CRASH CART
DEFINATION
It is means of storing and
transport vital equipment and drugs
which may be required during a
CODE BLUE to the location of the
emergency
HISTORY
History in the United States
The first cardiac crash cart was created in
1962 at Bethany Medical Center in Kansas City,
Kansas, home to the first Cardiac Care Unit in
the country. The first crash cart was designed
by a nurse and fabricated by the father of one
of the doctors.
OBJECTIVES
1. To identify what is the crash cart consist of.
2. To identify how to arrange crash cart contents according to
policy listed from MoHFW (Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare).
3. To determine the role of nurse during checking crash cart.
4. To know the maintenance of crash cart.
The crash cart should be kept in an easy accessible
position which is central to the patient care areas.
I. As medical caretakers nurses play a major role in the
provision of health care services.
II. They must refill the crash cart after every shift.
III. They are responsible to verify the presence and expiry
date of every item in the crash cart.
IV. Nurses should maintain their consistency ménage of
crash carts in a proper way.
NURSE RESPONSIBILITY
FUNCTION
The function of a crash cart is to provide a
mobile station with in the hospital that contains
everything needed to treat a life-threatening
situation. The advantage of mobility is that it
allows the treatment to come to the patient when
needed.
ARANGEMENT CRASH CART
The arrangement of the equipment in the crash
cart should be standardized throughout the
Jaipur National University.
