Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was an Indian scientist and administrator who served as President of India. He played a key role in developing India's missile and space programs. As project director of SLV-III, India's first indigenous satellite launch vehicle, he helped put the Rohini satellite into near-earth orbit. Under his leadership, India developed strategic missiles like Agni and Prithvi. Kalam advocated for using science and technology to transform India into a developed nation and asserted India's place as a future superpower. He received several honors including the Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan for his scientific contributions.
