- 1. Criminal Minds – Lukas Graham Music video analysis
- 2. Scene One The mise-en-scene depicts a small town, experiencing the winter months of the year. This establishes the setting for the video. The music video uses a lot of over the shoulder shots I believe this is to enforce the idea that the music video is taken from the perspective of the person. Other camera shots used include, A SnorriCam shot, which is a camera device that is rigged to the body of the actor, facing the actor directly, so when they walk, they do not appear to move.
- 3. Scene Two The music video frequently cuts to the band who seem to be playing along with the music, this is done by playing the music whilst they record the video.
- 4. Scene Three This scene is a clever use of a security camera, the security camera suggest that the boys are doing something bad. The camera then cuts to the boy, who is slyly looking around.
- 5. Scene Four In this scene we see the boy smoking what appears to be a spliff. The artist is known to make frequent reference to drug abuse, this is most likely because of his childhood, and I believe this is what is trying to be shown here. There is no escape from a lifestyle of drugs in a society like the one shown in the music video.
- 6. Scene Five In this scene we see an eagle which has been placed next to a gun. In America, the eagle is a symbol of freedom and unity, this is visual metaphor of the two boys. The boys work together in unity in a life of crime. However a few scenes later we see the eagle on the floor about to be stood on, at this point it becomes apparent that one of the boys are about to betray the other.
- 7. Scene Six In this scene the mise-en-scene depicts a roof top shot of a building, the building overlooks a city. The fact that the boys are looking over the city, from which seems to be the highest point, suggests they are above the city and above the law.
- 8. Scene Seven In this scene we appear to see the boy staring out to the viewer, this creates a link between the viewer and the character. This invites the viewer to feel the emotions trying to be conveyed. The boy is being taken away by the police, therefore the emotion being conveyed is guilt and sympathy.
