Costume and Props
There are a range of different costumes and props that we need in order to make our
trailer realistic and conventional.
For example props include: a fake gun, bin bags, flowers, pregnancy test, police badge
and hand cuffs.
All of these props are conventional of soap operas as they are part of some people’s
everyday lives therefore they create a sense of verisimilitude.
A representation of the character is then displayed and passed to the audience who
interpret this in different ways. This is essential in soap operas as they need the
audience to have varied opinions on characters in order for suspense and tension to
build.
Costume and Props
Costume-
As we have 7 different characters we will need a wide variety of costumes.
Costume 1
AMANDA- she is a police woman and therefore will be dressed in police uniform such as: straight leg trousers,
jacket, tie and shirt.
Costume 2
DAVE- he is on his day off and is therefore dressed casually
He is wearing jeans, hoodie and trainers
Costume 3
SOPHIE- she is younger than Amanda and dresses her age
Her costume will consist of: jeans, a top/jumper and a jacket.
Costume 4
BEN- he is a drug dealer and therefore his costume will connote trouble and criminal activity. Therefore he will
be dressed in a hoodie, trainers and tracksuit bottoms. He may additionally have his hood up throughout his
featuring in the trailer.
Costume 5
ROBBIE- he is sold the drugs. He is a respected man and is therefore an unlikely candidate to be buying drugs.
He is dressed in a shirt and tie with straight leg trousers and smart shoes.
Costume 6
JAMIE- he is young and criminal. His clothing is baggy and dark to connote this e.g. a hoody and jeans with
trainers.
Costume 7
TILLY- Tilly wakes up she is therefore wearing pyjamas.
1) AMANDA
2) DAVE
3) SOPHIE
4) BEN
5) ROBBIE
6) JAMIE
7) TILLY
