The word Infrastructure has long been synonymous with:
“engineered systems that support specific functions of
modern industrialised society: transportation, energy, water,
military, etc.” (Belanger, 2010).

GREEN BLUE INFRASTRUCTURE
We define Urban Green Infrastructure ( UGI)*
«The biodiversity elements and systems in connection with Natural
Capital in any urban area, intrinsically valuable or degraded, including
building-integrated technological devices levering on
biodiversity, such as green roofs, vegetated walls, permeable
pavements, rain gardens, and other sustainable water management
systems able to promote, through the provision of Ecosystem Services,
environmental protection, economic feasibility, well-being, equity and
social inclusion.» (Andreucci, 2013)
