This document describes the Brainwriting technique, a variant of Pin Cards that generates ideas through evolving sketches passed around a group rather than written lists. Brainwriting is appropriate for product design groups as it avoids limitations of traditional Brainstorming like verbal aggression by having individuals privately generate and develop sketches that are then passed anonymously to others. The process involves individuals drawing sketches to solve a problem, passing them to their right when done, and then developing or annotating received sketches or using them to stimulate new ideas of their own to pass on.
