This document discusses costume and prop choices for several characters in a film. Chris and James will wear expensive branded clothing to portray their competitive personalities and desire to be seen as the best. Ryan will wear basic, non-branded clothes reflecting his quiet nature. Ben, the antagonist, will wear all black clothing with negative connotations as he has recently left a psychiatric hospital. Props including iPhones, a knife, fake blood, a car, and camping equipment are discussed and will be provided by the document's author without additional budget costs.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Costumes and props Report
Chris
A character that likes to dress quite smart and think that he’s the leader of the
group and his clothing style reflects this. He’s a presentable individual who is
wearing expensive designer branded clothing as he likes to be seen as the best
by his mates. His personality of being the best out of his mates is massively
reflected in his clothing choices. This character will be wearing a Tommy Hilfiger
jumper with the branded logo clearly visible on the front to stand out amongst
his mates. Also, hewill bewearing blackbranded ArmaniJeans which onceagain
is a product of a expensive brand. These two pieces of clothing which the
character is wearing clearly shows his wealth and how he likes to be seen as the
dominant character and is not to be messed with. Finally, he will be wearing
black Adidas shoes as they fit in well with his outfit. Thesepieces of clothing are
pre- owned by the cast member which is why I have picked these pieces. This
was importantin keeping within the budgetof my film and is exactly the outfitI
envisioned for my character.
2. Jamie Hamer
James
A character that likes to be in control of the situation and take a lead in
everything and his clothing style reflects this massively, very similar to Chris.
Also like Chris, James likes to wear expensive branded clothing as he likes to
show off and appear that he is the best. Both characters’ competitive nature
kicks in when it comes to clothing as they both like to have better clothes than
each other. James likes to wear quite vibrantcoloursasthis showsoffhisenergy
which explains to the audience the connotations of his character quite well.
James will be wearinga CP CompanyT-Shirtwhich is a veryexpensive brandand
is well regarded amongstyoung adults. Also, he will bewearing Levi Jeanswhich
again is a respectable brand. Finally, he will have the latest Nike shoes on
showcasing how heis up with the latest fashion trends. Thesepieces of clothing
are owned by the character so that no money is needed to buy clothes from out
of my budget.
3. Jamie Hamer
Ryan
A character who is quite quiet and sensible and his clothing style reflects his
personality massively. This actor will wear basic non-branded clothing as he
doesn’tcare aboutwearingthe bestclothes out of his mates. Hewill weara grey
jumper, blue jeans. And somebasic white shoes. The color grey is quitea neutral
color and has no real meaning and this is very similar to this character as he sits
as quite a neutral character when Chris and James have a small argument, he
decides to siton the fence and try and actas the peace maker. This castmember
owns all the pieces of clothing so therefore no money will be needed from the
budget to pay for clothing. The clothes that this character will wear are the
stereotypical clothes which most young adults would wear in the 21st
century.
As he is wearing casual clothes it creates personal identity with this character
and allows the audience to relate to this character, which is one Blumler and
Katz’s gratifications for why we watch Tv and film
4. Jamie Hamer
Ben – Antagonist
As this character, has recently left a psychiatric hospital, he is dressed in very
basic clothing and what he is wearing reflects this. He is wearing all black, this
has been chosen on purpose as black has the connotations of fear and the
unknown. Also, black has negative connotations which as this character is the
antagonist I feel like by having the character wearing black It helps fit the brief
of the character. He will be wearing a black hoodie, black tracksuitbottoms and
black shoes. All these clothes are owned by the cast member so therefore no
extra money was needed to taken out of the budget to buy clothes for this
character. By wearing black clothes it foreshadows what is going to happen in
the film and gives the audience of sense of danger.

Props List
IPhones - Several iPhones are going to be used in the film at different points to
show characters making and receiving calls. An IPhone has been specifically
chosen becauseit is a popularphone and allows the charactersto showofftheir
wealth again and how they like to have the best out of all their friends. I will be
allowing the castto usemy IPhonein thefilms sinceit is already available to me.
This will allow me to make my film more modern.
Knife - A knife will be used at the end of the film to show one how one of the
characters has been stabbed. Within the film I won’t show the action of the
character being stabbed but I will show a shot of the knife in one of the
character’s hand before and after the stabbing. This won’t cost me anything as
the knife is owned by myself so will be readily available at any points.
Fakeblood – I will usefake blood which will be put on the knifein the shotafter
the stabbing to show that the character has been stabbed and add more effect.
The use of the fake blood helps to add realism to my film and make it more
believable to the audience that the character has been stabbed.
Car – I will need a car for various shots in my film but it has very little camera
time in total so it doesn’tneed to be a specific car or anything. The car is owned
by myself so it won’t cost anything to be used and all travel expenses will be
covered by myself.
Camping equipment – I will take a variety of camping equipment to makemy set
look more realistic. This includes camping chairs and a tent, these pieces of
equipment areowned by myselfso there is no costadded to the budgetof using
these.
