). It is crucial for effective, emergency response to patients suffering ... Under Paramedics Australasia a paramedic is a health professional that provides emergency medical treatment and assessment, rapid patient response in an out of hospital setting (Paramedics.org, 2016) It is important for paramedics not to exceed their scope of practice as the patient outcome is significantly decreased, a multidisciplinary view on the care being provided is negatively affected which in turn ensures non informed decisions are being made for the patient unknowingly (Paramedics.org, 2011). If a graduated paramedic exceeds their scope of practice, patient outcomes become substandard to the care they could provide within their scope of practise (Fitzgerald, ...
