The novel coronavirus has spread briskly around the world due to its high level of infectiousness. On March 11, 2020 the World Health Organization(WHO) declared the viral outbreak a global pandemic. This paper analyzes recent political innovation taking place within the current COVID-19 climate. To answer this question, we conducted a survey and researched politics prior to the outbreak, during, and hypothesized the effects to come within our future government. Our results showed trivial belief that the United States government lacked the proper vaccine or policies and procedures to combat the reverberations caused by the virus or any form of outbreak despite the use of simulations to prepare. Instead COVID-19 has wreaked havoc amongst the American government. Currently, political officials have begun attempts to repair the damage by conducting a series of bailouts and other incentives. Loss of insurance and increase in unemployment has resulted in the hypothesis that the government will shift from private to public sectors in response to public outrage. It is hoped that this study will awaken American citizens to vote for political officials who will implement policies and procedures that will properly prepare and react to the ongoing and future outbreaks.

solely focus on technological advances.

Government agencies, such as Homeland Security abandoned their pandemic-
planning efforts in 2017.
Prior to 2017 the department had programs which analyzed computer generated
simulations to monitor the effects of a pandemic on the economy.
These simulations were overseen by the National Infrastructure Simulation and Analysis
Center
Some of the modeling unit’s analyses looked at what would happen if a large
portion of the U.S. workforce became ill or were unable to show up at work.
These models were replaced, and the funding instead went to hurricane disaster
relief plans.

● The economy has exhibited a plummeting
decline.
● Several companies are losing money and
many Americans are out of work. The
decrease in spending was hurting the
economy, so the government decided to give
some industries “bailouts”. Airlines are
eligible to receive money to keep them
propped up while travel has significantly
decreased.
● Congress released at least 3 trillion dollars to
help stimulate the economy.
● Majority of the people in the world are
practicing social distancing.
● Businesses are conducting work at home.

8. Possible Corruption in Covid-19 Response Delay
Several senators and other politicians have been accused of insider trading as they large portions of shares
weeks before the coronavirus officially placed us in lockdown.
Senator Richard Burr from North Carolina sold a sizeable amount of his net worth in stocks just 2 weeks
before he made an announcement claiming how dire the coronavirus situation was.
Majority of sold shares were in hotels, showing that he knew the situation was dire at the time and did not
rush to respond.

11. Future Political Innovations Due to
COVID-19
● Prior to COVID-19, the United States of America was a center-right country that usually wanted a
minimalist government.
● Minimalist governments typically have limited federal government intervention, and want the economy
privatized. One innovation that will probably happen in this country is the shift from a minimalist
government to a more involved government.
● Besides a shift in the type of government that we have, I believe we will have Medicare For All.
● Another potential innovation could be student-loan forgiveness.
