Pakistan and China have a long-standing friendship that they are strengthening further through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. China plans to invest $54 billion in Pakistan to upgrade its infrastructure by building roads, railways, and pipelines connecting China to Pakistan's Gwadar Port. This will give China a shorter and more direct route to import oil from the Middle East, reducing transport costs. It will also help China's Belt and Road Initiative and allow Gwadar to serve as an oil shipping hub. The project will create jobs in Pakistan and help address its energy needs through investments in power plants. Both countries stand to gain economic benefits from strengthened connectivity.
