Covid 19 Pandemic and Educational Innovations and Development of Nigerian Ter...ijtsrd
Covid 19 is a social problem with both positive and negative implications on the people. A lot of studies were conducted on the negative implications of covid 19 on nation’s educational development, regrettably, there were paucity of scholarsly studies on the posivtive implication of this pandemic on the educational development in Nigeria. Therefore, this study seeks to fill this gap in scholarship by examining the positive implications of Covid 19 pandemic on educational development of tertiary institutions in the 21st century in Nigeria. Thus, the study was guided with three objectives and three corresponding research questions. The social change theory evolutionary perspectives and functionalist theory were used as the theoretical approaches to the study.. The study adopted a quantitative method, whereby, the survey design was adopted. The questionnaire instrument was used for data collection. The instrument was titled Covid 19 Pandemic Questionnaire CPQ and Educational Innovations, Improvement and Development Questionnaire EIIDQ . The four Likert scale SA, A, D and SD were also used. The sample size for the study was 400 derived through convenience sampling technique. The study equally used quota, purposive and accidental sampling techniques. Simple percentage, mean and standard deviation were used for data analysis. The paper reveals that apart from the negative outcome, the outbreak of covid 19 in Rivers State brought about positive outcome in the tertiary institutions, as there were perceived improvement, innovations and development in the system, through the use of online or e learning medium. Therefore, the study recommends that teachers who are the pioneer of teaching or education, should even at this period of time when there is ease of the pandemic, utilize or subject the students with e learning so as to avoid shock in case of future occurrence, and also, that teachers and students should do the needful to ensure they improve on ICT skills in case there is need for e learning. PERCEPTIONS OF ONLINE TEACHING AND LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN B...IJITE
This paper explores a sample of data collected from a UNICEF Eastern Caribbean rapid assessment on teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in eight countries. The primary investigation method was mixed and captured data from key participants/stakeholders in education using CAPI Technology and Video Conferencing tools. Statistical analyses and qualitative thematic analysis were conducted to report on findings using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences and Nvivo Qualitative Software. The data on online teaching and learning from Barbados was selected for further review and presented an opportunity to assess the Barbadian experience against other developing and developed countries. In assessing these perceptions in a sample of primary and secondary schools, stakeholders were generally dissatisfied with the online and blended learning modalities citing challenges relating to the equality and equity in access to devices and the enabling environment that facilities effective online teaching and learning.

Childhood immunization: What can British Columbia do to improve immunizations...Richard Horne
This briefing provides an assessment of various policy options that could be used to improve childhood immunization rates in British Columbia based on a review of immunization coverage strategies utilized in other jurisdictions. The implications of implementing a mandatory immunization law for all school-aged children is analyzed and discussed, among other policy options aimed at increasing childhood immunization rates as part of a strategy to combat preventable diseases. The Province’s existing policy in this area, summarized in the Strategic Framework for Immunization in B.C., has failed to ensure immunization coverage targets for major vaccine-preventable diseases are met.
THE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON THE ENJOYMENT OF LEGAL FREEDOMSAkashSharma618775
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most
people infected with the COVID-19 virus experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without
requiring special treatment. Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular
disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. The disease was
discovered in December 2019. On 31st December 2019, a series of pneumonia cases of unknown cause was detected
in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). COVID-19 has caused States to restrict movements, closed down schools,
major markets and churches and thus the virus has serious impact on the enjoyment of legal freedoms. Covid-19
has very devastating effects on economic activities generally and thus the urgent need to reduce the spread but the
situation in Cameroon is difficult to handle as the negative impacts of the virus are further compounded by lack of
support from the government to boost economic activities like supporting small businesses with funding and
reducing taxes for big enterprises so as to reduce costs and encourage production. The general objective of this
paper is to critically examine the negative impact of COVID-19 on the enjoyment of legal freedoms. One of the
main findings of the paper is that Cameroon as a State committed to the protection of its citizens’ rights has
ratified treaties protecting human rights of people including legal freedoms and thus to eradicate the impact
COVID-19 has on these legal freedoms, the work strongly recommends that as disease outbreaks are not likely to
disappear in the near future, proactive international actions are required to not only save lives but also protect
economic prosperity.
The global COVID-19 pandemic has led to unprecedented levels of disruption to education, impacting over 90%
of the world’s student population: 1.54 billion children,
including 743 million girls. School closures and the wider
socio-economic impacts of COVID-19 on communities
and society also disrupt children’s and young people’s
normal support systems, leaving them more vulnerable
to illnesses and child protection risks such as physical
and humiliating punishment, sexual and gender-based
violence, child marriage, child labour, child trafficking and
recruitment and use in armed conflict. Girls and other
marginalised groups, particularly those in displaced settings, are particularly affected.
As governments prepare to reopen schools and other
learning sites, ministries and school communities must
minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19 within
learning spaces and address the learning inequalities and
protection concerns exacerbated by COVID-19 school closures, particularly for girls and other marginalised groups.
Lessons learned from the COVID-19 school closures
must inform disaster and emergency preparedness for
future outbreaks of COVID-19 alongside other contextually
specific hazards that might further jeopardize children’s
rights to learn, be safe and survive. The school reopening process offers a unique multi-sectoral opportunity
for governments and school communities to build back
better, address gender inequalities and strengthen the
resilience of the education system. An inclusive, participatory process can help bring all children and young people
into school and leave no one behind.
Post Covid Era A Positive Correlation with Increased Number of Anxiety Disordersijtsrd
Covid In the context of the Post COVID 19 era after vaccinations, it appears likely that there will be substantial increases in anxiety and depression, substance use, loneliness, and domestic violence and with schools closed, there is a very real possibility of an epidemic of child abuse. This concern is so significant that the UK has issued psychological first aid guidance from Mental Health UK. The magnitude of deaths over a short period of time is an international tragedy on a historic scale. Focusing on the US, the number of deaths currently attributable to COVID 19 is nearly 4 times the number killed during the Vietnam War. This interpersonal loss at a massive scale is compounded by societal disruption. The necessary social distancing and quarantine measures implemented as mitigation strategies have significantly amplified emotional turmoil by substantially changing the social fabric by which individuals, families, communities, and nations cope with tragedy. The effect is multidimensional disruption of employment, finances, education, health care, food security, transportation, recreation, cultural and religious practices, and the ability of personal support networks and communities to come together and grieve. Pandemics, such as that of COVID-19, affect a large number of people, imposing new rules and social habits on them, aiming to modify the behavior that influences economic and social problems. In this context, the objective of this study was to be investigative, using the DEA tool (data envelopment analysis), seeking the efficiency of proposed and economic measures, seeking to assist them and also public policies in improving planning, trying to avoid problems such as those caused by the current pandemic. This is a cross-sectional and quantitative study, of an exploratory nature, carried out with data from the 10th. Region of the state of São Paulo, based on municipalities with 10,000, or more, inhabitants in the time interval from 05/03/2020 to 05/05/2021. This work is justified by the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic exposes structural weaknesses, economic differences and bottlenecks in the Brazilian health system, especially the lack or uneven distribution, in the territory, of health professionals and health professional, infrastructure, as well as limited production capacity, poor income distribution, the human development index and, still, the glaring differences in the GDP of the municipalities. It has been noted that 53% of the municipalities are deficient and that only 47% of them are above the average ideal efficiency rate of 0.823150. It is concluded, in this work, that the economic and social factors need to be better addressed and that social distance, the use of masks and personal hygiene must be encouraged by the representatives of the public power, in order to avoid a greater number of deaths.

The study identified the perception of technology education lecturers on school-based social distancing practices for curbing the transmission of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in Niger State, Nigeria. Two research questions were raised to guide the study and two hypotheses were formulated and tested at .5 level of significant. The research design used for this study was descriptive survey research design. The study was carried out in Niger State, Nigeria. The population of the study consisted of 52 technology education lecturers, 25 from Federal University of Technology, Minna and 27 from Niger State College of Education, Minna. Total population sampling technique was used to select the whole population of the study. The study utilized a structured questionnaire as instrument for data collection. Cronbach Alpha method was used to determine the reliability of the instrument and found to be .88 and .91 respectively. The study employed the use of mean to answer the research questions and z-test to test the null hypotheses. Findings revealed cancelling assembly, closing of playground, shortening school days per week: 3 days instead of 5, cancelling fieldtrips, cancelling afterschool activities, reducing school activity calendar, altering school schedules to prevent mixing and limiting access to visitors from outside the school environment were school-based social distancing practices for curbing the transmission of COVID-19 from technology education lecturers’ perception. The study recommended that, Nigerian Federal Ministry of Education should incorporate into the guidelines for school reopening the identified school-based social distancing practices for curbing the transmission of COVID-19. by Arah, A. Covid-19 And Movement Control Order: Stress and Coping Strategies of Student...Dr. Umair Ahmed
Abstract
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) led students feel anxious with a constant internal dialogue
of ‘Am I safe?’ that may take a serious toll on their psyche. The self-quarantine and physical
distancing, economic hardship and fears of contracting the disease are likely sources of stress.
Quite apart, students may also experience both physical sufferings and mental stress due to the
news of increasing number of infected cases and reported deaths across the globe. A range of
expert guidelines have been developed by governments and health authorities to curtail the
spread of the virus. This study models a position paper which persuades the reader to realize that
the opinions expressed are valid and could be defended. In gathering supporting evidence, an
online qualitative survey was conducted to examine the stress of students observing self-
quarantine and physical distancing in and around Desa Ilmu and Unigardern in Kota Saramarahan
as well as in apartments at Jalan Kingfisher Sabah. These students were invited as respondents
in this online investigation using interview protocol to take their responses. This study is among
the first to examine the stress and coping strategies of students observing self-quarantine and
physical distancing. The paper may provide useful information about how students cope in

Containing the COVID 19 Pandemic in Nigeria A Reflection on Government Action...ijtsrd
The outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic led to the lockdown of the global economy in the early part of the year 2020. In line with the measures recommended by the World Health Organization WHO , countries also introduced further mechanisms based on their respective unique environment to contain the virus. This paper reflected on the citizens’ reactions to government measures in containing the COVID 19 pandemic in Nigeria. Specifically, it reviewed the government’s actions towards containing the virus and how they influenced the citizens’ response. The study was qualitative and focused between March and September 2020. Relying on secondary data that were analyzed through content analysis, we triangulated the Persuasive Communication Theory and Resistance Theory to interrogate the governments actions and the citizens’ reactions. We argued that the governments approach towards containing the virus contributed to i the doubt on the existence of the virus in the country held by some of the citizens, ii the lack of strict observation of precautionary measures and safety regulations, iii the seeming non co operation between the government and the citizens in containing the virus. The implications of this relationship pose challenges for future epidemics, pandemics, and development in the country and could serve as a premise for further research. Capstone in Interprofessional Informatic // IMPACT OF COVID 19 ON EDUCATIONLakpaYanziSherpa
In my capstone project, I investigated the impact of COVID-19 on education. Using data analysis and statistical methods, I explored various aspects such as enrollment trends, access to resources, and socioeconomic disparities. I found a significant association between children missing classes and a lack of internet connection at home, as well as between household financial situations and children's enrollment in school. These findings highlight the importance of addressing disparities in internet access, household finances, and geographical location to ensure equal educational opportunities for all students during and beyond the pandemic.
Use of Digital Technologies in Public Health Responses to Tackle Covid-19: th...hiij
This paper aims to study the fight against COVID-19 in Bangladesh and digital intervention initiatives. To achieve the purpose of our research, we conducted a methodical review of online content. We have reviewed the first digital intervention that COVID-19 has been used to fight against worldwide. Then we reviewed the initiatives that have been taken in Bangladesh. Our paper has shown that while Bangladesh can take advantage of the digital intervention approach, it will require rigorous collaboration between government organizations and universities to get the most out of it. Public health can become increasingly digital in the future, and we are reviewing international alignment requirements. This exploration also focused on the strategies for controlling, evaluating, and using digital technology to strengthen epidemic management and future preparations for COVID-19.

Computer Based Training and Leaning under the Influence of the COVID 19 Pande...ijtsrd
The article investigates computer based training during the COVID 19 pandemic in South Africa's Institutions of Higher Learning, as well as assess the feasibility of Computer Based Learning in the post COVID era. The data was gathered through the use of desk top research by looking at how various South African university institutions have made CBT an important learning and teaching tool when it comes to copying with the politics that came about with lockdowns such as the closure of schools as a way to manage the spread of the pandemic. The study reveals that, the emergent appearance of the COVID 19 pandemic in South Africa, saw an increased usage of computers and mobile phones as an alternative learning tool which could eventually replace face to face learning. It is however revealed that, the success of computer based training and learning heavily relies on efficiency and reliability of computer infrastructure, reliable internet connectivity as well as knowledge of computer technology by instructors and learners. The research is however, limited to the confines and experiences of South African educators and learners and concludes by giving recommendations on how these challenges can be solved. Abstract: Uncertain times require prompt reflexes to survive and this study is a collaborative reflex to
better understand uncertainty and navigate through it. The Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic hit hard
and interrupted many dimensions of our lives, particularly education. As a response to interruption of
education due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this study is a collaborative reaction that narrates the overall
view, reflections from the K12 and higher educational landscape, lessons learned and suggestions from
a total of 31 countries across the world with a representation of 62.7% of the whole world population. In
addition to the value of each case by country, the synthesis of this research suggests that the current
practices can be defined as emergency remote education and this practice is different from planned
practices such as distance education, online learning or other derivations. Above all, this study points
out how social injustice, inequity and the digital divide have been exacerbated during the pandemic and need unique and targeted measures if they are to be addressed. While there are support communities and mechanisms, parents are overburdened between regular daily/professional duties and emerging educational roles, and all parties are experiencing trauma, psychological pressure and anxiety to various
degrees, which necessitates a pedagogy of care, affection and empathy. In terms of educational
processes, the interruption of education signifies the importance of openness in education and highlights
issues that should be taken into consideration such as using alternative assessment and evaluation methods as well as concerns about surveillance, ethics, and data privacy resulting from nearly exclusive

Introduction
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a crisis in many sectors globally, including the education sector. Since the disease hit the world, efforts have been made to seek alternative lifestyles. It forced the education sector to move away from face-to-face learning, and both teachers and students switched to online learning. Since then, the disease has had impacts like sociological where people cannot come up and learn together, psychological in that people have been stressed up with deaths of their people, and much more on distance learning in adolescents (Ali, 2020). In this case, it is the ninth-grade students of the American High School Academy. The disease has created unprecedented pressure on Miami Dade. On April 6, 2021, the number of reported death cases was 19, and 1,516 new cases were reported. This shows that the infection rate is still very high, despite the slight decrease in the number of infected. The COVID-19 rules being followed in Miami include getting vaccinated, wearing masks to maintain social distance, and disinfecting rooms and objects. The referred center has about 250 students, and their teachers take attendance to classes online, and classes are attended online.
1.1-Research problem / Definition
Coronavirus is a disease caused by the COVID-19 virus classified as a pandemic at present, which has changed the dynamics of the world in general. The first case was discovered in the city of Wuhan in China in December 2019, and since then, the disease has spread around the world, claiming thousands of lives. COVID-19 has impacted the biological, psychological, and social point of view in the ninth-grade students of the American High School Academy located in Miami Dade County in southern Florida, starting with implementing the modality of Distance Education to replace face-to-face learning program. Students cannot adopt new rules and regulations due to limited financial resources (Ballivian et al., 2020). Students cannot continue with distance education due to limited financial resources.
1.2-Justification and relevance of the study
At this point of justification and relevance of the study, we will primarily focus on why this study is essential to the school or anyone in general. First and foremost, the impacts of the coronavirus have been very many, and people have not known how to deal with them, and the study will help then affected people to know how to deal with the pandemics like such next time. Secondly, there is an existence of gap for the research of coronavirus pandemic; hence this study will help the researchers ...

New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection

Flu Vaccine Alert in Bangalore Karnatakaaddon Scans
As flu season approaches, health officials in Bangalore, Karnataka, are urging residents to get their flu vaccinations. The seasonal flu, while common, can lead to severe health complications, particularly for vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.
Dr. Vidisha Kumari, a leading epidemiologist in Bangalore, emphasizes the importance of getting vaccinated. "The flu vaccine is our best defense against the influenza virus. It not only protects individuals but also helps prevent the spread of the virus in our communities," he says.
This year, the flu season is expected to coincide with a potential increase in other respiratory illnesses. The Karnataka Health Department has launched an awareness campaign highlighting the significance of flu vaccinations. They have set up multiple vaccination centers across Bangalore, making it convenient for residents to receive their shots.
To encourage widespread vaccination, the government is also collaborating with local schools, workplaces, and community centers to facilitate vaccination drives. Special attention is being given to ensuring that the vaccine is accessible to all, including marginalized communities who may have limited access to healthcare.
Residents are reminded that the flu vaccine is safe and effective. Common side effects are mild and may include soreness at the injection site, mild fever, or muscle aches. These side effects are generally short-lived and far less severe than the flu itself.
Healthcare providers are also stressing the importance of continuing COVID-19 precautions. Wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, and maintaining social distancing are still crucial, especially in crowded places.
Protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated. Together, we can help keep Bangalore healthy and safe this flu season. For more information on vaccination centers and schedules, residents can visit the Karnataka Health Department’s official website or follow their social media pages.
